Walking up on the stage Pi grabs the microphone. This was usually Elliot’s job, the one under the spotlight. She had taken centre stage last year for the auction, walking up on the raised platform to introduce the participants.

This year it felt more comfortable, the idea of the auction a little more settled in her mind. She even knew what she was going to do with the money. For Haven and for Sanctuary.

“Welcome everyone to the second annual auction raising money for Haven, a trust dedicated to helping people in need. Thank you to those who have signed up to be sold... and those here to bid.

We open our auction with someone very special and one big article of a man, standing over seven feet tall he’ll be sure to be able to pull his weight on … any task you give him. One of the largest…”
Pausing for effect and because she was replacing the word she was going to say, she finished. “man in the city.”

“Let the bidding begin… for Mordechai!”

Smiling as she waves the man onto the stage Pi lets him take front and centre, along with the paid auctioneer keeping track of the bids for her.

(ooc: Auction card is approved and bidding can now start. Please note auction order and Rp with that in mind.)

Seeing the huge killer on the block was a surprise to the Allurist but Alex had extra funds available for just such unexpected opportunities. The blonde thought she caught his eyes for a brief moment and gave a wink as she cheerful placed her first bid.

"1,000 bucks for the cowboy!"

Sitting off in a dark corner Trahir watches the proceedings quietly. He has only been to Lancaster's once before since food and drink are no longer on the menu for the vampire. This auction though, it's mildly interesting. Sanctuary was not there when he was new and instead it was Velveteen and Micah who took him in and taught him how to survive.

While he has little to know faith in the survival instincts of the vampires of Harper Rock and has looked into options for relocation when the Masquerade inevitably comes crashing down and causes a new holocaust, there is definitely merit in having powerful alliances and acquaintances.

Trahir is willing to pay to make friends it the long term benefit is worth the cost and the monster before him may very well be the muscle he needs later on.

"Five thousand," he says with a slight accent, hard to place, a bastardization of many places.

The mammoth killer stood silently in the center of the stage where Pi had led him. He still was not quite sure what he was doing here. He seldom interacted with anyone anymore. It had been weeks since he had spoken with Pru or Zo. The visits with kennedy had been short, more business than pleasure. He had been become immune to the call of company, exiling himself to the old castle in the north, doing what he did best, killing. Killing the seemingly endless horde of lionelli gangsters that were flocking to the city. Each time a threat had arisen to his new life, he had answered the call to battle, and this one was no different. His pack was full of parts for his beloved kennedy, and he was low on ammo, so he made one of his infrequent forays into the city. In passing he caught sight of a flyer, the annual auctions were happening, happening tonight. In the past he had always bought, in fact last year he had bought two, but this year was different. He still wished to help, but there was an emptiness inside that he couldn't name. Slowing his bike he had wheeled towards Lancaster's, and now here he was, center stage.

Mordechai's pack and weapons were all stowed on his bike, only the ever present fairebairne-sykes in his boots had enter the bar with him. Listening to the announcement Pi was making he wondered how he had ended up here, center stage. The killer drew himself up to his full seven foot three inch height as Pi mentioned his size, letting his duster slip from his shoulders to expose the three hundred thirty pounds of heavily layered muscle held in by a black silk shirt and his leather jeans. A voice spoke from the crowd, it registered within him somewhere that he knew it, and with a slight nod Mordechai acknowledged the opening bid on him. It was Alex, another he had not seen in months. He was uncomfortable not sure what to do. Center stage was kennedy's forte. Mordechai's was the fringe, the shadows, the edges of humanity, where he could slip through undetected til he struck. He had no idea where this would end up, but at least the money would be going to support fledglings, train them. Feed them. Hide them. Hopefully keep them from becoming causalties of the war they would be daily living.

Another voice spoke up, and his worth rose with it. A stranger had voiced five thousand. The killer's eyes met the unknown's, taking his worth and evaluating, appraising. Interesting, this one was young. Young but strong, well versed in the art of battle. He had a hard look to him and once more Mordechai wondered what purpose lied beneath his bid. An arched eyebrow acknowledged the man in the back as once more Mordechais calculating gaze swept silently over the crowd.

Mortll was amazed to see the large killer on stage ... She had not seen him in almost half a year. They had almost became strangers ... she heard Kennedy talking about him occasionally when she saw the woman at work but Mortll rarely got too involved with the shows she had picked Kennedy for a reason the woman was good and she did not have to worry about her in her job. She knew what the killers quality's were and what he was capable of these people were looking for a steal ... Mortll raised her hand "50 thousand " She said in a clear and precise voice .

Grant Stonehouse loved to socialize. A Drink and a laugh at the bar with his friends would never be a disappointment, and opportunities to network were always appealing. Since arriving in Harper Rock, things had changed - dramatically changed. Crowds were now like a curse, with a dozen voices of chatting women merging into one, almost frying Stonehouse’s brain, and the odours of a group of working men, complete with their sweat masking antiperspirant spays, scrambling his sense of smell to the point that he would almost sneeze, uncontrollably. He would try to avoid a gathering, but the whispers that echoed around the cold, lonely sewer tunnels had drawn Stonehouse out of hiding. The word on the street was that an auction was going to take place at Lancaster’s, but no ordinary sale: this one would have people as the lots.

The premise reminded Stonehouse of his time at university in Liverpool. The Student Union had organized a “student slave market” to raise money for Alder Hey, the local children’s hospital, and for the student welfare fund which helped out pupils who had fallen on hard times. The word “charity” somehow allowed people to do crazy things, such as put themselves up for auction to the highest bidder. The event itself, held in the town hall, was both hilarious and in some ways cringeworthy. Middle-aged women fought for ownership of the hunky young rugby players in the hope that they may possibly remove their tight-fitting t-shirts when they fulfilled their auction obligations of mowing their lawns. Men on the verge of a midlife crisis ogled at the attractive sociology students, hoping that by winning the bid to have them babysit their kids, it would somehow lead to something else. Thankfully, a large sum of money was raised, so everyone went home happy, including Stonehouse, whose lot was won by a lovely elderly couple in need of a garage clearance.

Stonehouse had already met Pi, a proprietor at Lancaster’s, following a rather unsavoury incident involving a gun and an unfortunate gangster’s head. Slipping into a dark corner of the pub, Stonehouse eagerly scoured the establishment, but failed to recognize many other faces, if any. To be fair, he hardly knew anyone in Harper Rock, but the auction could potentially prove to be a valuable way to make acquaintances. Stonehouse waited patiently in the shadows for the opening ceremony to begin, keeping himself to himself, and wasn’t disappointed at the sight of the first offering to be introduced on stage. A giant of a man, a behemoth that would surely be an invaluable ally, stood centre stage, awaiting bids. First a woman piped up offering one thousand dollars, followed by a call of five thousand from a man hidden away in another corner of the bar. Stonehouse knew how useful this man-mountain could be, and was poised to raise both hands, fingers and thumbs outstretched, to indicate a bid of ten thousand dollars, when a huge bid of fifty thousand dollars came crashing in. Stonehouse frowned as his plans were instantly scuppered. He didn’t have that much cash spare, in fact he barely had that much cash full stop.

Suddenly the idea hit him like a diamond bullet between the eyes. Stonehouse needed to put himself up for auction in an attempt to raise some money. The auction was clearly already underway, and lot numbers had been assigned for each participant prior to the event commencing, but Stonehouse hoped that he could squeeze in at the end. An arrogant smirk broke out across cocksure businessman’s chiselled face. Oh yes, why not save the best until last? Stonehouse turned his attention back to the stage, in the knowledge that for now, this man was sadly out of his financial league.

Mordechai watched silently as the auction drew to a close. He had never really stopped singling out and identifying those he found interesting, and those he marked as threats. Surprisingly enough, very viewed as threats, but 2 or 3 he had earmarked as interesting. Perhaps when his bound duties here were over, he would go stalking prey of a different nature.... His eyes locked onto the male stranger that had bid on him earlier... Yes, he would definitely be hunting to find what this man interest had been in him. The massive killer was quite certain they had not met before.
