--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
The following conversation took place at the Riverview Cafe after, by coincidence, both Emeritus and Temperance had stopped to grab a cup of coffee (or tea) before venturing about on their respective nightly activities.
Temperance: Emeritus!

Emeritus: Tempy!! been too long mon amie!

Temperance: mmmhm indeed *squishes tight*

Temperance: My apologies, I've been preoccupied.

Emeritus: ah, no worries. we all get caught up from time to time, how have you been?

Temperance: *grins* I am well, dear. And yourself?

Emeritus: mmm, mostly good..a little on the sad side but nothing overwhelming. learned some new rituals, got some more powers, and been trying to do my part in this whole election rubbish.

Temperance: mhm, stretching your mind as well as I have been, I too would like to know more about the politicians, after all we live in this city.

Temperance: How come sad?

Emeritus: have you settled on any particular candidate yet? I'm still slightly mixed but trying to make sure Spencer doesn't take the prize. ah, Eve and I have ended the relationship, still friends and all but slightly mourning that particular loss.

Temperance: *shrugs* I have not really. I was not so keen on Ms. Gilbert who wanted a curfew, yet she recanted that statement, makes me wonder if she is just in this to win. Though I like politics, I want the person to mean something.

Temperance: *frowns some and pats his shoulder* I'm so very sorry for the breakup dear. It is nice that you are still friends though. Something to be said in that.

Emeritus: *grinned and inclined his head* well, would be bad for us to have soured the friendship, after all, she and I do serve together. I'm actually quite keen on the political game, just wish a bit more information would come to light, that curfew business was a bad move and obviously she was wise to retract that *laughed quietly* could you imagine how well that would work had she actually tried to enforce it?

Temperance: ooh, I can.. I had nightmares about searching for dinner and no one was about the night streets. *shakes head* though, with as often as these humans are getting touchy, I fear I may just resort to purchasing blood at the shops from now on. A curfew would also make things much tougher for vampires to just willingly sire other humans recklessly though. *thinks* That in itself is not such a bad idea.

Emeritus: hmm, I had actually not considered the siring perspective. Can't say I'm an avid fan of how carelessly some of our kind choose to turn others. I more often than not buy the blood packets or summon Bjorn if I'm in need of fresh blood. I think there would be potential for near rioting if the curfew had come to pass *smirks* would not put that past a few of us.

Temperance: *grins with his smirk* oh of course, many of us have powers to play and even with day walker, it is less harmful, though still have to be careful too. I've 3 of my own, however two are much much too distant for me to even tell if they are still here. It is sad, however, I'm not one to sire to have comfort of my own childer. There are far too many others around for me to assist. *shrugs* if that does not sound terrible.

Emeritus: *shook his head* not at all. quite clever of you actually, being fully aware of all your other responsibilities to seek comfort in childer. I myself have absolutely refused to turn another until I have both the knowledge and time to devote to a youngster. while I'm thinking of this, sometime in the near future I should really try to schedule some one on one time with you for a bit of hacking training. with how I'm coming along on rituals I feel comfortable enough with branching out my skill set a bit.

Temperance: mhm, in agreement, you are wise as well to think in such ways. *smiles brightly* oh do tell!! I'd love to spend some time with you. I've nearly perfected in all that it is I should know, had a few bumps recently, but all mistakes are opportunities to learn. So.. how do you like rituals? Tell me more about them.

Emeritus: *laughed* the rituals are great, though I am far from, ah, an expert I suppose would be the appropriate word I am definitely in a position to loan advice and tutor ones with less experience. these days you can pretty much count on me being near an altar. the one problem I do have now is finding more of the "exotic" ingredients. I've opted to try learning a bit of the hacking more out of need for money than anything else, between fuel for my car, ammo, and ingredients I can never seem to come ahead financially. you much of a ritualist? my memory is elusive on us having this conversation before.

Temperance: *listened intently* oh me? no. I've not even tried, I'm nervous and ... get a bit frightened by some ungodly things *giggles* suppose that is weird coming from the mouth of a vampire. Are there any ingredients in particular? I may come across them in my travels. I'd be happy to help you collect some.

Emeritus: *nods slowly* it's always slightly uncomfortable trying to work with a caged demi-fae, they are *he paused* disturbing creatures to say the least. the ones that are hardest for me to obtain are industrial & poisonous chemicals, monkey hands, albino crow eyes/feet, fadeling corpses, milfoil, chicken feet *laughed* things that are either insanely hard to find or ridiculously expensive. oh, and unholy relics/sorcerer blood, those are always high demand items. though if you are ever in need of any rituals I would be more than happy to perform them for you. especially if you partake in team raids, always good to have a ritualist tag along.

Temperance: That does sound kinda creepy. I do get a bit woozy on the creepy side, even when wandering the catacombs or sewers too long. I'd be happy to help you along and can contact you with any of those I come across. *grins* I'll remember you for any rituals as well, practice makes perfect, yes?

Emeritus: *smirked* aye, takes a bit of getting used to. some of the things that lurk in the catacombs are definitely on the, as you put it, creepy side. zombie wolves, mooncalfs, not fans of those creatures. pray tell, when you go hunting, what are your favored targets?

Temperance: as I did with hacking, but once you are used to it, it becomes second nature. and oh how I love the rush. *thinks for a moment* Now, that is a good question, one I suppose I've not thought about in some time. Zombie wolves I stand no chance, I found one once and ran!. Though lately, my targets have lurked in the tunnels beneath the city. Though, *scoffs* I always need a fresh change of clothes afterwords. When I did visit the catacombs often, it was the ancient zombies and mooncalfs I hunted.

Emeritus: I'm not a fan of dealing with mooncalfs, occasionally they still get the best of me. when the zombie wolves surface I am always eager to collect parts from them *grinned* the places I have gone to collect ingredients is disturbing *shook his head slightly* would never imagine doing these things just over a year ago *he laughed* you know, it wasn't long ago that vampires were a myth to me and now I deal with hideous monsters so I may collect and use bits and pieces of them for magic. I wonder how many humans would accept this gift if they knew exactly what they were getting in to.

Temperance: *nodded slowly in complete understanding* I too... Vampires were child’s tales, movies, stories. Not us. never. *she looked more serious* Being the shy, simple minded person I once was, had I known about them, I'd probably never come here. It had taken me some time to adjust, but I was also vulnerable and in mourning when I was turned... nearly four years ago now. wow. *blinks and thinks a bit* I bet not many humans would understand and those that do, for personal gain. or at least the majority with our abilities.

Emeritus: *raised an eyebrow* been four years for you? I just reached a year, mmmm, 4 days ago now. I was actually searching for proof they were real when I was turned, a bit of a cruel joke on Vel's part. she enticed me here after I had paid her nearly two million dollars, she claimed she could provide a living vampire *smirked* suppose I can't exactly call her a liar, no? if I may ask, what were you in mourning over? and it's hard picturing you being a shy type after witnessing that beautiful performance at the Met *grinned* you owned that stage and the entire crowd sat happily in your palm.

Temperance: *giggles* mhm, Vel is a smart one and yes, proof of a living vampire now lies in your very veins. *saddens a bit* I suppose shy is probably not the correct word, in my town, where I was from, I volunteered at my uncle's church and sang in the choir. I helped lots of others in the town. I had left when my mother passed from a sickness. I needed to find suitable work and this was the closest biggest town. *her cheeks round to smile with his compliment* I must confess I do like the spotlight. It transforms me, the warm rays shinning down. More importantly I love to sing, and instill a calm or happiness or mood in others. I had come here to inquire about a position to sing in the local casino originally.

Emeritus: I was honestly quite blown away, not many in this day and age, be they human or vampire, appreciate the more classic styles of music. I whistled loud enough Crissy hit me in the chest telling me to not be so loud *grinned and laughed* I look forward to another show. *his voice becoming a bit more serious* and I'm sorry to hear of your loss, I'm yet to experience that myself...my mother passed during birth so I never knew her but my father is still alive and as far as I know doing quite well. if I knew it would go well, I'd like to fly back and see him but I've been advised it's best for us not to contact our human relatives. *lit a cigarette* aside from your work at the society, what do you do? you strike me more as a business owner than employee.

Temperance: well.. I'm flattered. Thank you. *grins* I too have noticed that many here do not find the same sentiment. I'm sure to have another performance, perhaps sometime you are willing to let the night run away I'd sing a tune. The beat itself calms me. It helps me focus. Is it the same for you? *nods* that is still sad to not have a mother. *thinks a bit* aside from work....and hacking.. I really do co-own The Metronome with Crissy, as she co-owns the society with myself.

Temperance: Now... I bet with much practice, we Allurists can be like humans. closely. though must maintain your fluids. You may be able to see your father again.

Emeritus: *he thought for a moment* music, especially that classic jazz style, it takes me to another place..almost outside of myself. I don't know if I could accurately describe how awesome it felt in the club, martini in one hand, cigarette in the other, and watching that elaborate performance *he couldn't help but crack a smile* a night I would repeat a million times and be as equally entertained. I should've remembered that you co-owned the Met. you and Crissy really are insanely close aren't you? she helped teach me a lot when it comes to how we differ from the others. I did not know about all the eating and drinking and passing among humans given that my family seems mostly composed of shadows, necromancers, and killers *grins playfully* she was able to show me we stand out.

Temperance: oh dear, I fear you have the same dreadful disease as I. Passion in the beats. *she giggled in response and concluded in a coy smile* Now do you dance? Crissy and I started quickly as friends, mentors, sire and childe and even in the reverse at times. She compliments The Met in ways that I cannot with her flare and me as well. I can too see and am quite proud that you are growing into your chosen path. So many allurists do tend to lean opposite end, into dread and anger. *smiles* though if you can live it up.. it can be quite a lavish lifestyle.

Emeritus: *laughed and nodded* the brooding Allurist confuses me, after all, if we are not the prime specimens of the vampiric world then what are we? and yes, I do dance..quite well if I may say so. growing up I was trained in ballroom dancing, I picked up a bit of swing style just because I find that whole 20's-30's era the best time all around, fashion, music, dance, the works. I do wish I had gotten to know both of you sooner, I spent my first few months away from everyone, I was outraged over what I had become. But you and Crissy are both helpful for those on our path, showing that it's ok to embrace "life", that we don't all have to play up that dark and mysterious role relegated to so many of the others.

Temperance: *smiles* well, then. I'll have to remember those dancing feet of yours and maybe one night be delighted by your company. All in good time. *nods* perhaps it is perfect timing we met, rather than before. Often times, I like to understand both sides of something. to some degree we all have to learn and cope and with some challenge, this life brings and for you, the darkness and outrage may have been exactly what you needed to fall into a more controlling manner. I appreciate your candid as you've stated exactly what our goal was always to be. Alas *frowns some* As I do not wish to disengage this conversation with you, I must go for now. *leans in to place a gentle kiss to his cheek and hugs* Very glad I ran into you, you made my night dear.

Emeritus: *smiled and returned the cheek kiss* quite alright cherie, I will catch you soon. I'll ring you tomorrow perhaps.

Temperance: *nods* feel free to anytime, Emeritus. Good evening to you. *smiles and departs*
