My Tightrope

Each direction that I could fall
pulls and pushes me with fantastic possibilities
one way... is complete madness
for if this is, all just a dream
none of it is real... then neither am I.

And the other direction? IF... if it IS real?
Well just in case I better try and keep my wits about me
because then I might be real too.

But if I'm not? If 'this' isn't real? Then I could be having so much fun right now
It wouldn't matter, it wouldn't change anything and wouldn't hurt anyone.

But! What if it IS real???

Well nothing really matters in the greater scheme of things when it comes right down to it
but it might be good to really start planning for the future

It's just hard to get motivated to do that when half the time I don't believe there is any future.

Sometimes it's not so much that I wonder if my life is just an illusion, a hallucination or a dream...

but if it's my own or I'm just an extra in someone else nightmare.

there is a tide that will rise and fall without warning
it has it's own sort of beauty to some and many find it tempting
some even wade into the water for a short while
most return to shore once they learn how deep it goes

it's a quick drop and the land vanishes from under your feet
and there is never a promise of fair weather all the time
some love the dark skies and the storms but for all the wrong reasons
for a few the drama, the chaos, can all be addictive

My rose coloured glasses

They used to get carried with me everywhere I went, and I wore them indoors and out.
I used them so much, that they started to fall apart...
and one night they completely broke

I wasn't happy or sad about it but after some time I missed them.
just a little, once in awhile
so I remade them

But now they are bifocals, small rectangles of rosey coloured glass
that give me a break when I need one.

Most of the time I hold my head upright and look forward to avoid the tinted lens
but sometimes, I look down so that the pinkish glass alters my view
and seeing the ground reminds me of Nox

And... to have faith.
