When things blow up in your face! (Enver)

Post by Charlotte Ruse »

The latest raid had just finished and Charlotte had slipped out mostly un-noticed. To be fair, she was mostly un-noticed in her night to night life. Only Jonah noticed her on the whole and she'd not seen or heard from him in a couple of nights and she was worried about him. She wasn't sure if she'd done something wrong the last time she'd seen him and had been over it in her mind a few times now, but couldn't work out if anything had gone wrong. She really needed some more confidence wher he was concerned, because he kept telling her all of these nice things about her and seemed to be really genuine about it all. But Charlotte being Charlotte, she just couldn't believe that someone like him could want to be with her - he could do so much better.

She slipped home to shower and change, because the clothes she'd been wearing had been ripped and blood stained where she'd been shot. She really needed to clean up and check to see if there were any bullets left inside of her - but she couldn't do that herself as it meant seeing blood..... which made her faint. It was a sorry state of affairs really, a vampire who fainted at the sight of blood. But she was a bit pathetic and useless at most everything - though Keara told her she was apparently good at the whole breaking and entering thing. However, she just thought the woman was being nice and didn't actually mean it. It wasn't like she actually spent any time with her, while her husband out and out threatened her with violence.

Showered and cleaned - with her eyes closed - she changed into a sunshine yellow dress with a leopard print belt and shoes, after plastering a few sticky bandages over the bullet holes as best she could. She was so stiff and sore when she moved, and she was worried that blood would leak through the bandages and stain her dress. However, she had a number of purloined items that she needed to sell off, so filling a bag she set off into the night and headed for a shop to drop them off and see what she could get in return. All while hoping, that Jonah would get in touch and just let her know that he was ok.

He needed some things to continue with his latest projects. Traps. All sorts of sizes and shapes for the security of the people he either loved or was fond of. Well, most of them. Not all of them. There were two in particular of Keara's that Enver saw as a waste of space and didn't know why she had sired either one of them. He never understood the reason as to why some were sired, when in his mind better choices could be out there. It was why Enver sired so rarely. One of the reasons why.

The male was in the Bullwood district, cleaning out a few places of some items they had too much of (or wouldn't mind missing) to continue on with his latest past time. Keara was quite fond of his craftiness it seemed and perhaps that was the biggest reason as to why Enver enjoyed tinkering around. Almost every time he presented her with something, even if it only had taken a few minutes, Keara made it seem as if it was the best thing ever given to her by anyone. He knew that wasn't true, because she was quite skilled in the art of battle and managed to attain a few relics here and there off people that were in those buildings Enver didn't much like going in to, but he appreciated the gesture regardless.

After Enver got a few things, he decided to swing by a store to get some things that he could find easy. His personal stash that helped him slip in and out of buildings easily was getting low, because he usually gave those items to his wife as of late. Not that he minded because Enver preferred not to break in to places like factories where you couldn't just get items like volatile chemicals on the street, but making her do all the work, all the time was perhaps getting taxing on his wife. It wasn't as if she seemed the type to do those things all the time. Or maybe ever.

The male stood in line and pulled out his cell phone to check over some business things. After placing some orders on some things, scheduling a few special events at the night club of sorts he ran and updating the websites of the theatre and his fishing business, Enver realized he was wandering around in the wrong area. He needed common chemicals, but somehow he ended up in the fishing aisle. Maybe it was his subconscious telling him he needed to take a break from all his work and to get out on the water again, or maybe he forgot he needed to do something with Great Sails. He chuckled, shook his head and walked away, not knowing which of the two it was. Sure, he thought about his businesses often, but Enver was sure everything was sorted and fine with his business and it wasn't as if he had time to just skip off and go fishing for a few nights.

"Back to the agenda." Enver muttered as he headed to the home chemical area. He grabbed a few bottles of cleaning products, then made his way to the check-out where something couldn't help but catch his attention. A bright yellow dress. Everything else in the store dulled in comparison to the fabric color of that dress. He blinked, then looked away from the woman in the dress, not realizing who it was at first. Until he got closer and he smelled his wife. Wasn't that weird? He still thought it was, even if Keara seemed excited over the idea of him being able to smell her. He stopped at about the time Enver was parallel to the woman and then sighed. Of course. It had to be her, right?

"Charlotte?" Enver asked without touching her, because his hands were full of various cleaning solutions. "What are you doing here?" Sure, everyone shopped for things, or so Enver believed, but he didn't think she did. To Enver, Charlotte seemed to spend most her time swindling people, unsuspecting people and moving on with her agenda, not thinking anything of her actions and the other person. Why buy things from a store, when she could rip it right out of your pockets or your back?

She'd had so much more stuff than she'd thought she'd had, so rather than just taking a bag like she normally did - she'd filled the boot of her car, and the backseat as well. Time for a full and thorough clearout she thought, as there were bits and pieces that she'd had for months and not managed to sell on. Once the car couldn't take anymore of the stuff she considered junk, she slipped into the driver's seat and drove to the Bullwood shop. She tried to change which shop she went to each time, rotating them all, so that no-one could find a pattern and track her down, hurt her. There'd been enough of that in her past and she was desperately hoping that this life would be different. So far, it had - on the whole. But there'd still been pain, people attacking her for being a vampire - but she'd healed faster than before and there had been people around who'd seemed to care and worry and want to help her. It was, a different sort of pain and reasoning behind it all.

Over the bridge she drove and noted how swollen the river seemed after the rain they'd had and the snow that was melting further up the river. It was a rather majestic thing to see, and if she'd been walking then she'd have stopped and stared for a while, enjoying the sound and sight of it all. However, she was in the car and there was another one behind her - so she just had to keep on going, turning right at the next street and heading for the shop. A couple of minutes later, she'd pulled up around the corner and parked. She swivelled in her seat and looked at all the boxes, bags and crates there and frowned. There was no way that she could carry it all at once without raising suspicion and besides which - the sheer bulk of it all would make it totally impractical if not impossible. Instead, she took a selection of what she had and made a note of the quantities of each and then crossed the road and entered the shop.

There was a fair queue of people already there, and she considered going elsewhere - somewhere less busy. People meant problems on the whole, and she really wasn't comfortable in crowds, unless Jonah was with her. (Where WAS that man?!) However, she'd come too far and she was tired and sore as the wounds in her stomach were aching and stinging. So with a sigh, she simply joined the queue and shuffled forwards with everyone, inch by inch, for what seemed like an eternity. She was off in her own mind, checking the internet and reading news stories to pass the time of day - she'd finally managed to control that power, kinda, and could now check the net. However, she couldn't write emails yet with her mind because her private thoughts kept on being written into them as well as what she actually wanted to say.

Someone said her name, and it came out of nowhere and was totally unexpected that she jumped, screamed and dropped one of the bottles of alcohol she was carrying, while turning to stare as she backed away like a startled rabbit. Everyone in the place turned around and silence descended on the shop - with a few people darting off and out of the shop, thinking that they didn't want to be involved in a fracas or police if they turned up. Her eyes found Enver and flashed recognition, but it didn't calm her - the fact that she knew him. Instead, it made her even more nervous and scared - because the second last thing he'd said to her online, was that he was going to hurt her. So she figured, this was him coming to follow through on the threat.

"Enver! No. Please. Don't hurt me. I... I.... don't want to die. I don't want the pain! Please! Please, please, please, please, please!"

She was getting herself worked up and the pleases descended into whispered pleadings as she tried to think how to escape and how much pain she'd have to take before she could get away!

The whole thing played out like a scene in some really bad movie. He would know having started out in some bad movies himself. A bottle was dropped, it shattered and she was making a scene. Enver didn't know anything about Charlotte outside the fact she was a petty thief, but to him, all this, right here should have him calling his old director friend and seeing if he needed an over-dramatic female type to fill any rolls. Because Charlotte would be great for it. No lessons required.

The male would have pinched the bridge of his nose if he didn't have so much stuff in his hands, so instead he sighed. Enver came to the realization that Telepaths, the natural kind were ******* crazy and a hysterical sort that allowed themselves to be consumed in drama, everywhere they went and every time they spoke. Case in point; Sara. Another one of Keara's childre. He couldn't believe all the crap Allurists got, compared to the nutballs of the Telepath world.

"Hey, is that, that actor guy? The one who owns that theatre we go to all the time. Oh my gawd! I think it is." Great. Charlotte already started his low key evening out with something Enver liked to avoid. There was a commotion of sorts before Enver glared at Charlotte and then turned on his heel. He wasn't going to make a scene with her. He'd never hear the end of it if it got back to Keara, which he knew it would. Charlotte of course would be the 'innocent' one in things and Enver would have, or should have known better. No. He wasn't going down that road again with another one of Keara's creations.

Are you coming, or going to stand there all day squawking about like an idiot? Enver shot a jab at her while he walked away and got in the nearest line. He wanted to get the hell out of here and away from Charlotte before she caused any further attention to the both of them.

The look he gave her, made a little part of her insides curl up, shrivel and die. She couldn't look at him, and instead stared at the woman who was recognising him. Wait, he was an actor? Maybe it was just from some local commercial for like, a used car place. Because she couldn't really imagine him in anything 'proper'. Then her head panicked. Did they know he was a vampire? Wasn't being recognised a total breach of the masquerade thing Keara had told her about? Were they in danger, was SHE in danger just because she knew him and was around him. Did Keara know what he was like, that he was recognised, that they were all in danger because of him?

The tone of his voice, the look on his face, as he basically - in her mind - ordered her to folow him, made her jump to obey. It was more out of fear than any respect or thought that it was the right thing to do. She stood behind him in the line, trying to look inconspicuous and like she wasn't with him - while a number of women flocked around him asking him for his autograph and trying to get his attention. She even saw one woman lowering the neckline of her top and adjusting her boobs in her bra before leaning over to talk to him. What in the actual hell?! She looked from the woman to Enver and back a few times, totally not believing what she was seeing and imagining how Keara would react in this situation. Should she step in and do something? Her mouth opened a couple of times, but nothing came out and she just shrank away from the whole scene.

"Keara, I think Enver's in trouble.... women.... they're.... mobbing him. They think he's an actor.... They're.... kinda.... all over him and...... OMG, did she just get her boobs OUT?!"

She didn't realise she'd sent the whole train of thought. She'd been looking for advice, to ask what to do and how to act. Just even to hear her sire's calming voice in her head to soothe her. There was something about Keara that always made everything ok and made Charlotte feel that little bit safer. She knew for a fact, that she would do anything the woman asked of her, because, well, she wasn't sure why. She just knew that if Keara asked - she'd do it. That was all there was to it.

For now though, all she could do was stand and stare and feel completely helpless.

"Put all her stuff with mine." Enver didn't care what she had, he just wanted to get the hell out of here and go back home. Before things got too bad. And that's exactly what they did. A few fans turned in to a mob of fans, or people just wanting to be near someone who used to once upon a time do a few movies and dinner time television shows.

Enver was more or less tuning the multiple questions that were shot at him, giving simple yes or no answers and not really giving any further information than that. No, he wasn't planning on doing a movie any time soon. No, he wasn't dating anyone (that was true and an amusing word play), no he and his ex-wife weren't getting back together. And finally, yes, he planned on staying in Harper Rock for a little while longer. How much longer was anyone's guess. If Keara wanted to leave, he'd be fine with it and not give it a second thought. Cash in everything he owned and start over somewhere else.

He signed a few autographs as the woman rang up all their stuff, mostly for the kids or teenagers and a couple of older fans. When a boob was popped out at him and asked to be signed, Enver reeled back a little bit and put the pen away. Far, far away and deep in his coat pocket. "Ran out of ink." He said, as if that was a good enough apology. Before the woman could reply with the fact that she had one in her purse, somewhere, the cashier was spitting out the total of all their bill and Enver handing his card over. "Come on." Enver said as he ducked around a few people, stepped over one doing who knew what the hell what down by his feet, grabbed as many bags as he could and got the hell out of the store. Not many people followed after them thankfully, as if they left with things in their hands, they'd get in some serious trouble, however, the woman who flashed her boob seemed to have forgot that and set the alarm system off at the door.

"Look, you can't be saying things like that around people. It causes too much commotion." Enver scowled at nothing, as he was staring straight ahead, assuming she was still following, if she knew what was good for her. "And it's time you and Sara stop being ridiculous about people killing you. Neither one of you are that special." Enver seethed before he stopped to look back at the woman, seeing if she really was following him or not.

The voice along with the words came through loud and clear.

"He's what?"

Keara growled, only just catching herself before she summoned him to her; as much as she'd of liked to have done that, if he really was surrounded by people, doing so would be a serious breach of vampire secrecy and would only serve to draw more attention to him. Instead she jumped up from the bed, her drawings flying all over the place as she scrabbled to get her boots on. Gizmo began barking franticly, picking up on Keara's raging emotions and was snapping at her laces as she tried to fasten her boots. Another growl escaped her lips as she took off the boot and hurled it across the room.

'Where is he?' she sent Charlotte.

'Enver? Where be you? hearing I am things that wish to hear I do not. Think I do that home you need to come. Now please. Like I would for to know what transpired has.'

She stalked the room and Gizmo followed on her heels, whimpering and barking to try and get her attention. Having had enough of the noise she scooped him up and bustled him under her arm, jostling him gently as if trying to reassure him while her mind raced. She was going to stab him, Enver that was, not Gizmo and as the desire to do so lingered in the forefront of her mind her dagger appeared in her free hand.

"But.... I...."

She put her things down and the total of them, was taken off the total of what Enver was buying - as she'd been there to sell and not to buy. However, Enver was in a mood - no surprise there - and the whole situation was uncomfortable for her, and a little bit scary. So she decided not to say anything and just go with it. It wasn't as if she only had those and couldn't get more if needs be. If it stopped her from getting stabbed or shot, then she was more than happy to go along with whatever he said! She picked up the remainder of his bags and followed him, cowering and ducking as the alarm system went off. She truly did look like a deer caught in the headlights crouching there as Enver talked at her again. However, he was still moving so she had to force herself to her feet after a quick look around and scampered after him.

She was walking in his footsteps, almost hugging the back of him as if he'd protect her. Though as it was him that was currently scaring her, it wasn't exactly the brightest of things to do. She wasn't fully paying attention to him, she was worried about what was behind them, what was coming and following. So when he stopped, she didn't and walked right into him, at speed and with force. She tripped over her feet, off balance from the collision, and landed face first in the street, on top of the bags. Something cracked, another thing popped, and something wet was running in the bags and soaking into everything else.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry. I..... I wasn't watching. I wasn't paying attention. And... what?"

She frowned, her brain catching up to what he'd said.

"You threatened ME!"

She rolled over and sat up, looking forlornly at the bags she'd crushed and sighed. However, before she could say anything else, Keara's voice entered her mind and she groaned.....

"Enver..... I...."

But she could see from the man's face that Keara had spoken to him too. She knew, in that moment, that in her panic she'd fucked up massively. In her panic and worry, she'd stressed out her sire for no reason - and she didn't even know how bad it was, as she had no idea she'd told Keara about the boobs!

"I'm sorry Enver.... I didn't mean..... I mean.... I was scared. For you."

"Keara, it's fine. We're in the street, we're away, safe. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to worry you for now reason."

She dusted her skirt off, still sitting in the street, and drew the bags to her, peeking inside and trying to sort through what was salvagable and what was lost.

His wife was in his head and normally he didn't mind it. Her presence in his head was welcomed and familiar. But what the hell was she talking about? Hearing what things? Nothing transpired and he was no where special. His brows furrowed together as he tried to make sense of it all, only to hear Charlotte's voice in front of him now.

He hadn't seen her fall, because his wife was in his mind, unexpectedly, so how she got there was only felt, when she had ran in to him. Though he didn't even acknowledge it because it didn't hurt and it didn't feel like the bump in to him was threatening in nature. He sighed when he heard Charlotte explain what probably happened before he groaned and offered her a hand up.

"It's fine. She'll be fine. Not sure why you were scared for me. What? I'd get squished to death by a set of Double D's?" Enver scoffed, then chuckled as he waited for her to take his hand or not. With his mind, the male reached out for his wife. He wondered if it looked silly, him standing there doing nothing but concentrating as he thought of what to say and how to reach out to her to people who saw him doing the act without knowing what the hell he was doing. I'm fine. Everything's fine. He assured her with his thoughts.

I'm on my way home. Just had a few errands to run and seems they're done for the night. Even if most of everything might be ruined now. Enver looked at Charlotte. "Maybe it's best you come with and explain that there was nothing really going on. And that I was with you the whole time." Enver offered, in a questioning manner, hoping she'd come with him and tell his wife that nothing happened. Nothing he thought was important and that Enver had done nothing wrong.

‘Too late,’ she sent Charlotte. ‘Worried I am.’

Keara was annoyed and if Enver didn't get home soon, she knew it wasn't going to work out well for anyone.

'Care I do not for your errands,' she then growled at her husband. 'Home now you should come. Make me summon you not.'

Keara span the dagger in her hand as she looked to Gizmo; his little face helping to keep her calm even if he was now squirming to get away from her as he'd picked up on her changing energy.

"Know you do that daddy in trouble is. Yes he is. Big trouble. Mummy's going to stab him."

The usual baby talk helped to keep her other powers under control, as the room stayed suspiciously quiet despite her building rage. It was stupid to be angry at Enver for something he couldn't control but then Keara had very limited information to go off of and the stories she had playing in her mind didn't allow much for his innocents. When it came to Enver, Keara's common sense seemingly didn't exist.

Her instincts told her to go upstairs, as Enver wasn't likely to bring Charlotte into their cell and so, still raging, she made her way out of the cell to the elevator. All the while talking to her pup about how his daddy shouldn't be walking the streets alone and how Auntie Deanna ought to be keeping an eye on him if women were going to be throwing themselves at him.
