Snow fell gently around the young brunette as she walked. She had stayed late at the college to finish up her graphic design project. She was trying to design a movie poster for a fake horror movie. She smiled as she thought about how much she was having in class. Her parents had been disappointed of course. Her father being an orthopedic surgeon, and her mother being a psychiatrist, they both expected her to go into the medical field as well. Instead, she wanted to be an artist, and her canvas would be the digital world.
The grey haired man in the expensive suit sat in his over sized recliner tapping his fingers. He was clearing agitated as the woman in the elegant dress, who was clearly his wife set a large mug of coffee on the table next to him. He took a sip of the black liquid and began pacing around the room like a caged animal. He set the mug back down and stared out the bay window to the snow covered world beyond.
“Where is she,” he growled out, “Doesn’t she know this is a very important award for me to be getting tonight?
“Simon you need to calm down, she did say she was staying at school a little late tonight, she is a young woman after all,” the woman gently chided. She placed a hand on his shoulder to calm him down.
“You know Anne, I blame my mother for her behavior. That damned hippy woman was always going on about being a “free spirit” an other such damned nonsense.”
Anne just sighed and smiled. she went over to another large chair and sat down to relax. “You know stress isn’t good for your health, both physical and mental dear.”
“You’re...right honey. If she’s not here in ten minutes though, we’re leaving without her. I can’t afford not to be present for my award.”
He sat down again and slowly drank his coffee as they waited for their daughter to return.
