Charlie closed her eyes and inhaled the delicious scents all around her. Baked goods like cookies and cupcakes, biscuits and donuts, the sweetness of sugar in the air. There was also the richness of coffee, espresso, and hot chocolate. There was the distinct scent of steaming milk and the mixing of flavored syrups that released their potpourri when the hot coffee met it. But scent wasn't her only heightened sense - all of them were. She could taste the food on her tongue like a snake could. She could feel the warmth of the air, the tender caress of the wind as it brushed along her skin. Her hearing allowed her to hear the rhythm of the many hearts around her, that soft lull of blood rushing through veins. There was the occasional skip and double beats of hearts of men and women in love or at very least, in lust.
Charlie didn't just listen to the sound of their blood, but the conversations they had, the rise and fall of their tones, the harmony of voices mingling. And then there was the music playing inside the café, oh yes, she could hear that too, despite being played only inside and her sitting on their patio, she could hear it. Right now it was an upbeat thing, something that inspired people to him and dance. With her eyes shut, she couldn't see it, but she suspected at least one person was at least swaying as they waited in line for their order. And then the song changed, somber, sweet, also inspiring in its way. She felt it, deep inside, as if it were speaking to her, singing just for her, chipping away at the wall she built around her heart to protect it from more harm - the harm of love, protect her from cupid's arrow.
The roar of a motorcycle caught her attention, and instinctively, her eyes snapped open. Sight, something that a lot of people could take for granted but truly was the eyes to the soul. Her gaze fell on the male the sound drew her eyes too. Sight, the one sense that could bring joy or sorrow like no other. And then there was the phrase 'Love at first sight', she hadn't believed in it before. Now though...

He was pretty sure it had been two months since he was able to kiss his wife. She'd disappeared to New York for a while and came back exhausted. Then she was gone again. Of course, he couldn't be upset, Kenlie definitely had good reason to be gone after she explained to him why she was gone in the first place. He wished her all the luck in the world and pined for her every moment she was away. He was such a needy woman. The look on his face behind that beard was on a happy one and no amount of riding was going to melt away the stern expression.
There was too much going on anymore for him to even enjoy the current ride he was taking. He had to get out of the house or he was going to go insane. He'd been riding for at least three hours and the light on his gas tank lit up, usual indication the tank was becoming empty. Reentering the city, he headed toward the nearest station to the Handle Bar, which just so happened to sit across the street from a liquor store and a cafe slash bakery. He needed a new box of cigars. With Kenlie absent, his smoking habits had increased drastically. Smoke curled from his nostrils at the passionate thought of snipping a stogy and sitting back with a bottle of whiskey, and he hadn't lit anything. Last thing he needed was to get himself blown up at the fuel station. That'd be just his dirty rotten luck.
Cruising into the station, he opened the gas cap and filled the tank. There was a radio playing inside the store, some pretty crappy hip hop that seemed to be on broken repeat "You a hoe". And people wondered why he was into classic rock and metal. Even disco had better lyrics than this Manaj ********. He looked at the cashier and just deadpanned internally. The kid looked like he was twelve and probably not that far off. Had had piercing holes littering his face and his shirt was wrinkled. He was texting and doing what looked like a mild seizure to the music playing. Name tag read 'Trey' with the actual name 'Monterey' crossed out with a black ink pen. If Victor hadn't been turned immortal he probably would have killed himself because this sight was worse than Honey Booboo.
"Which pump?"
Victor looked out the rather large window to the pumps. There are only two. He was the only one in the store.
"Pump three." His tone of voice was monotone at best.
"Uh..we don't have a pump three , dude. Is that your ride?" The kid nodded toward THE ONLY VEHICLE ON THE LOT.
"No..pretty sure I saw Tupac riding that one. My ride is parked at your moms house." Victor dismissively tossed down a bill to cover the gas and his heavy boots carried him back out the store. He smiled at the bitching behind him. Victor really needed a smoke. Victor strode over to the liquor store, the music changing from "Talk dirty to me" to this really weird melodic of chimes and flutes. The bakery was next door. Goddamn hipsters. He was starting to feel like an old man.
And suddenly it was like his heart was going to explode with emotion. He missed Kenlie harder than when he was in the shadow realm on his honey moon. He loved and adored his daughters more than if they used to be the twinkle in his eyes. He even liked Jesse more than usual. Stepping out of the liquor store, cigars in hand, he walked over to the cafe to check out the bakery. Maybe the girls wouldn't mind something sweet to smell.
He didn't even make it to the baked goods. All he saw was brown eyes, glasses and his soulmate.

She had to be going insane, that was Charlie's only reasoning. The girl was not the kind of girl to fall head over heels for someone she had only laid eyes on. Now though, she couldn't tear her eyes off of him, the though of it alone brought on a strange anxiety she had never felt before. Had she been alive she was sure the though of not watching this hell on wheels would make her break out into sweat and tears.
Charlie fought herself not to freak out and run to him as he disappeared into the gas station. She glanced down when she felt her palms bleeding and willed herself to relax, but it was difficult until he stepped back into her line of sight again. It was then that she realized that just seeing him relaxed her, the sight of him was like ice water on a hot day, refreshing and bringing the same goosebumps of pleasure to her. This is nuts, she thought to herself.
When she saw him heading for the smoke shop, she closed her eyes and looked down, as if she didn't want to watch a terrible accident. Willing herself not to make a fool of herself and run like a puppy after him, keeping him in her sight. She willed herself to breathe, whispering it to herself over and over again. Her prayer to god. When her eyes opened again, he had just stepped out of the store, as if her body was already attuned to him, to his presence.
He closed in, closer and closer. And the closer he got the more she felt as if her heart should be racing and that her own pulse would be hammering in her throat like so many mortals did when they were in love. Was this love? True, honest to goodness, soul binding, love at first sight? The rest of the world vanished, it was him, him and her. But she didn't feel those ties that bind until he stopped and his eyes met hers. Her mouth went dry, she stood, looking at the blonde god, shaking like a leaf with the need to throw herself into his arms, but she was trying so hard to fight her Allurist nature, fighting hard to do to him what she wanted. This wasn't her, but damn her to hell if she cared, hell, something about him screamed leader. If he had been sent to hell she knew that he would rule it and turn Satan into his *****.
Slowly, Charlie stood up, not even noticing as she tipped over her cup, the chocolate brown and foamy white liquid spreading out onto the laquored table. Her eyes never left his, she smiled shyly - she was never shy - and knew if it were possible she would be blushing. This was insanity but she loved it. "I'm Charlotte..." She said in a breathy voice. Anyone that knew her would know something was wrong, she never used her full name and she sure as hell never spoke in a tone close to that of Marilyn Monroe with that sensual, breathy tone that was ment to lure men in and make them beg to do what ever she requested.

He stood there staring at her like a bearded idiot. His palms were sweaty and he rubbed them over the front of his jeans. Wow, if he could see himself in a mirror, he would have stabbed himself on principle. All of this was wrong. So wrong. He was a married man, knew that he hadn't made a mistake in choosing Kenlie. He loved her, right? Right??...
His gaze trailed over this woman's features, the shine in her eyes and how he felt like the sun blazed in them; the curve of her lips as they lifted upward in that intoxicating shy smile; the length of her neck as it sloped into a well hidden chest. The looks she was throwing at him made his jeans tighten. Guilt washed over him as he remembered he had a wife. ****, he couldn't be doing things like this, thinking these thoughts. But he ached to hold this creature in his arms and refuse to let go. His head was pounding.
"I'm Charlotte..."
WRONG! Step away, man..its not true!
She's perfect in that anarchist nerd kind of way. Take her.
No, brotha..she's not your wife. ****..what was her name her name again?
Forget her, this one is your soul mate.
Yeah, his head was having a field day. Victor knew this wasn't going to be good, knew that there was someone at home waiting for him, knew this was going to end in disaster. But there was no amount of logic and talking his way out of this that was going to make him walk out of that cafe. Not without her.
"Victor. Um..do you need help cleaning that up?" The ****? That **** wasn't his mess. But maybe she burned herself with the coffee. He rushed over in the blink of an eye and took her hand in his, looking it over. Her skin was so soft and she smelled like a Best Buy and chocolate. He paused and looked down into those coffee colored eyes. His hand lifted against his will and he let a thumb brush over her jawline. "Are you ok? Did you get burned?"

He looked just as conflicted as she felt as he stood there. There was something in this cool rider's eyes that drew her in, a small part of her thinking herself like Igor or that freak in Dracula who ate spiders. If he told her to jump she would ask how high. Charlie took another step closer to him but stopped when he spoke his name. 'Victor' it fit him. When he asked about the spill, she didn't even look at it, she didn't even remember it, and yet she did. Her photographic memory telling her it was there, the liquid rolling off the table to make a puddle of coffee and milk at their feet.
Then he was before her, quick as a shot. Instinct, the need to protect him, had her glancing around as he took her hand. "Careful Handsome..." She whispered in a sensual tone that literally melted into a purr as his hand lifted and his touch was on her face.
What the ****? Did I just purr?! Ooooh to hell with it.
His touch sent flames of passion sparking through her, her own hands lifted to rest on his arm that was connected to that hand touching her face. She was sure that his touch had jump started her heart like it was racing in her chest. Looking up at him through her long dark lashes she smiled softly, sweet and sexy perfectly blended, wicked and pure both in one. "I'm perfect now." She said, once more purring softly and beginning to nuzzle his hand. Though she was only touching his forearm she could tell he was strong, and then there was the fact that he towered over her... It was something that turned her on like no other and she became aware that her hyena spirit had also fallen for this perfect specimen of male. She had to fight the urge to let her inner beast out and take him by the hand and lead him into the nearest alley so that they could enjoy the feel of each other.
Her eyes lowered and took in every inch of him. Wicked thoughts began to race through her mind and once again she was purring softly, "sweet sassy molassy..." She whispered before lifting her eyes back to his then letting them drop to his lips. All the while her long nails stroked along his arm as if it were another part of his body. She wanted some of that.
Freak, snap out of it!
Hell no!!
Her inner battle between herself died off in her mind as she inhaled the scent of smoke and gas and grease and alcohol. He was hers, her mean machine, her cool rider. Charlie took a step closer, her eyes once more meeting his before moving to his lips, her own parting a little so she could breathe before her tongue slid along her lower lip.
