are you a dentist? { Phoenix }

Post by Nishaa »

Nishaa had been fingering her mouth, index fingers poking and prodding at her fangs. They never seems to stay in no matter what she did. She'd push her lips over her fangs but yet they'd still poke through - she couldn't even be outside for long otherwise she'd be breaking the masquerade the very thing she protects. She didn't want to risk people asking questions, or even Paladins recognising what she truly was. A vampire.

How long was her fangs going to be like this. Every had pulled out her fangs, she had even pulled out her own fangs - it was de-moralising and embarrassing but she thought it was the right thing to do to help them grow correctly, but still nothing happened. It didn't want to work. It frustrated the Necromancer.

Nishaa wasn't the most social person. Unless you were Tytonidae, Andras of Paige. Especially Paige. Which could scale a large number of vampire so maybe Nishaa really was that social, but her onyx orbs looked out to Honeymead from the tree. Her palms resting against the balcony of the second floor, just watching the nightly beings doing their rounds.

She remembered a woman from the fight night the way she moved in the ring made her wonder if she was strong - had gained her number, though she couldn't quite understand how she had acquired it, all she remembered was getting down on one knee and asking Paige to marry her (in a public, romantic way.) She pulled up this woman's digits and fired her a text.

"Yo. Hulk. You busy?"

She sent the text to the woman and waited for a reply resting the phone against the balcony top, before looking back out to Harper Rock.

Lethargy seemed to have become a constant companion. The days ticked by in a blur, each indistinguishable from the last, but also wound together in a deeply disturbing, unending nightmare. Time was relative, and Nix wished that this period would both speed up and slow down all at once.

It was one of those identical days where the redhead lounged in bed. There was nothing to leave for, nothing to bother with, and even if there had been, she would likely have been disinterested. Not that she'd admit she was depressed; it sounded like a cop-out; it sounded like a band-aid term to justify this infectious lack of motivation. Most importantly, it sounded week.

When her phone vibrated on the bedside table, it took her a good five minutes to reach over and grab it. No good news came by text, after all. A bitter snicker left her lips at that thought. 'Good news? We don't get good news ever. The method of communication is irrelevant.' And it was true - she used to be excited to pick up that phone, but now as she poked the screen and jabbed in her password, all she felt was apathy accentuated with dread.

The sender was unexpected enough, but... "Hulk?" she repeated aloud, bemused. With a sigh, she rolled over in the darkness before typing out a reply.

"No, I'm not busy. What's up?"

It almost sounded... chipper.

The Necromancer grew impatient, impatient enough to push her phone back into her *** pocket and grab the nearest vine that belonged to the tree of doom, as she often nicknamed it – sometimes fort owl, fort owl was cool. She used the vine, so she could traipse to the nearest branch and shimmy down to the ground, where the grass crunched beneath her and as always left a trail of dead leaves – she didn’t know how she did it, all she knew was that no one else around her was able to do it – she thought it a curse that everything she touched died, but she didn’t think that was true – her faction members were alive, for now – they were vampires, some died – some came back and her fiancé was alive too. So, it was a plus.

The vampire moved across the wilderness and into the confines of Cherrydale. The people that moved past the woman didn’t even look at her, vampires ignored her – and humans just paid no attention to a woman wearing leggings and a bright pink ‘my little pony’ tee shirt. She didn’t wear it often, she didn’t like colours, but every now and again she liked to shock the homies.

Her phone buzzed then a hand fumbling in her *** pocket as she withdrew the phone, to find the reply was from Phoenix. She grinned and typed out a simply reply it wasn’t fancy but it was straight to the point.
  • I need a Dentist. Meet me at Thornside – or somewhere else, doesn’t bother me
She clicked send on the text and began to walk towards Thornside Park, it was close to the Eyrie, she hated venturing far – hated it, paranoia was an ugly trait with Nishaa now, Paranoia that someone was out to get Nishaa whenever she closed her eyes for a moment or looked the other way – she knew what vampires were capable of. She found the nearest bench on the outskirts of the park and waited for the ginger beast.

Nishaa's reply sounded like some kind of code. Something straight out of a spy movie.

'A dentist?' Her brow furrowed at the text; it was like trying to decipher the Rosetta stone without any kind of clue on how to start. Why the **** did Nishaa want a dentist in Thornside park? She could have asked, and she was sure Nishaa would have answered, but this was motivation to get out of bed. If she told Doc that she'd passed up the opportunity to make a friend (more or less), he'd be upset indeed. Upset in the straight-faced, disapproving shrink kind of way. Not that he actually gave two shits about her. No. God forbid he actually care about anyone other than herself.

With a sigh, the redhead rolled to her feet, shrugging off the thin black silk nightdress before slipping into something more appropriate for outdoors. Black jeans and a loose olive green knit over a crisp white tank top. Hopefully this wouldn't be messy... Forcing herself to interest, she replied to the text. Maybe she could get into this silly covert ops ****.

"10/4. Operation Dentist in the Park is a go. I'll be there in 10."

Of course, as she slipped through the portal, she still had no ******* clue what this was about. For all Phoenix knew, it could be and very likely was an ambush, but she didn't let that get her down. Covert ops were fun, she told herself, each step bringing her closer to the park. Her estimated time of arrival was spot on. Ten minutes after the text had been sent, Nix found herself peeking through branches until she spotted Nishaa.

A faint smile curled her lips as she approached. Once close enough, Nix tilted her head. "So... what's this really about?"

A rustle of leaves caught Nishaa’s attention – she focused her onyx orbs on the sound, until she saw a flash of ginger. She smiled, those prominent fangs of hers on show they were always on show – there was something wrong with her, she knew there was. Perhaps she was a broken vampire, it wouldn’t surprise her she didn’t have the best of luck at times, and having something wrong with her for eternity well, she wouldn’t be surprised in the least. She kicked her legs back and forth her heels hitting the wood of the bench as she kicked harder, the black boots making a thump noise.

She had received the text that Phoenix would be here in ten, and it had seemed less than that – just merely moments ago she was sending the woman her text asking her to meet her, oh how time flew when you were a vampire – they had eternity, why did a vampire even need to take note of the time, or even worry about it. Nishaa shrugged as if unsure of her own mental question. She wasn’t one to dwell it usually hurt her brain.

“Phoenix.”

Nishaa said when the ginger beast was within earshot of her voice, the tone was curious as she canted her head. The woman in front of her wasted no time in getting to the point, Nishaa admired that – the bluntness that was, because she herself could be equally blunt with no remorse of the others feelings. It made her a good solider, act first – ask questions later, though she rarely did. She pointed her gun and shot, and never blinked.

“I have a problem” Her fingers raised to tap at her fangs. “They won’t go away, I’ve ripped them out several times and yet they don’t seem to.. go back to normal.” She opened her mouth slightly and tried to show the woman how they were long, but unable to be hidden behind her lips. “Maybe your skilled hands could finally do the job, and maybe the twenty second time if the charm." Nishaa laughed slightly, but her onyx orbs were stern, her eyes serious.

"Nishaa," she replied warily to the woman's vocalization of her name. This was strange; why would Nish have insisted on a meeting in the park to remove teeth. Baffled, the redhead inched closer to inspect the fangs on display, each step crushing moist detritus underfoot and sending up that soft, earthy scent of decay.

Teeth? What was she supposed to do about teeth? Those honey brown eyes squinted curiously for a moment before she dropped down on the bench next to the woman. "So you want a... permanent solution to your fangs not retracting? You're not the only one with this problem," she stated softly. Not that it was the end of the world, maybe it would be nice to know she wasn't alone. Though Doc did hide his well, she'd seen flashes, here and there, of what lurked behind his lips. Either he didn't care to ever retract his fangs - which was uncomfortable as **** when speaking - or, more likely, he simply couldn't. And Nish had the same issue.

"Instead of pulling them out, have you thought of grinding them down?" she asked, head tipping curiously. "It might be less of a nuisance and you could keep at it - like brushing your teeth. Take a little bit off every day and maybe you can keep them in check, yeah? I think I have the right tools for that. Or I could yank them out again."

Nishaa was used to an invasion of privacy, she was no stranger to it so when Phoenix up close and personal to inspect her fangs she let her. She didn’t flinch, or move a muscle she was a statue, her onyx orbs locked onto Phoenix’s face, when Phoenix had finished her assessment Nishaa waited for the results, could this woman rip out her fangs and finally let them shrink back into their hiding place behind her peach coloured lips that were chapped.

“I’m not?”

Nishaa knew she wasn’t whatever this curse was, she had somehow passed it onto her childe – she had remembered their meet up for their usual talks of growth and she noticed the woman’s non retractable fangs, poking through her lips. She was a lot like Nishaa in so many ways and now she had acquired Nishaa’s curse. “Well, no” She paused, waving her hand. “Whatever this problem is, my childe has somehow inherited from me.” She shook her head, slightly ashamed. She had somehow let this problem seep into her childe’s veins’ infecting her – she had given the woman her cursed blood when she had chosen to sire the little beast, the little beast she was so heavily proud of and would never admit to.

She hadn’t spoken to this woman on a one on one situation, she had heard things – read things about her, but what she had seen of the woman wasn’t bad – she was a hulk, she had the ability to **** Blake up on the fight night, but she had come when Nishaa had called, and she rarely called on anyone – so that made Nishaa’s opinion of the ginger hulk soar higher. Perhaps the rumours she had heard were not true.

“Brushing my fangs, how cute.”

She found herself laughing. Her chest rattling from the laughter, she hadn’t known the shadow could crack jokes as well as bones. Score one for her. “Who is this other person that has my problem, can it be fixed?” She inquired.

Phoenix couldn't help but grin at Nishaa's reaction. "Tooth brushing with power tools? Adorable," she laughed.

Ever since she'd been turned, Phoenix had managed to keep up the solemn routine of daily teeth brushing. Flossing had fallen to the wayside, but it wasn't like she every chewed on anything, and the bits of flesh that may have worked their way between her teeth were easily brushed away. Even if the redhead was quite sure her teeth wouldn't rot no matter how long she went without caring for them, oral hygiene was important to her. Nobody wanted to kiss someone whose breath smelled of stale, putrefying blood. The thought was enough to make her shudder.

"I'm not sure he would appreciate me sharing his deep, dark secrets, but I'm quite sure you know him. Just make a point of peeking at others' teeth and you'll figure it out eventually. I don't think he cares much for a solution, though... but if you and your childe both can't retract them, maybe you guys could share a grinder."

Phoenix paused, scrunching up her nose. "Somehow, that's even weirder than sharing a toothbrush..."

With a smile on her lips, the Shadow pushed herself to her feet, inclining her head towards Station Net Cafe. There was a crafting bench there, fully equipped with everything she figured they'd need.

"You wanna try the grinder? Maybe you and your spawn can grind each oth-- that was going to sound filthy. Maybe you two can help each other with the tooth grinding. Make it a bonding experience." This, she thought, could take a turn for the perverse rather quickly. Keeping that in mind, he face remained perfectly straight as she lead the way through the park.

Adorable? What an odd thing to say.

“Yes, because it’s not every day your mouth gets drilled for no god damn ******* reason.” There was a pun in that, Nishaa had realised this as soon as the words left her mouth – there was no way to swallow them, so she rolled with the cards that were dealt she laughed at her own quirky, yet rude pun. She paused as she lifted a finger to her mouth rubbing at the pearly white fangs with her its tip, and dropped it again. Her mouth quirking from side to side. Her button shaped nose wiggled.

He. Teeth, Nishaa just had to peek at those she knew to find the person with the same condition as her – could you even call it a condition. She knew the man though the way the Ginger Hulk described it. This man was either Tytonidae, or Andras. She didn’t know the full extent of Phoenix’s link with either was. Nishaa didn’t care, but at the same time she did – Nishaa was a curious cat, and she usually got the information she needed on way or another.

Though she was brought out of her train of thought as the woman inclined her head towards the Station Net Café, a little dinky place next to Honeymead Station, it wasn’t that far of a work, across the street then across a road, no big deal. Swinging her feet back onto the grass she followed the woman nodding her head as she caught the end of the woman’s speech about grinding with her childe, it caused the woman to raise an eyebrow.

“I do enjoy to grind, every now and again.”

She grinned, clearly understanding the pun. Her thoughts of Phoenix currently were perverted. “You are quite the little pervert, Ginger Hulk.” She told the woman with a little chortle of her own. That small chest of hers rising and falling in time with her laughing.

Phoenix blinked. It wasn't everyday you had your mouth drilled? She certainly hoped not. But then again... Honey brown eyes flicked to Nishaa, her expression perfectly blank as she attempted to deduce whether the woman's double entente had been intentional. The laughter gave it away only a split second later and she grinned. "You're the pervert," she accused as she led their way across the park, then the street and to Station Net's front door.

At this hour, the only occupants usually were of the vampiric persuasion or those too enthused by their internet gaming worlds to bother looking up. A quick scan of the cafe's occupants revealed that tonight wasn't much different than any other night she'd waltzed in off the street. It wasn't a private place by any means, but privacy was subjective. Anywhere could be private so long as no one paid attention. That was the case here.

Without missing a beat, she brought her companion to the left, into the little room that doubled as a crafting area and a ritual space. What had possessed the man to place the two together was beyond her, but it worked. Somehow. Of the two benches, she selected the one furthest from the door. The one that afforded the most relative privacy, as it were.

"Alright then, Fangy Fish... " where the name came from, she had no idea, but she rolled with it. "You want the electric grinder first or did you want to test out a rasp...?" Her voice became somewhat muffled as she knelt down and foraged through the tools hidden away under the bench. First the rasp came out and was set on the work space, quickly followed by a few blocks of sandpaper of various grains, and then finally the ultimate tool that would either get the job done or tear out a few more teeth than intended: the grinder.
