< Adelita > “Do you live there?” Tiny, startling- blue eyes stared up at the Mexican woman as she exited a tiny, gray, one story ranch style home. He stood on the concrete steps that led up to it, one leg on the porch, the other on the step below as the blonde haired child looked at Adelita. He had to be no older than ten, and leaned against the railings of the staircase, looking her over.

”No.” Adelita shook her head slowly, her coffee colored hues swinging from left to right, before returning to the boy. ”Mi-y mom lives here. I just dropped in to surprise her, but she isn’t home.” Lita pulled theoversized, black purse up over her shoulder, and zipped her black leather coat up, hiding the bright magenta colored top she was wearing from the kids view.

“You’re really pretty.” The boy in an unzipped black hoodie commented as Adelita moved down the stairs, content with the explanation she gave, even if it wasn’t the truth. ”Thank you.” The woman said before she pulled her long hair out of her coat and tucked it behind her ears. Lita moved down the walkway and from the house, but she didn’t have to be a vampire to know that she was being followed by the kid. ”Where’s your car?” He asked her as Adelita started walking away from the home and down the sidewalk. ”I don’t have one.” Adelita replied shortly, feeling a sense of annoyance from the kid as she moved the bag to the other shoulder, feeling the weight of various rings and handheld guns in it, weighing her preferred arm down.

“My mom told me all adults have cars. Wait. Are you an adult?” He stops and looks at her back, sizing the woman up. She dressed like an adult, but she wasn’t that much bigger than he was. Maybe by a couple inches. ”Do I look like an adult?” Adelita turned to look at him, only taller than him because she was wearing a pair of boots that added three inches to her five foot, one build. “You actually look like this girl in the sixth grade named-” Adelita started walking again, attempting to tune the boy out. “She wears a lot of that lip color stuff you have on. Only in silver. All the girls are wearing silver or gold for Christmas. It’s kind of stupid.”

Adelita rolled her eyes and crossed the street, hoping to distance herself from the kid who liked to tell his whole life story to a random stranger. Shuffling feet on the cold concrete surface told her otherwise. ”Won’t your mom be worried you’re not where you should be?” Lita asked once she was across the street, as the boy approached her. He lifted his shoulders in response then shook his head no. “No. She’s still at work.” Adelita took a deep breath in, and exhaled it through her lungs.

She didn’t like kids. She never had them, she never had to deal with them since she was the only child and avoided them at family gatherings. Adelita had never had the maternal urge growing up, and she certainly didn’t have it now. “I have adult things to do. Sorry.” Adelita left the Elmwood district as she walked across another street and entered the bullwood district where she intended on selling the stash she got from the home she just cased, but the kid was making it exceptionally difficult to do the things she needed and wanted to do. “I think you hanging around me will get me in trouble. You should go away. Shoooo.” Her tone was getting sharp and pointed as they moved around people that were in Adelita’s way.

“My mom told me a story once.” It was like the kid didn’t hear a single thing Adelita had just said and wanted to keep talking about himself. Adelita threw an arm in the air, as a hand came over the strap of the heavy purse, making sure it stayed glued to her arm. “She told me that the lady next door doesn’t have any family because she’s a mean, cranky, old hag. No one could ever love her.” Adelita froze as she realized what the kid was telling her. He was basically calling her bluff in the middle of the busy street. And the way he looked at her, was as if he was daring her to try and tell him something different. “One time she stabbed my ball with a scissors when it went in her backyard. And she laughed at me and said ‘That will teach you, you little shi-’” Lita didn’t hear him finish the rest of the sentence or the swear that was about to leave his mouth, as she pushed open the door to the Academy Building and entered it. Hopefully, she could lose him in here, or he would leave and never be seen from again. A girl could always hope, right?

<Blake>Having spent a majority of the last few nights in the catacombs it was quite a welcome relief for the elder (in his mind anyways) vampire to be somewhere above ground. Unlike most of his kind, Blake found true peace and tranquility in the rare atmosphere that some might call ‘beautiful’. Whether this was high above the city in the maze of branches and foliage and ancient wood that made The Eyrie what it was or here, within Lumen , where he had painstakingly worked day and night to turn the old art gallery into a more...hospitable place. Here among the gardens of the Romanesque ‘Academy’ Blake found such an atmosphere, an atmosphere that some would might even go so far as to call magical especially with the current state of Harper Rock. In the aftermath of a massive earthquake that had left many buildings in ruins, the humans and vampires alike that waged a seemingly endless war against one enemy or another and even the Fae that had moved into Harper Rock to wage yet another war against their most ancient of enemies….admist it all stood Lumen, a magnificent and ancient looking structure that had been designed by his own hand to be a beacon of the old embracing the new. From the ancient cobblestone walkways to the cracked yet stalwart pillars and arches that graced an almost garden like complex it was here that Blake found himself spending more and more time as of late.

It was a night like any other that he walked what was the first of many floors to come. Pale fingers tracing the cracks of the columns that lined the center walk way. He knew he was a vampire, death incarnate some might even say, but there was something to be said for the simple pleasures in life, something about the way that everything...connected that had made him reexamine his life and, beyond that, his unlife. Just looking around the unnatural ecosystem he had constructed he had to wonder just how many would find and enjoy the simple beauty that he had brought to Harper Rock. Unfortunately, in his mind, the number was few and far between. He could count on one hand the number of people that shared his vision and his goals and even then most of them seemed as silent as the dead. A small smile appeared on his face as he thought about how ironic it was that he had chased his dreams and worked so hard to bring something positive to vampires all across the city and yet most of them were as silent as what they truly were. There were a few he had hope for, his childe, Xylia was among them and another he had taken in, Adelia. Both of them showed such promise but, then again, he saw something in each of his students that made him strive to be the best he could be for them all because, after all, a student only turned out as well as their teacher, right?

Letting these thoughts drift to and fro in his mind, Blake continued to walk about the mostly unused Academy in hopes that, in time, it would become a beacon of wisdom and learning in Harper Rock. Perhaps even after the Masquerade ended (as it seemed as if were about to happen any day now) The Academy might prove to be the one thing that could be used to prove to humans everywhere that vampires were not all bad, that there was hope for cohabitation. This was something that plagued the mind of The Shadow on a nightly basis but, alas, no true plan could be readily prepared so, as always, there were multiple plans being woven in his mind at all times which made for...quite a distracted individual. Even his adoptive sire had told him on many a night to ‘stop worrying so much’ but even with her words Blake found it impossible. His family, his students, hell even the people he didn’t like...all of it was interconnected just like the ecosystem of The Academy. Were one single part cease to exist the ripples it would cause throughout his entire life could be disastrous. And so it fell to Blake, in his mind, to prepare and to be ready for whatever dangers might rear their head.

Broken from his thoughts by the sound of a soft chime from his phone, Blake pulled the device from his pocket. Apparently someone had tripped the sensor near the front door. A student perhaps? A potential student? Maybe even family? Regardless, as headmaster and owner of the building it was Blake’s joy to welcome the guest. With a seemingly endless smile Blake made his way towards the door, a slight pause in his step as he recognized the face of one of his students whom he, unfortunately, had only met a few nights ago when he had overburdened her with weapons and weapon parts as well as the task to begin fashioning weapons for her fellow classmates. It wasn’t about WHO it was that made him pause though, it was the sense of annoyance that seemed to radiate from the petite woman that caused him to hesitate. Apparently someone, or something, had annoyed the woman he had come to know as Adelita. Tsk. Clearing his throat as he stepped into view he spoke softly as if The Academy were some kind of great old structure that a louder voice might destabalize.

“Adelita, is everything alright? You look….bothered.”

< Adelita > The Mexican woman was leery of using another place to bunker down, more or less, especially when it wasn't a place she owned, but Adelita certainly didn’t want it following her home and knowing where that home was. A public place, was a public place, was a public place, right?

“No. I mean, yes.” Lita said as she nodded her head, the ‘y’ a subtle ‘j’ instead. “There is, was, a monster following me for a long time. It won't leave me alone.” Dark eyes settled on Blake after they had come off looking at the decor and immediate layout of the building.

“I am ok. I think it's gone.” Adelita nodded confidently, even if her words were far from the confident stance she was trying to take. “Gracías. Is your shop open?” Adelita extended a singular finger in its direction before scooting over that way, just before a light gust of winter air entered the building, coming from the same door Lita had come through.

The ‘monster’ stood in the entrance, in all its five foot glory, with its jaw wide open as it looked at the inside of the building. ”Woaaaaah!” His eyes fell on Blake, snapping him from his moment of awe.”What is this place? Did you see a girl come in here?” The boy started inching his way in, taking in all the columns and white decor as he looked around for the woman he was after.

<Blake>The slightest of nods was given as Adelita questioned him about the shop that he allowed to take up residence within The Academy. It was, after all, a win-win situation for both him and the shady man that seemed to own not one, but two, shops there in The Academy. One specializing in the more mundane while the other specialized in the more arcane. Or so he assumed that was the nature of the relics that were sold.

“Of course, at least, it should be. I’d be shocked if the greasy little cretin that ran the place had taken off. He never seems to miss out on an opportunity to make a bit of cash. Though...if you have any Unholy Relics I would be more than willing to buy those off of you for double what he will.”

The grin on his face gave away all too much as he attempted to potentially finagle any of the mentioned items out of her for far cheaper than he should have. He knew it was a crappy move on is part but he had more than enough intent on helping the young vampire further on down the line. Hell, he already had it in mind to buy the girl a forge if and when she had decided she knew all The Academy could teach her. A type of graduation present as it were and, truth be told, he had one in mind for each of his students. ‘Lita though, small sweet ‘Lita, he had special plans for her. She would, given a little nudge, be the one to provide the swords and knives The Academy so sorely was in need of.

The smile however quickly became a look of irritation at the sound of a higher pitched and far more obnoxious voice. Whereas Adelita’s voice was soft and her accent sweet this voice was almost shrill and harpy-like. Turning ever so slowly from his student to the young human child Blake took a deep breath and did his best to not tear the human to shreds where he stood...child or not.

“Young sir, we are not currently open for business and I would ask you to leave hastily. Your mere presence could upset the ecosystem and people that are beginning to flourish here.”

Moving forward quickly and without a moment's hesitation Blake began to usher the young child towards the door. A sideways glance towards Adelita as he rolled his eyes. If this didn’t work there was, unfortunately, only one option that would suffice. Vampires of any age, after all, were the best there were at hiding bodies.

< Adelita > Once Blake had told her the shop was open (in a few words or more), Adelita hadn't wasted any time heading to it, just incase the unwanted presence made his way inside the building after her. ”Unholy what?”

And sure enough. Just as Lita moved into the doorway of the shop, there was that all too familiar voice inside the main entry of the school. ”Eco-huh?” The boy asked as he was being pushed out the door by none other than Blake. ”No, but-” The boy protested as his eyes landed on the woman who was now watching the entire scene from the door of the shop.

”That's her!!” The young boy pointed to where Adelita had been standing, before she scooted further in the shop, attempting to disappear from it. ”That lady lied. She says she knows that cranky, old hag, but I don’t think she really does.” The boy planted his feet on the ground as his arm remained firmly fixed in the Mexican woman’s direction.

<Blake>His mind was made up. This boy really needed to go one way or another. Even with the annoying bratling planting his feet it was nothing for Blake to simply hoist him up by the back of his shirt and carry him outside. Yeah, sure, let someone call Social Services. No one would question it once they saw the security camera footage that showed Blake asking the boy to leave. Everything here, shockingly, was above the legal level and quite warranted.

Setting the boy down a few feet outside the door Blake simply stared at him as if daring his new adversary to try something. It would be a cold day in hell before some child got the best of Blake Andras and today was no different.

“I don’t see what is so difficult about this. You are not allowed within that building. You are not allowed to harass my clients. That building could burst into flames at any moment and you would still not be allowed to walk through those doors. Understand?”

With that said he sighed and pulled a few toonies from his pocket and shoved them into the boy’s hands. Hopefully the prospect of having a bit of money to get in trouble with would deter him from pursuing Adelita any further.

“Go have fun. Your friend and I have some important work to get down to if you don’t mind.”

< Adelita > Lita felt a small tinge of guilt for letting Blake deal with the minor annoying stalker of hers, but at the same time, the guy seemed to have everything under control. Adelita set the bag of random objects she acquired from the ‘old hag,’ next door to the kid and held up a finger to the guy behind the counter, watching the rest of the confrontation play out until the little monster was outside. ”I want to sell all of it.” Adelita told the guy, her attention moving from Blake and the kid, to the guy every so often, noting the unmentioned bribe, more or less Blake had given the kid.

”Your funeral, mister. I think she’s a bad person, but-” The boy shrugged, pocketed the coins and appeared to be content with leaving Blake to his own demise, more or less. ”You should keep your eye on her. My mom always watches that cranky lady next door. You should do that.” Beady eyes tried to look through the door to see if he could find Adelita one last time before sighing, turning and heading down the stairs to go his own way.

Her coffee colored hues returned to the guy at the shop who had put a couple stacks of brown colored bills on the counter before he started putting everything in the places he organized similar items in. Jewelry in one place, weapons and their parts in another, cigarettes in yet another and coins that may or may not be valuable in another. “I think it looks a little light.” Adelita eyed the shopkeeper before taking the money anyways. In the end, money that she got for free (even with the minor nuisance and inconvenience of a loud mouth brat), was free. “I’m going to watch more closely next time.” Lita warned the shopkeep, as she collected her bag and left the shop.

When her eyes landed on Blake, Lita stopped in the doorway and leaned against it. “Thank you. For defeating the monster.” There was a small smirk to her smile before Lita moved from the door, and took a good look at the brightness of the inner walls and pillars of the building. She had been here once before-very briefly before leaving, uncertain if she was in the right place or not. After a comfortable second of looking around, Adelita returned her eyes to Blake. “Sorry. I had hoped to lose him in one of the shops.”

<Blake>Blake gave the bratty child a sideways glance before speaking softly but with a harshness that would not go unnoticed even to one as young as the child he addressed. Granted the words were just as harsh but he had truly met his wits end with this child and the sheer stupidity that seemed to be spewing from his mouth with every passing second.

“Your mother watches that cranky lady next door because your mother is a nosy twat with nothing better to do. People should mind their own damn business and not interfere in the lives of people they barely know..”

And with that said and the small little bribe given (which would never be admitted to) the human child was left outside in the cold. The door to lumen locked behind Blake as he reentered the building with a soft, albeit unneeded, sigh. His attention immediately grabbed by Adelita and her kind words of thanks.

“You know, usually I just shoot the monsters….dealing with that creature was far more...displeasing than some of the **** down in the catacombs.”

He smiled as he made his way over to ‘Lita, now in full mentor mode. Looking over to the shop to see the last few items being stored away a raised eyebrow was cast to the shopkeeper who was all too quick to respond in kind, as if the greedy little man were insulted that Blake would even dare question his business ethics in such a small and simple way.

“I do hope you didn’t get too badly ripped off. Between the kid and the prices that maggot over there gave you I’d imagine you’re having a hell of a night.”

< Adelita > There was a tiny look of humor in the corners of Lita’s lips as she smiled at Blake’s comparison of two types of monsters, even if one wasn’t technically a monster. Her shoulders lifted, not indicating which she would rather deal with. She rarely spent any time in the dimly lit depths of the mausoleum. Maybe once a month, if that.

His facial expression briefly surprised the Mexican woman. She didn’t expect a smile. Quite the opposite. She did, (even if unintentionally) put Blake in the middle of her dilemma. But here he was, smiling. While Blake approached her, Adelita pulled the bag higher up on her shoulder and even placed a protective hand over it. There wasn’t much left in it-not in the main part that she had opened, but there was obviously something in there, somewhere that she wanted to keep safe.

A hell of a night. That made Adelita laugh a little. This was pretty much her life every night. Since the night she had been sired, Lita felt as if there was a little black cloud that chased her around the city. Maybe some of her unfortunate events were her own causing, but they all couldn’t be, right?

“I didn’t know nosy twat was in your vocabulary.” When the Mexican woman met Blake face to face for the first time, she was honestly surprised at his age. She had pegged him for being much older and probably one of those elder things she was briefly told about. Lita moved from the doorway of the shop now that the kid was a distant memory of what had been mildly irritating a few minutes ago. ”And he didn’t rip me off too badly. I can make it up later tonight or tomorrow.” Once upon a time Lita wouldn’t have thought twice about making a negative comment about anyone, but Lita didn’t know Blake and she certainly didn’t want to help another person end up on a ritual altar with their head off their shoulders and entrails sprawled out all over the place. “This place is really bla-white.” Adelita bit back on the Spanish word of ‘white,’ as she moved further from the store and made a semi-circle with her feet to look at the inside of the building as she intentionally changed the topic.

<Blake>Noting the defensive nature that the small woman showed toward her bag, Blake quickly took a casual step back and looked away so as to set her at ease. His eyes drawn to one of the large white marble columns that served as a part of a mock aqueduct. Something about the greco-roman architecture was just so...appealing to him. Perhaps it was the stark contrast to the dark nature of the both himself and the city as a whole that had him appreciating the natural beauty and contrast of the way he had designed Lumen. Perhaps, in time, he would figure out what to do with the floors above since they were still bare and undecorated. Regardless, he was happy with how he place had turned out and the looks of shock and awe he received when people first arrived was all too priceless.

And now he got to enjoy that reaction with Adelita. Perfect.

It wasn’t until he heard that soft laugh of hers again that he truly found himself becoming happy. He had missed moments like this, just being able to relax with a someone he considered a friend and not having to worry about a damn thing. Mentor, teacher, leader...none of it meant a damn thing to him right then because he was simple able to enjoy being a friend, nothing more and nothing less. The weight it lifted from him wa such that it felt like he was almost human again, flush with life and happiness and joy...things he had not felt in many many months.

“Oh I may be a gentleman but that doesn’t mean my vocabulary is limited. Quite the opposite in fact. It’s full of interesting and fun words.”

The smile turning into the slightest of grins as he watched her, his fingers tracing a minute crack in that very same pillar he had conveniently used earlier to distract himself from her bag and whatever it was she might be hiding.

“And yes, very white. It’s...kind of nice. Everything outside is so...dreary and depressing more often than not. It was my hope that having a place like this might be a welcome relief.Get people to relax and be a bit more comfortable and maybe find a small bit of humanity to help them when things seem tough or difficult. You should try it some time. Just come on by on a stressful night and just walk around. Enjoy the silence and the life all around and the way that even this old marble seems to become so much more vibrant and alive just by being here. It’s almost...magical, if I might be so bold.”

< Adelita > She noticed the step back from her, but Lita didn't relax her hold on the bag or stance until Blake laughed. Another surprise. The male had a humor bone in him. Her arm dropped from the bag and came to rest at her side as she studied him and thought on Blake’s statements.

How he talked about Lumen seemed almost familiar to some aspects of why Adelita started Origenes. A place to escape from the craziness of Harper Rock and even her own life at the time of creation. “I will keep the offer in mind, gracías.” Adelita let her focus drift from Blake to look around again, realizing that it might have sounded like she was blowing him off. Quite the opposite, really. “I have a business I just started. It's probably no where near as important as this place… Lita trailed off as her eyes found a pillar and focused on the craftsmanship of it. “It's new. And busy. I spend most my nights there. Helping. ” She explained with a casual shrug of her shoulders. “I've never ran anything before. Sometimes it needs the extra help and supervision. But it's only open until midnight. My nights are pretty open after that though.” Lita admitted to Blake, leaving out that the nights that she didn't need to supervise or help she was with her thrall, doing the dancing and drinking thing. Lita knew not everyone liked the idea of humans and vampires mingling, even if Lita looked nothing like a typical vampire. “What was this place? Before you owned it?” Lita’s feet started her meandering around the interior once again.

<Blake>He had to admit, the woman interested him. A fellow business owner, a thief and a vampire...it sounded a lot like someone else he had known a very long time ago. He hid his sorrow the best he could as he cursed his age and his memory of times long past. Times of friends and happiness and joy..and now all of it was crumbled to dust beneath the darkness and despair and every other negative thing that plagued Harper Rock. From distrust to manipulation to everything in between, it seemed as if his kind had very little in the way of care for each other and, alas, it had lead to the utter chaos and anarchy that rampaged through the city on a nightly basis. Pushing the thoughts from his mind he instead focused on ‘Lita and what she had to say, her comment about Lumen being important bringing another soft laugh from him.

“Lumen is only as important as people make it. It can be a true sanctuary but only if people see it as such. It can be a place of growth and knowledge and learning but, again, only if people see it as such. Given my….standing in the city many think of the place as a means for me to corrupt the young vampires of the city into thinking the way that I think, brainwashing them into becoming fearless killers with no remorse and no conscience. “

Again a grin spread across his lips as he moved just the slightest bit closer to ‘Lita and lowered his voice as if to impart some great secret.

“You know what I really want all the students here to be?”

He paused.

“Intelligent and rational. To see the pros and cons of the masquerade. No system is perfect and while we try our best to hide from humans, mainly out of fear, I don’t think the masquerade is going to last forever. So what about what happens when vampires ‘come out of the coffin’? DO we show them how anarchic we are? How bloodthirsty we are? Or do we show the humans that we are unified and have our own government and have control over our bloodthirst? If we go with the latter of the two options it’s going to take a lot of work to make it happen...and that work is going to start with the young. When the rest of our kind see the newly turned setting aside personal ideology in order to work towards a better future...maybe us old fogies will jump on the bandwagon for one reason or another.”

He sighed and shook his head, it was all just another dream of course. A dream and a hope for a future that would never exist. Yes, he killed other other vampires and he was damn good at it but that didn’t mean he killed without conscience or remorse. He killed because it was the only semblance of law his kind had...anything else simply didn’t matter to anyone. Maybe he was right and that could be changed but more often than not he found himself thinking he wa wrong. Dead wrong. Nothing would ever change. It wasn’t until those ice blue eyes settled on the smaller woman once again that he found himself simply...not caring. Let the city burn. As long as he had his friends he’d be alright.

“I honestly don’t recall what Lumen used to be...a museum or an art gallery or something? I bought it off of some woman named Monique a while back.”

Again he paused only this time he seemed much more somber when he spoke.

“Thank you, ‘Lita, for coming here tonight. Problems and baggage included. You have no idea how nice it is to have someone to just….relax with sometimes.”

< Adelita > A thoughtful ear listened to Blake’s stance on Lumen, which wasn’t a lie. A place was only as important as society deemed it to be. A restaurant could only flourish if people wanted to continue to eat there given its reputation and a gallery or exhibit of any kind could be popular as long as it kept the interest of the consumer base. Lita didn’t have a lot of experience in running things, but she knew the basics...client base was what made something successful; from drugs to enchiladas and everything in between that.

When Blake stepped closer to Adelita, she didn’t react the same way she had a few minutes ago. The hand remained at her side and her stance remained loose, and she even inched in his direction just a tad bit herself. The woman shook her head at the question, not having an answer. At least ten ideas popped in her head, but nothing in regards to Blake’s apparent reputation and history. She knew nothing about it. Lita actually didn’t know a lot about anything, most of all the vampire hierarchy or laws in the city. Until Blake’s writing on both the New and Old Code in the Academy’s Crownet area.

Adelita hadn’t thought much on the future of vampires or herself. Nothing past next week, or even next month. They were heavy thoughts with no real answer. It depended on the group as a whole, she would barter. Like every species there were good and bad, but hopefully there were more ‘rational and intelligent’ vampires as Blake put it. Lita didn't exactly hide away from society because she was a vampire, but she certainly didn’t go about screaming it in the city. She did her best to blend in, not that it was overly complicated. She was either blessed with appearing human, or cursed, depending which side of the fence your views were on. No fangs, and not an ounce of pale skin on the Mexican woman to ever lead anyone to suspect Adelita wasn’t anything other than a normal, looking human being.

Chocolate hues wandered again as he mentioned it being a gallery or museum and the woman nodded. One of those two she had suspected when asking the question. Her lips curled into a quirky smile as Blake thanked her for popping by and the woman shook her head. ”You say that now, but next time I wander in, it might be a real monster tagging along.” Lita let her eyes bounce back to Blake, smile still on her lips. ”But you’re welcome.” Adelita hadn’t recalled the last time she just talked to someone without a motive of some sort behind the conversation from either party.

She had taken the thank you from him as a way to suggest that maybe he had things to do. While Adelita was an Allurist, she found it difficult to read a lot of people due to her upbringing. ”Thank you for the conversation too.” Lita took one last look around, her eyes stopping on the shop and the keeper in it that was bustling around before an offer was made. “My restaurant is near the slums. If you’re ever in the neighborhood and want to talk. You’re more than welcome to come inside.” Casual, at best. Lita didn’t want to appear to be one of those girls. The overly clingy, needy sort of acquaintance. Because she wasn’t.

<Blake>Blake chuckled as Adelita mentioned bringing a real monster with her next time. Oh if only the young vampire knew the types of things Blake had seen, and even made, within the city limits he had a feeling that she would truly turn pale.

“Oh I do hope you do. I love having a new monster to play with from time to time. Depending on what you bring I could even chain it up upstairs for practice with your classmates.”

The thought brought a wicked grin to his face as he imagined his childe, Xylia, trying her best to beat up a mooncalf or some such thing. Perhaps a lesson in humility to would his young upstart a bit of good for it definitely seemed as if the woman needed such a lesson. For too long had she acted as if Blake owed her something and frankly, he didn’t feel he did. He had given her a better life than the one she had and even given her a family to be a part of as well. While is wasn’t your ‘typical’ family it was the closest thing a vampire could come to without actually having their human siblings and parents turned with them.

It wasn’t until she made the offer of her company should he ever be in the area of her restaurant that he snapped back to reality, the imagined beating of his childe cast from his mind as he nodded almost too excitedly. ‘Lita was definitely one student he wouldn’t mind spending more time around though getting him to admit such a thing was going to be harder than killing him.

“I think I would greatly enjoy that. I don’t spend much time near the slums on sheer principle but I think I could find an excuse to wander towards that part of town if you’re going to be the one keeping me company…”

He let his words falter there for a moment. Did he just...allude to something that perhaps he shouldn’t have? Perhaps he did, it wouldn’t be the first time his mouth worked faster than has mind and got him into trouble. Almost as if he were shrugging aside the thought he laughed. Damn being proper and well behaved, maybe Vel was right, maybe he did need to just have some fun for once and ‘Lita most assuredly seemed the type to enjoy a night of adventure and fun.

< Adelita > Practice for her classmates. Lita’s attention was back on Blake as he gave a little smirk after the suggestion. It was difficult to tell if he was serious or not, but decided it didn't really matter. He said her classmates, which didn’t include her, which was fine by Adelita. She wasn’t like most vampires, going around looking to kill and maim things, because she didn’t know how to. Lita’s problems had always had a way of being resolved prior to being a vampire, due to money, or her padre’s influence, so Adelita never had to actually defend herself in any aspect ever. Until she became a vampire, and even then it was usually done by her mouth, which never ended well.

Blake’s opinion on the slums wasn’t surprising. Adelita had heard something that was more or less the same from the mouths of others, but the slums wasn’t a place she was going to shy away from. In fact, Lita was comfortable there and found it to be eclectic in its own sense. Like with any district in any city, it had its up and downs and the slums have been mostly good to Adelita. A few minor incidents, but overall, Lita could make some quick cash off the people that lived and ‘worked’ there.

”I promise that I won’t let anything unscrupulous happen to you while you are there. But, I will definitely make it worth your time.” The statement was left vague and to anyone’s imagination, Lita not expanding on her words as she let it sit between them for a couple of seconds before she inched a little closer to the door. If Blake took that to mean something slightly suggestive, well, Lita wasn’t going to disappoint him and if he took it for face value, he wouldn’t be disappointed with that either. ”And I’ll see what I can do about bringing that monster to school one night.” Adelita circled back to the previous statement he made, an amused smirk of her own now on the corners of her lips.

Her attention turned from him as she turned and headed towards the front doors of the building. One hand subtly went inside her bag as Lita repositioned it on her shoulder, and pulled out an off white colored business card with Origene’s name on it. On the card there was its logo, the address of the restaurant, her email address and direct telephone number. Lita stopped to stick the card in the crack of the other door, turned to give Blake another smile and then slipped out the other door and to the city streets.
