Dominique: Dominique stepped out into the night air and looked up to the stars. The movie was surprisingly great just as it was the first time she saw Pulp Fiction several years back in the very same theater. It was still going strong and the fact she watched it with Luffy made it even better. "Thank you for being open to the movie tonight."

Luffy: "I enjoyed myself as well. It was fun." He released the door and took a quick look around. He placed an arm around the woman's shoulders. "So, where to next? The night is still young and all that."

Dominique: She was glad that in the matter of hours they had found that common ground once again that had them enjoying each other's company like they used to. "We can go hang out wherever if you want. It is young. It is a shame to waste. I have work I could do at the shop too." She looks up and eyes him quietly. "Need any ink? Can do it for free. My treat."

Luffy: "I think we should avoid either of us doing any kind of real work tonight. Also, the tattoo would heal up in a matter of minutes so i'd hate to waste your ink. I did promise a certain someone a massage though."

Dominique: Dominique raised a brow then looked at her bare vibrantly inked arms. "Mine never fades."

Luffy: "Indeed, yours was also done when you were breathing. Mine would not stay now. I may have played around with doing stuff like that when I was first turned."
He glanced down at her and grinned, "but if you want I can prove it to you."

Dominique: "I have had work done since then and it stays." She shrugs lightly then winks at him. "Sure why not. It is great to get the chair time. I need all the practice I can get. Since it fades away for you it is not an issue if I mess up. You won't have to tolerate it for very long."

Luffy: He stretched slightly and nodded. "Well then, lead the way my dear, I shall be your guinea pig for the evening."

Dominique: She lit up at the prospect. She had new scalpels she wished to try. The new shipment had yet to be opened. The night was looking to be a wonderful start. "I like the sound of that." She needed the practice.

Luffy: He shook his head and laughed. "I think i'm getting myself into some trouble aren't I? We walking there, or should i just pick you up and super run there?"

Dominique: Dominique grinned. "Race you!" She was like a blur of skin and black as she shot her way towards Honeymead Market.

Luffy: Luffy stood there watching her as she ran. it was as much to watch her move, as it was to calculate where she was taking him. He tilted his head and cracked his knuckles. Luffy closed his eyes as his feet set themselves in a practiced stance. The eyelids opened quickly and the man blurred as his power was activated. It took him seconds to reach the market area where he sat and waited.

Dominique: Dominique looked back as she slowed down and found he was nowhere in sight. She laughed as she slowed to a casual jog then finally stopped. She turned around and looked again in the distance then faced the doors to Honeymead Market. There he was waiting. "That was cheating!" She shook her head and made her way into the mall.

Luffy: He stood up and dusted his pants off. "You never specified.the rules" He followed her into the mall and looked around. "So which shop is yours Mini?"

Dominique: "Twisted Sister Custom and Design." She nodded in the direction it was in and started stepping. "I forget there are no rules." She walked backward then turned back around and unlocked the door pulling it open for him."After you."

Luffy: He tilted his head at her and walked up to the shop. "Next time i'll do the race in otter form." He walked past her and ran his fingers along the small of her back and went over to an empty chair.

Dominique: She smiled at the offer of the otter race and wondered what he would think of her in her newly discovered lioness form. It would be a surprise. For the moment it would be about catching up on what they had been up to and creating some semi-permanent art.

Dominique: "Get comfortable. I am just getting the shipment opened."

Luffy: He removed his long jacket and set it aside before removing his shirt and tossing it onto the other article of clothing. He sat down and waited for her to get back with her items.

Dominique: She strolled up and set up her supplies on the utility cart. A few glances his way inspired a smile as she gloved up. " Any idea where you want it?" She waited with the cleansing sponge in hand.

Luffy: He looked over and shrugged. "Take your pick really. Don't really care where. I'm just the experiment. Though I do have one question."

Dominique: She looked to him and nodded."Shoot." The ink was loaded and she stretched to grab the portfolio to offer him some ideas.

Luffy: He took the portfolio and began flipping through it, picking a simple skull design to start with. "When did you start smelling like blood Dominique?" He handed her the image and sat back.

Dominique: She looked the image then back up to Luffy. "What did I smell like before?" The rolling chair drifted when she lifted up and took the design to the printer.

Luffy: "You smelled more like spring flowers before. I always keep hyper senses on. helps when dealing with the street gangs."

Dominique: She deadpanned. She glanced at the clock. Perhaps she should have showered or something? Maybe it was from running? "I did switch toothpaste brands." She found a roll of breath savers left in Ben's side of the utility cart and quickly popped one in her mouth. "Sorry about that." The design was copied and she made her way back to Luffy.

Luffy: He tilted his head again. He wasn't entirely sure she expected him to buy that excuse but he decided that right now was probably not the time to press for more information. "You should a different brand then."

Dominique: Dominique paused the movement of her hand holding the sponge that was doing the work of cleansing the surface of his skin. Not that he needed it. He was as likely to fall victim to a bacteria or infection as she was. She blinked a few times then shrugged. "What brand do you use?"

Luffy: "I use Crest mint whitening toothpaste." He quietly tapped his fingers on the chair while he waited. he wasn't surprised at the least. "Have you picked where you're going to start painting me?"

Dominique: She looked at the skull design in her hand and then to his chest. Her thoughts switched to the space his back offered. "I will pick some of that up." She rolled closer to him thanks to the wheeled shop stool and nodded her head to lay down flat on his stomach. "I think the back will be a good spot. Unless you wish elsewhere?"

Luffy: He stood up and climbed onto the table and laid face down. "Not really, I did say I was your guinea pig for this." he glanced over at the woman before shaking his head again. "I certainly like it, though i can't taste the mint anymore." He relaxes as he waits for what dominique will do.

Dominique: Dominique placed the transfer over the top of Luffy's back and smoothed over the surface with her hands. " You just need to work that out in your head. It is easy. You remember what it tasted like before, right?" HOPE peeled the paper back slowly. "So you think hard about it at that moment and it just kind of becomes a habit. The more you do it the more vivid it becomes. Soon it's as if you can taste it just like anyone else can."

Luffy: "actually i used to use the orange flavored toothpaste. i switched to the mint when i turned because i didn't wanna be annoyed every time I used it" The peeling paper tickled slightly as it was peeled back. "that kinda tickled"

Dominique: "Yes, I think it does too. Much better than having a waxing strip tugged off your skin. Trust me." She nods giving him a matter of fact look while rolling up the transfer paper into a ball and tossing it into the waste basket. "It never fails to hurt and you find squealing like a ***** is not so far off from happening when you feel the burn." She shrugged. "Funny how we can tear it up in the streets losing limbs but we still get squeamish over simply pain. Go figure." Her feet reach forward while her upper body leans back and she takes the ink gun in hand and fires it up. "Ready? Last call."

Luffy: He raises eyebrow to the girl as she's getting ready to begin the process. He couldn't remember the last time he had even felt pain of any kind. "i'll have to take your word for it. I've been beat so much I don't remember the last time i felt any pain at all"

Dominique: "Just like with the ability to taste, Luffy, you have to use your mind to retrieve the reference points for pain and sometimes pleasure as well. The mind is a beautiful resource." She smiled a little and scooted the rolling shop stool beneath her towards the edge of the black leather table he was laying on. "Start with the work about to be done. Try and appreciate it for how it feels." The dull hum of the gun is now heard in place of her voice.

Luffy: "That might be part of my problem. I block out all the bad stuff. It's just a pain in the *** to hold onto." he relaxed as the gun turned on. "so this what you do for a living now?"

Dominique: "Yes, it is what I do as well as the custom design for cars and cycles downstairs." Her hand paused as she looked over the minimal ink on his back. Satisfied it was a good start she went back to getting the outlines set. "I also still do the traps and guns crafting. Never hurts to be able to do several things to get by, yes? Oh and of course I still work for Zodiac."

Luffy: "Speaking of crafting, I could use a new gun should you ever have the desire to make one. something a little larger than my ole' .44" he tilted his head to look at her. "Zo's a good person. Did an interview with her when I worked for the paper." he didn't move due to not wanting to mess up her work.

Dominique: "I would be happy to make you something." She looked up from her work and then back down to the design in progress. "What are you doing now if you aren't at the paper?"

Luffy: "I play volunteer security officer for Serenity's business...and taking stuff from gangsters"

Dominique: She switched out the colors in the gun and leaned over to get a look at the other half of his back then sat back down. "When you aren't donating your time there you can come hang out here. Have noticed some shady characters lately and complaints of a thief or two hanging out. You are free to do your thing."

Luffy: "I'll do what I can then. I have all kinds of things scheduled out to do. Waiting on the snow to arrive for the real fun to begin. It's Otter sledding weather." He chuckled quietly. "so what color did you just change to?

Dominique: The mention of otter sledding has her chuckling. It was a memory indeed. She had rescued an out of place looking otter from the middle of the busy road. She took it home and introduced it to her hot tub. That is when the paladin was witness to just what the otter was capable of. Luffy in his vampire form appeared much to her shock. He asked about ink color so she rolled back then held up the gray that will be used in the shadowing of the skull to add depth to the piece across his back. "I would like to see that. Otter sledding..." She goes back to work on the tattoo.

Luffy: "i'll see if the tribe would be willing to allow you to watch. I'm not entirely sure about you being able to participate though. It works best without clothing, and, well that'd probably be illegal." he nodded at the grey and set his head back down as he watched her.
Dominique: "Well..." She filled in a spot that was nearly missed. "There is no way I can be out there without clothes in all my inked glory sliding around with a bunch of otters without drawing attention to myself. I can watch but the minute I drop pants and do the slip and slide with a litter...is that what they are called or a pride or well whatever it is that they call a pack of you guys...“I would bet they would try hauling me away."

Luffy: "Would you believe that scientists call a group of otters a romp? Due to the playing around." Tapping his fingers lightly he spoke again. "They'd more than likely ask you on dates, or pay you to dance for them.We could at least go sledding like normal people for you as well. That would be fun."

Dominique: "I am game. Do they like snowmobiling? I can rig up a sled and tie it to the back of my snowmobile and make traveling easier for them. Can run a shuttle on Monday Wednesday and Friday's?"

Luffy: He laughed at the idea of a bunch of otters sitting in a sled being towed by a snow mobile. "i don't know, but it'd be pretty funny to see. We can always find out though. By the way, do you ever plan on letting me know your real name?" He raise an eyebrow as he watched her examine the locket. He couldn't help but smile at her dimples. "Whether you feel like you deserve it or not, you're going to hear it. It's because you're the complete opposite of myself. you are the light to my shadow. when you've been doing things i've done for so long, you tend to forget what it's like to be human. and before you say it, that's also pre vampire." He shrugged slightly. "That came more poetic than it sounded in my head, but it's the truth. The other guys in that picture were my best friends in the gang we created, two of them died while I was locked up

Dominique: Dominique looked at him. He was talking about the one he met, that plucked him up from a busy street. The one who believed there was a chance at saving the world and there was a thing called hope. She looked her right hand as she changed out the ink. A subtle shake of her head had her look up to him. "It's amazing, Luffy, that you say that." She leaned back for something she didn't need because it gave her a moment longer to consider what she was going to say next. "That light burned out. She is gone." She felt the brief lift to the corner of her mouth to form a small smile. It wasn't a loss to her. It was what it was and nothing more. "Everything changes. STAIND. They said it best..." She looked up. "Sang it actually." The gun went back to work.

Dominique: Luffy had more light in his pinky than she currently did in her body. It went out just over a year ago and she finally accepted what she was, who she was in its wake. She was becoming what she was and not looking back.

Luffy: He shook his head and laughed slightly. "You're still very much a foolish young woman aren't you? You may have allowed it to dim, but it is far from gone. You just need a proper catalyst to bring it back to full light. Yes, everything changes, and yes one needs to adapt to those changes. However, one must also have the strength to remember who they are." He pointed to her chest without moving his entire arm to as to avoid disrupting her work. "It is still there if you wish. Though if you have given up hope, well...that would be a sad notion indeed."

Dominique: "Not foolish, Luffy." She didn't bother looking up because she had a lot of work left in front of her. "I grew up a lot. I still am upright and walking and grow stronger every night from what I learn." Finally her eyes lifted briefly to meet his. "I hardly call that giving up." She had done the total opposite. Embracing the full extent of the shadows power was only the beginning.

Luffy: He shook his head again. He kept his eyes on her as she worked on his back. "One can stand, walk, but can one say they've gotten stronger when they've lost sight of the person they were meant to be?" He closed his eyes for a brief moment. "But then again, we've had this same kind of conversation in the past and it always ended the same, with you never actually believing me."

Dominique: "Because Luffy we are the masters of our own fates. I made my choices and walk my path. You are on the outside looking in. Just as I do with you. We cannot know for certain unless we have walked the same exact footsteps as the other. Trust me on this I am just fine. Acceptance brings awareness. I have learned more in the last year than I ever thought a lifetime could teach. I will always discuss it with you. It's not a matter of believing or not. The facts and reality remain in force." She finally had the outline complete on the skull back piece.

Luffy: "I can run from one place to another in a matter of seconds now. Heal wounds that would normally have killed me. I can step out of hell like nothing happened. Reality can be bent these days. However, I sadly believe changing your perspective will happen." He sighed and remained lying on the table.

Dominique: "Will or won't? Change is not bad. It is expected. One must always grow or progress or it is called death. I don't choose to ignore the calling any longer to move forward." The filling in of the skull design was now her focus. "Can't save the world or fix broken wings. Save yourself the trouble."

Luffy: He rolled onto his side then swung into a sitting position he stared hard at her. "then show me this new found strength of yours. this sudden forward movement you have. If you can prove it, then I'll not stop you from breaking any further. If you can't, well, then allow me the chance to mend your broken wings." he tilted his head at the woman and waited for her response.

Dominique: "Mine aren't broken. It was a figure of speech. Lay back down so the rest of this gets done and you aren't walking around looking half-assed." With that she nudged him back down. "I don't care if it takes only a day or two to disappear the **** will look decent until it's gone." She went back to work with the gun and his skin.

Luffy: "And this is what happened to your conviction?" He reached back and grabbed hold of the gun. Luffy looked into the woman's eyes. his mouth turned into a scowl. "You can finish it after. Right now, I want to see a demonstration first. Prove to me why i should simply give up."

Dominique: "Give up what?" She took the gun back. "You need training to hold one of these. It is not a toy and should be taken seriously. Now lay down!" She growled grabbing her rolling stool with her foot. "I run a tight ship around here. I suggest you make it easy on yourself and let me finish."

Luffy: "And if I refuse? How will you keep me down? Are you that confident in your own strength?" He remained sitting and just stared at her. "As i said, you'll get to finish it, after you prove to me that I'm entirely wrong."

Dominique: "Luffy..." She turned off the gun and set it down. "I am not going to fight you to finish a tattoo. Your skull sucks right now... Just saying. I don't have to prove a thing to you or anyone else for that matter."

Luffy: He climbed down off of the table, smiled then placed both hands on her thighs. Leaning forward he placed a kiss on her forehead. "That will suffice." He climbed back on the table and laid down. "Though, I do miss the sparring matches we used to engage in."

Dominique: "You want me to kick your ***?" She reached back to the utility cart for the gun. "I still can. I just think it isn't fair to turn you into a pretzel when you are sporting half a skull on your back." She winked at him as he went back to behaving. "Good Luffy."

Luffy: "I highly doubt you can. I will admit though, I was worried that you were about to let me goad you into an actual fight. I'd have disliked having to patch you back up. I highly doubt you'd have then held me to my promise. Which I am looking forward to of course."

Dominique: "I think you have been smoking something good." Luffy was a trip. Sweetest guy but when he got something in his head he was the last one to let it go. "You can't kick my ***, Luffy. Don't even try. And if you really wanna go be sure to slip into a set of spandex and wear your superhero cape. I take it seriously."

Luffy: He raised an eyebrow. "You're also assuming I've just been sitting on my butt eating bon bons. And if I remember correctly, we've always been even in a match. I'll stick to my usual attire though if you don't mind. I didn't study Wing Chun to dress like Batman." He winked back at the woman and smiled. "I'm no slouch you know."

Dominique: "What is wrong with Batman?" Her eyes narrowed. "And Wing Chun...I have a class of Kendo I will raise you with. Bring some jeet kune do under your belt. I have found it works for me."

Luffy: "Combat Hapkido and Shao Lin Wushu actually. How's that tattoo coming along?" He glanced over at her. "There's nothing wrong with him, I'm just going to dress up as him. I'd prefer something that allows more movement"

Dominique: "Superman with the shaolin smooth moves?" She smirked. "It will be finished soon. That is if you stay put and quit crawling off the chair."

Luffy: "More like, I got the moves like Jagger." He grinned at her. "I don't know about you, but I missed this. Being around you."

Dominique: "I am glad." She found the ink she needed was still left in the gun. "I missed picking on you too. You and your pumped up kicks, eh?"

Luffy: "Combat boots hide the blood better. You should see my new car though. It's kind of a big deal." He glanced over at the woman and grinned. Soon as you're done, massage."

Luffy: "Combat boots hide the blood better. You should see my new car though. It's kind of a big deal." He glanced over at the woman and grinned. Soon as you're done, massage."

Dominique: Dominique eyes him before she sets back to working on the last of the tattoo. It was filling in the middle and the shadowing. Her eyes stray over to his footwear then sets her focus once again. "What did you get?"

Luffy: "I got a specialized SUV recently." He tapped his fingers lightly on the table he was stretched out across. He glanced over at her again. "Tell me, truthfully, when's the last time you truly smiled...Jane?" He cracked his knuckles against the table.

Luffy: "I got a specialized SUV recently." He tapped his fingers lightly on the table he was stretched out across. He glanced over at her again. "Tell me, truthfully, when's the last time you truly smiled...Jane?" He cracked his knuckles against the table

Dominique: "The other night. My sister came home." She smiled a little. "Why?" Her hand pulled back from the flesh beneath the tool in her hand briefly then returned to its work.

Luffy: "Because of your eyes. All the things that you hid from me when we were together, you never could hide your emotions behind your eyes. I'm not that smart, but smart enough to notice that. Also the fact that you never truly trusted in me." He glanced back at her again as she focused on her work.

Dominique: Dominique had to look up. His words tugged her focus to him and tugged at her from the inside as well. Of course she trusted him then. She just didn't entirely trust herself. She wasn't comfortable with what was there. It still was an issue she struggled with. Explaining it to him served no purpose. It only would deepen that hole she was putting herself in already. She sighed and paused the guns progress. "I am sorry." She meant it. Hurting him like she did was certainly nothing she was proud of. Her eyes stayed on him. "I am." Would she change what she said back then when he and Verne were in the same room and there was a gun between them? No, because she meant that too. She meant it enough that she would never say those three words again to another in the same context. Family was the exception.

Luffy: "See, that sadness right there, you bottle it up inside you. And what, exactly are you sorry for? If it's for the lack of trust and the lies, then why come up with such a weak lie like toothpaste, why not just tell me the truth? If it's something else, perhaps you made the wrong choices. But, if you feel those choices were right, then I do not your apologies for that.* He smiled and motioned for her to come closer.

Dominique: "I didn't choose wrong. I chose with my heart but I hurt others while I did. I could not lie about something I only became aware of in that very moment. Something took place and changed. I can't explain it. I do know I will never feel it again. Ever. It's not sadness. I am fine. Toothpaste is still important, Luffy. Oral hygiene is not to be something you routinely slack on. She ignored the motion to come closer. She was working on his tattoo and was going to do that.

Luffy: "Then, do not apologize for what happened back then. Though, I wish you would stop lying to me and talk. Assuming you actually trust me enough, you've never actually said how that it is one way or the other. If you never learned who you can trust, then whatever strength you think you have is meaningless" He scratched at a small itch on the the back of his hand while he spoke.

Dominique: She blinked and her hand retreated closer to her while the gun hummed. "What am I lying about?"

Luffy: "Tonight, it was about why you have the scent of blood on you. When you were turned, it was about the one who did it. You also continue to dodge the questions I ask. So I'm going to ask Do you trust me? And why do you smell like you bathed in blood?"

Dominique: She looked down and without worrying if he was watching her or not she pulled the fabric from her shirt upward just enough to meet her face and nose as she bowed it down. She tasted it still in her mind, the back of her throat and so it was there but not in her clothes. They were fresh. She had showered, used lotion. She smelled that even while her mind was vivid in recalling the blood. Her brow lifted as she looked to him. "Because you are thinking about blood?" She wasn't going to lie but she sure as hell didn't owe anyone details about what she had been doing or where she had been before she sat down in her shop and started to work on a customer which Luffy was. A friend too. But she was as private as anyone could be and it was well known.

Luffy: "I see." He sat up and climbed off the table and headed to collect his shirt. "Give me a call when you've decided I'm worthy of your trust and friendship."

Dominique: Dominique stared at him. Her eyes followed him as he moved. Was he seriously going to be upset? She didn't understand. It wasn't like she was going to grill him about where he was before he walked into the shop. "Friendship doesn't mean you have to divulge your actions or whereabouts. It is about freedom in the moment and owing nothing and that being accepted." She shut off the gun because he was obviously done. She was as well. There was no way in hell she was in the mood to discuss it with anyone.

Luffy: He paused and shook his head. He set his shirt down and walked up to her. Placing his hands on either side of her legs, Luffy stared into her eyes. "Friendship is also about knowing when something is wrong. It's about having someone to turn to. It's about trust, and yes, acceptance. None of which you seem to have for me. And my guess is, you never have."

Dominique: "Luffy, I am not less of a friend or lack trust because I don't tell you why I smell like blood, **** or sex. Friends overlook those things if anything. Although if I have a booger hanging out of my nose I do expect you to tell me. You need to wash your beard by the way." She nodded.

Luffy: "They do, but it's not a normal smell for you. My beard is fine by the way, I used special shampoo specifically for this night." He gently cupped her face in his hands and sighed. "God you frustrate me sometimes. Though that's one of those things I've always enjoyed about you." He leaned down and kissed her lips for a brief moment before pulling back.

Dominique: She watched him as he pulled away and finally smiled a little. “Luffy, I want to rebuild our friendship if that is okay? Can we do that?” She hurt him once. She was not going to do it again.

Luffy: He tilted his head slightly at her. “Was it ever really broken to begin with?” He climbed back on the table and settled in again. “Should probably finish this thing I guess. Also, you realize since you don’t believe me, we should probably have a sleep over. That way I can prove It’ll go away by morning.”

Dominique: She watched him climb back on the table which had LESS reaching for the ink gun while he did. A smile found her lips as she waited for him to settle in. Once the sound of the ink gun buzzing started up she sat back down on the rolling shop stool and glided in closer to him. “I wouldn’t be up to notice, Luffy. I find the first sign of sunrise and I am dead to the world. I hope to get to the point that I will be able to be up during the day but don’t see that happening for awhile. I will see you tomorrow night. If it is gone then I have a back up plan. One way or another trust that I will figure out a way to make this stick permanently.” She nodded and leaned in and went back to work while taking vernal notice of his suggestion of a sleep over. “Sleep overs are quite the thing it seems. I have had my niece sleeping over recently. She swears by them. she is one of those rare, bubbly and burping up rainbows types. She says they are pretty much the answer to everything. However, I prefer to sleep alone. Not like you interact while you are asleep anyways. Actually it is pointless.”
