Impact Thread: Decrease the City Alert

So I have noticed that the city alert level is currently at: collapsing.

This would naturally worry pro-masquerade characters, would it not? I was wondering then if anyone was considering working on an impact thread to reduce the city alert, or if we even think that anything could be done at this point. I think either way there's a lot of potential role play to be gained from this crucial point in Harper Rock's history.

Would anyone be up for plotting on this?

I'd guess no matter what we try it's gonna end up too little too late. Sounds like it's a perfect fit for Alexandrea, lol. I'm very very VERY interested in this.

What constitutes an impact thread?

Like, plot wise, what actions would be required? eta: I ask as someone who plays a hacker. I could see myself throwing her in this. Right now she's having her big holy **** moment about the supernatural (looking for more participants should anyone be keen), but while she'll remain divided on the affair, she does work for a vampire (doesn't know it yet) and would benefit from having no heat headed her way.

Well it personally benefits me both ways as I have characters on both sides. I would maybe jump on both ships if possible to maximise the enjoyment, but that's probably not kosher. Lol.

Levi would work to protect the Masquerade even if it's doomed at this point while you have Myk dancing in the ashes of the burnt veil. Fun!

As for what constitutes an impact thread, it would be anything that affects the wider city. You would have to have it authorised by the staff I believe. There is a thread on this that I would link to if I weren't using my rubbish phone right now. I therefore refer to the smarter, more equipped individuals of this forum. :D

There's also a wiki page to explain a bit about impact threads here.

If you guys have any questions about what might work etc, just let me know. <3!

There is a small group discussing the opposite currently >> that this is proof that it is no longer working and something else must replace it when it does, inevitably collapse entirely.

To be fair, I haven't actually seen anyone doing anything about protecting the Masquerade in a long, long while. So, to me, that's kinda like saying, "I have a vacuum cleaner sat in the front room, but it's not doing anything to stop the dirt accumulating!"

It's my opinion that if you want something to get done, you have to do something and not just wait for it to resolve itself. There are several tools available on Path, so we should consider using them. If switching on the vacuum cleaner doesn't suck up that dirt after all, maybe we need to pull out the feather dusters and the sweeping brush too.

Whether your characters believe in upholding the "law" or not, I would expect characters to be responding to the fact that the Masquerade is collapsing.

I haven't seen anyone do an Impact Thread in a very long time either, which is why I was hoping to spark some interest and encourage people to get involved. :)

If more people are interested in seeing the Masquerade collapse entirely, maybe we can start another thread for people to focus on that aspect there? I would kinda like to focus this thread on trying to "fix the problem" as it were.

Is anyone interested in a brainstorming session?

... Wow.

You speak about actions over words, yet sit here asking for discussion. I mention it because I thought it might be cool to have opposing sides of the issue, and perhaps multiple threads culminating in one where opposing sides met to either argue or find middle ground.

You should know, you've complained publicly enough of it lately, how tricky it can be to turn words into actions when trying to organise groups. Just because you don't see it yet doesn't mean it isn't happening. Constructive responses might be a better approach than dismissive. You constantly ask for contribution then when it is offered sort of turn your nose up. Again, I mentioned it as it seemed relevant in regards to people reacting to the threat and you did mention whether people would fight to lower it or if it was viewed as too late at this point, thus pointing out quite a few thought the latter.

Carry on, I won't further divert from your discussions.

Good luck with your thread, Claire.
