There's something about Harry...

Alexandrea gave a deep moan and shook her head as soon as Harry left the room. He was Snow's Grandfather and an older man with a job so she had been giving him a lot of leeway but as a thrall? He sucked.

Sure, Alex was used to Morgan who knew without Alex having to ask what was needed and when. And Morgan had been like a kid sister to Alexandrea. No... not just a sister. Alex had a sister she couldn't stand. Morgan had been like the sister Alexandrea had never had. No one could ever replace Morgan to Alex.

She thumbed through the junk that Harry had brought her with a sigh and a roll of her eyes. "He has to be kidding me... why would I want all these packs of cigarettes? I hardly ever smoke." But Harry smoked. Large smelly cigars. At least he only lit them when he was outside.

"How hard can it be to pick up a few boxes of nuts and bolts when I ask?" And the whining. For an older man to whine so much...it was uncomfortable. The only place he didn't seem to mind being asked to go was the slums to look for parts for guns that gangsters had dropped. And Alexandrea wanted to know why.

It was time to keep a closer eye on her new thrall. Harry wasn't all that he seemed. Alex could tell he was a smart man and that he thought he could get away with things. The question was... what was Harry trying to get away with?

Snow hadn't told Alex what her grandfather did at his job, she either didn't know or didn't think it was important enough to mention. But whatever Grandpa O'Sullivan did, Alex could tell from her thrall that Harry felt he was important. Alexandrea wasn't the best hacker in Harper Rock but she knew a thing or two about checking people out online.

She opened her laptop and got to work, using every trick she had to hack into Harry's life and find out what made her new thrall tick.

She closed the laptop with a snap and sat there with a stunned look on her face. Alexandrea had just discovered the occupation of her new thrall. Harry O'Sullivan was the Police Commissioner of Harper Rock. The possibilities were endless.

Alex was overcome with her stroke of good luck and didn't know where to start. She wasn't the kind of person anymore that manipulated people or took advantage of others and she hadn't been in a long time. She was out of practice. But there was no way she planned to let this opportunity pass by, there was too much good that could come from having someone in a position like Harry's. Not just for herself but for the whole vampire community.

The thought crossed her mind that there was someone on Crownet she had been reading posts from that might have an idea or two. And Alexandrea had been meaning to get into touch with him for awhile, about setting up some more elaborate fake identities than she normally just whipped up herself for a quick heist or a trip out of town. Opening her lap top again, she went to the board called the Middle Road and looked for the post about the business that helped with such things and how to find it.

The blonde grinned when she realized it was the same Brush and Quill she passed by on numerous occasions in the 8th Dimension Mall and took her fade portal to her own shop in the exact same mall. With any luck, the owner of the business might be around and Alexandrea could pick his brain.

As luck had it, he wasn't in. Alexandrea wasn't to surprised by that, she knew he had several businesses to run. She would just find his contact information and send him a message asking for an appointment to discuss 'mutual interests'.

She'd gone home that night only to find Harry had left the back door open and her cat had gotten out. No harm was done, Penny Valentine was recovered before she had a chance to get into trouble and no innocent bystanders were injured in her capture. But it ticked Alexandrea off. Head of the cop shop or not, Alex needed her thrall to be able to get some of the things she needed done taken care of without incident.

So when her earring whispered to her of a new raid in town, she sent for Harry and insisted he go with her. All had gone well at first, he scouted for her and helped her pick up and carry some loot. But then luck had turned bad, as the human stepped into one trap after another. Before Alexandrea even realized that the older man was so badly hurt, it had become necessary for him to be rushed to the hospital.

Alex notified his wife, masquerading as a member of Harry's staff on the phone, and then went off to try and find Snow. She dreaded having to tell the little girl face to face that she had gotten the child's Grandfather hurt but it would be worse if Snow heard it from someone else.

After swearing an oath to Snow that she would make sure that Harry was safe at all times from then on, Alexandrea went by the hospital with some flowers and an apology. Harry hadn't been very keen to see her but hadn't much choice in the matter, Alexandrea used her powers to get the handsome head nurse to let her into her thrall's room.

Alexandrea took a seat next to the head of the bed and frowned at Harry O'Sullivan. "Well Harry, What am I going to do with you? As a thrall you've been pretty useless thus far. Maybe it's time we put our heads together and think of other ways you can be of use to me... alive."

She didn't really mean the implied threat, she had just given Snow a promise that Alexandrea had every intention of keeping. But the old man didn't have to know that. Alone together in the hospital room, Alex gave the Police Commissioner her most toothsome grin.

"I knew you couldn't stay away from me, Doll-face. And given my choice, I think I'd have to go with the option to stay alive thank you very much."

The Allurist frowned as she leaned closer to her Thrall's bedside. "Keep your voice down Harry. Please."

The man nodded, he was under a lot of heavy pain medication but he was a tough old cop and knew how to handle himself. He just wanted something.

"Well let me tell ya, I don't feel much like talking right now. " Harry's voice got a lot lower fast. "Do I know you could make me change my mind? Oh yeah. I know." He scowled at the vampire and after a quick look around to be sure his private room really was private, the Police Commissioner glared at Alexandrea.

Alex was at a loss, she didn't know what to say. Things had never been this difficult with Morgan. She was still speechless when Harry spoke up again, much more loudly this time.

"Hey doll face, do me a favor and pass me one of the cigars from my jacket pocket, would ya? It's hanging up right inside that there closet over there by the can."

Sometimes one doesn't need words to get a message across and the look that the Allurist gave her Thrall spoke volumes. The older man didn't bat an eyelash, just met Alexandrea straight in the eyes as he went on speaking.

"I'm not going to smoke it, gezz kid. What do ya take me for?"

With a shrug, Alex went ahead and gave in to Harry's request, handing him the clippers that had been beside the cigar in his pocket as well. But no matches.

"That's better, I was starting to feel naked. And not just cus of the draft coming in my back door if you know what I mean."

"Okay Harry, cut the crap. Or should I say, cut the crap... Commissioner O'Sullivan?"

The older man grinned ear to ear and sat up a little straighter in his hospital bed. "So you finally recognized me, huh? 'Bout damn time. What are ya, new in town?"

"Actually I had no clue who you were until I looked up your name. You must keep a low profile." Alex had been back almost 3 years, she liked to think of herself as a local.

The older man grumbled and chewed on the end of the unlit cigar then chuckled. Harry both liked to stay low key and use his position to his advantage. "I suppose given our new... 'friendship' I could look the other way on occasions. Maybe make a few files just go away, now and then. Just keep in mind I can't do a damn thing for you or anyone if I lose my job. So it's in your best interests, Blondie, to keep me in my office, alive and in one piece. Besides, admit it Blondie, I'm startin to grow on ya."
