You never know what will walk through a door

"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"
Doc: Doc held the exterior lab door open to allow the lab tech easy exit with her burden of test results. He then follows her to the company car and opens the back door for her. “Once you have delivered these and gotten proper signatures, you can call it a day. I will close up here. You can take the car home with you. Just park in a secure area.” He was rewarded with a beaming smile from the petite brunette, as he then opened the driver side door for her. “Be safe.”
Having seen her off, Doc then moved to his car to collect some files, before heading back into the lab. He had a few texts he needed to run without curious eyes peeking over his shoulder. The lab assistant was quick and intelligent but she was also too damn curious by half. He needed to keep certain things out of her purview.
Dominique: Dominique was just pulling the metal tab on the top of the Monster energy drink when her attention was called to the building bold and new in front of her. She had used the station next to it several times. but had been more interested in the abandoned building next to it. Blood thieves were her focus any time she was out on the streets. They were known to carry some rare relic that would keep her from having to be dependent on a ritual to avoid feeling like near death eating a cracker. It was the only way she could describe the low energy and the fatigue that came from more than twenty-four hours passing and someone not using their magic to boost her. She was still not comfortable with a lot of it. It was all so far from what she was in her mind. Alive, breathing and running like she had everything riding on her next move. She went from battling a monster to battling herself. Confirmation everything had changed was evident every time the coolness of her otherwise healthy looking skin was felt. that really was what got to her. It was a cold reminder she lost a fight. The tall frosty black and green can came to her lips held in a colorful hand. She swallowed the bubbling liquid slowly as her big brown eyes rolled up to the roof of the building. there was no reward of satisfying flavor in what she was consuming but it was still close to the sensations she had always known so she wouldn't give it up. Everything familiar was like a security blanket for the young woman who refused to let go to the life she had to lose to truly appreciate. A pull of her wrist brought the can back down in front of her and she stepped forward to the doors. A big building had to have many things inside and being the thief now lacking the skill she had prior to kissing a ton of cement she figured why not check it out and if there was anything worth taking she would send word to those who could collect later.
Doc: Doc took his files to his office and started charting the numbers, and running the calculations. He had the results from the blood work from the paladin. Their blood was different from a normal human’s blood. Their ability to heal was ramped up as well. And at the rate paladins had been ending up in the hospital, it was only a matter of time before someone in the hospital would notice it and bring the world’s attention to it. He needed to find a plausible and unique explanation to nip this ‘discovery’ in the bud. It was not going to be easy. Pi had helped him with Porter. But they were just one other ‘Porter’ away from exposure. He knew that some young turk of a doctor would see the military implications if the abilities could be replicated and synthesized.
Dominique: Dominique reached a free hand to the door and found it simple to walk right in. She had her back to the inside as she closed the door. Her mind went through the usual gear grinding of who was she if she was asked, what was her nature of business stepping inside this place. She felt like she was missing her calling in marketing. She could make it seem like she belonged anywhere but really she felt so much the opposite. Theater perhaps was another possibility. There was a time she could be so convincing while taking something that didnt belong to her that she was actually thanked once for while the owner handed over the keys to a pricey Rolls thinking she was taking it in for a tune up. This was different though. Now it was about survival. Hers and the paladins. End goal was extermination
Dominique: of those that did not ever belong, who came uninvited and in the end it likely would be her demise at well. Either your word meant everything or nothing. She not going to deviate from what she was called to do. The dark haired woman turned slowly to face what she stepped into. It was unmistakable. Sterile tiling was beneath her feet, lab workstations, vials and equipment. She swallowed hard still holding the can in her hand. This was not at all what she expected to find. Her eyes moved slowly from one side of the massive space to the other. No sounds were noted. No one to be seen in what seemed a functional work space. One slow step of the pink Nike on her foot followed by another left a soft squeak as she moved in further. Her head inclined and her left hand went to confirm there was a master blade where she had secured it inside a pocket on the back pack currently resting over her shoulders. (done)
Doc: Doc was running the numbers and nothing was coming close to even remotely looking plausible. The results from the basic tests, were showing high percentages in enzymes that were normally miniscule. For the moment, if it reared it’s ugly little head, he would suggest that the testing equipment was most likely at fault. He started doing some research on such equipment anomalies when the security camera at the front door was triggered. Lifting an eyebrow, he immediately thought it was his assistant coming back. Had she forgotten something? He logged into the security feed, and what he saw made him stop. (cont)
There on the screen was Minx, the ex-paladin. His eyes narrowed as he stared at the screen. What the hell was she doing here, and why? Never taking his eyes from the screen, he reached under the desk and pulled the glock he kept hidden there. He expelled the magazine and glanced briefly at it make sure it was full, snapped it back into the handgun and watched the screen again. His gut reaction was to go meet her and blow her ******* head off and send her to the shadow realm, but he forced himself to be patient and not act hastily. He laid the weapon on the desktop and watched Minx on the feed.
Dominique: Another step had her looking over a desk that seemed to be organized before it was left by the user. She knew cameras likely were in place as any lab should have so for the moment she was someone off the street stepping inside. Perhaps she was looking for employment? A college grad hitting the streets to find something to get her by until she got a real internship? That was believable. Her cool hand brought the can back to her lips and took another slow drink as she went further into the sea of aseptic surfaces. Each time her eyes went from one space to another she was greeted with more of the same items. There were a lot of people not at work. A lab of the size this one appeared to be often worked around the clock. Her steps slowed as she found she cleared the massive room to find nothing else. The place was lit up so a return visit would likely be the best plan of action. The can in her hand was empty and she slid the back pack off to the side of her shoulder, unzipped the top to deposit inside then zipped it closed. It was time to head back out. Her progression across the bright lab was uneventful. One step followed by another and she was yards from the same doors she entered.
Doc: Watching her progress through the lab, was maintained by moving the feed from one camera to another. He watched as she drank her pathetic human refreshment. How she still clung to the habits of humanity. Doc’s lip curved in a distaste, at her weakness. The frown slow gave way to a smirk, as she turned to make her way back to the entrance. She thought she could come and go as she pleased with no repercussions? She was sadly mistaken. Doc turned off the camera feeds and allowed shadows to swallow him, as he made his way to quickly to the entrance to cut her off. The thrill of chase, the urge to kill was strong. He hadn’t killed anyone in weeks. He was going to enjoy this.
Dominique: Inked hands shifted the straps over her shoulders and she was near the door to leave when she stopped thinking there had to be something that she could grab that said she was there. A closer inspection without touching anything on the white desk near the door revealed nothing. She was going to be back later. there was far more to this sudden lab appearing. It was too big to pass off as insignificant.
