Planned Avatar Update - Details

So pretty briefly, here's what's happening on the inventory page at the moment.

For a few reasons, it's been decided that there will be customisable avatars in Path and Blood. These avatars will be visible on character sheets (which are being reworked slightly), inventory pages, wound pages, and most importantly when your character speaks in the forthcoming storyteller system. As well as playing a part on all of these pages, the avatars will also serve as a way to keep track of equipped relics, and will hopefully make the game seem more enticing for newbies.

So far only the skins themselves are changeable, and there are a limited number of skins added so far. I'll shortly be adding lots more skins, then hairs, then clothing and relic images. There will be a good deal of customisation options available from the outset, and more will be added quite regularly. There will also be collectible items of clothing that you'll find on NPCs, through B&E, quests, and similar.

Though there will be a fairly large number of base skins, you will be able to upload or request the face of a specific claimed model or similar, so rest assured that your avatar will mostly be an approximate representation of your character.

I understand wanting to roll out the updates, but I'm really uncomfortable with having a mostly naked woman wearing only string panties automatically pop up on my screen when I click inventory. It basically means I cannot sign in to the game in any public place, and not even on my phone for fear a student might pass behind me and see a mostly naked woman on my screen.

I understand why they are naked, so you can build them up, but can the default while there are not clothes available, please be clothed. Even if you just colored it to look like a scuba suit it would be much safer for those of us who like to play in public places.

I'm so glad you said that. I thought it was just me. >.>

I'd be fine with any sort of clothing on either of them-the guys aren't much better tbh and not something I want to be shown with kids looming around me either. >.>

Count me in on the prude train, I have no one but Hubby looking over my shoulder but still it's embarrassing to me, lol. :|

I didn't think to check the male avatars. I was just feeling uncomfortable here in my own living room, and realized I can't tome anymore with Echi in Blood (yay for proving it's not a site about the Blood Gang) because I'd have to open inventory and it appears right away.

I logged in to Amara and hadn't needed to tome Echi yet. So I'm glad the images aren't linked right yet in Blood.

I was actually wondering if there's eventually going to be able to disable them at some point? I'm mobile a lot of the time and it slows down my cell phone pretty well.

A not-next-to-nude option would be great, too, as the rest have said. I usually play at work as well.

It slows down my laptop too right now, I hope that'll change as it progresses. I am not really crazy about it but I don't hate it. I'm just sad that all the artwork on the CS pages won't get to be seen anymore, more than anything else. I've seen some freaking awesome CS sets. Being able to customize that page was a huge draw for me when I started.
