Metal Working

Instead of confusing things I figured I would start this thread for the Metal Working skill. Just a couple of things.

Apparent relevant stats: Metalworking 14, Skill 22, Strength 20

1.) I agree with Mkvenner in the other thread. The experience v.s. energy ratio is absolutely horrid. 4 energy to gain 1 or 2 experience? Ouchie. I didn't think it'd be THAT bad.

2.) The chance of failure also does seem a bit off. At 17% I have failed three times with swords.

3.) Blades only have a maximum quality of 6 or is this limited by the skill in Metalworking?

4.) Why the jump from 1% to an immediate 17% which I can not seem to overcome?

I'll add to this as I discover more and experiment more but feedback would be nice and appreciated. This has been a bit...aggravating to have burned through 60+ energy and gained like...50 experience.

1) 2 energy, and you're only gaining 1 or 2 experience if you're improving quality 1 or 2 items.
"You improved the Rapid Fire Barrel from 10 to 11. You also gained 20 experience points."
It's similar with creating or breaking down weapons.

2) I've failed a few times as 17% too. If you roll a dice 5 times, you're going to roll a 1 at least 1 of those times. The code is working, and I'm crafting things too to test it out.

3) Parts only have a max of 6 if they started on 1. To get parts up to like 11, 12, 13, you'd need to break down better weapons to extract better quality parts.

4) I just overcame 60% break chance twice in a row after failing it three times in a row. As for the jump, it's kinda to do with the minimum being 1%, but it'd take a long time to explain. The formula is explained briefly on the other thread.

I agree the energy consumption for experience is a bit extreme right now, and a few other things might need to be tweaked.

Finally given this one a shot after giving a dude a restat and... yeah. I like it. The stuff that's been brought up about energy is still a thing, but we know about that. Other than that though, this does seem to be working nicely. And I like the foil options, too. The jump from 18 to 20 skill helps out a surprising amount is the one point I'd raise <.<
