Reparation [Keara + Jersey]

OOC: Backdated to 3rd of December
Although Peter spent the majority of his time walking between his apartment in West Towers and the animal shelter at the Eastern edge of the city, he hadn’t abandoned his place at the Asylum. The conversation he’d had with Keara so many months ago was still fresh in his head - his sire cared about him, he knew that, without a doubt. Even if her wording sometimes cut across his logical mind like a knife, he knew deep down that he was more than just a pawn. More than just an extension of her relationship with Enver. At least, he chose to believe that he wasn’t. It was easier, that way.
Keara had asked him not to hide himself away; he tried not to. Although he did spend the majority of his week at his apartment, he still spent one night a week at the Asylum. His room there was the same as it had always been - it was the hub for his book business - it housed the rare books he had sourced, and the ones he had yet to fix up. He hadn’t moved out - everything stayed where it was. It was the slowest of his businesses, and he could afford to spend less time on it.
Ever since he’d repaired his relationship with Jersey, he was a little more relaxed. A little. Every time he came to the Asylum, he brought the dogs with him; they enjoyed the place. They knew its smells. Really, the dogs went everywhere with him. They were his buffer. They were his comfort blanket, should anything ever go wrong.
The tome he had still went to the Asylum, too - that was where he was, now. On the same floor where the tome dropped him. Jersey wasn’t with him. But he knew how to summon her. Knew that he could. Maybe he did it now out of spite - to show her what it felt like to be pulled away from whatever one was doing, spontaneously. But, knowing Jersey, she wouldn’t be phased. But really, Peter just wanted to enjoy her company, too, even as he sat in the middle of the floor playing with the dogs.
His life might be just one large schedule, but he also scheduled in time to relax. To play with the dogs. He wouldn’t be happy, otherwise.

Her evening has gone as simple as it normally did. After work, Jersey would return to her sire’s apartment long enough to greet the Kallista, Kelly, Garrett and her siblings before grabbing her bag of gadgets to break and enter for a short while in search of source codes. The codes would be put into a smaller bag, separate to give to Keara once she had a decent amount, and anything that could not be used by someone in Vedarian would be sold off. The cash was split between her account and Lucas’, some of it going to spoiling her pets and the rest being saved for Christmas gifts.
When she finished her search, the blonde would tome back to Kallista’s and tuck her bag back underneath the computer, wave and then disappear through the fadeportal. From there, it would depend. Some days, she would go spend time with Clover and Athena or take Bear for a jog. Other days, she would head to the University to attend a lecture or two for an art class that she had signed up for and then leave. Rarely, she visited the hospital where she had met Clover and check in on her friend's ex, Zach, to make sure the man was still alive and breathing even if he was medicated or sedated after the last time she’d seen him.
She couldn't help but feel a little bit guilty, but hardly lingered on the emotion before moving forward. However, that night, Jersey had been in the mood to paint after her usual activities and so, she had returned to her apartment in Sanctuary. Her work clothes had been changed into a simple pair of blue jeans that she found comfortable with a gray tank top worn underneath a red flannel shirt that had been rolled up to her elbows. Although she was in her apartment, she had kept on her Converse with the intention to meet Peter at the edges of the woods before she lost track of time.
Sitting back on her stool after sometime, the blonde had set down her paintbrush to admire her work - internally grimacing at the fact she still was incapable of drawing a straight line when she was summoned. One moment, she was looking at her mess and the next she found herself sitting in the Asylum. At first, she had thought the culprit was Nakia or Kallista, but her green eyes quickly found Peter. An instant smile lit up on her features, brushing aside her confusion as she leaned over to set a kiss to his lips in greeting. “Hello handsome.” Jersey reached over to scratch behind Lady’s ears after she was nudged, “And hello to you.”

Most nights bled one into another for Keara and while she didn’t really like having a routine, it wasn’t something that she would complain about. The woman might have had a certain element of routine to her evenings but that didn’t mean that she wasn’t surprised daily by one thing or another. Enver could be quite whimsical when the moment took him, as could she and with Jamie in the mix these days, she was never entirely sure of what might happen. That said, she was in the Castle again, making her way around the place and sparring with those she found there. Fighting her own kind was only enjoyable if it didn’t result in one of them being sent to the accursed realm and the place was rather lucrative as far as collecting parts for Enver went. In fact, he was probably the main reason she went there. She wasn’t as au fait with thievery as she had once been, so she wasn’t able to gather all the necessary elements he required for making traps. She was however quite adept at recognising gun parts that could be salvaged and it was these that she obtained for him. Enver had much improved of late too and she was sure that he still had a little room to grow, so the more arts she found, the more practice he got, the better he became and the prouder she was of him; if that was at all possible, as Keara thought the world of her husband.
Leaning against the wall, she took a moment to consider her plans for the evening. Go home, drop off what she found, go see Jamie again, walk the puppies and stalk her husband. Stalk might be too strong of a word but she did like to be wherever he was when she could be and she didn’t much care what she did while she was with him. She’d even gone as far as to set up an easel in the attack so that she could paint or draw while Enver cleaned the parts she brought him and assembled them into something new. Honestly, it was a wonder she got anything done at all when he was tinkering as she loved to watch him work and could literally lose herself in time and space as she focused on the things he did with his hands. He was beyond talented as far as she was concerned and while she was adept at many things, crafting anything of any real use was beyond her. She could dismantle traps if she had to, but there was no real art in destroying something; at least not as far as she was concerned. Destruction was something she had a talent for, though, so it made sense to her that she could deconstruct things better than she could construct them.
Looking down at herself, she smoothed her hands over her outfit. Like always she was dressed in a short skirt, one that this night, she’d paired with a form fitting bodice. As pretty as bodices were, they didn’t allow for easy access, so she didn’t wear them as often these nights as she did before she met her husband. Reassured that her clothing had not taken any damage in any of her sparring sessions, she decided that it was time to return home. It wouldn’t take long to return to the asylum as she would use her tome, which, as per usual, was safely nestled in her boot. All she needed to do was think the words and she’d be transported back across the city, back to her home, back to her heart.

The power was not one that Peter used often; and it seemed in this case that he didn’t bother Jersey with it at all. Maybe it would take multiple uses before she began to slap him - before she began to become annoyed by the constant disruption to her activities, whether important or not. This time, Peter could see the flecks of paint, the casual attire - he could only assume that she had been investing her time in her art. He recalled that she had told him about her foray back into her art, and he was happy for it.
He gladly returned the kiss that Jersey offered, but happily gave her up to the attention of the dogs. Lady was the first to have noticed Jersey’s sudden arrival, and the rest soon followed suit. They were instantly surrounded by wagging tails and eager, excited bodies, and Peter had to laugh. There was something about his canine companions, something in the way they calmed him with their easy happiness. They were not hard to please, and they were always so happy to see people. Especially the people they loved. They surged upon Jersey in one furry heap, and Peter did nothing to stop them.
“I didn’t interrupt anything important, did I?” he asked as a courtesy. Mainly curious, though - he wanted to hear about Jersey’s night.

There was was a small squeal of delight as she was surrounded by the dogs. She'd missed them almost as much as she had missed him and Jersey gave each animal a hug, a kiss on their head and she scratched them. “You didn’t, no.” She smiled to Peter once the dogs had calmed and looked down at Ellie as she felt her climb into her lap. The blonde began to pet the small dog immediately, her free hand reaching out to do the same for Jack.
“I was just messing around with a canvas after work and searching source codes to give to Keara.” A wet nose touched her cheek and she laughed.
There weren’t many things that Jersey did that was important to her other than spend time with her loved ones. And considering Peter and the dogs were in that category, and had been for a long time, she didn’t mind it in the least. “What have you been up to?” Even if she didn't know his schedule, it was the polite thing to ask and he did surprise her from time to time. Reaching over, Jersey dusted some dog hair from his shoulder before looking around the asylum. She was still in a good mood after successfully pulling him from his work.

Arriving at the altar, Keara looked around as she always did. Most days there were at least a few family members milling around which always made her smile, but it was Enver whom she was always attempting to spot. Several thoughts always went through her mind when she came home and took in the sights. She’d always note if anything had been moved or damaged, if there was anyone there that didn’t belong etc. The safety of her family was extremely important to her and they were still replacing traps around the building that had been destroyed almost a year ago. What Keara didn’t expect to see, or rather who she didn’t expect to see, were Peter and Jersey. They weren’t caught in a passionate embrace or anything but still seeing the pair together was something the elder hadn’t seen in quite some time. They were surrounded by Peter’s chosen companions and the sight of the creatures, made Keara smile all the more, as she knew if she were to go and fetch her own pack, that chaos was likely to ensue.
“Nice it is for you both to see,” she said moving to embrace first Jersey and then Peter. She lingered a little longer in Peter’s embrace and even ruffled his hair slightly as she ran her fingers through it before placing a kiss to his cheek.
Keara bit back the urge to comment on the fact that they were together, as it was perfectly reasonable to assume that the pair were still in fact friends. She’d long ago considered what would become of her and Enver if their relationship broke down and friends wasn’t something she ever saw as being possible. While she would likely still love him and would probably stalk him, she’d decided Enver would likely reject the idea of maintaining a friendship, or would at least when she started destroying any subsequent romances he might attempt. Of this she was certain, her unhealthy obsession with the man, would never allow him to be with another.

The way Peter looked at Jersey, it was as if she were completely new. The dogs vied for his attention and though he petted them, it was with an absent kind of attention. Jersey glowed, and he had no idea why she had come back to him. To him, of all people. She could have anyone, but she had come back to Peter and his numerous canines, and his insane schedules, and his drastic OCD that got set off by the smallest things.
She asked him what he had been up to, and the question got lost, somewhere. “I have been… I ah… working,” he said. But Jersey knew that already, didn’t she? She had to. That’s all Peter did. He walked from home to the shelter, and back to the asylum, and then home again. Each place had an office appointed to the different small businesses that he ran. He didn’t have to fill Jersey in on the intricacies, did he? But she had asked the question…
... but Jersey was saved from hearing the long and arduous story about Peter’s latest acquirement, or the little dog who delivered twelve puppies. Keara landed in the middle of the space, brought home with her tome. She moved to embrace them both, and Peter allowed it. At first, he hadn’t been too keen on these hugs, but he had grown accustomed to them. Even returned them, with a grateful kind of affection. Though of course as soon as he straightened up, he fixed his hair.
“Jersey has some source codes for you,” he said to Keara. “I think,” he said, turning to Jersey. She had said she was searching for them, but had she found any? He shoved his hands into his pockets and smiled. Small talk? Nailed it.

When she noticed him looking at her, she inclined her head and smiled to the man, “Something wrong, Peter?” She asked, curious and felt Jack worm his way into her lap. She scratched behind the dog’s ears, the blonde holding the small dog to her slender frame as she listened to the man speaking. His schedule hadn’t changed and she nodded at his answer. Gently, she bumped him with her shoulder. “And here I was planning to leave you alone tonight until you got home.”
Jersey had a teasing smile and her words were playful, but before she fell quiet again, another person appeared and she jumped just a bit, startled having forgotten about the tome drop. Jack moved off her lap, returning to Ellie. “Keara.” She greeted, straightening up some so that she could return the embrace properly before letting go, “It’s lovely to see you, too.” Had it been any other woman greeting Peter like she had, the blonde might have been a bit uncomfortable, but she knew Keara and felt her lips twitch in amusement.
She knew how Peter was with his appearance and the blonde simply giggled.
“Five.” She confirmed, and began to reach for her bag automatically. When she realized it was still at the apartment, she reached over and pinched Peter’s hip, “But I’m going to have to give you them later, I was summoned. How have you been?”

Keara nodded as Peter told her Jersey had some source codes for her, the female dropped off what she when she was passing and Keara had been putting them to good use as she slowly worked through the scripts Peter required. As it stood, she currently had a couple of scripts ready and waiting for him, she just hadn’t had them on her when their paths had crossed, much like she didn’t have them on her now.
“Oh I very well am,” Keara smiled at the pair. “And several scripts have I do Peter, for you. Completed them a while ago I did, but had them upon me I have not when seen you I have. Forgotten I have not that more scripts required are. Waiting upon the source codes I have been for them easier for to code.”
As far as conversations went, this one was easy and fairly important as they all seemed to have information to relate to one another. Once all the information had been given however, there was little else to say on the matter of script and source codes, unless Keara wished to inquire how Jersey was acquiring them, which she was sure she didn’t want to know, the specific were not necessary. The conversation did serve another purpose however, as it reminded Keara that she had items of her own that needed to be put away, sold and gifted, though that could wait now that she had people to talk to. Taking off her backpack she briefly considered throwing it in the direction of the crafting table before deciding that, that was a bad idea due to the nature of some of the items her pack contained, and so she set it beneath the altar to sort out later.
“You both well are looking. Have you plans for this evening?”
Brown eyes roamed over the furry companions bustling around the pair but she didn’t move to greet them as she would her own. Her own, however, would not have waited to be greeted, they would have swarmed her ankles and made their presence known the moment she stepped into the room, much like she suspected these dogs had done upon seeing Jersey, given the position she was in.

The more that Keara did speak, and the more the dogs calmed down, the more they noticed that she was there. The first to break away was Hunter - the largest and, ironically, the most placid of the five. The Great Dane sauntered over to Keara and nudged at her thigh with his body, his tail wagging lazily behind him, his tongue lolling happily from his mouth. Peter didn’t call the dog back - he figured Keara wouldn’t mind.
He nodded when Keara said she had some scripts; he was still smiling.
“That’s okay, Keara. There’s no rush for them,” the blase comment might have sounded strange coming from Peter’s lips - especially given the rigidity of his schedule, lately, and how little he might have seen Keara in the interim because of it. “I’ve been doing fine with what I have. Better ones will be nice, once I have them. But whenever you’re ready,” he said. She had also asked him what their plans were, and Peter was very easily able to reply.
“I plan to play with the dogs and talk to Jersey - and yourself, if you’re staying - for another--” he glanced down at his watch, and then back up again. “--fifty-four minutes. I’ve already been to the Paws and Whiskers. I’m going to go down to my room then and continue restoring some books, and do some research into a few leads I’ve found for other antiques for four hours. And then I’ll go back to the cabin and finish an article I’m writing for the journal, and do some hacking,” he said, without skipping a beat. This was what his schedule looked like most nights - except tonight, he took some time out to see Jersey. To take a break. It was something he was easing into - a few more hours, here and there, to take a break.
