Gauging Interest - Murder Mystery Event

The Necro's anniversary is coming up so we want to throw a bit of a bash. We have some events in mind, but there's one in particular we want to gauge interest in.
It would be begin around April 22 (or that weekend) and most likely be a forum thread.
The event itself is Murder Mystery party.
Each attendee/participant (depending on interest) would be given a character/role and asked to remain in that role for the entire evening. They would be supplied with a bit about the character beforehand.
Throughout the thread, after the murder is revealed, they'd be given further clues and information. The person who's the murderer would not know they're playing the murderer until the event began.
Any of the secret clues or information given to a character would be only for that person to know. There would be some information given to characters that would be revealed by them throughout the night.
Depending on the number of people interested in playing roles, I can see this working one of two ways:
1) Everyone attending plays a role and each character is trying to figure out who did it.
2) Those not playing specific roles (ie: the audience) would be welcome to ask the characters questions, much like an investigator would, to try to figure out who did it, while the characters are also trying to figure out which of them is the murderer.
Someone's already offered to play the victim.
But is there any interest in this?
