Rolling office chair pushed back from the tiny desk in his small basement abode. The man leaned back. Interlaced his fingers across low lap. He approved of this situation. He had thumbed through the business directory most of the night, bookmarking companies with high income of skills he possessed. Than came the process of elimination. An Auto body shop was too much work. Bars or Tattoo Parlors-he was too high poised to think himself sweeping their floors, especially when he would be the one busting chops on them. He needed a way to keep eyes on the city without making it known. He also required relations which would not turn a blind eye if his daily profession was outed. He came upon a few titles with relations to the famous Broussard family. Finger tapped against his desk and the thought long and hard about this decision. He heard no hide or hair of them since his arrival to Harper Rock, but the tales of them and the take down made news all the way back to New York. Carlo doubted that Marco would appreciate one crime family pairing with another. When all of them were far from friendly. But a foot in the door. His eyes to observe what remained of them; it would be another tick on his belt. He wouldn't alert Marco, not until he got the job; not until he got something more than a rumor of their existence-afterall it was the Lionelli to claim the power to live on now.

In the wait for the woman's reply to his resume, Carlo would check up with Krepsi and continue his mission to build a larger empire if he was to succeed. He pocketed his phone, stood from his desk and made way into the night. Carlo hoped she will consider his employment without need for persuasion.

It wasn't that Suzette didn't value her employees. Quite to the contrary, she viewed them as her father had. As a valuable resource. One you that you took care of if you wished to see it continue to be productive.

The former dancer didn't put up with ******** however. One warning was enough for anyone in her opinion. If the problem continued after that, Ms. Broussard had no qualms about handing out the pink slips.

The work staff at all of Suzette's businesses that remained learned the lesson even if the former employee hadn't. Most of her staff were good workers and could be counted on but there were always a few positions that were more difficult to find reliable help for then others. And so she had made it a practice to always keep an ad running for job applicants.

Her clerical staff at Broussard Enterprises handled most of the correspondence that arrived in the mail and filed away the majority of the resumes for future openings, only alerting their boss of any individuals that appeared extra promising.

One such applicant's file was even now open on top of the brunette's desk. Suzette Broussard was her father's daughter. She knew people and she knew how to read between the lines. Most of all, she knew better than to take anything or anyone at face value. She questioned everything and everyone and went out of her way to never leave anything to chance.

The few connections she had left that she trusted to get the job done had gotten back to her with squat. It was as if this ‘Carlos Fachiano’ was just as neat and as tidy as his resume. The best hackers she had on retainer hadn’t been able to sniff out any dirt at all on the man.

“It is not possible to be so spotless.” She mused over the paperwork before deciding. She couldn’t trust such a record or the man that it belonged to but she was more than a little intrigued. She’d been back for 3 years now and hadn’t made any progress to speak of in reclaiming her family’s control over the town.

Her gut said someone untrustworthy might be of use. Carlos didn’t seem to have any criminal record she could find but something about his resume told her otherwise. He was one of ‘her’ kind. Perhaps even someone from a rival family.

“We shall be keeping a very close eye on you, Mr. Fachiano.” Suzette said to herself as she sent out an email in reply, offering a job interview to the apparently ‘clean’ applicant.
