Security Issues [Raven Marie]

Post by EfOff (DELETED 8943) »

Ef made his way around the parameter of the building for the third time in the past hour, when he'd taken this job, he hadn't realized all the work it actually entailed. The plethora of keys that hung at his waist jingled rhythmically as he checked, double check, and even triple checked all of the gates and doors. Placing one pale hand on the short bill of the despised 'mandatory' black cap with "SECURITY" emblazoned across the front, he took it off for a moment, sighed heavily, tugged the cap down again, then made his way into the building.

Making his way over to the security desk, Ef saw the temporary guy, Lenny, he'd hired to 'help out' hadn't even notice Ef's return. It should've been easy enough for Lenny assess where anyone or anything was in or around the place. All he had to do was watch a few monitors, the place had cameras just about anywhere you could imagine and some you'd never notice. Slamming a pale fist down on the countertop hard, he yelled, "LENNY! Get out, you lazy ****! I didn't hire you to be a chair warmer! Leave your keys and cap and just get the **** out!" Ef stared at Lenny, as he slowly rose, then placed his cap and keys on the desk. Lenny opened his mouth to protest but Ef didn't let him get a single word out. Pointing to the door, Ef shook his head once as he clinched his jaw muscles.

Sighing once again, Ef walked around the desk and seated himself in the now vacant chair. Glancing at one of the monitors, he groaned loudly, Lenny was walking out if the building, unaware he was being followed. Ef thought for a split second about going to help the poor guy out, but then the thought passed as quickly as it had arrived. He owed the man nothing, except maybe two hours wages. Humans weren't any of his concern and if there were anything left over afterwards, well, he'd cleaned up messes before and he could do it again. Flipping a switch on his console to stop recording the video, he sat there, watching the whole thing unfold, Lenny was getting what he deserved and Ef would 'fix' the recording later.

Raven walked around like she normally did. She liked to explore new and unknown areas. She didn't know what she was doing exactly but, surely she would find out. She hated seeing others get killed. She would never kill her prey but, just daze and confuse them. She had learned how to do that. She was new to this whole thing so she didn't know very much. Most of it was still confusing. She walked around glancing at the new scene. It was a security building. She looked up at the cameras and saw a man being followed. She leaned against a wall and watched for a while. She didn't know what to do and if she had she wouldn't have been very helpful anyway.

As Ef watched the gory scene unfold on the monitor, the feral vampire had just started ripping Lenny to shreds. Blood was beginning to form large pools on the concrete. Great! I'll have hell cleaning that up before dawn. Sighing, Ef got up, went to the utility closet then returned with a mop and mop bucket full of water and bleach. Taking one last glance at the security monitor, he swore under his breath, there was a young woman leaning against the wall, watching. "Where in the hell did she come from?", he muttered, "Just what I need too. Another 'loose end' to take care of later."

Grabbing what he had gathered up, Ef walked out the door to start cleaning up the feral's mess. He didn't know if it had left or where it had gone, he didn't give a ****, it had taken the body with it and disappeared into the nearby woods. Most of Lenny's blood had been, in his opinion, wasted on the concrete.

Ignoring the young woman completely was out of the question, but she didn't seem to be in shock from what she had seen and heard. He'd deal with her later, as long as she didn't try to leave before he was ready for her to do so, she could wait.

Raven had watched the whole scene yet, somehow intrigued her thoughts even more. She watched as the man had dragged the body away. She leaned off the wall and walked away slowly. She didn't like to hang around places too long. Many thoughts crossed Raven's mind about her old family and her new family. It was interesting to be apart of a family again. Raven didn't know much about family but, she thought that she knew enough for now. Things were a lot more complicated when she had her old family and was living with them. She sighed and smiled at the thought of helping her mother bake and her father work. She loved to do those things. She wondered if she would be able to do those things again. She had no clue but, maybe sooner or later she would see and find out. She was curious about a lot of things and sometimes she let her curiosity get the best of her. Like this time when she saw this place it got the best of her and she just had to come in at that exact moment. As Raven continued walking she continued her thoughts as well.

Ef swore as he saw the young woman detach herself from the wall she'd been leaning on and turn to walk away. Dropping the mop into the bucket, he wiped his hands on his shirt as he moved to intercept her. Darting a few steps in front of her, he planted his feet and crossed his arms on his chest.

"I'm afraid I can't just let you leave, miss. Not just yet, anyway, not after you witnessed all of that!" he gestured behind her with his chin. "I need you to go inside the building and wait so I can finish cleaning up, then I'll need to know exactly what all you saw happen."

She didn't actually have a choice, not in his mind anyway, if she chose not to wait for him inside he would be forced to be less than gentle with her. He was prepared to do whatever it took to keep her from telling others about what she saw, he wouldn't like having to do it, but he would. Humans would have a field day with a story like the one she could tell them. He gestured towards the building with one hand, palm open, and waited.

Raven sighed and went to the building waiting until she was out of sight. She snuck behind the building and began to walk away. She didn't want to deal with this at the moment. Raven walked out of the area and to the street hoping to get away without being spotted. She walked through an alley and thought about her new and old family. Her old family was all she could think about at the moment. She didn't know why she couldn't get her mind off of them but, she guessed that it was just the way it was. She couldn't stop hearing the screams and the roaring flames of the fire. She couldn't get the images out of her head. She tried to think about something else but, nothing worked.
