Aviana had just come from the apartment of her so called sire. She had hoped not to run into anyone, yet it had turned into a meet and greet between Nathaniel and two others, that he apparently had just recently sired. Avi was still unsure what to make of her two siblings, and her distaste for Nathaniel had only intensified after such a meeting. The woman held close, her diary still, as she walked through the lobby area. Heading directly for the elevator, selecting the ground floor button and the doors could not have closed soon enough. Only then would the book be shoved into her overly large purse, it always carried more than she necessarily needed.
The young vampire was still a bit shaken up, appalled and hurt by the thought, with how Nathaniel had been in her apartment. Not only that, but he had gone through her things. Having found her diary that was never an item she left out in the open. The ride down didn’t last long, and she was ready to get back to her apartment. Maybe call someone about changing the locks and putting on extras. She could get a security camera? Or complain to the landlord about how easily it had been for a stranger to break into her place. Avi figured that wouldn’t do her any good anyways. The landlord would certainly claim such a thing to not be his problem, and simply advise she get renters insurance.
The moment the elevator doors opened, Avi froze. Face to face with the undead she had heard Eclipse speak of. Zombies? She didn’t want to believe it, and it was only another thing that she didn’t have the nerve to face at the moment. Wondering how she had missed sight of them on her way in earlier. Reaching she pushed a button on the elevator, pulling the gun from her purse and the bag fell to the floor. Shooting it at the zombie, just before the doors would close. A piece of the disgusting monster had fell off in the elevator, it looked like an ear. Avi had her back pressed against the wall and would slide down to sit upon the ground.
The very moment the doors opened again, Avi would grab her purse, shove the gun back inside and dart out. Her gaze lingered around, as she walked quickly out into the lobby, of what was the top floor. She didn’t want to go back down stairs right now, and definitely wasn’t heading back to Nathaniel’s apartment. Finding a set of stairs Avi would make her way up to where she could get to the roof of the building. She probably wasn’t supposed to, but went out anyways. The night air was nice, and she would walk all the way to the edge, standing near the barrier. Much of the city could be seen as she leaned against the edge.
A lighter and her diary would be taken from her purse, before the purse was set on the ground beside where she stood. Flipping through the books pages, a sigh would escape her, and she knew life was different now. Her former existence held little baring on what the future held. She could make a new start, or give up completely, and both were still a viable option. One thing was certain, it was time to let go of what life had been like before she had been turned. What she would do, would only be a symbol of such, to truly deal within thought would surly take time if she was willing to hold on for long enough.
Flipping to the first page, it would be torn out, and set on fire with the lighter. She held the paper for as long as she could, watching as the flames dissolved the words. Only just before it reached her fingers, she would let it go and watch as what was left of the paper extinguished and vanish within the night. Avi planned on doing this to every entry in the book, that had been written before she had been turned. Most of the pages would be torn and burned mindlessly, some she would linger and read. They were her personal confessions of her life, poems that she herself had written and some just quotes of famous poems that at the time, felt relatable.
There were quite a few pages to be burned, but half way through, a page would be torn and she would fold it up and shove it into her pocket. She knew she should have been rid of it, but that one was hard to let go of. Moving on the next page would be torn out, and she would lift the flame to light it. Avi allowed that one to burn a little too long, and it would burn the tips of her fingers. “Ouch….” Muttered as she shook her hand and the last bit of the burning page would drift off. Instinctively she would press her fingers that stung from the flames to her lips.
Her bright, sad eyes would linger out over the city. Knowing that the sun would be out in a few short hours. Such a small flam stung her fingers…. Could she handle being burned away by the sun? Would it kill her or just cause a miserable pain that would only take a painful while to heal from? Avi didn’t know if she had it in her to go through such a thing but part of her was really considering it. What did she have now? Nothing… Her only human family member was gone, the love of her life and friends had betrayed her and now she was thrown into a life path she didn’t understand.
