Urban Legends of Harper Rock...

Our characters have done things throughout the history of the game that people might have taken notice of. So, I invite you to share the urban legends here that may have arisen from their actions. Maybe they don't lead to story-lines by themselves, but they could be mentioned by others as filler material for flavor in their RP or they could ignite a thread if a party is interested in them.

Tossing a couple of examples out there:

A hoary urban legend. Not the normal Bloody Mary, universally known and accepted, but a localized and meaningful one. If you go into the abandoned farmhouse you and yours are doomed. The family who lived there before died under mysterious circumstances. The land was purchased by a man, a local tattooist who disappeared shortly after. Apparently he left it to a tattoo model who still survives, but she isn’t the type to bother with a farm so she likely hasn’t been out there, right?

Then there was the story of four college kids who went urban exploring. Two of them were brutally murdered the night after they did, one several weeks later committed suicide and the fourth went insane. He was committed by his parents to an asylum, Winterbrook by name.

The farmhouse still stands. It seems not to be abandoned anymore. Since the whole incident the tattoo model has decided to rent the property it seems. The new renter of the land, he seems well off. Attractive, he’s a local man apparently, a small business owner. He runs a vermin removal service and is an avid hunter. Perhaps that is why he wanted the land. Hunting.

Some say it’s only a matter of time before the farm claims him as it’s next victim. Others whisper that he is the evil of the place come home to roost.

----

Within the abandoned factory near the University sounds are sometimes heard at night. Some report hearing screams coming from the building. A few intrepid explorers have ventured in but found nothing amiss. Except the stain. On the concrete floor are three stains which could only be blood. The basement is marked as off limits and the only person to have ventured down ended up needing medical treatment from several wounds caused presumably by rusty remnants of the machinery that once built repair parts for the boats of the Great Lakes.

Now it sits destitute, no sign of life from within other than a single member of the criminal underworld who sometimes meets there with clients to pedal his ill-gotten goods.

Yet still the rumors of sounds in the dark persist.

----

Near the outskirts of the city lies a camp ground. Nothing could be more normal than this place. Except that entire families who go there on off-seasons just... disappear. No one knows what happened to them. They vanish. People who know them report nothing amiss at last contact and then they are gone. Nothing at the campsite shows any sign of a struggle or anything else unusual except the trees... there are claw marks in the trees nearby no local animal could have made.

---

So, in the interest of flavor, please add your own!! Could be anything! Everything is fair game.

Hoping this spurs on some of the "UFO and Ghost Seekers" brought about from the results of the chapter before Territories. :)

Plus it could give HR more flavor.

There's this story, archived from 2012:

It affected the City alert level and most certainly could have caused some urban legend to spin off.
