“Jesus… *******… Chri…” muttered Aaron Hunter under his breath, his sentence failing to be completed due to the fit of giggles that had erupted within his surprised body.
Word had reached Aaron about some kind of auction at the Necropolis Nightclub, where the lots would be people, offering their services. It sounded like something a little unusual, a change from the regular evening routine. At worst, it may be an opportunity to feed on a goth chick. Those girls always made such an effort with their perfect hair and make up, and their dark and moody clothing. Aaron didn’t mind a bit of gothic rock, bands like Bauhaus, Joy Division, or Siouxsie and the Banshees that had sprung up during the back end of the 1970’s punk era. He’d been engaged in many heated discussions about whether the Misfits were punk, metal, goth, or all of the above, and whether groups like Nightwish were musical virtuosos or just a bag of ********.
At best, a trip to the Necropolis could be full of surprises, while also giving the drummer an opportunity to casually promote the next gig of his band, Breaking Bad. However, Aaron couldn’t have imagined the surprise that had been delivered like a brand new bike on Christmas morning. One of the “slaves” up for auction was Kaspar, a recent acquaintance of Aaron’s.
Kaspar was also a musician, a singer with talent to spare. Yet here he was, opening himself up for judgement like a contestant on
American Idol. Once Aaron had curbed his laughter, there was only one thing to do – bid on Kaspar. But wait, how about adding a twist, mixing in a little spice to the dish? Grabbing his phone, Aaron fired off a quick text message, then made his way towards the club’s entrance. If he placed the bids, presumably Kaspar would see, and consider it to be some kind of friendly joke. Aaron needed an accomplice.
Within minutes, Aaron returned from his brief excursion, with his thrall,
Poppy, by his side. The plan was simple: Poppy would place the bids while Aaron smirked in the background.
“I bid $2,000,” said the red-haired human.
