So.

Lancaster's has a second level that recently has been renovated (RP only - IC, it's hard as balls to get anyone to decorate a place). Elliot has turned the second level into a backpacker's hostel. Small rooms, bunk beds, communal kitchen/bathroom. Whatever you'd normally find at a backpacker's place. Cheep rent, so on so forth.

I get the impression that most new characters that are started are ones that are new to the city. That land there on a bus, or whatever.

I'm throwing this idea out there to see if anyone would be interested, or to see if anyone knows how I might make this a legit thing that new human players/characters will know about. Rather than have their human character go stay at some random hotel or motel, have them come to Lancaster's - I will RP! Or Elliot will, anyway.

Anyone interested?

Couple ideas.

Post something about it in Just Business area. Like an advertisement of sorts.

If it's open, can you run a business from it? Word of mouth, ic could work? I know Elliot has 3 businesses atm, but if someone co-owns the building with him (IDK if anyone does, mind you), maybe they would want to start a business and make a little cash?

Rp. I'd be more than happy to have Sol pop in there once in a while. She's a free spirit and would probably go there once in a while (thread wise).

I'd have him get rid of the weapon exchange, maybe. But really the hostel part of it could just be an offshoot of Lancaster's, the pub.

Yes, you can. Each floor is classed - or can be classed - as it's own business.

Solace has the same thing on the first floor. Lots of little bedrooms for people to use and stay in - and it was just decorated earlier this week if people want to go for a nose. Solace is a refuge and shelter as opposed to a hostel. So if folks can't afford rent somewhere, they land on Solace. :)

Same thing though - always looking for ways to get it IC and for folks to RP with. I would do a business advert - but charries are dicks IC, and would **** all over a Solace advert. lol. So maybe Lan could point folks the right way if they have no cash and can't afford his place?

Basically what others have said. Either contact people who join in private about the location being 'free' to use (which is what I've done with Serenity when people have posted IC on the CrowNet about needing a place to stay), and make an ad. There could be a forum thread that lists places perhaps though for those 'in need' of a place to stay. Places that are 'lairs' can also be included, if you have David set it up so x-floor is public (for example, Serenity doesn't gain any names of people who enter the Lunar Lake Estate's main floor, if they go to the other floors she will).

Not for this, specifically. For other things I have, though.

I've been able to tie two businesses to the same location... not even different floors.

I think that is an Excellent Idea.. I also think that with Elliot's peace and love attitude, he is the perfect host for it.

IT makes so much sense that he would be willing to help out that kind of crowd.

Hostels like that.. get known more by word of mouth than actual advertising.. so maybe a really happy customer makes a flier and posts in the places that crowd tend to follow.

I don't see Elliot advertising it.. because then its more like a 'business' to make money.. whereas, I see Elliot as the type to say, "Yea sure I got a beds up stairs make your self comfortable. Pay what you can afford.."

And thats how it gets known..
