Idle Thoughts Are The Devil's Plaything

Dhara: "When are you going to make an honest woman of me, Rhett?” She teased him with a wink and a grin in his direction.

Rhett Keyes: Rhett glances around the small apartment they were in, taking in the size and layout as he continued their conversation. "An honest woman? Hmmm.” Rhett rubs his five o'clock shadow as he ponders. “You`re the most honest woman, make that, person...I know.” The tall male gives her a slow grin

Dhara: “Well, I told someone we were engaged. That makes me a liar. You should fix it.” Snickers and cuddles close to him.

Rhett Keyes: "I should? Living in sin isn't all that bad either though”... He grins wider, eyes still on Dhara.

Dhara: hands him his key. “Living in sin is fun. Of course, we bought this place together. You’re stuck for sure now.” Smiles up at him, sliding an arm around his waist.

Rhett Keyes: He takes the keys and sets them down on a surface near them. “You know if we just get married...you'd not be a liar. Everyone will assume we were engaged to begin with. Your honor and all that other stuff will remain in tact.” Rhett shrugged a little as he stared down at her.

Dhara: Wrapped her arms around him with a chuckle, “What? Like sneak off to Vegas and elope?"

Rhett Keyes: "Vegas seems a little cliche, don't you think?” Rhett would shrug again as he thought about it. “Not quite my style...a little too fake for my tastes. But maybe something close."

Dhara: Blinks up at him, doing her best impression of an owl “ Are you serious? I mean... we could. Yes, we really could do something like that."

Rhett Keyes: "Yeah, I hate Vegas.” The dark haired male chuckled to keep from smirking.

Dhara: "*laughed and nudged him* I`ve never been. It doesn't seem like my kind of place."

Rhett Keyes: "Yeah. Me either. It looks too over the top from what I've seen on the three commercials I've seen in my life span.” He gave into that grin now, “ I'm serious though. Hate to make you a liar."

Dhara: "I hate to be a liar.” She chuckles and looks up at him, slipping her hand into his and tugging him towards the small platform bed in the corner. “Let's go to bed."

-Next Night-

Rhett Keyes: Rhett was, as usual, awake a few hours after the sun set. Typically his time to wake seemed anywhere from an hour and a half later, to just under three. Tonight had been a little over two hours. He rolled on his side to where he remembered where Dhara had fallen asleep after stretching out and filling his lungs with air.

Dhara: One amber eye opened, then the other, and her first action was to blow a lock of hair from her eyes. Her head slowly turned and a smile curved her lips when she saw him there. "Good morning." She said, her sleepy voice was husky and thick with her German accent. Her eyes still held the haze of sleep, slowly clearing as she looked at him.

Rhett Keyes: "Morning. Night-but morning." Rhett chuckled as he propped up on his elbow and looked down at Dhara. He knows and remembers all too well the conversation from last night. Still, Rhett wasn't going to be the first to say a single thing. He thought last night wasn't cool on his end. He never thought about getting married at all-or ever, but somehow he didn't think just subtly suggesting it and being casual about it was the right way. But it didn't mean he wasn't serious. "Think I'm going to shower." Rhett said as he pulled the covers off his body.

Dhara: "All alone?" She teased, reaching out and pulling him back in bed. She rolled on him with a grin, her pink hair creating a curtain as she touched her nose to his. "What about living in sin first?" She remembered the conversation, too, but wasn't sure if he meant it about sneaking off and getting married.

Rhett Keyes: Rhett was back on the bed with Dhara on him and he was looking up at her. A hand moved to tuck her cascading hair behind her ear and then laughed. "Isn't that the best way to live?" He laughed as his hand landed on her cheek and rested there. Rhett inched up to kiss Dhara's lips, then rolled them both off the bed with a chuckle, making sure their fall to the ground was soft as he put an arm out to take most the fall on the bare floor. "I'm never against the idea of you keeping me company."

Dhara: She returned the kiss and leaned in to his touch, rolling to the floor with him, his body cushioning the fall. "I love keeping you company." She kissed him again, then stretched out a leg, her bare toes touching the floor, she yelped and pulled back, curling on top of him. "We need area rugs. That floor is like ice!"

Rhett Keyes: "Then we best get a move on with our night." Rhett told Dhara in a determined voice as he got up, scooped the petite woman up off the ground and wrapped her legs around his waist as he took them both into the shower. "Though, I could think of a different way to warm you up quicker." He eyed Dhara as the corners curled up into a smirk.

Dhara: "There you go with all that sinful talk again." Her legs tightened around his waist and she found there was a great benefit to sleeping naked. Her soft lips brushed his neck, teasing his skin lightly. "I like it." Her nails traced down his back, indicating she was all for his way of warming up.

Rhett Keyes: SHe knew. Dhara remembered. Rhett knew it when she mentioned their sinful way of living. He knew she was joking, but he also wondered if she was dead serious from last night. "Yeah, I don't mind living in sin too." Was that what Dhara meant? Rhett pondered as he put the woman down on her feet before turning on the shower tap.

Dhara: She moved to the sink as he started the shower, brushing her teeth. Normally she'd watch her reflection, but since she didn't have one, she turned around and watched him instead. Her thoughts were easy to read in her amber colored eyes. She loved him, she loved being with him, and even though she had yet to say it out loud, she wouldn't mind taking the next step. The thought didn't make her want to run away from him. But instead of saying any of it, she just watched him. Then rinsed the toothpaste from her mouth before asking "What's on your mind?"

Rhett Keyes: Rhett was fiddling with the tap, setting the water temperature to just the way the pair of them liked it while Dhara brushed her teeth. When she asked what was on his mind, Rhett spun his attention to Dhara and then shrugged. "Area rugs and other purchases." He confessed, his eyes narrowing. "And stuff from last night." He sighed and then rubbed at the back of his neck. "I'm wondering why you told that guy that stuff. I'm not mad-it's just kind of one of those things where I feel I got robbed. It's not really a surprise to you-the idea of being engaged. I'm not mad, I just feel short changed a little. Or like a bum. I didn't know you had been thinking about that. You said at Jesse-you know. You seemed to not want that sort of thing. I just figured this was going to be and I'm fine with that too. Marriage or not." Rhett propped a shoulder against the wall and looked at Dhara standing in front of the sink.

Dhara: She leaned on the sink and smiled faintly, her head tilted as she watched him. "Actually, if you proposed it would be a surprise." She held up her hand, showing she'd moved her ring back to the right hand. "I said it to that guy because there's a history there. And I'm trying to be nice. To be a good person and be a friend. But I also don't want him thinking that the past will repeat itself." She brushed her hair from her eyes, her face serious. "I love you Rhett, and I love what we have. Marriage or no marriage, I just want to be with you. And I am sorry I used you like that."

Rhett Keyes: "Well," Rhett started out. "Like I said, I'm not mad or anything. I'm just trying to be on the same page as you, Dhara. I just assumed off things said that we weren't going down that path. Which didn't make me feel one way or another. I thought it made some sense. Maybe you'll live a lot longer than me, or we'll just grow apart." Rhett crossed his arms at his chest. "Forever could be centuries. People just don't know, you know?" He shrugged a little. "But, I was serious about what I said last night." The guy admitted with a small grin on his features.

Dhara: She couldn't help the twinge of guilt. She didn't have a right to use their relationship like that. "I am sorry." She said it softly, honestly. "I guess we're both guilty of assuming things, because I felt the same. That we weren't going down that path. I suppose we've never seriously talked about the long term. We just... we wanted to live together. So we did. We wanted an apartment, so we bought one. We've never really talked about forever, or anything." She paused and drew a breath, ready to launch into another apology, when the last of his words slipped into her head. He was serious. About getting married. To her. The air left her in a small squeak of excitement, her shoulders going straight and her eyes lighting up as if he'd placed stars in the amber orbs. "Serious?" It was another squeak and about all she could manage, finding she was holding her breath. If her heart could beat, it would have been racing.

Rhett Keyes: Rhett knew Dhara didn't have a vicious bone in her body and when she was sorry-she meant it, much like him. He wasn't mad-he doubted he could ever be mad at Dhara. Ever. Or for more than a couple seconds. If she did something-the intentions were good, even if things played out not so good. He nodded his head in agreement with the next things Dhara said. he had assumed it, she wasn't wrong. "I'm serious. The thought was well placed-what you said and did. I get it. Just took me off surprise and no way am I having you be a liar. You're not a liar. I understand why you did and said what you did and said." He chuckled and then shook his head. He sounded like an idiot."Look, I'm happy with what we have now. Maybe it won't last forever, but I'd rather do this than not do it and wonder. You know?" the warm water was starting to cloud the mirror in the bathroom and change the air quality in it too-not that it would bother either of them. Rhett could just inhale the difference.

Dhara: She pushed off the sink and padded quietly over to him. Her tiny hands slid into his and she looked up at him with those large eyes. "You've confused me." She admitted softly, a smile on her lips. "I'm pretty sure you said we should get married... but I could be wrong and I don't want to assume. So... let's try this again hm?"

Rhett Keyes: Rhett looked down at her hands in his and then chuckled. "I did say that. I mean, i want to get married. To you. I don't want to miss the opportunity, even if it's only for ten years, twenty, one hundred." Rhett's eyes moved off their hands and to her face. "Dhara, I don't have a ring right now, but I'll get one. You'll get one. It's not a perfect proposal, I know." He admitted with a small laugh. "But we're perfect together in this imperfect life and current scenario." Rhett shook his head. "I sort of suck at this impromptu thing." Rhett laughed. "Will you marry me to make this life that's imperfect-perfect?" His eyes narrowed as Rhett stood there, waiting, after he exhaled the air from his lungs.

Dhara: Her hands tightened on his and her face lit up. "I don't think you suck. And I don't need a ring. All I need is you. So yes. I don't want to miss this chance. Yes Rhett. I will marry you." She let out a small squeal of happiness and flung her arms around him with a laugh of pure joy.

Rhett Keyes: Her excitement lifted Rhett's current feelings about his proposal-or sort of proposal.Dhara was the kindest soul he had ever met and her words washed over Rhett in a way no others words could have. He inhaled when Dahra agreed and then exhaled sharply. "Okay. Good." He chuckled sounding nervous still. "I was a little afraid." Rhett pressed his lips down to Dharas. "Now then...where are we going?" He asked the pink haired pixie in front of him with his unwavering gaze on Dhara's face. "No Vegas." Reminded Dhara with a solid sounding laugh.

Dhara: She laughed softly. "Well right now, we are going to hop in the shower." She grinned and stepped into the just right spray and beckoned him to join her. "When do you want to get married?" She looked at her hands and then slid off the silver and sapphire ring he'd given her for Christmas. She slipped it on to her left hand and looked up at him with a smile. "Is this okay? I love this ring. You made it."

Rhett Keyes: Right. The shower. Rhett was obviously all too comfortable with being naked around his gir-wife to be. He had forgotten where they were and what they were supposed to be doing. "Soon. Immediately. WHy wait? Unless you want to." Rhett said as he turned and put Dhara in the shower, then entered in after her. He saw the exchange of positioning of the ring and then nodded his head . "I had hoped to make you a better one by now-but somethings are hard to acquire for a couple reasons.” Rhett was still pretty weak in terms of vampire.

Dhara: She shrugged, her fingers stroking over the simple ring. "I think it's perfect." She said quietly, the love for him could be heard in her voice, and then she lifted her eyes up to him. "The sooner the better I think. Unless you want some big fancy affair? I don't. I don't need any of that. Just you."

Rhett Keyes: Rhett didn't want or need something fancy. Who would he invite? Not his parents or ex-coworker. Not Fforde. Jesse would probably come but he would bring Clover and anyone else seemed to be in their own world, as much as he and Dhara were. "Just you and me sounds good. Oh and a JP or whatever they're called wherever we end up going." Rhett applied some soap in his hand and slowly worked tender, but semi-eager touches to Dhara's body as they stood in the shower. "Let's blow this popsicle stand and get out of dodge for the next week or so." Rhett offered with a small shrug of his shoulders, his hands still roaming.

Dhara: She leaned in to his eager touch, finding that the warmth spreading through her body had nothing to do with the hot spray that poured over them both. She looked up at him with a grin, pouring some soap in her hands and giving his body the same treatment. "We could get married on a beach in Italy if you wanted? Or beside the Grand Canyon? We could even go to Hawaii if you wanted. So many choices."

Rhett Keyes: All those places sound nice, or maybe they were just okay and what was really on his mind sounded nice and made everything else sound as good as the thoughts roaming in his mind. "So long as it's not during the day." He chuckled a little, his body responding in the same manner Dhara's was. "Hawaii-never been. But it's on my bucket list. Only...now we aren't going to kick that any time soon." Rhett pondered, still thinking Hawaii to be the better choice. "It's a lot closer that Italy. Maybe the Grand Canyon." That had to be closer than Hawaii-and not wanting to risk being exposed as a vampire and being killed because of the sun while traveling, Rhett had decided the closer, the better.

Dhara: "Then Hawaii or Arizona...." Her hands slid up his chest and she stood on her toes. Her hands linked behind his neck and she pulled his lips down to hers to kiss him, suggesting as she pressed closer that they could discuss it after a shower that was hot in more ways that one.

Rhett Keyes: He was sitting on the corner of their bed, damp hair sticking to his forehead before Rhett would get off the bed at some point, dry his hair a little more and set it in it's usual style. He looked over at Dhara after tugging his t-shirt over his head and pulled it down to cover the rest of his body. "Are we going surfing, or bungee jumping?" He asked, wondering if she would get what he was getting at, though Rhett was sure Dhara would. "Have you been to either place?" He inquired before shooting his towel in a basket in their room; clothes that were meant to be washed, but hadn't gotten around to. Yet. It reminded him to start a load before they left. Before he even went to work later tonight.

Dhara: "Surfing." She said with excitement. Her steps were silent as she joined him, rubbing a towel of her pale pink curls, amber eyes locked on his face. "I love to surf. And I have never been to Hawaii. Have you been to Arizona?" Her towel joined his and she stepped in to her underthings, before turning to him with her usual long black skirt in her hands. "Do you surf?"

Rhett Keyes: Rhett laughed and then shook his head. "Nope. Not been to either one, I'm afraid." Rhett admitted with a small shrug. "And...no. Never surfed. I don't think we can surf in Canada." Rhett wasn't sure, actually, but he never heard of anyone surfing. Then again, Rhett missed a lot of 'fun' things while he was alive. "You any good at it? Surfing?" Rhett asked, trying to imagine Dhara on a surf board-but once he imagined her in a two piece, surfing was the last thing o the guy's mind.

Dhara: "I practically lived on a surf board when we lived in Australia. It was so freeing. I'll teach you to surf. I mean, if we go to Hawaii. It's to cold to surf here." She tugged on her skirt, followed by a tunic and her braided belt. Her hair still wet, she joined him on the bed. "We should play hooky from work and leave tonight. Don't you think?"

Rhett Keyes: Rhett figured as much. The surfing bit. When Dhara mentioned playing hooky...he was weighing those options. He had never played hooky before. Not with any job, not as any vampire or human. "Hmm." Rhett said rubbing at his job. "I'd like to." He started out..."BUt I don't think we can both afford to get fired. Even one of us." There he was again. The regular, careful, cautious Rhett pre-vampire days. "GOt any sick time? Could use some of that up. And some vacation if you have any of that too..." Rhett trailed off, eyes on the beauty next to him.

Dhara: Her head tilted and she looked at him with a small smile, then reached for his hand. "Running off to elope means running off. It takes the fun out of it if you plan." She smiled, leaning forward to kiss his cheek before sliding off the bed. "I'll put in for time tonight. We can leave in a couple days if that works for you." She rummaged around in box, trying to find some socks. "Really ought to finish unpacking..."

Rhett Keyes: Rhett had never run off before. But Dhara hadn't led him astray so far. And so what if he got fired? He was sure he could find another job pretty quickly. So could Dhara if she had to, too. Rhett was sure of it. "No. You're right." He nodded his head and then stood up. "No time to unpack when we need to get packing." Rhett nodded his head, grabbed a mid-sized duffle bag and start filling the bag with pants, socks, boxers, t-shirts. "Probably-no I will need to buy a suit when we get there. I think my suit is at least five years old and who knows if it even first anymore." Rhett looked over at Dhara, giving her a wide grin. "Come on, let's get out of this place sooner than later. Before someone suspects something is up." Not that they would, he supposed, but saying that might get them out of here sooner and on their way to enjoying what they could of Hawaii.

Dhara: She turned with some socks in her hand and smiled at him. "You can wear whatever you want." With an excited laugh, she began gathering her clothing and shoving it in her own satchel, excitement in her every move. She was running off to Hawaii with the man she adored. Even if he got cold feet in the end and they ended up surfing hand hanging out in the villages instead of getting married, she would revel in the small victory of getting Rhett to be impulsive.

Rhett Keyes: "What if I don't want to wear anything?" He said as Rhett pulled out a couple shirts from the closet, chuckling softly. "Kidding. At least while we're getting hitched. Do people still call it that? Hitched?" Rhett zipped up his bag and put the hangers on the bed. Normally he would put them all away right away, but since they weren't going to be home…

Dhara: "I think they do?" She shoved the last of her things in a bag and began combing her hair. Normally she'd take the time to dry it, maybe even run a flat iron over it, but tonight, she just braided the pink curls and tied off the long braid. She moved over to his side and grinned. "Wear something while we get hitched, then we can just hide in the hotel and wear nothing for the rest of the time.

Rhett Keyes: Rhett picked up a plain black hat from off a dresser and put it over his hair. He didn't have time tonight, even if it took two or three minutes. Rhett draped an arm around Dhara's shoulders, the hand attached to that arm coming to rest not too far away from the mounds of her curves before he nodded at the suggetion. "That works for me. Maybe. Maybe not while surfing either." He chuckled and then moved to grab his bag by the handles. "Come on, let's go get hitched." He said with a small bump into his wife to be's side.

Dhara: She nestled into his side, contemplating what surfing naked would be like and decided she wasn't fond of the idea. "Yes, lets." She said with another laugh. She paused by the dresser and pulled out a small pouch, then offered it to him. "A little something for our honey moon..." She said with a grin. In the pouch was about three grand US, that she had been squirreling away for years.

Rhett Keyes: Rhett looked inside the pouch Dhara gave to him and then whistled. "You know, this was sort of my idea...maybe this should be on my tab?" Rhett wasn't uber rich by any means, but three grand seemed like a lot of money for her to toss into things being he surprised her. "How about fifty-fifty for everything?" Three grand probably wouldn't cover all of the trip but it would cover most of it, he thought. At least the tickets there, the hotel and some fun cash. "Like our relationship. Fifty-fifty say." He shrugged as he put the pouch in his front left pocket for safe keeping, while they moved to the elevator.

Dhara: "Deal." She agreed. She knew the tickets and hotel would take all of her small savings and then some. But being the travelling bard, she also knew how to have a great time on very little money. So as they headed off towards the airport, she called and arranged for a hotel, and even asked about last minute wedding arrangements. She found the idea of a beach wedding lit by the moon and stars to be incredibly romantic.

Rhett Keyes: With that settled, Rhett was going to sit back and relax now. Whatever she; whatever they wanted, he would make sure they got, when the pair arrived in Hawaii, even if it took a small portion of his savings. People generally got married just once, right? Maybe. Maybe not, but Rhett hoped that this was their deal. or at least his deal. He couldn't imagine life without Dhara-but knew things happened. He had a divorced mother living next to him growing up, a single dad behind their house and two people across the street that never got married and simply just lived together until a decade or so went by. It was life and Rhett accepted all the things about life-what it tossed you. When they got to the airport-Rhett handed Dhara her passport, and kept his in his hand as they progressed to the customs. they would be temporarily separated to get their passports checked and then Rhett would be at her side once Dhara passed the check. "No turning back now." Rhett said with a grin.
