Role-play Battle Questions

Is there a hitter cap in the new RP battles, or can
anyone who is participating in the thread initiate an attacks? The announcement says that any character involved in the same thread can initiate an attack at any time.
Related to this, what is the deal with open threads, because if anyone participating in a thread can attack, then ten characters could join an open thread in quick succession and attack anyone already involved in the thread?

You get 50% more exp for open threads, so I think the risk of having someone join and slap you around seems fair ;)
ETA:
Do attacks in RP count towards a character's hit limit on the grid? For example, if someone is attacked twice in an RP thread, can they only be hit another couple of times on the grid during the same day?

Also, does this count towards the locked out of lairs thing as well?

It doesn't lock you out of lairs, and it doesn't count towards hitter caps. The reason for the latter is that these battles don't have any limits on the number of fighters per side.
As for the other questions, yes anyone can jump into an open thread and attack somebody, so long as both have replied within the past week. I'm aware that this does potentially open it up to allow 10 people to suddenly appear in an open thread and attack an individual, but that's just realistic anyway, and could result in some interesting roleplay. The target can always simply flee if they are outnumbered.
There will be tweaks I have to make to the system, of course. One thing I forgot to do (but will add soon) is to make it so that only the first attacker can hit first, until the defender has moved. That way 10 people can't jump into a thread and kill an offline person before they even have a chance to respond. So I'll do that as soon as I can. I might also need to add some other safeguards to prevent sudden offline gang killings.

Obviously it's against the rules, BUT
With this system, I still see the attack icon in the ooc boards. Anything preventing people from ooc attacks?
:/

@Mooncalf
Thanks for the answers. It sounds like it could be fun. I feel some open threads bubbling up inside :)

Either Heathen or Hannah Lynn have NOT replied to this roleplay thread in the past week, so you may not attack them at this time. The target must have replied to the thread in question within the past week (real time).
When I try to attack the Hannah Lynn account from this thread.
Looks like David's already got it set to work with RP boards only.

Nah, you get a confirmation screen when you attack someone. I wouldn't have actually hurt anyone.

Or Heathen and Hannah just have not RPed for it to count at all.
So, if Heathen were to be in a thread with Birdee and you hit the Attack button via the OOC forums, would it still count?
Or am I over-complicating this matter? LOL
