Just another night (Simone)

Malaise had settled up on Dayshawn with a vengeance. A feeling of unease, unrest and general discomfort. This feeling had not happened since before he was turned. And when it happened then, it was when he was on a job that he felt was going to go wrong. And it usually did. There was the odd time that the feeling came upon him and it turned out to be a false alarm. But he wasn’t on a job. He hadn’t been on a job for over a year. His new lifestyle, prevented that sort of thing.
Keeping to the masquerade meant leading the life of a nondescript average citizen. It was boring. Maybe like his father had said he was a thrill junkie. Maybe he was. It was clear that the allure of killing ferals and hunters had worn off. It was something he did out of habit, not because of the rush it gave him anymore. So the nights fell into a monotonous habit. Wake, kill, sleep. He needed a change. There was no way he could go on forever doing this night after night. He needed something more.
So he had been watching the Boss, Wendell. He had businesses. That was what kept Wendell from going stark raving mad. A business gave Wendell an outlet for his boredom. So maybe that was what Day needed to do. Start a business. But what kind? And what could he really do? He flipped the page of the business section of the newspaper. He scanned the different articles and sighed. He would have to do some studying up before he felt educated enough to start a business. He frowned and made a face as he flipped another page. Maybe he would give the Boss the a call, get some advice from him.
