Sanctuary - The Haven for Fledgling Vampires

Phase One:
Was building the Sanctuary. For those that didn't know, the Sanctuary has apartments reserved solely for vampires level 20 (or lower) to purchase.

We also hope to integrate some "Fledgling friendly" items into Sanctuary, we'll work through those as we progress.

So the Sanctuary (the apartment building) is mostly finished.

Probably I need to put down a few other things that would make it convenient for people who bought property in the space, especially new characters who have bought basement property.

Phase two is about to kick in shortly; so watch this space.

I've been talking to Chloe about having Pi work IC with new vampires through Sanctuary to help out. That part will be mostly Chloe, with me jumping in when my brain isn't overwhelmed with University. But we both like the idea of helping out new players, and using the Sanctuary as the basis for doing more with Pi and Elliot.

It's been a while since the Office of the Under Secretary and the Sanctuary was the first phase of Pi circling back to her original intention to create a place that helps fledglings. Now it could be new new players, who need help, or current players who have created a new character, who are looking to RP their new vampire character in need of help? Either works for us.

Now while you're watching this space, how about some ideas for the Sanctuary building, that would make it New Vampire Friendly? Portals? Shops? Whatever? What should the Sanctuary have, that would facilitate good stuff for new vampires?

Do you have an Idea? - our current ones are;
  • Tomes for any basement owners - Thanks Susan!
  • Access (two way) to the QZ so new players/characters have easy access to zombies (thanks Psyche's Player!)
Love to hear more.

Best thing in the world would be a way for them to find out about it as soon as they join.
Any chance you can get The David to add a blurb to the welcome email or added to the tutorial?

I love that idea! I think that would be awesome-sauce, however I also think it might be a bit unfair to have a game mechanic that points to an IC faction doing something like this, even if ultimately, it's an idea to help new players.

I'd be keen, but I can see where people wouldn't be entirely au fait with the idea, even if it is two long term mods doing it.

Well I think TFF (The Fledgling Foundation) should get a mention as well and have suggested that before. Perhaps rather than mention both or either, a link to a post on this forum with a list of places to go to get help?

We're going to be doing this a bit differently from TFF. Sanctuary apartments and Haven will have a more RP focus, which will incorporate into a practical ooc helping hand.

But mostly, the plan is for it to be RP based in how it's rolled out. What I thought might be cool, is if there is a new player/vampire who approaches Haven, whether any of the established players would like the opportunity to become that player/vampire's mentor?

Like, we could create a thread here in OOC RP planning, and then when Haven gets the tap from a new player vampire, we create a post in here and then see who would like to mentor/RP with the new player/vampire?

That means it'll open up opportunities for established players to meet brand new players, and the reverse is true of the new new players. They get some RP with people who have been around a while. Could be cool?

TFF isn't even really around or active anymore.

But good looking out, Alexandrea.

Blake's got a new thing going on that's kinda replacing TFF.

:)

I'm really looking forward to this. Lots of RP to be had.

Alexandrea can come help out as a Mentor? Lancaster has access to TFF. Maybe those who are still around and paying attention would like to become Mentors as part of TFF? They could work together?

Because it is still around and has an established board. No need to replace it.

Seeing as there has been lots of work into helping fledglings from different areas. I have seen no use to TFF for a while now. It has been tried to be used and failed several times - there just wasn't enough interest in it.

It's nice to see people being able to use the idea and make it work. *shrugs*

TFF is too far buried to be revived.
But yes, if you want the people from TFF to help you mentor in the new area go for it. I'm sure Alex would love a more active to help *nod*

This was meant for here:

The Sanctuary sounds like it could really be well done with enough support and if you need a teacher, just ask Myk. He sure does act like one most of the time... <.<

I am a little concerned over the influx of people to keep the turn-over rates decent, however. This is probably the wrong place to ask, but what is Path doing in terms of Marketing? How are we keeping the new players incoming and are those strategies being measured for effectiveness? Are there campaigns being run to promote the brand? Is there anything being done on a staff level or are we relying on word of mouth, etc?

Myk and I are willing to help, regardless. <3

In response to your influx of members.
I believe it is word of mouth - and the voting websites we have at the bottom in the 'topsites' tab. I'm not sure if there is anything else being done from a marketing side of things from my knowledge I believe the topsites and word of mouth, that is how Path is being advertised.
