New Friends Embitter Old Hopes (Roderic)

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Roderic: I needed some things. I began to realize what buildings had what in them more or less and while part of me hated Phoenix because she was the first and had made the few individuals I like vampires, even if through association of one of her's, I still wanted to be in her good graces. I was beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with me since becoming a vampire. She liked nuts and bolts. For what? I didn't know, and didn't ask. But I wanted to get her more for whatever reason. So, I was skimming a few factories, trying to find her some, while plotting her death at the same time. Some would say it was an impossible task, but they never met me.
Saige: Her hands trembled out of excitement and adrenaline as she slid into the foremans office. Spotting a stark white box dead center of the desk, she got curious and moved to it, slipping a finger under the tape to open it carefully. She slipped her hand in and pulled out a small copper pipe, beaming at it. Nix liked those very much. She giggled incredibly softly, not trying to draw attention to herself as she turned around and tapped her flashlight on to gently illuminate the foremans office. She held the copper pipe tightly with her other, making sure not to cause it to melt as she had the last one on accident with her power. Moving to the door she slid out it silently into the dark dimly lit warehouse.
Roderic: I wasn't having much luck. Sure, I had found some chemicals, but I didn't need those. I needed other things that were hard to come by for whatever reason. I left the chemicals there and headed further inside the building, beckoning the shadows to me as I hear faint footsteps a few feet away. As they get closer, I try and move in a different direction, trying to "observe" what I could about the steps. They were light and quick, which made me think it was a female. I'd find out soon enough, as the steps kept coming my way, regardless of me wanting to avoid them.
Saige: Her light bobbed against the floor in front of her, the clumsy girl watching where she was going as she had a slight bounce to her step. The pipe would make Nix happy, would make her gransire smile for a change, and that made Saige happy just thinking about it. She never liked anyone in her family to be sad, to look sad or exhibit the emotion. In her book, that just wasnt okay. They all had each other, what was there to be sad about?! She giggled at the thought of the nonesensical emotion and rounded a corner, only to trip as her foot caught something and she went sprawling across the floor. "AhhOww." She said, pushing herself up and moving a hand to a scraped knee. The copper pipe had gone rolling noisily across he floor along with her flashlight, and Saige was sure that the guards in the building had heard it clanging and would come to investigate. She shuddered, remembering the last time she had been caught off guard by a guard, ending in death. "What did I trip on?" She wondered aloud, squinting to try to see what it was.
Roderic: Man. What in the hell did I just stumble on? So much for being subtle? This woman was about to get a one way ticket to jail and no way in hell was I going to be anywhere near here. I see the pipe rolling around and I want it. If she was just going to be letting it roll around on the ground and not take care of it, then she didn't need it. I bend down to pick it up and the shadows drop from around me. I hated when that happened, but I was still sort of figuring out my vampire powers. "****." I grumble as the lights come on above our head and two more sets of steps are heard. Male and they were fast. Heavy. They were on a job or pissed. "Better pick your *** up and get going." I secure the pipe under my armpit, take a few steps back and intend on leaving her there.
Saige: The lights came on and she gasped, staring at the male who had her pipe in his hand. She blinked, her mouth hanging slightly ajar as her blue hues dashed around. Where had he come from?! It was like he had materialized out of thin air! "Woah..." She muttered, head canting to the side as he told her to get up and get going. She blinked again, hearing the footsteps too as her head snapped to the side to stare for a moment at the corner she had just rounded. The guards were coming, that much was obvious, and it was her fault. She frowned, stuttering softly as she stood and dusted herself off at the same time, quickly. "I-I-I'm s-s-sorry." She studied him more closely then, even as he backed up. She then gasped, her grin returning to her face as she forgot all about the fact that he had just janked the pipe she had intended to use to get Nix to smile. "I know you!" She moved next to him, glancing behind her as she slid her arm to loop it in his and pull him along towards the exit of the warehouse. "Yes, lets get going. I dont need a repeat."
Roderic: Know me? She knew me? What did she know about me? It didn't matter. She was a possible threat to me and my work. I lifted the pipe in my hand, ready to bludgen her to death, when she looped her arm in mine and started dragging me with her. Good idea. Get away from security and then kill her. She really wasn't the brightest bulb in the box, was she? Her arm would look good on my new project. They were strong.
Saige: He went with her willingly, so she didnt have to tug too hard to assure that they quickly duck behind an isle and continue on towards the exit. She spoke in a hushed yet excited voice. "You're Nix's childe, right? Rod... Roderic?" She grinned, "I've stolen from you before... before I knew you were family. Im Saige, Juliets childe." She introduced, reaching with her other hand to pat his arm looped in hers and giving him a genuinely warm smile. She stopped abruptly then, giving a light gasp. "What am I doing? I can just teleport us to the Altaire apartment." She giggled and closed her eyes, not letting him slip from her grip as she did just that, landing them just inside the door of the communal apartment as she slipped her arm free of his and sighed, moving to slip her shoes off next to the door mat and everyone else's spare pairs. "Home sweet home."
Roderic: Nix. Phoenix. She knew Phoenix. That seemed to be about it. And my name. I nodded my head. " 'Ric, is what I go by, yeah." She talks about us being family, but I haven't really seen much or talked to any of them besides Juliet, who is her sire or whatever they're called. "Where?" I ask just as we're moved to some place I've never been before. I immediately dislike it. I want to go to my cave. "Why are we here?" I put the pipe at the side to the side of my body, hoping she would forget about it.
Saige: "Ric it is then!" She giggled softly and nodded, then splayed her hands to each side as if to show off the place she called home along with the other Altaires that still called it home. "This is home for most of the Altaire." She smiled warmly, warm ocean blue hues only growing a tad bit warmer and she pointed to the picture to the left of the door that was Nix in all her red headed glory. "Grandsire. She likes the copper pipes like the one you have there, thanks for picking that up. Would you mind giving it to her for me?" She ased lightly, her tone soft and quiet like normal.
Roderic: "I'm dead." I remind her as I check the place out and shake my head. "Am I supposed to be here? She hasn't really told me about this place, or told me anything at all, come to think about it." I move inside the place, even though I seem weary to do it. I'm not, but I'm working on my social cues and all that. "We're not family. We just had unfortunate events happen to us by the same person." I move to a couch and sit. I don't think I want to be here, but this is one of her places. I want to absorb the surroundings as much as possible, for whatever reason. I'm not sure why, but being here, close to her makes me think things I normally wouldn't.
Saige: He said he was dead, and she frowned. "Well yes, but there are blood packs in the fridge I could warm up?" She offered again, warm blue hues glancing from him to the floor then back up to his face. He is handsome, and taller than she is, and she giggles lightly before moving to sit on the couch yet giving him his space. She didnt want to scare him off, she wanted his company. She shook her head at his words. "Juliet saved me. If she hadnt turned me, I would have died." She informed, instantly sticking up for her sire whom she held dear to her heart. "She took me here the first night, its a place I've called home since my turning. There are spare beds in the back, you could stay here too I'm sure of it."
Roderic: Blood packs that she could warm up? Where was the excitement in that? "I already fed. Sort of." I don't go in to details, but my business was my business. I listen to her prattle on about Juliet, who isn't all that bad, but being saved seemed a bit ove the top. I resist saying something about nature taking its course, mostly because I don't want to lose my job with Juliet. It offers me a lot. "I've got my cave. You know that." I say. "Does Phoenix stay here?"
Saige: "Oh right, the cave." She glanced off to the side. How uninhabitable, she thought, giving a light nod not to discourage the fact that it was his. If thats what he liked, and where he considered home, then she wouldnt judge him for that. She shrugged lightly, "Sure, sometimes she does. Everyone has a bed here. No one is turned away." Tucking one ankle under the other, she nodded with her words to him as if to reassure herself of that fact. "I did my best to decorate it, so that it was a little more homey. Spent a lot of money but thats okay, I still have lots left over and I make lots durring the week." She grinned. "How are you acclimating Ric?"
Roderic: The first was here. Sometimes. I felt better about that and even felt my posture settle. "You decorated this place?" I look around again before I think on her question. "To what?" I wasn't sure what she meant. I'd been a vampire for a while now because my task had failed. "I was a blood thief before. Not much different. Minus the sun thing." I shrug my shoulders, my eyes back on her, narrowing a little. "Are all vampires like you?" Happy go lucky-was what I was thinking, but didn't say. That didn't seem like a good thing to say. Not when I was trying to find Phoenix after all.
Saige: "Mhm!" She smiled, rocking a bit in her seat before nodding and then shrugging once more. "To everything? To anything? To the family?" She asked her broad question, then tipped her head to the side curiously. A blood thief... how interesting, she thought. "Wow, so you like, bought blood from vampires and stuff? That sounds so dangerous!" She looked genuinely concerned, then furrowed her brows at his question. "Like me? Well I fall asleep the moment the sun rises, and I can even see spirits and ghost that like to beg me to help them constantly. Not many others have exhibited that quality? So no?"
Saige: She sighed and pointed to the far corner, "There's an old man there," Her finger slid to the wall next to it, "A teenaged girl there," and again it moved to the seat next to him, "And a young boy sitting right next to you. They are all wanting me to help them but I do not know how. Its rather sad, I feel bad for them. Like they cant cross over, or up, or whatever it is that souls do to find peace."
Roderic: I laugh and shake my head. "No, I took it." I needed their blood and so I took it. I felt no remorse in that, or cared. "You can see dead people?" I look around, not real sure I buy it. "They just hang around?" My gaze falls to where the boy might be. I didn't kill kids, that was beyond fucked up, so if he story was true, I knew he wasn't hanging around me because I'd done him in. "Maybe there's nothing to cross over to." I say, as I hopefully burst that little bubble of hope for her. I hate that she's so damn happy and hopeful. I want to get rid of those things in her life.
Saige: She nearly facepalmed. A thief. Duh. He stole what he needed. At least, she asssumed he needed it. Why else would someone do something so incredibly dangerous? Saige couldnt fathom doing something so dangerous like that. She rarely fed from humans as is - sticking to the contriband blood packs and the rats in the sewers when she happened to be down there with Velia because the woman had summoned her in case Saige had yet again managed to pass out outside and was potentially going to get burned again. Saige knew she was lucky to have Velia. "I can. And they do." She blinked then, soft blues staring at Ric. Was he always this negative? Saige shook her head.
Saige: "Im sure there is something. I think life itself isnt finite to a physical form."
Roderic: Yeah. I was going to burst that little bubble of hers. One night. Maybe not tonight. "So, what's the deal with being a vampire? Seems the city has a lot of them. You been one long? Know where I can find Phoenix right now? I've got some things for her." I sit back in the couch, thinking about all the fun I could have with her. "Do you think all people that are killed become ghosts?" Now, wouldn't that be interesting?
Saige: She giggled at his barrage of questions. He was inquizitive, and she found that she rather liked it. "Boy you sure do like asking questions Mr. Ric. Its a good think I dont mind at all answering them." She giggled lightly again, her shoulders raising softly in the action before she clasped her hands together and placed them gently in her lap. "I find that being a vampire had opened many doors for me as a person. Ive only been turned a couple months, but you are right - it seems the city does have a lot of them." She bit into her lower lip idly in thought for a moment, then smiled warmly at him. "I think people that have unfinished business stay in this realm for some reason or another, yes."
Roderic: Unfinished business. Doesn't everyone have unfinished business, unless they plan on dying? It wasn't like I didn't have **** to do every day, that sometimes didn't get done because I got busy or side tracked. Poor Saige. She was so, naive. I think that was the word I was looking for. It was almost painful to hear it oozing from her. I grab my Red's out of my coat pocket, fish for the plastic lighter and light one up. "Knowledge is power. Or something like it." I comment about me asking a lot of questions. "Have any idea who the oldest vampire is in the city? Thought it was Phoenix, but Juliet sort of burst that bubble." I would kill the first vampire and be free of this predicament I found myself in.
Saige: Saige tilted her head to the side slightly at his remark. "Oh yes, Knowledge is power, but there are a lot of people out there who fear knowledge too Mr. Ric." She watched as he pulled a pack of nasty cigarettes from his pocket and flipped the flame to the lighter on in order to light one up. What a nasty habit. She scrunched her nose to show her distaste, but she didnt say anything to those regards. It was his life, his body, and as far as Nix was concerned, this could be his place too if he wanted it to be. So she wouldnt stop him. Her face relaxed a bit as she straightened her head upright and shook it no. "Im truly sorry I dont know but I do have a couple powers that might be able to help... Juliet does too I believe. Seeker?"
Roderic: "What?" I ask, looking at her like she just spoke to me in Arabic or something. "Powers can help you find the first vampire?" Interesting. I would want to get those powers, if I could. I wonder if I could get them by biting on vampires, as a vampire, or if that was just a blood thief thing. Something to think on later. "Just Ric. Or Roderic. Mr. is a little formal for my taste." I do that smiling thing again, because it seems apt for the timing. "So what sort of things can you do? Can you walk on water too, like me?"
Saige: He smiled, and she smiled right back. "Oh! Uhm..." She thought about it for a moment. What all could she do? "I can lure humans, no matter where I am... that one helps tremendously. I can also concentrate and tell you what the surroundings look like of someone as if I were looking down on them from above. Im not sure how it works but I can also track someone using their aura." She brought a hand up to put a curved knuckle to her lips, then raised both brows and grinned. "I can also teleport, but you knew that one already... and I can blind people with my touch, and heal any wound once a day. Of course I dont really know much about how any of them work just yet... like I said, im still pretty new at all this."
Roderic: I struck gold with Saige. She didn't know it, but I had. She could lure humans, another way of saying, she could bring me victims. And she could find out where people were, for those that were too damn stubborn to come when she did her power stuff. Or people I need to find right away, for whatever reason. I smile and this time, it's a real one. "Those are quite the vampire talents." I say as I enjoy my cigarette a little bit. "You can lure anyone, anywhere? Even in this apartment?" I look at her skeptically.
Saige: She beamed. She liked being praised, and her facial expression showed it. She idly thought how glad she was to have control over her fangs - remembering that first time meeting with Velia and having them accidentally come out in her excitement, and in public none the less. "Yep!" She liked that power. All she had to do was concentrate and she could get a human to come to her wherever she was, whenever she needed one. "Anytime, anywhere." Though it would never be durring the day for her - the sun always made her pass out durring the daylight hours. She was never awake durring those hours. And once it had even cost her burnt skin, sleeping in an alley she had happened to be passing through as the sun came up.
Roderic: I needed some things. I began to realize what buildings had what in them more or less and while part of me hated Phoenix because she was the first and had made the few individuals I like vampires, even if through association of one of her's, I still wanted to be in her good graces. I would kill the first vampire and be free of this predicament I found myself in.
