NPC Updates Part 2
Posted: 29 Mar 2016, 18:50
Continuing the updates to balance out the NPC battle areas and integrate the chapter consequences into the game, today we've made the catacombs area a fair amount harder and more rewarding, in order to put it roughly on-par with the sirens in the caverns.
Ancient zombies are now roughly on-par with encantado workers, and give the same XP bonus. Mooncalfs are now as strong as Lesser Jorogumos, and give the same XP bonus. In addition, there are also now Greater Mooncalfs which spawn in the catacombs, which roughly compare to the shamans. However, because the undead do not use firearms, they are generally a little easier for many players to defeat, which is why Greater Mooncalfs do not give as large an XP reward as shamans, but it's still quite close.
Both of these areas are now recommended for characters between the levels of 20 and 35, or there abouts. As the catacombs gives better loot, it becomes a choice of slightly harder enemies VS slightly less valuable loot.
As with the Triads gaining more of a foothold in last week's gangland slums update, there is a story-related RP reason for the undead in the catacombs getting stronger, so feel to roleplay your characters noticing this if you wish. However, I can't reveal the exact reason to you yet. You'll find out during the next chapter.
If possible this week we'll be adding two new areas: one for the Helheim soldiers, and one for the Disciples of Crow.
