Passing by, Amaranthia placed her seal upon the auction card, marking it as accepted and approved. Then another, opening it for the bidding.

It was time for the Necropolis Auction. Last year, Dawnie got a wild hair and put herself up for auction. Mortll won her, and to Doc delight, the tasks that Mortll gave Dawnie killed any desire to ever put herself in the position to someone’s unpaid slave. That said, yes Doc was averse to having his spawn as slaves, but that didn’t mean he, himself, would not vote on people. So that was how he found himself at the Necropolis,he was there to see who was on auction and if any of them, would be worth his time.

A crossfit trainer. He was about to pass the card by, when a thought struck him. A crossfit trainer. Yes. This could work. Doc smirked his usual close lipped grin. As he wrote his bid in.

“$1,000.00 - Dr. Charles Nilson.”

In his youth, these kind of auctions had been a way to spice up the tired charity collection process. It wasn’t the first time he’d offered himself up at such an occasion, though usually the crowd of bidders was a sea of familiar faces. Derek took notice of the cursory glances strangers cast his way, but struggled to find ways to connect with them. He watched as people walked by without bidding, and felt no offence. The night was young, and he felt confident he wouldn’t be overlooked. It was admittedly a very different experience being auctioned to strangers than familiars; far less fun, a lot more nerve-racking.

When an older gentleman placed a bid on him, Derek bowed his head in acknowledgement and restrained gratitude.
The smile on his face accentuated his boyish features.

"5,000"

Michael smirks at Doc, his smile just a teensy bit sharp. "Hello Charlie, old Chap. Looking pretty healthy for a dead man."

Doc gave the male a passive closed lip smile that never reached his eyes, "Porter." he looked him up and down, "I must say you are looking well yourself. Being someone's ***** obviously suits you."

Doc lifted his hand, dryly adding,"$7500.00"

Michael laughed, just a small sound, more a chuckle really as he wagged his finger at his ex-colleague. His expression was just a little superior.

"Ah you were never really good at reading the fine print. That's a very bad habit for a doctor. But then again, you were always much better at killing the patients, than healing them."

"Bids are 5,000 max old man... we're going to wage this bidding battle one teeny bid drip at a time." Pausing for effect Michael's grin widened to something almost gamine. "Would you like to try that bid again?"

"Actually, Porter, perhaps you should reread the instructions. It can be $5,000. Can. Not must." He gives Porter a bored look. "So, no, I do not wish to change it."

Michael shrugs. "Whatever. Then I win cause you're a stubborn git who is wrong and doesn't want to admit it. It's max bid 5,000 you tosser. Your bid is going to get thrown out."

Giving Charles a look Michael wiggles his fingers at him. "Oh, I see that chick-a-dee you were trying to save that night is up on auction. You plan on buying that and feeding her a little Charlie love sausage?"

"12,500"

"Come on Charlie, commit some real money or get the **** out of the bidding. Lets get this beast up to 50,000 and then we can really have fun."
