New season and new beginnings (Ursula)

Renee breathed in and out deeply before she slowly opened her eyes. The apartment still smelled of the sage she had burned the night before. It seemed she had fallen asleep as she mediated, but to be fair as the sun would come up she could not fight the torpor that would take hold. She would need to meet her sister soon for the ritual they were to preform tonight. Excitement filled as she thought of it, though she did not know what was truly in store for this evening. She trusted that her sister was not going to lead her into anything too dangerous or anything that they could not handle, at least not for her first time. She chuckled to herself as the thought of them having to fight more fae together came to mind. If they ended up in the shadow realm at least it would be together. Yin and yang together as it were.

She slowly stood and stretched from her spot in the floor. Sleeping in the sitting position was never fun as a human and it seemed that didn't change as a vampire either. At least the meditation had kept the fae from her dreams that day. She would need to practice that more to see if it really helped or was just a random act of kindness on their behalf. Though it was possible that were just waiting for tonight. The thought came to her that if tonight was as powerful a night as her sister had said that perhaps the fae too would be more powerful. She shook the thought from her mind. There was no time for that and she needed to be in balance for the ritual.

She made her way back to the bathroom and started the water. She lit was was left of the sage before she entered the shower and let the hot water flow over her cold body. As the water fell she visualized any of the negative thoughts of this evening fall with them and spiral down the drain. After she bathed she stepped out of the shower and was engulfed in the mix of smoke and steam that had built up in the closed room. She felt ready for the night now. She quickly dressed into one of her new creations. Black leggings and a white strapless baby doll dress. Her hair was still in dreads so she simply bundled them up into a large bun, though a few strands hung near her face. She used her camera on her laptop to quickly put on some eye liner. She finished with some black sandals.

She grabbed her jacket and wrapped it around her as she entered the night air. There was still a chill in the air but the cold did not effect her any longer. The jacket was simply so that she did not receive the odd looks from most of the humans she passed. She boarded the train and took it to her stop in silence, focusing on keeping herself in balance. It wasn't long before the train pulled until the station and she stepped back out into the cool air. As she made her way to the sewers entrance, she had to stop and admire the beauty of the moon this evening. Hopefully it would be a clue of the night to come. Beautiful. After a quick run through the sewers she exited close to her sister's apartment building. She made her way through the doors and quickly into the elevator. The ride was fast and she was knocking on her sister's door eagerly.

It was the night before the Spring Equinox and Ursa stood at the window looking out at the night as soft snow flurries drifted down towards the street, however, as with Spring's coming arrival, it was just too warm for the snow to stick. And she was sure that the snow would be more like melted sleet before it even reached the first floor of the Corvidae Flats of which she lived on the fourth floor. She placed a bare hand against the frosted glass and wasn't shocked that the glass around her hand stayed as it was. No, with her in the vampire world now, she did not have the required body heat to cause the frosted glass to form an outline of her hand with more frost, as would normally happen if a hand at normal human temperature would do. Tonight it snowed, if the night of the Equinox snowed as will, they would have even more difficulty at casting the spell that she had planned for her and her sister.

With a final soft sigh, Ursa dropped her hand and turned towards the bar where she had a small bowl with dried sage rested. She was to do the same cleansing that she told her sister to do. The meditation and the sage to balance her out, and the rest of the sage would be to cleanse the apartment of negative energy. Granted, she could be seen as a negative energy because of the fact that she was a vampire, because she had a soul far darker than even those closest to her knew about. However, the cleanse she planned to do would just clear out the negative energy that was the cause of her recent sorrow. Cleanse herself of depression, of heartache and worry. Of fear. She was strong, strong because of her mother. Strong because of her father. Strong because of Jesse and Renee and Eric. She was strong because they all made her that way. She was a fighter, a warrior, she could, she would rise like a phoenix from the flames.

Ursa made her way towards the bowl of sage and slowly lifted it from the counter top, lifting it up to her nose so that she could breathe in the scent of it before she began to burn it. It was a relaxing scent, even when it wasn't burning. Now was the time. She turned and made her way over towards her alter. Her alter wasn't just one for the faeish rituals that she did since she came to this city. No, her alter was an alter to all the things she practiced. She was pagan, but she was also trained in Haitian voodou and it's more commonly know Louisiana Voodoo - thanks in no small part to her Uncle Shadow - And there was Hoodoo as well. However she was born, raised closer to that of the Celtic traditions because of her mother and aunt - both very powerful (her mother was, in fact, a high priestess) witches. So with all of her knowledge in the occult and their differences, she had trinkets for one and all the gods she prayed to.

Placing the bowl down in the space it always occupied as she lowered herself to her knees. Icy blue eyes turned towards the burning candle, its flames reflected in her darkness of her irises. Lifting the candle she tipped it over the sage, wax poured onto it but that would not hinder what was to come next. The flame touched the dried plant and it started to burn slowly as was the way of sage. Even dried, sage was slow to burn. The smoke began to rise in lacy whispers of clouds, and from her first breath, she could smell the fragrance in the air. Still on her knees, Ursa placed the candle back in it's holder and leaned in just enough to blow out the candle, watching as the smoke from that rose as well to blend in with that of the sage. Her eyes turned towards the sage once more and with a deep breath her eyes fluttered closed, her long, silky, black lashes brushed butterfly kisses along her cheeks as she took in another slow breath.

Wither her hands rested upon her thighs, her shoulders back, the rest of her relaxed, she breathed in deep. Once, twice, again and again. Each breath pulled her deeper into herself, pulled the sage deeper into her. Each breath relaxed her deeper and her mind first began to wander and then clear, to go blank and allowed her to focus on one thing, balance. Ursula stayed this way into the next morning. With only an hour left before the sun would rise, Ursa's eyes opened and she stood slowly, taking with her the bowl of sages, it still was burning, hours later. She walked to the north side of her apartment and began to chant quietly, one hand held the bowl while the other directed the wispy smoke towards the windows and doors with a gentle wave of her hand. This was an action she repeated to the east, to the south, to the west until she close the circle. She then walked back to her alter and set the bowl down, looking at the burning sage once more before she turned and headed into her bedroom. Her whole apartment now smelled of the relaxing herb.

The next night she woke, the sage still lingering in her room. She rose from her bed almost as soon as the sun had sunk beneath the horizon and cast Harper Rock in it's blanket of darkness. Ursa looked out the window for a moment before standing and making her way into her bathroom and towards the shower. Pulling the frosted glass open, she reached in and turned on the water, she left her hand in, feeling as the cool water began to warm. Granted, and cold shower would feel just as a warm one to her, but there was an added perk to taking a warm shower. If someone was to feel her skin just after a warm shower, she would feel almost mortal, almost human. It heated her through and through as if she were a cold blooded creature. And she was. In a way. Once the water was the perfect temperature, she stepped into the shower and under the stream of heated water. It soaked her raven locks, the red tips growing darker because of the water.

Though it seemed like she had been under that shower head for hours, it was only a matter of minutes, fifteen if one were to be keeping count. Fifteen minutes before she found herself wrapped in a warm towel, looking at the mirror - yes, a silly thing for her to have now given what she was, nothing starred back at her. She took a deep breath and walked away from the mirror, walking back into her room so that she could find what it was she planned to wear for the night. Whenever she planned to work spells, the answer was usually the same, but tonight, given that she was to be practicing once again with someone else - something she hadn't done since she had left home for Harper Rock. Tonight, it was time to try something a bit different. There was one thing thought that she would not part with. One thing that would always be with her on any magical working, no matter how mundane.

She pulled out the red cloak that she wore every time she did any magical working. It was a gift from her mother. The rest of the outfit was something closer to what she chose to wear when she went hunting for those in the caverns. Ursula then walked over to her drawers and pulled those open as well, pulling out some things to wear under her clothes. The bra simple, black, but lacy. The panties were the same. Then she was walking back over towards her closet, she puled a black tank top from it's hanger and slipped it on, running her hands down the front to smooth it out, over the red hourglass shape. And then she was pulling her pants from the hanger as well and slipping the red leather up her long legs and up over her hips, using the laces in the front to pull them shut. She was pulling on a black and red plaid sweater just as she heard the knock on her door.

Ursula walked out of her room and made her way to the door, pulling it open and smiling softly to her sister. "Come on in Renee, I'm almost ready." She said as she waved her sister in and then turned to head back to her bedroom to puck up the black leather boots she planned to wear and the cloak that she never did magic without. When she walked back into the living room she lay the cloak over the back of her couch and then sat down and began to put on her boots. "So, dearest sister mine, are you ready to welcome in the new season with me?" She asked with a bright smile, looking at her sister even as she laced up the leather boots, it was clear she wore these boots a lot because she didn't even have to look at them to lace them up.

She entered her sister's home as she watched her enter the other room. Her eyes looked around as she made her way to the sofa. Her eyes landed on the alter in the room and saw the ashes that were on it. Her sister must of meditated as well. Though as she thought about it it only made sense to her that she would They both had some negative thoughts and events that had happened to them in resent months. If they both were to preform the ritual, they would both need balance. She did wonder how often her sister preformed this little ritual of burning sage. It was a small ritual at least in her own mind.

Ursula returns with her signature red cloak that Renee had seen before and her boots. "Very much so, dearest sister of mine." She said with a small chuckle. Her eyes fell to her sister's boots and she had to admit she missed her dearly. She missed a lot of her clothes that she could no longer wear thanks to her new body and the fact that she had gone from five foot nothing to just shy of six. Her body measurements had changed as well. Clothes where easy to make new but good boots and comfortable corsets were difficult to come by unless you knew where to look.

"So what will we be doing this evening exactly? And I kind of assume it won't be in your apartment though I could 've severely wrong." Her knowledge of witchcraft was almost entirely based off what she had read on the internet and seen in movies. She wasn't exactly encouraged as a child to look up information on anything really. If it did not come from her father's month directly then it was surely blasphemy. Though once she had escaped she did learn that most ofwhat her had told them was so far from the truth it wasalmost laughable but definitely sad.
