Player Housing
Apartments
- "Apartments" is the term often used to describe player-owned housing of small to moderate size. They do not have their own main-world grid square, and instead go in apartment buildings and similar. They can be crypts, dwellings (in sewers), or apartments.
Apartments are a set layout, usually consisting of one main 4 x 4 room, with one or two slightly smaller rooms coming off the sides of it. They vary in price, but are typically $300,000 in-game dollars (or 15 karma). Apartments are fully customisable in terms of graphics, music, and lair invitations, but you cannot alter the shape of your apartment. You can however add a second floor (a mirror image of the first) for karma if your apartment only has one level. All apartments, crypts and dwellings can be automatically obtained by walking up to the home and clicking buy, and usually require no help from the development team.
For a list of currently available apartments, crypts and dwellings, please go to a computer terminal and click "Real Estate". Alternatively, you can go direct to the Real Estate page via the 'Navigation' drop-down menu on the grid.
Lairs
- "Lairs" refers to player housing that is placed on the main world map. They are usually shown in Purple. They are much bigger than apartments, and can be up to a max size of 12 x 12 squares. Full lairs are also custom-built specifically for your needs, so they can be any shape, be in any location on the main map, be any name you wish, and can have many extras.
Lairs cost 75 karma because there are only a certain number of main grid world map squares available, and having dozens of them would leave no room in the city for anything else. As with apartments, lairs can be decorated as you wish, and have their own music playlists for each area. Lairs also have their own private chat rooms that you can use to host live IC roleplay events.
Please note, you may also purchase or create public areas such as nightclubs, cafes, casinos, libraries, and similar. You will still get to decorate these as you see fit.
Lair purchase is not automatic, as it requires a few details from the party(s) interested, as follows:
- 1) Owner's in-game name.
2) Lair name.
3) Desired location of lair.
4) State if the lair is public (red building) or private (purple buildings).
5) A map of the general layout so I know what shape to build it.
6) Details of extras, such as more floors, terminals, or sewer exits.
You may now own as many lairs per character as you wish.
If you are interested in a lair, you should PM Azraeth before buying the karma to let them know your plans so they can check if they would work.
Towns
- Towns cost 350 karma.
Own a town situated near Harper Rock, named practically anything of your choosing.
Towns can be a maximum of 5 city blocks by 5 city blocks, or 25 squares (which ever you prefer).
Your town will be connected to Harper Rock's rail network.
Towns can include anything that you can find in Harper Rock. Shops, banks, b&e buildings, an NPC battle area, etc.
Your town can include one major private lair, or a tower with auto-spawning apartments designed by yourself (in terms of shape).
Your town can include 3 additional red public buildings which players can enter (not including the NPC battle area or the lair / tower). These can be restaurants, libraries, town halls... anything.
Your NPC battle area can be populated by enemies designed by yourself, as long as they fit canon (we'll discuss your ideas and find something that fits). These enemies can be as strong or as weak as you like, and will give rewards appropriate to their strength level.
You'll have full control to decorate your town as you see fit, just as you would with a lair.
Towns also come with a sewer system underground, which will spawn rats.
Your town will have a small wilderness area around it which will spawn animals and plants at a rate proportionately similar to Harper Rock.
