Woah, Dude! {Opal}

Nelle kicked a small pebble sized rock across the tall grass of the wilderness that was the outskirts of the city. The way the breeze caught the grass and made it sway reminded Nelle of when she had visited Chicago, the windy city. She looked out into the wilderness and drew in a deep breath, shaking her head slowly before she started to stroll along the to the shorter grass just outside of a small complex of houses to the west of Honeymead. The sun was high in the sky, though it wasnt giving of much warmth for the time of day because of the time of the year. Reaching and pulling down her sleeves, she rubbed her upper arms before she turned and headed more towards the populated areas. She pulled her phone from her pocket, trolling through the texts before typing in a new one and sending it off to Opal.

Want to go for a walk?

Tucking her phone back into her pocket shortly after sending the text, Nelle slid her hands into the singular pocket across her stomach on her hoodie as the strings to the dark blue article swayed while she strolled along. Her cheeks felt reddened by the cool air against them, and she wondered just how cold it was actually going to get tonight.

Opal found herself poking at her teeth, she had spoken to a Blood Thief not so long ago, he had actually told her that she could feed from vampires, monsters of the night she had already found out about – she had to pass identities of the fangers to him before he could even teach her how to be Blood Thief. When she had handed him a list, a cheque and photographs he had pulled out his chisel and had began to file down her canine’s to resemble fangs.

‘This will help you steal the blood.’

He had told her and she felt different, she didn’t like it – she was a little stronger so once she had left the man she found herself a weak vampire, it wasn’t hard to pick one out – she gagged the beast, and went for the wrist taking a mouthful, and she had felt it – the surge of power. Opal had felt ALIVE!

She had left the vampire, in the alleyway. She hoped the woman would rouse sometime later and not find Opal. If she did, well Opal had a blade she could protect herself. It wasn’t hard. Her phone buzzed sometime after that a text from Nelle asking to go for a walk – well she had a lot to tell her best friend, gosh, what would she say?

  • Yeah, sure – where do you want to meet? X

She fired off the text and waited, arching her back against a wall already a few blocks from the vampire she had stolen blood from. She cracked her knuckles in impatience, she had power and strength she needed to flex it out.

She crossed the street and headed towards the station, shuffling through the crowd of people that made her feel like she was moving against the natural flow of things. She had felt that way ever since yet another creepy hooded dude had 'unlocked' more of her potential. It was like in the grand scheme of things Nelle had finally been able to take a step back, finally able to see the greater picture for what it all was. Sure, it was in the form of spiders, bulls, chess and roses, though as odd and weird as her visions seemed she still felt a greater purpose in having them.

Her phone went off in her pocket and she pulled it out, the freshly upgraded piece of tech felt light in her hand as she slid her thumb across the screen and read the quick response. She nodded, good. It had been awhile since she had seen Opal and she was wondering just how the woman was doing. Maybe she was having visions too even.

Lets meet at West Towers and go from there?

She sent the text off and re-pocketed her phone along with her hands. She couldn't help but to feel a false sense of security with the sun being too bright and not giving off that much warmth, the way a locked door makes you feel safe when you know there is an open window. She knew evil lurked in the night - but she also knew with anything in this world there were always exceptions.

The sun was high in the sky, it wasn’t dark – the vampires hadn’t come out to play just yet, Opal was just picking off the obvious day walkers, how they could walk in the sun she wasn’t sure – but she craved their powers. Their blood. It was an odd sensation, she felt like a vampire herself. She needed to talk to Nelle, perhaps she knew what was going with Opal. These cravings for powers, they had to be subdued by something she couldn’t even control herself at times.
  • I’ll be there in a jiffy, lass.

She fired the text off to Nelle, as the woman had just before sent her a text asking to meet at West Towers, it wasn’t that far of a walk – easy really. She pocketed her hands, kept her head down the shine from the sun reflected against Opal’s blonde hair. As she walked at a quickened pace until she had found the location she was after, it was there she found Nelle waiting for her. She grasped the woman’s shoulders.

“I’m broken.”

She gasped. “I met a man, and he broke me.” She could understand how that could be taken the wrong way. “I crave blood.” She said. “Not crave, but. I like the power it gives.” Opal’s grip tightened on her friend. “Do you understand?”
