Cedric Costello, today he called me out of the blue and asked me if I was pregnant. Honestly, I'd never heard such a ridiculous idea. What was he hoping I would say? That I was? I'm on the pill, not to mention that we used protection, I'm not such a fool to not be protected. As a business woman, I cannot afford to get pregnant, it’s not in my future as far as the eye can see. Perhaps he really was trying to get me back to Harper Rock, is he clingy? I hope not, it was just a one-night thing. Relationships are more of a hindrance really and I’m not looking for anything. At least not right now or ever.
As a woman, I doubt that I would be taken seriously if they thought that I was looking. The men respect me more because I’m ruthless and shrug off their attempts to lure me to their bed. It’s why I choose one-night stands with strangers, it’s far less complicated and there are no strings attached. However, the whole conversation with Cedric upon the phone… It made me laugh that someone was actually worried about me, I’m not used to that, even if he thought that I was pregnant and my life was in danger. It was… Sweet, even if the phone call had disrupted my train of thought with the business plan that I had been prepping. I never actually thought about the company that I keep, but I don’t have friends, just co-workers. My mother calls me occasionally, but that is all. My two older brothers are busy with their own jobs, doctors they are, I’m the black sheep out of us all.
Anyway, I don’t know why Cedric would actually try to convince me that I would be pregnant. Whether it’s to draw me back to Harper Rock or not, I cannot allow the man to do such a thing. He was handsome, but he is not someone that I would go out of my way to visit again. I have met many handsome men, but none of them after a one-night’s stand have ever tried to convince me that I was pregnant. None of them had ever played the death card either. It made the whole phone call a little different. Speaking of which, did he really loose his phone or was he lying? Had he given me a phone number that was phony? It’s strange that if he did give me a phony number that he would call me upon an actual number that I could reach him on. So does that mean that he was telling the truth? Does that mean that I could die in a month?
…Na, He has to of been lying. I’m not pregnant, so I’m definitely not going to die.
