--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Saige: Saige had always been afraid of the dark. Ever since she was a little girl, she had this fear of darkness. Not irrational, or to the point where it ever stopped her from doing things, but she did have the fear. Tonight was no different as she stuck to the street lamp lit sidewalks, not straying too close to homeless people sprawled on the sidewalk with cups and cans held out. She used to help them, used to drop coins in those cups and such, but not since her turning, for obvious reasons. She sighed then, remembering that night, remembering Juliet saving her. The sire she felt she hardly got to know, and that saddened her. She knew where Juliet was, now. The Realm of Shadows. She had day after day used her powers to spy on her sire, and day after day it hadnt changed.

Saige: Dark, dismal, depressing. She sighed. No, people didnt go there for a vacation. Not like she had thought, like Mexico. She idly wondered why she allowed herself to think that for so long, until it had bothered her so much that she finally had forced herself to come to the harsh realization that she wasnt going to see her sire again. Flats hit the sidewalk as she walked along, her hand in her purse and fishing out her phone. She typed in a text and flipped through her contacts, finding Roderic and hitting send. [T] Hey Ric? Do you think we could meet up and talk for a while?

Roderic: Find something to do with the parts, she said. Which one said it though? Was it even the real Pyper? What if it was a fake? He couldn't take the chance, so Ric went around stabbing every Pyper he saw. One vanished after giving him a nice sting after he had thrust a sword in to her heart. "Hate fakes." This was nothing new for the shadow. He had attacked Nix's fake a couple of times, and now here he was attacking Pyper's fakes. And getting a bit of backlash from attacking the fakes. They had a bit more life to them then dopple did. His phone went off, some plain tone that came with the phone that told him someone was texting him. Ric grabbed his phone from his jeans, looked at the message, then looked around. Making sure no one was around. He propped his sword up against a wall, then let his left shoulder rest against he same wall as he replied to the text. Sure. I'm in the QZ. But can meet you anywhere. What's good for you, Saige? He hit send, grabbed the sword, put it in the carrier behind his back and waited for her reply, as his eyes scanned the area for more pretend Pypers.

Saige: She crossed the street, finally coming up on the brightly lit cafe that seemed to be open for twenty four hours a day. Saige was thankful for it, for the fact that it was a beacon of light finally in the dark night that she had been walking through. She usually didnt walk around in the night. Usually she just teleported, but today she had teleported to a couple of other places first and found that she couldnt use any of her powers that required a large amount of majycs, as she called it. The juice that the powers took from her, she could feel that she had reached her limit of the expended amount today. So here she was, walking through Harper Rock. Her phone rang back. And we are, we are, we are, we are, we are the crazy kids, them crazy, them crazy kids... She giggled lightly at her phone as she slid into the cafe behind a taller more burlesque woman who sulked off to the back of the establishment and around a corner. She frowned. She didnt want to go to the QZ if she didnt have to. [T] Im in the cafe over looking the river, just east of westwall. Does that work for you?

Roderic: There was movement to the left of him, so his head turned in that direction. When he saw it was a zombie and not a Pyper, he moved on, making sure the area was cleared. Nothing but people he didn't know, zombies and other ugly things he's taken bones from. His phone went off again, that same tone and he looked at the message. A cafe. A public place. He didn't particularly like going in to public places that might be crowded, but for Saige, he'd do it. Juliet did tell him to keep an eye on her. Sure. Meet you there in ten. He replied before heading to his apartment, grabbed a new shirt, yanked the old one off and replaced it with a gray tank. He opted for the jean to stay, they were dirty, but black. Black hid things better than a white tank. He left, giving Simone a nod of acknowledgement as he spotted her on his couch, then headed back down to the main floor, to the river, crossed it and headed west to the cafe. Ric stayed outside for three minutes, mostly to watch the interactions of people inside, then walked in, looking for Saige.

Saige: She shuffled to find a seat, pulling the purse from her shoulder that Simone had made for her and setting it to the bench beside her before sliding in to take a seat next to it. She plucked her lap top from her bag, and opened it, settling it square on the table in front of her as it booted itself up. The jet black background was suddenly filled with a barrage of images from her life; one of her and nix, another of her and Velia. Plenty of Care-Bear, and a few of Saki and Zahara. She mentally made a note to get a picture with Ric while they were together for her montage on her computer everytime she booted it up. She clicked through her emails rather slowly, reading each one carefully as she then set her fingers to the keyboard and quickly and efficiently typed replies. Words like 'election', 'candidate', 'convention' and 'front-runner' were typed, forming documents to be sent out to those who were emailing her regarding the upcoming election. She immersed in this for a moment, until she heard the door open and she looked up to see Mr. Ric. "Mr. Ric!" She waved him over, glancing back to the computer to click save and shut it delicately.

Roderic: He heads to the voice, not even seeing who it was, as Ric looks to see if he notices anyone else. No one he had ever come across called him Mr. Ric. That was something Saige did, even though he was always telling her his name was just Ric. It wouldn't ever change, so Ric learned to accept it, like most things with the women in Altaire. All of them were set in their way. "Hey Saige." He notices her closing the computer, safeguarding her secrets. He wouldn't ask what she was doing, everyone was entitled to their secrets, unless he really wanted to find them out. But Saige could keep her secrets; he doubted she was up to anything. Anything that would hinder him any. "Been a while." He sits across from her as he says that, then sits back in the chair. "You alright? How's Rice?"

Saige: Saige almost got up to hug him, but he was too quick to take a seat and she simply just smiled at him as she clasped her hands together overtop of her computer. "It has been a while, hasnt it?" Her memories flashed back to him stabbing the human in the throat of the male from the apartment beside the altaire's community home. She frowned, but only for a second before she remembered how that night had slowly progressed and how much she had actually learned of her altaire uncle. And slowly, she grinned. "I am! Of course I am. I'm not one for trouble, you know." She giggled and shook her head a little, "He is alright, Im positive he is going to live forever just like me." She winked, joking of course. She then bit on her lower lip, glancing down at her hands as she clasped them together a bit tighter. "Im never going to see Juliet again, am I?" The question came out soft and almost unheard as she spoke it down at the table rather than up at Roderic.

Roderic: Roderic nodded his head. Saige in any kind of trouble seemed unlikely, but one never knew. "Good." He said, glad to hear things were alright for the unusually peppy vampire. Although, Nic came across as peppy too, so maybe it was just him. Either way, he didn't care to spend a lot of time thinking on it. At the mention of Jules, Ric stared at her, more so in her eyes. "Probably not."

Saige: She sighed, shaking her head as her long blonde hair brushed against her shoulders. "And all this time I thought she was on vacation." She frowned, clearly it made her sad to think about, but at the same time she was glad that she was starting to understand the full picture. It seemed like she was always trying to just cover up the truth with happy thoughts, when she could just accept the truth and find happiness in it itself. "Just wish I had gotten to say goodbye." She couldnt help it, it was the truth, and she couldnt help when it slipped from her lips.

Roderic: He nodded his head. "Thought she made it to Mexico. She said she was going there. For family. But I guess she didn't make it." He said, looking away from her. How would he feel if Nix was dead and probably wasn't coming back? He already knew. He would go in after her. Again. "You haven't heard from her at all? Even in your head? I forget what she was." He frowned, not sure she actually told him. Was she a shadow like him? Nix sired a lot of them from what he remembered. From what he heard.

Saige: Saige shook her head. "The last I heard from her, was an email. She had sent it to me saying sorry and to look after Rice. Though she could do the whole mind thing... I havent heard from her that way since a month prior to her going missing." She admitted, shaking her head once more. She missed her so much, it made her heart hurt. How was that possible, she wondered, if it was no longer beating? Had to be how emotions worked, no matter dead or alive. "I really miss her." She mumbled, unclasping her hands to put one over her heart and press against it, trying to will it to stop hurting. It didnt. "Though I still have Rice... thank goodness."

Roderic: He looked around, then leaned forward, the pitch in his voice lowering. "I've seen her. Recently. Sort of." He admitted. "I was in the sewers and this woman was screaming at me. Thought it was a shadow at first, but she stayed around for a while and never popped out of shadows. She claimed she was Jules. Not seen her in about three months though. Or heard her."

Saige: "What?" She asked, her eyes got wide a little as she tried to understand exactly what he had said. He saw her? Or rather... he heard from her? And what, he didnt think to mention it to her? But then she stopped for a second, blinking at Roderic. Had he not said anything for the sake of her mindset? She had been in denial, the whole time, thinking that Juliet was off having a good time, spending it in Mexico and loving every second of it. How naive of her to think such a thing - when the woman hadnt even tried to get a hold of her. No, Juliet was gone. "It probably wasnt her."

Roderic: "That's what I thought too. But she told me it was her." He said. "It sounds crazy, but it's true. I didn't see her, but it was her voice." He nodded his head. "Can't think of who else it would be. Not a lot of people talk to me and vice versa."

Saige: She pursed her lips to the side, giving a slight frown. She shook her head then. It couldnt have been. She narrowed her eyes on Ric then, only for a moment, thinking that it had to of been his imagination. She knew his imagination was vivid, so she didnt put it past him. "Well. If it was her, it would be nice if she'd say something to me. Like I said, I didnt even get to say goodbye." She shrugged gently, reaching up to brush her hair back behind her shoulder on one side.

Roderic: He saw the facial expression she made and he sat back in the chair, thinking maybe he should have kept his mouth shut. "Yeah. You're probably right. It doesn't really make sense. How she would say something to me and not you. Or anyone. Probably someone being stupid." He did his best to try and reassure Saige it wasn't Jules, and maybe, deep down when he thought about it, she was right. It probably wasn't her. Not if someone else hadn't seen or heard from her.

Saige: Saige suddenly felt very guilty for assuming such things. She frowned, yet again. She wouldnt have put it past her sire to say something to Ric, and not her. Maybe she didnt have the strength to say something to Saige as well. Maybe Juliet was only able to reach out to one person at that time... maybe there was hope still. Saige found that little spark and held it close inside. "No, I mean..." She bit her lip, thinking, then let it go. "I just miss her, Ric. Im sorry, I didnt mean to call you a liar." She shook her head and stared down at her laptop.

She shook her head and stared down at her laptop.

Roderic: He watched her, then nodded his head. "She was the first one I liked out of the Altaires. She was real nice to me. Someone like that, easy to see why people would miss her." Roderic wouldn't actually admit he missed Jules too, this was probably as close to it as he would get. "You're probably right. Might just have been wishful thinking. And hoping. That she made it to Mexico, took care of things and came back and was just laying low for a while. Shouldn't have said anything. I'm sorry Saige."

Saige: Saige nodded slowly. He was so right. Juliet was always charismatic and always had this way about her when around others. She had employed most of the family, shown them that she cared in giving them all a job and a means to earn. Juliet was soft spoken and had one of the largest hearts of all the Altaire... and since she had left Saige had felt that she had filled her sires shoes for the most part. She had without meaning to, become the woman who had saved her life the fatefull night. She gave Ric a little smile and offered offered a hand to him laid open with its palm upwards for him to take. "It'll be alright, I think. We'll get through it, and Juliet will have made us stronger for it."

Roderic: Ric looked at the hand, not sure what he was supposed to do with it, so nodded his head in agreement. He reached in his coat pocket and pulled out his pack of cigarettes. Then, he put one in her hand, because it was clear she wanted something in her hand and that was the only thing he had on him. "Need a light?" He offered, pulling out a bone colored and shaped lighter. He set it on the table with a small smile.

Saige: Saige frowned. He put a cancer stick in her hand (at least to humans they were) and her grey blue eyes stared down at it. Well that wasnt what she had wanted, and she wasnt about to smoke. "What.... no thank you." She gave a slight giggle, of course he wouldnt take her hand, who was she kidding. This man who was so sly and often dodged her hugs, no, he wouldnt have realized that she wanted to physically console him as well. And clearly he didnt need it either, as the subject seemed to be concluded with her statement. She flipped her hand and set the smoke to the table, settling them back on her computer for a moment. Now she was curious as to something else entirely. "Hey, Ric. Im curious what you think of the upcoming election?"

Roderic: "Why?" Was his first reaction as his eyes narrowed. But as Ric stared at her through his beady, narrowed eyes, he remembered who it was he was talking to. "Haven't given it any thought. Not really all that concerned. I don't really follow rules. Or laws." He looked down at the cigarette she put down, then let his eyes drift around. "Who's even running?"

Saige: Saige giggled. She wasnt sure what she had expected, him to know or not to, but she wasnt surprised. "Theres three major candidates right now, though one is really far ahead in the polls." She shrugged then, drumming her fingers on one hand on the top of her laptop as she rested her others elbow to the table next to it and settled her chin in the palm of her hand with a soft smile. "Its good to see you again." She admitted, then grinned. "You'll be at my wedding then, right?" She jumped topics again, moreso trying to cover all the bases while she had him there with her.

Roderic: "Good to see you too, Saige." He wondered why she said it like that. Like they might not see each other for a while. "Yeah." He still thought she was making a mistake, because he saw how things went for Nix (not that he had a high opinion of marriage to begin with), and was sure in time, Saige would end up like Nix. People were fickle things. Even as vampires. "You set a date yet?" He got out his phone so that he could put it in the calender app.

Saige: She blinked, then giggled and shook her head while it was still rested in the palm of her hand. "No date yet." She glanced down to her left hand where the beautiful ring was on her finger, smiling gently. "You'll be one of the first to know, promise." Her blue eyes swam back up to his, and her smile warmed them as she shifted her head to the side a little. "I bet you'll look good in a tux." She grinned then, almost unsure that he would wear one - but then again it was a wedding, who didnt wear a tux to a wedding?

Roderic: A tux. He would have cringed at the thought of it, if he knew it wouldn't have hurt her feelings. Probably would have flat out denied it to. "I wore a suit once." He commented, as if that were comparable. "What are the rules for attending such an event?" He didn't know now that he thought about it. Ric hadn't ever attended a wedding as an adult. And as a kid, maybe only a couple of them before his parents got divorced.

Saige: How could Roderic not know about weddings? Everyone knew about weddings. "It's a formal event, so you'd have to dress up and probably do something with your hair." She giggled lightly, shaking her head some more. "You wont allowed to bring your weapons either... or well. If you do just make sure its concealed I guess." She added in that last part, because she figured Ric didnt go anywhere without his weapons. Which was okay considering he had plenty of enemies. "And you'll just have to act... proper." She pursed her lips to the side, wondering if he understood what she was on about.

Roderic: "What do you mean do something with my hair? What's wrong with it?" He ran a hand through his long, somewhat greasy hair, then gave a shrug. "Not cutting it." He let it be known right off the bat that there was no way he'd cut it. No matter who requested it. Not even Nix herself. "Act nice you mean. Talk to people." He didn't like talking to people he didn't know. He didn't like talking a lot, actually. Only with a few. Nix. Pyper, Kat and even Saige got more out of him than most. "I can come alone, right? Or is it one of those date things?" He almost cringed at the idea of trying to find a date if he had to.

Saige: She shook her head. "No you dont have to cut it. Just... slick it back. Or something." She didnt want to insinuate that he was dirty, otherwise she would have told him to wash it too. He always looked scruff, and she wanted him to clean up for the event. She smiled then, tipping her head to the side a little while it was still perched in her hand. "Right. Its a scial event, aside from the cerimony itself. And Nix will be doing a ritual too, at the same time. Feeding two fish with the same pellet." She grinned wider, "And of course you can attend alone. Though I'm sure a guy like you could find a date easily."

Roderic: "I can do that." Ric said with a nod when she talked about him slicking his hair. "Did it once or twice before. Recently. Looked alright. I guess." He'd do it, only to please her. Altaire women gave him a headache sometimes when they got set in their ways. It was just hair. After the ceremony, it could go back the way it was meant to. His eyes moved around the room. "What does that mean? A guy like me?" His tone sounded inquisitive, not really defensive because he wasn't sure what she meant. A tall guy? A vampire? A serial killer? It was endless on the possibilities.

Saige: She smiled warmly then. "You can be charismatic, is all. And deep down, you're a good guy." She gave a slight shrug, reaching to her purse and pulling out a small tube. Uncapping it, she ran the lip gloss covered applicator across her bottom lip. Rubbing her lips together, she smiled once more at Ric before capping it and putting it back into her purse. She glanced over at the clock, taking a second to read it before she started to collect her things. "I really should get going, I have a political meeting to attend." She slid her computer back into her bag, zipping it shut and settling her purse on her lap. "I'll see you around, alright? Its great to see you, Mr. Ric." And the truth in her words couldnt have been more apparent.

Roderic: A good guy? Obviously Saige didn't hang out with him enough when he wasn't sitting around just chatting. And he certainly wasn't charismatic. Least he didn't think so. He'd ask Nix to see. "It's only because I've got a soft spot for you. You see the best in me. I guess." It seemed the only logical reason in his mind. He was nicer to her than most people, because he promised Jules he would look in after her. "Take care of yourself Saige. Don't be a stranger." He said, standing up as she packed her stuff up. He put a cigarette between his lips and gave her a wink with his left eye before heading out.
