Out of the rabbit hole...again. [Open]

Post by Revyia »

Offshoot of solo thread here
Revyia made her way through Harper Rock going from alley to alley. She crossed roads in places where she had to, but as a whole did her best to remain as unseen as possible. She had no destination in mind - there was nowhere for her to go. It was a feeling she was accustomed to, which served her well in times like this. Her senses were strong - the smallest sound registering with her after her months of isolation.

Each feeling on her skin, each sound that made it to her ears, each smell that wafted up into her nose… they all sought to overwhelm her. Drunken humans laughed, their tone so high in pitch it made the elder grit her teeth as she overcame the impulse to clap her hands over her ears. The foul scent of human waste was all around her, reducing her to forgoing the act of breathing altogether. She had little recollection of her human life. Little remembrance of being as foul. She had no regard for the humans that walked the Earth. They had never shown her an ounce of kindness or mercy. They evolved, but at their core they would always be the same.

Boarded up windows. An almost imperceptible smile graced her before falling back away as she made her way towards the abandoned building. There may be humans inside, though likely not ones that would be missed should she decide she was still hungry. Perhaps there would be nothing there to see except for rodents and other creatures that would likely steer clear of her. It didn’t matter what she found - it was a place away from the outside world where she could huddle for a short while at least and decide what she wanted to do next.

The house Tyra was in had definitely seen better times. Boarded up windows, the small remainder of furniture left mostly broken at some point and trash left behind by those that stayed here after it was abandoned created the picture that was now in front of her. It definitely wasn't the kind of place one would usually loiter around if one had other choices. But by now, she had started not to mind the place anymore. After all, she had a reason to come here. Looking around, she now searched for said reason. It should be around by now.

That was when she spotted a movement at one of the doors of the room. A smile appeared on Tyras face as she saw it and she crouched down, waiting for the cat to come to her. It was a brown-grey spotted cat, one of the types with short fur that shimmered if it was taken care of well. Now it had reached Tyra and she started to pet it. Many days had passed before she had finally gotten the cat to trust her enough to come to her. Back then, it had been horribly thin and looked like it had been abandoned, but now it was looking way better. After all, Tyra had been bringing food for it daily and taken care of the cat when she came here.

Several times she had thought about bringing the cat to an animal shelter. However, she still wasn't sure about it. That cat, although seeming to like and trust her, never followed her away from this place. It always scattered off some other direction. This made her think it may have some place it belonged. Or at least one it saw as it's home. What right would she have to drag the cat to an animal shelter then? Just because she was able to, it still didn't give her the right to do so, neither did it give her the ability to know what would be best for the little animal. Of course Tyra could try following it to see where it went, but she doubted it would work. Cats have a very good hearing and she was sure she'd not be able to be quiet enough.

Taking two plastic cups and a package out of her bag, she placed the cups down and ripped the package open to fill the cat food into one cup. The other one she filled with water out of a bottle she had with her. Tyra really had taken a liking to that cat. Well, it was always the same. She had always liked animals and would go to far greater lengths for them than for other people. Especially after she had seen how people killed others only for their own benefit. Animals weren't like that, they only killed to protect their family or to survive. Thinking about this, she watched the cat eat and drink, a small smile on her face.
