The Lions Den [Open to All]

The Grand Opening Night

Posters are stamped on the dark glass windows and doors leading into the Den advertising the battle of the bands, local musicians that are playing, and event schedules. The heavy-looking black doors are pulled open, thumping music vibrating your skin and innards. The bouncer lets you in with a nod, and you are now a part of the swarm.
The odor of fresh interior could barely be smelled past the cologne, perfume, and booze on the breath of patrons. Black marble floors with an engraved lion on the floor cradled a hardwood stage outfitted with instruments and a dj console, occupied by a young fellow in shades and rings on nearly every finger. The black lights and lasers were sported tonight, for in celebration of the fresh interior, a rave was being held.
There was a private room to the left near the front of the Den and a pool table and restrooms to the right, where similar hardwood floors were lain.
Vasik, your host for this wonderful eve, eyes his guests from a reserved booth across from the stage. His bright sanguine hair glows radiant in the darkness of the club, amber eyes darting from here to there, smirking. His pale skin gives off a severe luminescence in the black lights. He wears a black button-up with slender jeans, combat boots, a tribal chain lion necklace, and steel bracelets and rings on his razor-clawed fingers. His feet are propped up on the table before him, arms cradling one human women on each side of him, gorgeous sirens to be beheld, one ginger and one Asian.
The night was young, a new beginning.

The young sandy blond had heard about the place that was on the floor above her sires place of business. It was her night off of work and she had left Arron on the boat where he would be safe. She dressed in tight fitting jeans and looking in her closet found a blue corset and her heals. Smiling at her reflection she grabbed her leather jacket and was out the door. Climbing on her bike she took off down the street and headed to the mall and the new place in the mall. She parked her bike in her spot that had her name on it. Then was in the mall and taking off her jacket and getting a few cat calls from human men. She just smiled and made her way upstairs to the place called the Lions Den. Walking into the place she tuned a few human males heads but that was her point. She was actually getting tired of being a goody goody as people called her. She walked to the bar and ordered a bloody Mary making sure the bartender knew it needed the blood to be real blood. She watched everyone around her as she looked over the place to get a feel for it.

Vasik sizes up the new arrival, not bothering to be discreet of his analysis. He leans forward, tilting his head, taking his arms off the beautiful women at his sides. He eyes the vampire's sensual curves, limber and thin. The women escorting him seem jealous, but say nothing of their master to his face. Instead, they decide to entertain themselves, kissing each other as Vasik leaves their company. He struts to the bar, boots thumping a constant beat on the floor.
He gestures to the bartender standing ready at attention and to the "bloody" mary. "On the house." They reply with a nod and carry on with the rushing orders.
He leans on the counter with one arm, facing the entrant. "Nice to see fellow kin here," he says, eyes moving slowly up and down her body, avoiding the eyes for some time. When their eyes finally meet, he huffs a slight chuckle of satisfaction. "Let me know if you, ah..." eyes travel down again, "need anything."
He snaps his fingers, and within seconds, a second glass, this time a shot glass appears in his hands, full of the liquid vitae. He inhales the drink in one gulp, and licks his flashing fangs.

Dark brown eyes took in the man as he walked over then as he said the drink was on the house. She took her drink and smiled at the man showing a bit of her fangs back. "Nice to see another of our kind as well. My name is Corin Diechi by the way and you are?" She listened when he said if there was anything she wanted she just had to ask and she had to smile at that. She did not know what else she would need but did not care either. This might just be a good night for her meeting another of her kind other than the other two outside her family she knows. She looked the guy over once before her eyes meet his again and the Dark brown hid the sweetness behind them. Yes she was a sweetheart but she did not have to show that all the time.

"Vasik, your host for this evening, and hopefully for more to come." He winked with a nefarious smile. He sat up from the counter, putting him in close quarters with Corin. The killer looked down at her, for in his strength he had grown a couple of inches recently as most killers do.
"Just call on me if you need something. I'll be around." He wedged his way around her, eyeing her bare shoulders as he made his way towards the door. Her hair dangled so softly down, attempting to cover just enough flesh to make it seem appropriate but failing. The hair tantalized him more, taunting him. Still, he kept his wits about him, for this was his opening night. There were plenty more like them to arrive, he was sure of it. He met with the bouncer at the door to greet more as he eyed the corseted vampire from time to time, just as the tempo of the music heightened and the crowds jumped and swayed in waves.

Most of his nights were silent and empty lately; apathy was his frequent visitor and doing anything more than quenching his unquenchable thirst was seen as laborious and irritating. He held a moment of thought for his friend Mr Ripper everyday as though it had become a religious practice. Upon the very moment of awakening, he sat and meditated, sending good vibes in the other Vampire’s direction, hoping and praying that he was protected and inspired. Though the man needed little motivating and shielding, Myk thought, at least the gesture might be appreciated.

Another habit Myk had stumbled upon was the man Vasik – he hadn’t a nickname for this one yet. They would see one another frequently enough, exchange items, advice, bodily fluids, but nothing so substantial. The casual acquaintances were unlikely to ever do so either. Despite Vasik’s pledge to conquer him, Myk just put it aside as the talk of one’s ego and tried to think nothing more about it. But of course he failed at that, he couldn’t stop himself from thinking. His mind was always racing, even in his sleep, sometimes so vividly that it felt as though he never slept. And when he started thinking, his conscious often drifted to the vathia where the Crownet was, where most of his spectrum stalking took place. It was there that he’d seen the invitation to The Lion’s Den; Vasik’s personal establishment.

“How quaint,” he said, a smile playing on his red-stained lips. “Couldn’t hurt to stalk in person I suppose.”

Rising from his place, the spot just inside the sewer entrance that his presence had almost stained with its frequent use, Myk crawled his way onto the streets and headed to the 8th Dimension Mall. He hadn’t been that way for a while, fortunately, it wasn’t a long journey; he only really lost his bearings once he was inside the mall itself. After all the people, the sights, the sounds, the smells, and the temporal lag which caused him to sometimes, and randomly, flicker in and out of existence, Myk felt very much like the steel ball in a well-assaulted Pinball machine. He stopped and closed his eyes, recuperating his senses and consulting the Crownet for directions so he could make a bee-line to the destination and quit this fooling around. Success! He found it quickly and entered.

Although it may have been opening night, the place was efficiently crowded with folks that looked to be regular customers. They seemed familiar with the setting, though perhaps their familiarity, which Myk took from their carefree demeanours, was really more to do with their confidence and experience in bars and clubs. He had a little experience of his own, but one could always fake confidence. He strode casually over to the area of elevated wood, the stage, where a few musicians were making a jolly good tune together. His head canted intuitively to the left and he stared at them lifelessly for a good two minutes before the song came to its end and he was seemingly released from the enchantment. He smiled then and made his way over to a corner – a place out of immediate notice, but providing full surveillance.

Vasik was too easy to spot and Myk chuckled manically, though somewhat reservedly, at the sight. He looked like such a pimp, it was terribly, fascinatingly tacky. He hoped he wasn’t as easy to spot as the other Vampire had been; he’d kept his appearance rather mild tonight with only red lipstick and a minimal amount of porcelain foundation, mascara and fake eyelashes. He’d even dressed quietly; worn denim jeans, a black vest shirt, a studded leather belt, combat boots. He hoped he could stay incognito this whole night long; stalking was no good if your victim knew you were there.

She just rolled her eyes at the man that was trying to be a smooth talker though he was cute and she did make the two bimbos next to him jealous. Maybe that was because she was the hottest thing in this bar at the moment. She sipped her drink and watched the man as he moved around the room. Suddenly it hit her a smell she has smelled only in her grandsires home and someeone that was family. She smiled softly for this was one she had yet to fully meet just knew him from what he typed on the family crow as well as the smell from the house. This would be fun to see if he would recognize her scent as well as the fact that she was family. As she sat there the wraith that always talked to her spoke in her ear "You know you need to try and kill something. It is against your nature but it would be worth it. Maybe kill the next time you go feed and not on blasted animals." She smirked at the words the Wraith was right she needed to get out of the goody goody routine but that was going to be hard to do seeing as how that is how she was brought up. She just sat there and sipped her drink sending out a telepathic touch to Myk seeing if he would even notice it.

The incubus strode around the club, his animalistic sense of smell catching a brief whiff of that familiar smell. It smelled like lavender, gun oil, and sexual desire. Vasik did not need to meet eyes with the boy to know that he was here, Myk, his prize-to-be. He was thankful for them to be together in his element for once. Perhaps this would entice the young man into more "ventures" with him.
He slipped into his private room for a brief moment, checking on the Den's mascot, Lelu. She was a gorgeous, young calico kitten, locked away for the night in the bulletproof glass wall with all of her amenities. He could see through the other side of her cage, through the dark glass the pulsating crowd while the feline's motor purred loudly to the beat, bumping her head against the glass where Vasik's claw touched it. It was too dangerous for him to keep her out during hours, for he knew the state of kittens in the vampire world was grim, and he made enemies quite easily.
After the relief of a brief check-up, he locked the door behind him and returned to the party. Things were beginning to slow down a bit. Possibly, he should perform a little song for the crowd? He did have the gift of a majestic siren, powerful enough to sway crowds as he did on hunts before.
Finally, he saw him there, just in the corner of the room. He was a hermit to the crowd, glowing eyes dancing back and forth. Vasik wanted Myk to join in the fun. Why? He wanted to see him intoxicated with the atmosphere, and himself.
When their eyes met, he gave him a sly little wink and hopped up on the stage as soon as the song had died. He took the standing mic in one hand and raised his other to calm the crowd...
"WELCOME TO THE LIONS DEN!!"
The crowd let out a light cheer, ending in a high-pitched man's hoot and hollar.
"Thanks mate. Give that man a drink!"
A faint, muffled, excited "ALRIGHT!!!" could be heard in the corner where the hollar originated.
"I want to thank you all for coming out tonight. But I'd like to ask you to turn your attention to a drop-dead-gorgeous patron in the back corner over there." He pointed to Myk, taunting at his lack of privacy. No, you can't hide from me, he thought to himself.
"Hope you don't mind if we suspend this rave for a little rock. This song... is for you."
The song began slow, accenting Vasik's mid and high ranges, rich in tone, crackling in seductive trills at the end of every other line. In a sudden breath, the tempo picked up as did his excitement. His body gyrated with the music, and during the guitarist's solo, Vasik began to dance with the microphone, as if the Lions Den were converted into a gentleman's club, the stand his pole, the stage his catwalk. Then, he ripped the mic off its stand, screaming into it with a thick, well-coordinated range of tones. The passion in his singing could be tasted as sweat dripped from his brow, dancing all over the stage, touching hands with the crowd. The song climaxed and ended with a bang.
He lifted his hands out, absorbing the praise of the crowd, panting with excitement and the high of admiration. Eyes closed, he mumbled into the microphone, "thank you very much," and leaped off the stage, crowd parting as he strut towards Myk.

“Dammit…”

When pewter clashed with amber, Myk turned his head and cursed colourfully to himself. The irony was smarting; when he tried for attention, the world ignored him and when he wished to go unnoticed, a freaking spotlight was forced down on him. Vasik had mounted the stage and directed the world to him. He cowered somewhat under those bright lights and the notice of the crowd; the white of his hair glowing ethereally, though not so much as to make him actually disappear. Insecurity made him consider the tome in his pocket, the one the Lady had given him, the one that would teleport him out of there and onto the Ivory Tower’s rooftop garden, but sensibility brought him out of it. ’At least wait a moment, you can’t let the humans see you,’ it said.

With effort, he forced his sights from the floor and back up to those amber eyes. He couldn’t make his outrage anymore obvious; if he had a tail, it would twitch like his eyebrows. He was growling to himself, but he couldn’t hear it; the back of his throat vibrated vehemently and vainly as the Rock God performed his greatest Ballard. Myk slipped between the energised people, their bodies hot and dripping; he was heading toward the bar, he’d had a change of heart. He wasn’t exactly playing Hide and Seek, but if Vasik struggled even for a moment to find him now, he’d be a little happier. He sat himself beside another Vampire, though didn’t regard her too much right away – he was much more concerned with himself you see.

“Men are a pain in the arse,” he growled just loud enough for her to hear. It was a declaration that didn’t necessarily need a rebuttal, but as he regarded her at last, he smiled to himself; it wasn’t likely that she’d disagree with him anyway.

He recognised her; she had been at the mercy of Vasik’s flirting earlier. It was cute how she evaded him, though Myk always wondered if this was just a woman’s way of playing hard to get. Frankly, the lines between attraction and revulsion were often blurred to him, though maybe what was actually blurred were the distinctions between reality and fantasy. Perhaps he had been watching a few too many movies, perhaps it was just harder to tell these nights. Nevertheless, Myk passed her one of his gentle smiles, the kind that didn’t look all too creepy despite the make-up, but instead of saying anything, he simply sat there.

He could have ordered a drink when the bartender asked some moments later, but he politely declined; “I think it best I not deteriorate any further, thank you.”

Corin heard his words and just nodded as she sipped her drink. She knew Myk had yet to figure her out but that was okay she knew he was family and that was a good thing. Family was something she loved. She ignored the wraith that was whispering to her wondering how she got a wraith that was a killer to follow her around this was weird then again the ghost that talked to her at times where all bad. She wondered how she could always pull in the killers and murders to her. She just shook it off. Looking over at Myk she smiles at him "Don't like the spot light. Don't blame you it is one thing I would not be seen in. Men are a pain in the *** I should know I was hurt by one and do not want that to happen ever again. By the way my name is Corin." She sips her drink again and sends out another light telepathic touch to him to see if he notices it.
