Teeth [Pathday 3]

She had a long day or rather a night ahead of her. She stared at her to-do list knowing that for the millionth time she really was not a ritualist, she didn't like trapping the fae, she didn't like the idea of using the fae to do her dirty work... not that any of it was actually dirty as she never used her abilities or the Fae's abilities to calm harm, she rubbed her arm some as she stared at the list. She had thought to improve her abilities simply because she wanted to be of use... and seeing as she lacked any sort of fighting skills... short of sword dancing... well what could be the harm in trying to learn something? If nothing else she could just return to her case studies and lock herself away from the world... which she was doing more and more every night.
Standing she called over Sethos and got him ready to go with her, grabbing a nice dog hand bag that matched her outfit, just for when he got tired. Putting on his leash they walked towards the front door, she paused long enough to leave a note that she would be out for several hours, and then went out the front door.
The walk to the front gate that surrounded her Estate was almost always open but she had learned that sometimes, it was important to close the door, which she did this night. Her eyes moved towards the grounds that had once been nothing at all but wilderness near a lake almost three years ago.

This was the area she had met her first Necromancer, when she was nothing more than a human. The lake hit against the shore and she slowly lifted her eyes up towards the night sky, it had been warmer when she had meet Jareth, she had been so bent on trying to reach her grandmother and mother on the other side, she had spent nights within the library doing research, digging through old and rare books to cast the spell... a spell that she had put so much faith in and when it had failed... Jareth had been there to give her some sort of comfort.
Her eyes trailed towards the edge of the woods, she had chosen this location because no one ever came out here, she frowned slightly trying not to show her annoyance at how the city had grown, and how her own race had come to move into the area, so they could play with the dead things that were within the catacombs, focusing instead on the one dead creature that Jareth had brought to life that night.
The cat had been in rather good shape, for something that had been dead for several days. She had watched him in wonder and had he moved his hand with ease, bring the creature to life, there was control over the small fragile creature, control but he had warned her that it was not alive, that it had only basic survival and would return to such a state if he was not controlling the creature. She had not wanted to believe that at all, no, she wanted to believe that it had a mind, it had a soul...
Yet as he had explained that it felt nothing, even as it purred in it's unnatural stated as she held the creature so close to her, she knew she could not take it home... not only had she no home to take the creature too but if what he had said. It would only be for her own lonely heart that she would have the poor thing. So the spell was discasted, he had given her his card, and left her alone to bury the creature.
The first thing she had done when she had moved onto these lands, bought them, was put a single stone marker with a simple outline of a cat right near the Giant Oak tree that she had buried the creature.
Sighing softly she looked down at the little dog who was not amused by her unmoving state and scooped him up in her arms even though he protested with a growl before kissing the top of his head, “Come Sethos...” she whispered softly as she made her way down the hill.

Her first stop had been to Coastside, she figured here was the best location, Cliff and Prudence had a business not to far from the Coastside Station, called High Noon Saloon it was pretty easy to get too and she had in the past for many nights come down this way daily to give some aid to Cliff.
Her mind began to wander as she stepped inside the only thing she could call a 'Country Bar' in this city, at least the only one she personally knew about anyways and she wasn't exactly sure it counted as one either.
Still as she bent over to pick up the small dog and put him into her bag her mind began to recall how for almost a week she had come down here, walking the long hall of the place to get to where Cliff was, all the way towards the back, through a crowd of people, which included Blood Thieves, Gangsters, and who knew what else this one business attracted.
She would make her way to where Cliff would be waiting she never really said anything to him, even though if she was going out of her way to come here. The man was being cursed daily more than once a day and she had been unable to find out who or why.... all she really knew in the end was that he was being cursed and required spirits to heal himself. That was back when the healing magic in this city was stronger, now it had weaken.

Still she would come up to him and begin to summon spirit after spirit... and soon he seemed to almost welcome her present there as she did her task of summoning those spirits. At least she hoped that was the case, as he began to hit her with his toy weapon, a wooden stick right upside her head. It wasn't exactly a hard hit but she hadn't been very amused by the gesture at all.
Still it became almost acceptable near the end, and most of all Cliff had been able to get others to come to his aid. She checked him, for a couple days after, she didn't notice anything that told her he was endanger or in need and so she had simply left.
“I do that...” she whispered towards Sethos as she walked around the place, trying to keep an eye out for any gangster that looked like he might have a diamond tooth. She would be summoned, or asked for help and she would do it, but as soon as it was done she would disappear into the night, if you called it really 'disappearing' still perhaps it meant something was wrong with her besides what she already knew about herself.
Sethos licked her hand and she smiled softly at him, “I think this is a bust...” she said softly, there had been a few gangsters but none that would do her any good, at least not from what she could tell. As she moved towards the exist she stopped, her head turning as she listened to two people whispering about Nightmode having a lot of gangsters hanging around of late. A small smile played across her lips as she rushed towards the door.

It had been a bit of a walk as she came up towards the building, she had only been there once before and her memory of the place wasn't exactly one that shouted 'joy' at all. Still if there was gangsters to be found within, well she was just going to have to go in. She pushed Sethos head inside the bag, “Stay hidden...” she whispered towards the little dog and walked inside.
It was exactly how she remembered it, dark with a lot of green. She looked, completely out of place and the way that several heads to turn to look at her mind her remember the first time she had come into this place and why she had told herself she would never return to this building.
She had been tracking down a rumor about a man she was hunting, a man who was said to have a great deal of power and he didn't care who he hurt to keep that power. She had thought to go hunting on her own, this night. She figured she couldn't relay on Odin to always do it and while she didn't like hunting in her own city, as it brought to much attention to herself, she had chosen to at least scope him out. Then make her plans for what to do at the end of it.
She had dressed for the night, or at least she thought she had dressed for the night. High heals, tight fitting black dress, that she had been told still held class, not that she had seen it. She had flatten her hair pulled it into a tight pony tail. Men and sometimes women, didn't tend to like the innocent creature, they liked naughty and bad girls, the sort you could have a 'one night stand' with not the sort you went off to marry... unless you became a vampire then it seemed to be reversed.
What she had been expecting she wasn't exactly sure but she knew the moment she entered that night that she had caught the eye of several and three times she had been almost drugged. The last time she would have been for sure, had a hand not fallen on the glass she was about to drink, she had just gotten it from the bartender she hadn't expected it to be drugged. Apparently it had been the bartender who had aimed to drug her.

“You don't belong here” her eyes turned towards the man leaning against the wall.
She could only smile, “No... I suppose not...”
The man leaned forward, he wasn't exactly the same man as before but he had the same since of vibe around him he leaned over her looking her up and down, “You should just turn around and walk out. This place...” he lowered his voice, “It's not safe...” and she knew why it wasn't safe. She had learned that night that the reason they had tried to drug her was to sell her.
She hadn't realized such things happened in this side of the world as well. Not until that night anyways, The man had explained to her that, they shipped women off to other parts of the world for trade in other things. This place while it claimed no connection at all to such deals, tended to get missing people. She had left out of the fact that there were a lot of missing people who just became vampires and dropped their whole lives... wasn't exactly something you told strangers.
Still she had called a Taxi, the man had pretty much put her into the cab and she was sent home, or she should say she was sent to one of her apartments within the city. She didn't exactly want to be known. The whole night that night had been a bust other than the fact she had learned a lesson. Sometimes it was better to bring backup.
Smiling she looked up at the man, “I will be fine. I'm just...” he leaned forward blocking her way. She stared at him, even if he was trying to keep her safe, they wouldn't normally block the way.
“I don't think you heard me...” it was the tone this time that she understood. There was something going on tonight here, something legal or illegal and no one they didn't know would be allowed in. She sighed heavily and turned to leave.
“When did getting teeth become so hard?” she muttered to the little dog as he popped his head out of the bag.

Sethos sat glaring at everyone who passed by from his bag as she made her way off the transit station, she had not been on this side of town in ages but still she had no issues being down here at all, she had recalled when Prince was wandering about doing, she wasn't exactly sure down here that he had been the one to find that several gangsters liked to hang about down here. The Docks, there honestly wasn't that much here in her mind. Unless you were heavy into fishing.
Her eyes stopped starring at the man who was welcoming people with a pail of bait and a basic fishing rod, all free to use he proclaimed he called out. Biting her lower lip she watched as a young man took a pail and rod and entered the building, she knew exactly what the older man would be saying as he held the door open.
“Fish all ya like, plenty of fish in the sea, we'll buy your best catches and the rest ya can take home or sell elsewhere. Can't take this stuff anywhere though, it's not yours to keep, whatever is left of the bait is returned and so is the rod”
She couldn't help but smile some as she had recalled being lured into the place, Nimrod had killed... by mistake... all the fish in the pound at the Estate and she had wanted to replace them with new fish. She should have been going to a fish shop but she had mistakenly ended up at a little shack that was starting a new promo to get people into fishing, a 'business that was in dire need' she recalled the man telling her, so she had gone, not fully expecting to have a rod forced into her hands.

She was completely horrid at fishing. Still she had spent several hours fishing, and she felt like given up every single time the fish got away, but the elderly men on the dock had noticed her and began to help her get a good understanding of the basics, they had guided her hands into proper positions, encouraged her and then after all their hard work (and perhaps a bit of her own) she had caught her first fish. Not a shoe, not a can, but a real fish. She had been so startled by it that she had almost lost the pole, and the fish into the water, but they had helped to unhook the creature and put it into a waiting bucket.
It had been such a small fish, barely bigger than her hand, but they had praised her and she had felt rather proud of herself. She had come back for a straight week, and then had stopped. She had no reason for why she had stopped other than the voice that dug into her head from time to time. She tighten her hands around the straps of the purse that Sethos sat in.
Vowing mentally to herself that she would return to indeed fish one of these nights. Fishing might not had made her wiser, or stronger, or did anything really for her but she had to admit she enjoyed it some, it was a simple task, that didn't require any thinking and she knew that the old fishers if they were inside, were wonderful company during the long hours of waiting for a simple bite.
Turning on her heel she smiled down at Sethos, “let's not bother them tonight though...” she whispered to the little dog.

Not to far from the docks there was a little shop, simply called “Viking” tucked away from the main streets, down a little side street laid a single building, the ground was nothing more than dirt, it had been filed with motorcycles, and parts, and Viking wasn't exactly a 'motorcycle shop' nor more than it was a 'bar' but they sold them regardless, and were more than happy to set you up with exactly what you wanted.
Prince had been the one to find the shop, had noticed the signs that had said for sell, and she had went, following the wraith down the street, not knowing what she was heading for. Viking was also a place where a local biker gang hanged out and she had not known this and Prince had not said a single word to her about what to expect.
So when she had seen two guys laughing, in torn jeans and leather jackets she had thought perhaps, this wasn't the place to shop after all for a gift. She had just been on her way to rush out, when she almost ran right into one of the largest men she had ever seen. She had been certain at first the man was a Killer, as they always seemed so tall. Yet that had not been the case, he had grinned at her. His voice had been so loud, as he called his friends over.
She knew she was a vampire, she knew she was stronger than the average human but still she found herself frozen inside. There was no one hurt here, there was no one in need, and thus she had no idea how to act, or what to say as she was spun around. It happened rather quickly to be honest, she had been asked what she was looking for she had whispered a gift for a friend and then she was being shown motorcycle after motorcycle,
To say she was overwhelmed by the whole experience would had been an understatement, she had ended up buying four motorcycles and she likely would of bought more had they themselves not stopped her from buying a fifth, but she had no idea what to get him and so she had simply thought as many different styles as possible. They had then asked her if she was even sure the man getting the gift had any idea how to ride and she could recall how they teased her about how red her face had gotten.

The answer had been simple, she had no idea if he had known how to ride, fact she didn't know how to ride either but she left that little fact out, but she was pretty certain they knew she had no clue. Still they had promised to drop them off, and if she had wanted anymore information or help to give them a call.
They had done just that, but even better. They had painted one of them just for her, it had been a lovely shade of blues and purples with moons and stars and she had began to read everything she could about how to ride one, and then... she had gotten onto that beautiful bike and it had ended up smashed in Ripper's church wall.
“Hey Moon-girl” her eyes turned quickly her thoughts as she turned to look up at the very large man who had first caught her eye, “Come back for another one?” he grinned at her and she looked down at Sethos who for once wasn't growling. He glared however, slowly she lifted her head back up towards the man and shook her head “No Mr. Little...” she said softly, “I was looking for some things...” she paused for a moment before looking at him again, “You wouldn't happen to have any diamond teeth would you?”
Little had stared at her for a moment and then started to laugh, “Aren't you just sweet thing? Ain't got no diamond teeth though, got a couple of silver fillings though.”
Sighing heavily she nodded her head, “It's alright... have you seen... any gangsters around?”
This time he looked at her, she felt like she was a small little girl about to get the disappointment lecture that her Grandfather Shi or Grandmother Shi would give to her. In the end he just shook his head, “Even if I did wouldn't tell you, their not the sort of people you should be around. We might look dangerous but we're good nature, they are dangerous and that rat you have in your bag” Sethos growled but he paid no mind, “Won't be much protection for you.” he turned her around and she found herself marching towards what they called a 'parking lot' “Come on I'll take you home.”
