--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Doc: Nichole Aguilar answered the phone, “Genesis Solutions, You rape ‘em, We scrape ‘em.” She received a dirty look from Jane Lord in IT security. “Sorry, just kidding, How can we help you today?” She listened “A plant killing solution? You mean like a spray? um.. hold please.” She put the caller on hold.
“Hey Doc.. Do we do weed killing?”
Doc sighed, “What the **** do you think?” He stopped. He looked at his watch. “What line?”
Nichole held up two fingers. She still hadn’t figured her boss out. She looked at Jane and mouthed ‘Weeds? Really?’ Jane shrugged and whispered back “I am off in 15 minutes, I am not spraying weed killer on my Friday night!”
Doc: Doc picked up the call, “Yes, this is Nilson. What kind of weed?” He listened, “Nightshade? How big an area?” he nodded as the caller explained on the other end of the phone. “And you need it by… when?” More silence. Doc nodded and made noncommittal noises now and again. “No.. no that is a regulated pesticide. You are in a residential neighborhood. Three months at least to get the paperwork sorted.. if.. IF we get it approved.” He said dryly, as though he were an expert on the matter. He listened more, the voice on the end sounded agitated. “Your wedding is in two weeks, and you are just 'now' looking into laying sod? Dude you are screwed.” The voice on the other end was noticeably louder. “Yes.. yes.. We have the solutions for all sorts of problems. We.. can do it.. it will cost you though.”
Jacqueline and shaking her head no, in a vehement fashion. Doc is nodding at her smiling. Jacqueline was mouthing “NO!” Doc scribbled a phone number, mouthing back “Call her.” She snatched the number out of his hand sullenly, muttering to herself. “I am not spraying any god damn weed killer.. I am an IT professional god damn it!” Louder “Hold for Doc Nilson Please…” She shoved the phone at him.
Doc: Doc put his other caller on hold, and answered the other call, “Dutch.. we’re supposed have a session.. you bailed. But. You can make it up to me. There is this house.. Need a show of force so to speak.. I can’t do it.. previous engagement. They will pay us five grand, to patrol his yard. And take care of any .. ne’er do wells that show up.”
Jacqueline frowned and looked at Jane, who shrugged and threw her hands up like, ‘don’t drag me into it’.
Dulce Periculum: Dulce winced at the thought it was Doc's voice on the other end of the call and he was yet again going on about missing a 'session.' He was higher than the Goodyear blimp if he really thought anything he attempted would bring out any increased sensitivity in her. She was fine. More than fine. She was cool as a cucumber in the ice box with her general disposition. It was not her fault some didn't get it. She was not going to explain it to them either. She didn't own a box of tissues and was not planning on it. She was a vampire. A killer at heart. As Doc's voice went on she nudged her right hand on her desk to gain the space to allow her tall form to rise to full height beside her desk in her office. A house? What the hell was he up to now? He couldn't do it. When did he start delegating his engagements to her for dealing with? He and she had to have a chat. this she was sure of as she leaned back to rest her backside on the corner of her desk and wait till he finished telling her what she was going to do. Patrol a yard? She was sure she didn't hear him correctly. "Excuse me?" Now her body was erect and her feet moving towards the front of the desk so she could see if Sada was visible on the security monitor at her desk in the next office. "I thought I heard you say patrol a yard."
Doc: The clock chimed 5:00 pm and the girls looked at him expectantly, Jane already had her keys in her hand and purse on her shoulder. Doc waved them out. They both needed no second bidding, the bolted for the exit.
Doc then turned his attention to Dutch, “Just need someone to hang out for a while between midnight and 2:00am. Someone I trust. The guy is getting married. And apparently the ex-boyfriend has been harassing him. So if you could patrol the yard.. you know.. walk a perimeter, maybe walk a grid pattern,.. act like you are looking for something in the yard. And then when the little prick shows up, beat the **** out of him. Five Grand. Eighty percent for you.. small twenty percent finder fee for me. What do you say?”
