What goes bump in the dark?

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Lita was sitting at a table right by the door to make things easier on Elighan, as she promised. He had some things to tell her, and she, him. Something about subsets of humans and then there was her 'issue,' she needed to discuss with him. She wasn't wearing anything overly fancy, some red dress with a swoop neck, dotted with white polka dots, a belt that secured the fabric to her waist and the same colored white shoes that the dots were. Accented with her favorite red lipstick of course. She smiled when she saw him, and he her, then waved him over to her.
Elighan:
I’m not entirely convinced I’ll be able to keep myself calm in the restaurant but Melete makes things easier for me just by being there to distract me. When I see her, I make my way straight to her table, greet her and then cup her face to kiss her tenderly. She smiled at me when she saw me and I always think she looks so much prettier when she’s smiling. I love seeing her happy and right now, she looks happy. I just hope that I can keep her that way. I sit with my back to the restaurant in the hopes that it will ease my anxiety. Sometimes I prefer to sit in the corner so I can see everything but sometimes it just seems easier to try and block everything out. “Did you fancy a night out?”
Adelita:
Her smile almost falters when he kisses her in that way. Like couples do. Didn't she already tell him that they weren't dating? That seemed to her, like something only couples did. Dating and the married kind. Lita felt the need to bolt as her fingers clasped around the table's lip, but nodded her head. "I thought it would be nice. Something different." She said with a gentle roll of her shoulders. "And I thought we could continue our conversation with drinks and food." She held up a wary hand. "No, I'm not pregnant." Lita didn't eat a lot of food unless she cooked it, usually, but every once in a while she felt like eating French fries. The diet of champions. Or of a vampire that never had to worry about getting fat.
Elighan:
“It’s a lovey idea. Thank you for inviting me. I just hope that I don’t disappoint you.” And I honestly do hope that I don’t. Not only is it emasculating to freak out in front of Adelita, but it’s embarrassing in general too. A grown man should not get so worked up when surrounded by people. I cast my eyes around the restaurant and size up the other patrons. I’m willing to bet that Adelita is the most deadly person here and she’s the one I’m sitting with. So really, what do I have to fear? Logically, I know my issue is all in my head. Subconsciously, I hate being surrounded by too many people.
Adelita:
"Let's start with you, shall we?" Adelita said as she handed a menu over to him and took one for herself, to skim through it. Her eyes searched for Mexican beer, any kind, but didn't see it, so would have to settle for a glass of wine first and then her fries and a soda. "You met with someone, si?" She set the menu back in the middle of the table, eyes still on Elighan as she crossed her left leg over her right and sat back in the chair a little, allowing herself to get comfortable.
Elighan:
I shake my head ever so slightly when she says we should start with me. My mind goes straight into the gutter and I’m glad the beautiful creature sitting opposite me doesn’t know that. Adelita can be very suggestive when she wants to be, so I’m honestly not surprised that that’s the first direction my mind goes. I simply nod and glance over the menu. I’m not sure what I want to eat, as I wasn’t expecting to eat just yet. “Yes. I’ve met a couple of interesting people recently. One called themselves a blood thief, another, a sorcerer and the sorcerer told me about a subsect of people called paladins. It’s all a bit much to take in but I can’t deny the truth of their words considering I have powers of my own.”
Adelita:
Blood thieves. Paladins and Sorcerers. Lita had heard of them too and seen two kinds. The blood thieves and the Paladins. Sometimes she entertained the thieves...two hundred bucks wasn't something to scoff at in her mind, but the other set she could do without. They were the ones that shot her in the sewers for no real reason. Pendejos. The world would be better without the likes of those humans. Lita just nodded her head. "So, which do you think you are, Elighan?" Lita was pretty confident he wasn't a blood thief. After all, he had never asked for her blood. The idea of him being a paladin? It certainly had her on edge, and it showed, just a little when Adelita sat up, her body becoming slightly tense.
Elighan:
I notice the tension creeping into her body as we speak about the different types of humans there seem to be in and around the city. There could be more that I have yet to hear about but I’m not overly concerned about that, as I am in fact one of the three. I reach over and take her hand, squeezing it gently. “My new abilities align me with those called sorcerers. And no. I cannot create fireballs on command. Though there are apparently other powers available to me that I have yet to obtain. Not that I am guaranteed to inherit all of the know powers.” I pause to allow her to ask any questions she might have at this point, even though I haven’t really told her all that much.
Adelita:
Sorcerer. As soon as he said that, the tension subsided and Lita nodded. Relieved. She was relieved. The talk of fireballs made her laugh a little, before she looked him over. " So, now what?" She asked him before a waitress came for their order, Lita taking this moment to free her hand to pass the menu back to the waitress once she ordered her glass of wine pre-fries and soda.
Elighan:
What now? I’m not sure what to say to that. I haven’t really had enough time to work out what this means for me. I should probably tell her a little of what I learned, but I’m not sure if she’s interested or not. “I’m not sure what you mean. But I would be happy to tell you a little of what I learned about what I am. For starters, and this one might interest you a little. I will age differently. Apparently all the subsects age more slowly. I don’t think I’ll need to worry about the consequences of that for a few years yet, though it could definitely cause me a few issues in the long term if it appears that I am not aging. Though I suppose you have that issue also. I kind of like the fact that your beauty will never fade.” I pick up her hand and gently kiss her knuckles. I’m not flattering her for the sake of saying something. I mean what I say. I hope she realises this. The fact that I’m able to hold her eyes should hopefully show as much.
Adelita:
"How slowly?" Lita looked down at their hands and frowned. He was doing that couple thing again. At least she thought so. "And your thoughts about...us? Vampi-You know. Has that changed since finding any of this out? Paladins are not nice people. Blood thieves," Lita shrugged her shoulders, uncertain what to say about them, "I don't know much about your type. Sorcerers. I doubt I have seen any." The waitress brings her glass of red wine to the table and Lita eagerly takes it and sips a large sip from the glass.
Elighan:
I’d ordered a glass of red and wait to toast with Adelita before I drink but she’s a little quick to bring her glass to her lips, so I swallow down any words I may have said and take a sip of the red before crinkling my nose slightly; it tastes corked. I’ll order another glass when the waitress comes back. Perhaps ask for a bottle so I know I won’t be served from the same bottle again. “I’m not sure of the specifics but I have been told that there are a few sorcerers known to be over a few hundred years old. So I can expect to live an unnaturally long life.” I’m not worried about what I’m saying as I’m not shouting my words and unless we are surrounded by supernaturals, no-one is going to be able to hear what I say. Especially since Adelita has made sure that the table next to us will remain empty. “You’ve definitely seen one sorcerer Melete, since I’m sitting right here.” I remind her. “Apparently we specialise in energy manipulation or control. I’m not sure how to explain it really. It does explain my ability to be able to boost energies and magics.”
Adelita:
"One. I've met and seen one." Lita can't help but wonder if him being a sorcerer had anything to do with how and why she became pregnant with his little monster. Sure, it took two to tango, but Lita tangoed a lot before Elighan and nada. Adelita sets the glass down, disappointed in the taste of it after taking a large gulp down. "Well...I don't know what to say." Lita, as rare as it was, was lost on words. "Congratulations? Mystery solved?" She offered him another smile before the waitress returned to deliver the fries and her soda.
Elighan:
As soon as the waitress returns, I hand her my wine glass and ask her to bring me a bottle of Pinot Noir. I don’t tell her that we require flesh glasses to go with it, as I’m sure I don’t need to tell her how to do her job. When she goes away again, I reply to Adelita. “I’m very happy to know what’s going on with me. Unanswered questions are horribly annoying. Don’t you think?” I look down at my steak and chips, it looks good but it smells better. I think by now Adelita must be seeing a pattern in my eating habits.
Adelita:
Lita doesn't answer his question right away. Instead, she takes a couple sips from the soda the waitress brought her and then proceeded to make a mixture of ketchup and mayonnaise mix by using a fry to stir it all together. She tastes it, adds more ketchup and nods her head after a second tasting. "I couldn't agree more." Adelita had a lot of unanswered questions running through her mind lately. "It's good you know what's going on." Even if it was a little strange and new to take in. But no stranger than being a vampire, right? "Do you remember when I died?" Adelita asked before continuing on, not wanting to rehash why she died or make Elighan feel guilty. "The night I died, something weird happened." That was one way of putting it. "I met someone that night." Adelita confessed, rather openly, because she didn't really have another person to talk to about this. Ambrose, Tizoc, whatever he wanted to be referred to as, hadn't been overly helpful, and since getting kicked from Andras, the only people Lita had to talk to was Elighan or Niklaus; the one person in Andras who didn't care she got the boot. But for some reason, Lita never brought this topic up with the other male. She sighed. "I don't know where to begin." Adelita finally admitted, her eyes moving from the plate of fries, to Elighan.
Elighan:
With one sentence I lose my appetite. What does she mean she met someone? The next sentence does nothing to sway the thoughts running through my mind. I’m ashamed to admit that I actually start to wonder if she died at all. If she met someone, perhaps she just decided to spend a week with them instead of me. I place my knife and fork down and try not to jump to conclusions. “Melete. My mind is racing with some very unpleasant thoughts right now so I’d really prefer you tell me the whole story all at once.” My hands slip under the table and curl into fists which I rest on my legs as I try not to think the worst.
Adelita:
Adelita notices the shift in his body language and she too becomes defensive. "I met a man, Elighan." Adelita said, her tone harsh. "And before you start getting more unpleasant thoughts, you have no right to. We weren't together. We had only fucked one night." A lot of times. "You didn't have your 'rule,' then." Her eyes narrowed at him from across the table. "I was following someone I knew...know. You know my background. He and I are of the same calibre. Anyways, he's like Winny is, to someone else." Lita stopped to take another sip of her soda before continuing. "It was strange. When I met his master, it was like...nothing else mattered or existed. Everything he said, I believed. Maybe I still believe what he said, or believe he believes what he says. That doesn't matter." She sighed, frustrated. "The second I met him, it was like...I had to be with him, even if I knew absolutely nothing about him. It was weird." Adelita shrugged her shoulders, leaving out the finer details until if, and when he asked.
Elighan:
I know I must look seriously unimpressed with what she’s said but honestly. What am I meant to say to that? Congratulations? This was before she made her promise to me but then she didn’t even agree she’d made that promise the first time around. The woman drives me crazy. I stare at her trying to swallow down a feeling that threatens to crush me. Is this why she brought me here? So she could tell me about this person she met, this person she has to be. A person who is not me. What am I supposed to do with this information? Is she trying to hurt me. I take a moment and then voice my concerns. “Are you just telling me this to hurt me Adelita? Because if you are, I think I’d prefer not to hear the rest of this story. Assuming there is more to hear that what you’ve already said.”
Adelita:
"Elighan, not everything I do is about you." Lita sighed, tossing a fry down on the plate in front of her. "I bring it up because you aren't the only one with weird things going on in their life and I thought maybe...I don't know. Maybe you could tell me something useful. Since you have better contacts than I do, apparently." If not better, than at least more. "I met him again. After I came back." She said quietly. "He mentioned some creatures that might have had something to do with what happened between us." She reclaimed the drink on the table and took a large drink from it. "Mermaids, sirens, and incubus. Have you ever heard of any of these things before?" Adelita hadn't, and still wasn't sure if any of those things had anything to do with the night she met Ambrose. It just seemed completely far-fetched. Adelita not in control of her own decisions? Unlikely.
Elighan:
No. She’s not telling me the story to hurt me but she doesn’t seem to care that it does either. I know that not everything that happens in this world is about me and I’m a little insulted but I sit there and take it. She knew her words would upset. She knew and she said them anyway. And now she’s talking about mythical creatures. I can’t help but sigh and loudly at that as I wipe my hand down my face. “Of course I’ve heard of those creatures, but much like vampires they are thought to be nothing more than myths. Personally I’m not entirely unconvinced that you yourself are not a succubus. The succubus being a female incubus.” I stop myself from continuing before I explain that succubi are incredibly sexual and alluring creatures, as I really don’t wish to be thinking of Adelita that way right now. “I don’t believe I’m following you here Adelita. What exactly happened between you and this guy you had to be with, and why are we talking about mythological creatures?” I know I should have connected the dots already but I’m only half paying attention to the conversation at this point as I’m still stuck on ‘I had to be with him’ phrasing.
Adelita:
Adelita smiled at the compliment of being called a succubus, even though most people wouldn't. "Well, gee, Elighan. I don't know. Maybe it was the fact that I let him kill me, gladly?" Adelita rolled her eyes. Even if death was inevitable, she had wanted to make Elighan suffer a little while she suffered too. "Or the fact that I saw him again and didn't **** him that time." Adelita moved the plate to the centre of the table, the non-existent appetite completely demolished now.
Elighan:
I’m not sure what the noise is that I make when she says she didn’t sleep with the guy again. It was the same noise I made when she said she’d let him kill her. It’s a mixture of frustration, jealousy and pain, an odd sort of whining growl. Maybe. I find it hard to look at her. I find it hard to breath. The waitress comes back with the new bottle of wine. I pull a roll of bills out of my pocket, pull a few loose and place them into the woman’s hand before taking the bottle from off the table. I’m not having this conversation here. She’s supposed to be my focal point. She’s supposed to make me calm. Instead, she’s shattering my world and making me want to hit something, or someone. I grab Adelita by the wrist, a little harder than I should do, but I don’t care and I doubt she does either as she’s stronger than me. “We’re going.” I tell her. My voice eerily calm even for me and brooking no argument. “Now.”
Adelita:
"Let go of me." Adelita wrenched her arm free from him, glaring, but heading to the door anyways. She didn't mind things a little rough, but in the right setting and at the right time. This was not one of these times. "Don't do that again." She snapped at him once they were outside the club. "What is your problem, Elighan?" Adelita asked as they moved away from the club, down a street of apartment buildings where very few, if any people were on, given the time of night. "I didn't do anything wrong." She reminded him before stopping in the road and crossing her arms over her chest as her feet find the ground, firmly.
Elighan:
I begin to laugh as we get outside and she admonishes me. I’m not the one in the wrong here. I can’t win with this woman. If I’m nice to her she’s suspicious of me. If I’m demanding she putty in my hands. But now apparently I’m too much? Yes. I shouldn’t manhandle her in public. And certainly not in any way she wouldn’t enjoy in private but honestly, what does she expect. She just told me that she slept with some other guy AND let him kill her. She’s a vampire for heaven’s sake. Why didn’t she stop him? She can make me do anything she damn well pleases, including making me lose my mind, and yet she followed this man blindly and gave herself to him in every way possible (if what she’s saying is to be believed). I throw the wine bottle at the nearest wall, not even caring if anyone is around. The sound it makes is oddly satisfying. “Don’t do what Adelita? Hmm?” I ask. I’m not raising my voice; it’s deadly calm, if not dripping with disdain. “I’m having a little trouble coping with what I’m supposed to say and do right now. You knew your actions would hurt me. You lied to me too. Or mislead me.” I rub at my temples now that my hands are both free, and then I kick the nearest objet in range which unsurprisingly happens to be a brick wall. Then I turn to look at her. My eyes feel cold but somewhere deep inside I know they show my anger, pain and frustration.
Adelita:
"I didn't plan on screwing him, Elighan. I didn't plan on screwing anyone that night!" She screamed at him. "So what? I screwed someone before you made me make that stupid promise to you! I TOLD you you deserve someone better. Someone normal. I told you what happened that night was weird. It shouldn't hurt you because we weren't exclusively screwing at this point!" Lita moved towards the male and pushed him backwards. "Only you get to have weird, strange things happen to you? Newsflash! I'm a vampire!" She shoved him again, before moving past him, turning in the direction back to the nightclub.
Elighan:
I listen to her having a breakdown of her own. That’s not what it is at all, really, but it makes me feel better that I’m not the only one with emotions running high right now, even if she is only annoyed at me for something that isn’t my fault. I react a little late to her words and end up clamping my hand over her mouth from behind. My back is pressed to her front as I momentarily prevent her from walking away from me. “You shouldn’t be yelling that word in the middle of a street.” I whisper that in her ear and quickly release her. If she wants to walk away I’ll follow. I have my pride but I heard what she said loud and clear. She didn’t do any of this to hurt me. “Come with me.” I grab a hold of her hand but I don’t use excessive force. I’m attempting to encourage her more than anything else. “Please.” We need to get off the streets and a few blocks down are some abandoned buildings. If we’re going to talk about stuff like this and if I’m going to lose it and start throwing stuff again, I think we need a location that is both private and expendable.
Adelita:
Why? Why did he want her to come with him? He had to be crazy. Lita wouldn't be surprised, actually. Her entire life had gone crazy since becoming a vampire, so why not add in a few crazy people too? "Why?" She asked, sounding drained. Being **** buddies with Elighan shouldn't be this hard. Why was it so hard? Lita sighed again, but went with him anyways. Once they were alone in the abandoned building, Lita turned around to face him. "Why, Elighan? Why do we have to be here? Doing this?" She looked up at him. Why did he want to make himself go crazy? Or more crazy?
