Veratia sighs softly as she looks up at the sky, grimacing gently. Adjusting her purse slightly, she wanders into the Station Net Cafe. Sitting down at a table, she orders a small coffee, rubbing her neck gently. "Right...lovely time to be attacked." She mutters, shaking her head.

She pulls out her phone, biting her lip gently as she opened one of her favorite apps. A puzzle game...one she enjoyed very much. She loved puzzles...it was something she always enjoyed. Looking up, she smiled as her coffee was put in front of her, before going back to her game.

Stupid...random attacks. Why did that person have to go and target me of all people?" She asks, grimacing gently. For five years she had stayed hidden, and now she was back...and not believing the truth. "Whatever..." She mutters, taking a small drink of her coffee. "At least I'm alive..."

[Charlie]

“Amen to that,” Charlie cuts in, smile wide as she leans her chair dangerously back to glance at the stranger. Talking to oneself is a sign of intelligence they say, and she agrees. Well, partially; she isn't quite following. “It’s all about staying alive, staying alive, ah ha ha ha, staying ali—whoa!”

The chair threatens to tip backwards, forcing her to slam its front legs none too lightly onto the ground. BeeGees act cut short, it’s with a sheepish smile that she reappears into the stranger’s field of vision, this time dutifully inching the chair back, just enough.

“You wouldn’t have a spare dollar I can borrow, aye? I’m short seventy cents,” she asks, flashing a wide grin. There is a bigger bill in her pocket, but she doesn’t want to break it. Places like these, what with their computers and arcade games, tend to give back far too much jingly change. Charlie isn’t in the mood to carry out fistfuls of coins, though she might find it amusing given her inebriated state. It isn’t alcohol that she’s indulged in, else it would noticeably radiate off her; it is one too many brownies she’d been offered before leaving the hostel.

Veratia glances over at the other person, raising an eyebrow gently. "Er...not on me, no." She says, tilting her head a little. "Why do you ask?" She was interested in this woman...that was for sure. At least...she hoped she wasn't too hungry. "Sorry I'm not able to help." She says, chuckling a little.

Looking back to her phone, she turns it off quickly, before putting it back into her pocket. "I'm Veratia, by the way." She says, offering her hand with a gentle smile. She was...kind of hoping to get to know this woman. Despite knowing what she was...well, it felt nice to try and deny who she was.

Rats! Charlie’s smile falters. She’ll have to break a larger bill then, maybe throw another smoothie to cut down on the amount of loose change they give back. Does she really need another smoothie though? She’s barely managed to finish the one before her, condensation making a mess of the table. It’s all a matter of calculations and restraint, neither of which she’s particularly adept at in this given state. Picking up the tall glass, she bites down on the straw and slurps noisily. It’s melted substantially, but still difficult to get at. Vanilla tastes so much better when she's high.

“That’s—latin, isn’t it?” she asks, extending her own hand as she switches the tall glass into her non-dominant one. Never had she taken particular interest in languages, but her interest in science has all manner of random facts stuffed into her neurones. Her grip is firm, but her fingers are cold from holding the smoothie (a bit wet too). She disengages and shakes out her hand sheepishly, “Ah, sorry about that, mate. Name’s Charlie. Pleasure.”

She laughs softly, smiling gently. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Charlie." She says, winking. "Anyways...not sure what my name is, really." She pauses, before looking up with a small frown. Shaking her head, she looks down at her phone again for a moment, before putting it away.

"Do you like puzzle games?" She asks with a small smile. She enjoyed her puzzles...she hoped this woman was too. If she was, than she could talk to her about the puzzles she's been wanting to make for a while...thirty piece cube, ten piece diamond...many puzzles she loved.

Charlie’s spent far too much time staring at a computer screen for the day. To say she’s starved for human interaction might be an overstatement, yet she’s eager to make this woman’s acquaintance to break from the monotony she’s otherwise subjected herself what with all her ‘research’.

“Uh,” —she pauses, not entirely sure what to say to that. “I’ve never really thought about it? I guess it depends… why?”
