--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Doc: *Doc throws the covers off the bed.. * Can I get dressed first?
Paige: *Paige regards his exposed genitals with disgruntlement* Please do.
Doc: "and.. who let you in?" As he stands up and puts on his slacks. He was going to have to tell Lia to be more careful.
Paige: "Magical powers," She whispered truthfully and watched him change like a vulture watching another vulture that might possibly die and thus create a moral dilemma involving cannibalism.
Doc: "Hmmm" He gave her a disapproving grimace, while shrugging into a dress shirt. "You could have called.. " He buttons the shirt and moves to his wardrobe to get socks. "What are you wanting to steal?"
Paige: "You didn't answer your phone," she whispered. Her glowing orange eyes narrowed like an impatient cat's. "You were asleep. Naked and vulnerable. I could have murdered you." Was it a warning to take better care, or was it her pointing out that she didn't when she could have?
Doc: "It has voicemail." He pulls his socks on. "And I was sleeping.. " he grins knowlingly. "Good kind of sleep.. " He moves to the tie rack and hold out two.. "Left or right?"
Paige: She pointed to the red one. It matched hers. With an indignant toss of her head, the raven-haired vampire whispered "We will be breaking into a bank vault. There will be security guards and night shift workers but no civilians. There are some documents which must disappear."
Doc: Doc hung the other one back up. "And.. why me?"
Paige: "I heard about your mate. When my mate betrayed me, I did something to make myself feel better. You will feel better doing this," she replied as if it was not an opinion but a fact. Every man wanted to be part of a heist. It was the male equivalent of a Mary Sue romance novel.
Doc: Doc stood infront of the mirror and tied his tie. "You heard huh?" He sighed, "Who from?" Cyth was probably crying to whomever would listen. He glanced at Mako, "You know.. I get more now.. than the whole time I was married." He moved to the chair and grabbed his shoulder holster. Buckling it into place he looked at, "Papers that have to disappear. What about copies? There are typically always copies.. "
Paige: Paige shrugged. It was not as though sex was not important to the vampire, but when she wanted it she tended to take it by force from her human victims, who were none the wiser after she fed from them. "Why tie yourself to anyone," she growled softly. She would answer his other question in the car. Which still needed to be stolen.
Doc: "Stupidity.. and it was a dare.. like I said.. stupidity." He noticed she ignored his questions, he would get his answers or he would just not help at a critical moment. "Figure now I am bound for eternity .. don't have to worry about being dragged down the aisle again.. "
Paige: She nodded, passing no judgement, or at least not out loud. "I see." She was silent for a few moments before deciding to divulge everything. "I am working on a building project for Mr. Groom this year. This one in particular is the renovation of a locale Mr. Groom wishes to remain secret. We are to have the only copies of the documents. We do own all of the digital information already. In fact the vault is Mr. Groom's company's vault. Mr. Groom wishes to be the sole owner of the only physical copies of these blueprints and records. I am going to steal them so that the company is forced to write it off as a loss. At the same time, Mr. Groom will have false copies placed in their stead." She started coughing, choking and rattling from speaking so much.
Doc: Doc listened and digested everything she said. "So as not to be presumptive.. Wendell is aware, we are going to be breaking in?" He then thought and added, "Should you even be involved? After all insurance company could decide it looks like an inside job.. and the scrutiny would not be good for Wendell."
Paige: "Wendell is aware," she assured him, then growled "I don't want him taking another arm of mine." On the way out of the door, Paige assured him "Wendell has his hands in their pockets. This is a mere formality." So it was a sham heist. Not very thrilling.
Doc: Doc nodded, grabbed his jacket as they left. Ideas were already floating about his head, how to make this look less like an inside job and more like a theft of opportunity. "Any human's work for Wendell.. ?"
Paige: "The ones on the project are working for me. I have been asked not to murder any of them. A few of them have tried my patience," the adolescent grumbled and clenched a bony fist. "I want to steal a car. It will look like a joyride. If we steal weapons and the vehicle from a gang, and shoot some of the gangsters, we can implicate a rival gang." But what would gangsters want with documents?
Doc: "No I don't intend to kill anyone.. I was thinking.. find an employee's car.. take it for a joyride.. find the employee's pass key in the car.. use it to get it to the business. Follow me?" He paused, "So the police will eventually put the employee's stolen car with the heist at groom industries.."
Paige: Paige nodded. "Groom Industries used to be a weapons manufacturer for the military. There are still some old men on the payroll who dislike the turn we are taking. Nosy old fools." She didn't know where they would find a car of theirs, though. It was time for one of them to retire anyway.
Doc: "Got a name?" Doc asked as he pulled his phone and texted his source in the Police department. "I can their address pretty quickly. Most humans that still live and work here.. are only here because they cannot afford to leave. Most will only have one home address. And from the address we can get tag numbers cross referenced."
Paige: "Fred J. Babineaux. He is collecting dust as it is," Paige stated remorselessly. She was glad that she had asked Doc to join her. He had more experience, more resources and less reckless ideas.
Doc: Doc texted the name to his source, and he opened the door for Mako to exit the West Tower building ahead of him, while he was waiting for a reply. "This will not get him fired, but I am sure someone will repriman him about being careless with pass keys." His phone buzzed, "Cedar Court.. Drives older Pontiac Gram Am. That's walking distance from here. Shall we?"
Paige: She nodded and mimicked walking, levitating only a few milimeters from the ground and taking steps. Nobody would notice, unless they were paying attention, that her footsteps didn't make a sound. She also cast no shadow. "His car probably smells like piss," she growled. She seemed to have a firm dislike of her coworker for some reason. Perhaps he had been trying to call her into question. She was, after all, clearly a teenager. In makeup and with contact lenses she managed to pass for a young woman in her twenties, a prodigy from Russia, but it would not be surprising if others raised questions about her credentials when so many of them had been bucking for promotion. She was an outsider.
Doc: "We wont be in it that long.. Joy ride to the fairgrounds.. sounds like some place a group wanting a quick fix would do.. find the proximity pass key.. know that Groom does weapons.. fast easy money on the streets for untraceable weapons.. crime of opportunity."
Paige: "Alright," she said and tore the door open. It had been locked. She was wearing black gloves, of course. "Do you know how to hotwire it, or do I need to go in and steal."
Doc: Doc grins, "Watch and learn." He made to pick up a screwdriver before they left his apartment. He jammed the screwdriver into the ignition and turned. The engine started. He winked at her. "So much easier than hot wiring.."
Paige: Paige grinned evilly and got into the passenger's seat. She kept her belt unbuckled and took her gun out to make sure, for the fifth time, that it was alright.
Doc: Doc eased the car out of the drive way.. and drove down the block. "Ok.. let's see if we can find that proximity card that would get us in Groom,.." He checked the visor and was rewarded by finding it tucked in behind the mirror. "Nice." He handed Mako the card. This gets us in.. I can go into shadows easily and not be seen.. presuming you have enough mojo to as well?"
Paige: "Old idiot," she grumbled even though finding the keycard was fortunate for them. She turned the card over in her gloved hands, then sniffed it. "Yes," she whispered. "I can also lower security." That's right, he was another shadow, wasn't he? Black blood, no shadow, no reflection. Did it ever bother him? She decided not to ask. She had dragged him this far under the notion that he was supposed to be cheering up. Reminding him of things that made Paige herself depressed was probably a bad idea.
