--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Doc: *Doc throws the covers off the bed.. * Can I get dressed first?

Paige: *Paige regards his exposed genitals with disgruntlement* Please do.

Doc: "and.. who let you in?" As he stands up and puts on his slacks. He was going to have to tell Lia to be more careful.

Paige: "Magical powers," She whispered truthfully and watched him change like a vulture watching another vulture that might possibly die and thus create a moral dilemma involving cannibalism.

Doc: "Hmmm" He gave her a disapproving grimace, while shrugging into a dress shirt. "You could have called.. " He buttons the shirt and moves to his wardrobe to get socks. "What are you wanting to steal?"

Paige: "You didn't answer your phone," she whispered. Her glowing orange eyes narrowed like an impatient cat's. "You were asleep. Naked and vulnerable. I could have murdered you." Was it a warning to take better care, or was it her pointing out that she didn't when she could have?

Doc: "It has voicemail." He pulls his socks on. "And I was sleeping.. " he grins knowlingly. "Good kind of sleep.. " He moves to the tie rack and hold out two.. "Left or right?"

Paige: She pointed to the red one. It matched hers. With an indignant toss of her head, the raven-haired vampire whispered "We will be breaking into a bank vault. There will be security guards and night shift workers but no civilians. There are some documents which must disappear."

Doc: Doc hung the other one back up. "And.. why me?"

Paige: "I heard about your mate. When my mate betrayed me, I did something to make myself feel better. You will feel better doing this," she replied as if it was not an opinion but a fact. Every man wanted to be part of a heist. It was the male equivalent of a Mary Sue romance novel.

Doc: Doc stood infront of the mirror and tied his tie. "You heard huh?" He sighed, "Who from?" Cyth was probably crying to whomever would listen. He glanced at Mako, "You know.. I get more now.. than the whole time I was married." He moved to the chair and grabbed his shoulder holster. Buckling it into place he looked at, "Papers that have to disappear. What about copies? There are typically always copies.. "

Paige: Paige shrugged. It was not as though sex was not important to the vampire, but when she wanted it she tended to take it by force from her human victims, who were none the wiser after she fed from them. "Why tie yourself to anyone," she growled softly. She would answer his other question in the car. Which still needed to be stolen.

Doc: "Stupidity.. and it was a dare.. like I said.. stupidity." He noticed she ignored his questions, he would get his answers or he would just not help at a critical moment. "Figure now I am bound for eternity .. don't have to worry about being dragged down the aisle again.. "

Paige: She nodded, passing no judgement, or at least not out loud. "I see." She was silent for a few moments before deciding to divulge everything. "I am working on a building project for Mr. Groom this year. This one in particular is the renovation of a locale Mr. Groom wishes to remain secret. We are to have the only copies of the documents. We do own all of the digital information already. In fact the vault is Mr. Groom's company's vault. Mr. Groom wishes to be the sole owner of the only physical copies of these blueprints and records. I am going to steal them so that the company is forced to write it off as a loss. At the same time, Mr. Groom will have false copies placed in their stead." She started coughing, choking and rattling from speaking so much.

Doc: Doc listened and digested everything she said. "So as not to be presumptive.. Wendell is aware, we are going to be breaking in?" He then thought and added, "Should you even be involved? After all insurance company could decide it looks like an inside job.. and the scrutiny would not be good for Wendell."

Paige: "Wendell is aware," she assured him, then growled "I don't want him taking another arm of mine." On the way out of the door, Paige assured him "Wendell has his hands in their pockets. This is a mere formality." So it was a sham heist. Not very thrilling.

Doc: Doc nodded, grabbed his jacket as they left. Ideas were already floating about his head, how to make this look less like an inside job and more like a theft of opportunity. "Any human's work for Wendell.. ?"

Paige: "The ones on the project are working for me. I have been asked not to murder any of them. A few of them have tried my patience," the adolescent grumbled and clenched a bony fist. "I want to steal a car. It will look like a joyride. If we steal weapons and the vehicle from a gang, and shoot some of the gangsters, we can implicate a rival gang." But what would gangsters want with documents?

Doc: "No I don't intend to kill anyone.. I was thinking.. find an employee's car.. take it for a joyride.. find the employee's pass key in the car.. use it to get it to the business. Follow me?" He paused, "So the police will eventually put the employee's stolen car with the heist at groom industries.."

Paige: Paige nodded. "Groom Industries used to be a weapons manufacturer for the military. There are still some old men on the payroll who dislike the turn we are taking. Nosy old fools." She didn't know where they would find a car of theirs, though. It was time for one of them to retire anyway.

Doc: "Got a name?" Doc asked as he pulled his phone and texted his source in the Police department. "I can their address pretty quickly. Most humans that still live and work here.. are only here because they cannot afford to leave. Most will only have one home address. And from the address we can get tag numbers cross referenced."

Paige: "Fred J. Babineaux. He is collecting dust as it is," Paige stated remorselessly. She was glad that she had asked Doc to join her. He had more experience, more resources and less reckless ideas.

Doc: Doc texted the name to his source, and he opened the door for Mako to exit the West Tower building ahead of him, while he was waiting for a reply. "This will not get him fired, but I am sure someone will repriman him about being careless with pass keys." His phone buzzed, "Cedar Court.. Drives older Pontiac Gram Am. That's walking distance from here. Shall we?"

Paige: She nodded and mimicked walking, levitating only a few milimeters from the ground and taking steps. Nobody would notice, unless they were paying attention, that her footsteps didn't make a sound. She also cast no shadow. "His car probably smells like piss," she growled. She seemed to have a firm dislike of her coworker for some reason. Perhaps he had been trying to call her into question. She was, after all, clearly a teenager. In makeup and with contact lenses she managed to pass for a young woman in her twenties, a prodigy from Russia, but it would not be surprising if others raised questions about her credentials when so many of them had been bucking for promotion. She was an outsider.

Doc: "We wont be in it that long.. Joy ride to the fairgrounds.. sounds like some place a group wanting a quick fix would do.. find the proximity pass key.. know that Groom does weapons.. fast easy money on the streets for untraceable weapons.. crime of opportunity."

Paige: "Alright," she said and tore the door open. It had been locked. She was wearing black gloves, of course. "Do you know how to hotwire it, or do I need to go in and steal."

Doc: Doc grins, "Watch and learn." He made to pick up a screwdriver before they left his apartment. He jammed the screwdriver into the ignition and turned. The engine started. He winked at her. "So much easier than hot wiring.."

Paige: Paige grinned evilly and got into the passenger's seat. She kept her belt unbuckled and took her gun out to make sure, for the fifth time, that it was alright.
Doc: Doc eased the car out of the drive way.. and drove down the block. "Ok.. let's see if we can find that proximity card that would get us in Groom,.." He checked the visor and was rewarded by finding it tucked in behind the mirror. "Nice." He handed Mako the card. This gets us in.. I can go into shadows easily and not be seen.. presuming you have enough mojo to as well?"

Paige: "Old idiot," she grumbled even though finding the keycard was fortunate for them. She turned the card over in her gloved hands, then sniffed it. "Yes," she whispered. "I can also lower security." That's right, he was another shadow, wasn't he? Black blood, no shadow, no reflection. Did it ever bother him? She decided not to ask. She had dragged him this far under the notion that he was supposed to be cheering up. Reminding him of things that made Paige herself depressed was probably a bad idea.

Doc: He looked at her, "But by all means.. lower if it makes you feel better.." He shrugged. He was going to be invisible anyway.. didn't matter to him.

Paige: Better safe than sorry. Paige glanced out the window and watched the passing scenery. The fairgrounds would look haunted this time of night. It was a place where humanity normally flourished, and lay cold and abandoned at night.

Doc: "Check the glove box.. the guy may keep a gun.. might as well make it look legitly like joyriding lil bastards.. check the door side pockets.."

Paige: Paige checked everything. He was not a boring gun nut. She took her own gun and took off the safety, then aimed in the air.

Doc: 'Nothing?" He grimaced. He was hoping to find somethign that could be taken, that would annoy the guy. So he push the cops to work the case. But it was what it was.

Paige: "We can leave cigarette burns," she offered. She didn't have any cigarettes, though.

Doc: "That's damage that would be covered by insurance not a cop issue. Was really hoping for a gun."

Paige: Paige held up her own gun. "Any gun?"

Doc: "No was hoping the old guy had a gun.. a stolen gun on the street taken by joy riders.. Cops will notice.. and then when the break in happens at Groom.. they will piece it together.. " He glances at her as he brings the car to a halt. "Bread crumbs.. gotta leave them breadcrumbs to follow"

Paige: "This man was boring. He clearly had no breadcrumbs." Even so, Paige climbed into the backseat and began looking through papers in the pockets on the back of each front seat. Frustrated, she threw each one on the ground to stomp and tear.

Doc: "Yes, well maybe he will be smart enough to inform that cops when he hears about the breaking at groom.. " He started out toward Groom Industries, "We've wasted enough time. We have a 18 block walk ahead of us... time to shake it."

Paige: Paige got out and kicked in a few of the windows. So much for not wasting time.

Doc: Doc shook his head, subtly was not her strong suite. He just maintained his course to Groom Industries.

Paige: She caught up with him ten minutes later, looking somewhat satisfied. She entered the shadows, used her coworker's keycard and led the way to the company vault.

Doc: Doc went into shadows as well, but he made sure to go through the various offices before ending up at the vault. He made sure to open drawers.. check computer screens, and look for 'passwords' that people may keep close to their stations. He was looking for the vault combination. He was sure Paige could get it open she knew the combination, but they had to make it look like this crew of teenage hoodlums got lucky. In one of the offices, it was clear the person who worked here was highly organized. Things were laid out neatly, and ready for work the next morning. It appeared to him to be an assistants office. There were too many incomplete projects in process. This person might actually have the combination to the vault. He went through the desk hunting for that combination.

Paige: "Try the second drawer down on the left," Paige remarked. "Don't throw anything." She watched him suspiciously and didn't stop glaring until the combination was safely in his hand.

Doc: Doc had the combination now, and looked at Mako, as he slowly shoved the nice and neat piles of paper into the trash. She busts windows.. he fucks with people's paper work. He smiled his smug closed mouth smile. "Oops. My Bad."

Paige: "I am going to skin you alive," she grumbled under her breath as she stalked past him, not directly to the vault, but into another office. First she was going to take it out on Harry. Then Dan, then Sue.

Doc: He grinned. "No you aren't.. and you know why? Because you know I had to do it.. other wise it is too neat.. too pat. Too planned."

Paige: "It will make me feel better," she grumbled and tossed a printer into the garbage.

Doc: "Remember... Wendell knows who did this...don't get carried away."

Paige: She stopped trashing Sue's cubicle and sighed. With one final kick to her computer monitor, Paige then turned and led the way to the vault. She took Doc's shoulder and led the shadowed man past it first, so they could get a good look. Two security guards. Tons of cameras.

Doc: Doc stayed in shadows as crept closer. He had presumed they would be do rounds.. but they were actually stationed there. He moved back to Mako, and motioned her to follow him... He whispered, "You're going to be a distraction.. Go as far from here as possible in the building.. mess the room up and scream.. When the guards get there.. act hurt, tell them they jumped you, you fought over the gun.. *he looks at her gun* and tell to go get them.. meanwhile, I will open the safe, take every thing.. and meet you back at my apartment. Good?"

Paige: Paige blushed a little. "I can't scream." She could barely gasp. Her throat was too mangled. But after a moment she held up a finger. "I can use the PA system."

Doc: Doc nodded, he had forgotten about her voice issues. "No.. fire the gun.. that will get noticed..."

Paige: "Good," she told him. "Please excuse me." With that, she slipped away. At the opposite end of the corridor was a storage room which housed outdated office supplies waiting to be resold or shipped out. She made a quiet mess, threw herself down and fired her gun several times at the door. Doc would see both of the officers panic and rush there with their firearms drawn. One called for backup. Doc would have to be quick. Paige realized this and texted him the serial number for the item he needed to nab, then resumed looking like a victim. The guards didn't know her very well but saw her as a kid or an intern who was grossly overworked. "You okay Paige? What happened?" Gasping, she tearfully whispered. "Someone was moving stuff in here. I just wanted to see what they were doing. He and his friends ran off toward the northwest elevator." She slumped and one of the officers took off toward the elevator while the other began to gently lecture Paige on the safety of coming to them first when something was suspicious.

Doc: Doc spun the combination wheel and opened the vault. He had seen Mako's text, but he know it would look odd if only one thing was taken. He grabbed the file in question as well as several other files to make it look good. He then used his arm to sweep the remainder of the contents of the safe out and on to the floor. He pulled his tome and read it, dispersing quickly, and coalescing in safety elsewhere. He then headed for the apartment.

Paige: Paige was gone for hours filing paperwork and providing witness testimony. Many of the cameras on that floor had been vandalized. The cops didn't suspect her. Though she was an employee, they seemed to see her as a young intern in the wrong place at the wrong time. One offered her a ride home, which she accepted with a frightened nod. He drove her to her cabin, she thanked him, went inside and texted Doc. "I heard that the vault was compromised. Good job."

Doc: *text* You should come collect this stuff..

Paige: "I am on my way." She had no tome to call her own, so she took slightly longer to get there as she avoided cameras and didn't drive her company car. It would look too suspicious. She had a traumatic experience and had been at home all night, and would call in sick the next shift. Mr. Groom would take care of the rest. The thrill finally set in as Paige let herself into Doc's apartment. She whispered "I am coming in."

Doc: "Come on in.." Doc was on the sofa, reading a book, and motioned silently to the stack of papers on the coffee table. He turned a page. He hmm'ed to himself, and flipped back a few pages, reread a passage and nodded slightly to himself. Finally he looked up at Mako. "Took you long enough.. "

Paige: She growled at him in return and sorted through each folder. It was all there. Even some unrelated records pertaining to Mr. Groom's past as an infantryman. After a cursory glance, she stuffed them into her satchel and glared. "I promised you a beating, but you did well. I will not punish you this time." She spoke like a queen admonishing a knight.

Doc: He gave her a flat look and dryly intoned, "I am thrilled beyond belief. Have a good evening Mako."

Paige: She seemed to take him seriously despite his expression, and nodded generously. She began to leave, paused briefly at the door, whispered "...Thank you for your help. I hope that you feel better." With that out of the way, she vanished into shadows.

Doc: Doc smirked, and shook his head. He went back to reading.
