[Canada Day 2014] [Saige, Mortll] Spectacle!

The night was not cold. It was Canada, but it was far from cold. At least to Saige it wasnt. She had learned over time, that those roaming the city that were like her were not particularly hard to pick out actually, if one was looking. The ones who were walking around without rosy red cheeks from the soft bite of the not so warm air; the ones who were able to handle the sixty degree weather without so much as a t-shirt on. Then there were a small few who she couldnt pick out, who were able to hide very well what they were. Saige silently wished she could, but she knew that it wasnt that simple; to wish and it come true.
She missed her mortality, honestly, so she found that when the day had finally rolled around she found herself getting dolled up and overly excited about it. It was a day of celebration! And she was determined to make the best of it. Turning the new engagement ring around on her left ring finger a couple times as she walked along, Saige sighed with a content smile curving her lips. The crowds, the people, the little kids all running around the park she was in and having a blast. Some had sparklers, and others had neon glow sticks. Saige had gotten a couple and passed a few out to some lonely enough looking people, offering them a smile and a few words of kindness before moving on to the next lonesome soul.
BOOM, pop! The fireworks had started as she giggled instinctively and put her hand to her chest, standing there on the outskirts of the crowd and looking up at the midnight blue sky that was lit up periodically and sporadically by bright flashes of colorful lights. It was like splashes on a canvas, against a jet black backdrop that couldnt help but absorb the color over time until a new firework erupted. Saige sighed again. She only wished V could have been with her, though when she had called her earlier the woman had told her that work was piling up and that maybe later she would meet up with her. Saige knew that meant not until late though, so she looked around for a place to sit.
Spotting a woman not too far off, she noticed that she had plenty of room on her blanket that was what she could only assume to be strategically placed semi-far from the crowd of bustling and noisy people admiring the splashes of artwork in the night sky. Saige felt a twinge then, looking at the woman sitting all alone and by her lonesome. She couldnt have that! This was a day for happiness, darn it! So taking a deep breath she put on her cheeriest smile and headed to the woman and her blanket. "Hello there, do you mind if I take a seat?" Of course she hadnt waited for the woman to accept or decline, as she daintily tucked her skirt and knelt, then sat back as she handed a glow stick over to the woman. "My name is Saige, its a pleasure to meet you." Her smile was so warm it made her teal hues gleam.

The woman she had sat down next to said nothing. Saige glanced down to the glow stick she was holding out to her, and suddenly thought that maybe she didnt want it. For a moment she battled internally with which to do with the toy, take it back, or continue holding it out just in case there was some unforseen reason that she didnt want to take it right away. But the moment passed just as quickly as it had started, and not wanting to assume either way about it, she simply set it down between the two of them on the blanket and gave it a quick couple of pats for safe keeping. "There you go."
Her smile never faded, her face lit up by the soft blue glow mixing with the soft green one from the glowing necklaces around her neck that matched the two bracelets on her wrists. Suddenly a child ran up to her, stopping just shy of her as if the little girl was going to run right over her and into the stranger Saige had sat with and decided upon bestowing her lovely company upon for the duration of the show.
Saige smiled warmly and without hesitation removed her bracelets and handed them over to the girl, looking around for a moment until she saw the girl's mother at the same time and pointed over to her. "Go on then," She encouraged her as she ushered her off, "Enjoy the show!" She ended with a soft wave before settling back into the seat on the cozy blanket. "Kids." She giggled lightly, looking back over to the woman whom she was sitting with.

Boom! Pop, pop, pop, poppoppop!
The fireworks got several 'oooh's!' and 'aaah's!' from the crowd, each one seemingly bigger and brighter than the last, each on sparkling and shining and glowing in its own unique way as the sky lit up more and more. Saige found her smile had grown, encompassing her whole face as her teal blues danced from one burst of light to the next, clearly enjoying the show as much as she possibly could.
It reminded her of her childhood, the way her Mother and Father had taken her to his company picnic, handed her a cup full of feed and told her to go pet the donkey and goats. Her smile faded into a more softer genuine one, the memory of her deceased parents warming her from the inside out, sighing lightly as she placed a hand behind her and leaned back slightly to relax a bit more. "These things always remind me of my own childhood." She informed the incredibly silent woman sitting next to her who's space she had slightly invaded. She didnt mind doing all the talking, that much didnt matter to her as long as she wasnt making the other uncomfortable which she figured she wasnt too much, considering the woman hadnt yelled at her or jumped up and demanded she go.
"I like the sparklers. Although I never liked the idea of kids running around with something that could hurt them... they do seem to enjoy them thoroughly." She giggled once more, turning again to look at the quiet company next to her, "I much wouldnt have minded children, honestly. So full of... carelessness. Not a worry in the world." She smiled again warmly. Bang-pow! The loud explosion startled her and she looked back up to the night sky, watching again, waiting like the crowd for the next bang.

More sparks hit the black night sky like splashes of luminescent paint on a dark canvas. She giggled as she thought about the last time she had painted. It was for a school project, with her major in the arts, and was quite an important assignment for her to complete. She had to paint something that came from her heart, that when she closed her eyes she could still paint it, the whole canvas coming from something rather emotional than realistic. It had come out as something giant, over the top, and all kinds of colors - but lacking in only one. Black. So when she showed it, she made sure to show it on a black backdrop - and someone had bought the piece for fifty thousand dollars. She smiled to herself, shaking her head as she glanced over to the woman she was sitting next to silently.
Why isnt she talking? Did I offend her? I really hope not... gosh, what if she is mute? She couldnt help the thoughts that deterred her from furthing conversation with the other; doubting that she was making her any more comfortable. But she was just being who she was, and there was nothing she could do about it now. The damage was already done. "I do so hope you aren't offended by my company." Just then she had a thought, maybe the woman was just waiting for someone else. She smiled, looking around, noticing the others around and just how engrossed in the fireworks they all were. "How fun..." She grinned, "I wish my V could have made it."

It was a hot sultry night for Canada there was an occasional breeze coming off the lake in the park . The normally quiet and sedate park had came alive for the days festivities. People strolled about finding the best places for the viewing of the fireworks show later in the night.
Mortll had staked out her spot she had a nice large indian blanket and a picnic basket It contained a much different assortment of items Than the average picnic basket. She settled into her spot as the dusk grew to true night and the crowd grew thicker. Most of the humans gave her a wide birth not because she was a vampire but the look she shot anyone that dared to get too close for any length of time . They quickly picked up and wandered elsewhere .
The crowd was settling in they mostly had their own spots plotted out as the children ran around the small groups . That is when the woman wandered up Mortll shot her a look she seemed not to notice she just started talking inviting herself to sit down on the blanket.
Mortll started to open her mouth and tell the woman to bugger off she wanted to be alone .That is all Mortll was now days all of her childer were loners the ones that weren't were busy and wrapped up in their own worlds. Most of her siblings had gone except for Noele and they hardly talked except on occasion . Mortll had dug herself into work it was her fallback and saving grace but it always left her alone. So instead of telling the woman to get the hell off her blanket she thought what could it hurt but she wasn't going to talk to her she was the bubbly type one word and Mortll would be trapped into an onslaught of constant conversation when all she wanted was to watch the fireworks and enjoy the view .

Mortll thought that when the fireworks started the woman might move on and leave her be but no luck. No matter how cold the shoulder was the bubbly spirit kept trying to engage her in conversation. Even the loud booms and all the oohs and ahhs didn't deter her in trying to get her unwilling companion to speak. Mortll didn't even shrug a shoulder but sat watching the bright bursts of light fill the nights sky and the acrid smoke wafts over the water stinging her nose she was thankful for the ability not to breath. Then she heard the words “Did i offend you ?”
Should i respond or keep my silence. The women's company wasn't really unpleasant . How she took care of the child then sent it on its way was rather nice and Mortll didn't have to glare it down until it left on its own. It seemed not so bad to have company for a change even if it was a bubbly person so far she wasn't sickeningly sweet and the type that would send you into a seizure just listening to the candy they tried to feed you . She sent out the telepathic message before she realized she had done it “No you didn't offend me just shut up and watch the fireworks “ Her face didnt change she just scooted a little further back and leaned against her basket watching the night sky .
Well if it offends her she will leave and i will have the night to myself again. If it dosnt it might be worth seeing what this one is made of Mortll thought to herself.

Her eyes went wide as she heard a voice in her head that wasnt her own. Or her sire, or her grandsire for that matter. She looked over to the woman and blinked, bright teal blues staring as she tried to ascertain if it was her that had said it or not. She giggled then, giving a shrug as she looked back to the night sky that was being lit up by the colorful explosions intentionally. She sighed, her thought swimming back to that of her sire. She missed the woman, so terribly, missed having her around. Saige knew she didnt talk that much to Juliet, but when she did she felt like she was talking to someone she could sit and spill everything to. Like she was talking to someone who would sit with her and listen for hours on end which she was sure Juliet would have done had she just asked her.
But she hadnt, and she felt a twinge of regret seep through her bones and creep up her spine into her mind. She hadnt spent the kind of time she had known she could have with the woman while she was here, and not in the darkness that was what she was told was Mexico. She frowned, thinking about it, thinking about the image she got in her head whenever she eye spied her sire. It was dark, a saddening feeling always creeping over her whenever she saw it, unable to see any light within the place. It wasnt like the nighttime, no, it was just... dark. She couldnt explain it without thinking about it more, and that was particularly something she rather didnt want to do.

Pushing those thoughts from her mind, she shifted against the blanket and watched the fireworks explode against the night sky vibrantly. Glanicng back and forth between them and the woman she was sitting with, she struggled to figure her out. Why was she so content on not talking to her? Was it because she didnt know her? Saige nearly giggled at the ridiculous thought. If it was because she didnt know her, then she would never be able to get to know her, in dismissing her simply for that fact. She shook her head slightly, though her eyes still darted between the sky and her chosen company.
She wanted to ask her her name. She wanted to ask her why she was so insistent on not talking to her; why she wanted to be alone. Was there something deeper that could have been wrong? She wanted to know why she was pushing her away - she didnt think she had done anything to deserve the harsh attitude - though she brushed it off as that the woman was probably just needing some extra sleep on the right side of the bed in the mornings. After all, she looked like she could have used a bit of cheering up and clearly Saige was right to choose her for her company. After all, who better to cheer the woman up than Saige herself? She smiled again and shifted once more against the blanked, stretching her legs out and crossing her legs over at the ankles.

"Oh!" She whispered, her phone buzzing around in her pocket of her jean blazer. Shifting again and reaching around, she silently hoped it was Velia calling her to tell her that she had found a way to make it to the fireworks show so they could enjoy the spectacle together. Pulling the brightly lit phone out of her pocket she sighed, though her smile returned almost immediately as she realized who the text was from. Mora had always been sweet to her, making her feel important within The Fledgling Foundation, making sure she was heard and her plans shared with the other members. It wasnt a very large foundation with a small base of members, but thats what made it all the more important to Saige.
She quickly sent back a reply, telling the woman that tomorrow would 'work splendid' for her, hitting send she giggled slightly at the wallpaper that appeared on her phone. It was of her and her new Schipperke puppy Princess Cara. She had shortly thereafter elegantly nicknamed her Care Bear, and the name stuck. She swiped her thumb over the screen slowly as if she were able to reach into the device and pet the fluffy pup she was unable to bring. She had come straight from the offices of the Foundation, and because of that she hadnt had the time to stop by the house and pick up the tiny little black pooch who had most certainly earned her own place in Saiges giant heart.

Pushing her thumb to the button ontop of the device then, the glow from the bright screen left her face as she pocketed the phone and sat with her hands clasped in her lap together. Looking down, her teal blue hues locked onto the beautiful diamond engagement ring that was on her left hands ring finger, signaling she was taken by another. She sighed, thinking about the fact that it meant she was going to get married. She thought about the wedding, and what it would be like. She wasnt sure she could do a giant blow out wedding, not that they couldnt afford it; she just wasnt sure she would be able to handle that many people there for her all in the same place!
Her thoughts wandered to the people then; who all would be there? Surely those of Altaire, that was what, twenty or so? Then there was Kyrian, Mercy and Sence, of course she would invite them; they were great teammates when it came to the raids that she needed help with. Thinking more on it, she wondered who Velia would invite. She hoped Oria and Knyte, she wouldnt have minded seeing them there in support for her love. But who else would Velia invite to such a thing? And then she stopped, blinking at her ring. Did Velia know anyone human that she would invite? What about a family, a human one? Saige bit into her lip at the thought that Velia might of had a family and Saige hadnt taken the time to know that precious little detail.
