Who needs medicine? (CharlotteC, Cherry Worthington.)

Cordelia had been left in the hospital alone during the daylight, she didn't expect Charlie to stay permanently, the woman had work.. or whatever it was the adult did during the nights that made her so tired during the day, Cordy had tried to wake the woman a few times and it was like poking a corpse with a stick, do it as much as you want. It won't move. Without cartoons or a game console, or even her basic colouring book, Cordy became restless and began annoying doctors, well.. trying to, her current medical state had her stuck in bed barely able to do much but whimper and make funny noises when she breathed.
Of course her most recent scare was to blame for this, after a spell in the river and several unscheduled outings into the harsh winter air, the little girl had developed a chest infection, which in turn, became Pneumonia. She'd tried to endure it at home thinking it was little more than a bad cold, but now it was too far gone and she was stuck in a bed at the mercy of the medical staff in Bullwood hospital. Back and forth the doctors went, never staying for long, just enough to change the IV and do more tests, asking her questions, poking and prodding, trying different medicines until they resorted to a body scan, the results were less than pleasing and within an hour Cordelia had been moved to a much more private room with a comfier larger bed and three large pillows, they'd even brought her teddy along too.
She didn't know why they had moved her, or why they were treating her so gently, or even why the nurses had begun paying more attention to her, staying longer, reading to her, trying to play games with her before she'd pass out on them. It was during one of her little naps that the doctors took the time to ring the woman who'd brought her in. The sun still barely in the sky and all they got was the answer machine so left a simple yet urgent message requesting Charlie come into the hospital as soon as she could.

Once the sun had sunk below the horizon it was like someone had turned on a light switch for Charlie, one minute she was literally dead to the world the next she was sitting up in bed, aware of the fact that her phone was giving off the shrill it does when she has messages. She grabbed her phone and looked at it, the number was one she didn't recognize but it had called several times. That could only mean one thing. The hospital. Then her phone started to ring again, this time it was Rhett, he was back at the Hospital where she had told him to stay, but they wouldn't allow him to stay with Cordy because unlike what she had told the doctors she was family, they didn't see him as such. He told her what she already had started to fear. Hanging up on him, she let her Voice mail play as she got dressed.
Yup, it was going down and it was tearing at her soul. She had warned Cherry this could happen, and now it was. However, Cherry hadn't answered her on what her decision was. She was still getting ready at an accelerated pace as she told her phone to call Cherry. She too only got a machine.
"Get to the hospital ASAP my friend, I'll meet you there." She said into the phone before hanging up and grabbing her keys. She ran down to get into her car and hauled buns to the hospital. She could tell by what she was seeing in the doctor's face that it wasn't just serious, it was life or death. Charlie would not let this little girl go. Nope. Cordy was her daughter as far as she was concerned now, even if Cherry was her biological sister and had more of a claim on her. She sighed as she blew passed the doctors and moved into Cordy's new room, Rhett a step behind her where he had been since she entered the hospital.
"Hey Little one, How are you feeling tonight?" She asked as she walked in, seeing the nurses that were taking care of her. This was going to make things a little more difficult. She looked over her shoulder to Rhett and he knew what she wanted, he would wait for Cherry and then lead her in. Then Cherry and her could do some suggestive talking to get the nurses and doctors to get lost. From there the three of them would have some talking to do. She just hoped that this night had a slightly happier ending than what the doctors had planned.

Her phone was not working. Whipping it at the wall she didnt run she teleported to the side on the hospital building. Running in she grabbed a nurse. "Young girl, Cordelia. Where is she?" The nurse only pointed down the hall as she wiped a tear away. Sprinting she slid and fell. Of course she would fall. Grumbling she got up and ran into the room. Running to Cordy and Charlie she smelled death on her little sister and almost broke down in front of her.
Seeing her like this the only she could do was blame herself. She did the what if's and hung her head in shame. Thinking how she needed to come up with an answer she looked at Charlie. It had only been a couple days since they talked but the time flew by and still she had no answer for her friend. All she could think about was the angry mob if Charlie turned her and how even if she was turned her little sister life would be over. A mental image of Frankie came rushing back as she remembered when the girl was turned.
Smiling at Cordy she sat down next to her. Thinking so much has happened in the couple months she had found her and now she was going through a life changing event and the child didnt even know it. "Sup, missed you. Later I need a phone. You want to help me pick it out?" She spoke as if everything was normal even though she knew it wasnt.

Naturally the doctors surrounding Cordelia moved aside once Charlie arrived, this woman was listed as the kid's mother so got priority, gently shaking the child awake before stepping back far enough to give some space, but still close by incase anything happened, and so they could keep tabs on Cordelia's machines. Opening her eyes but a fraction, she spied Charlie and smiled weakly, trying to sit up was a great strain and the moment she moved, the nurses put her right back down again and placed a gentle hand on Charlie's arm before whispering to the woman.
''We've done all we can for your daughter to make her as comfortable as possible. We'll give you some time alone.''
The nurse shot a warm smile back to Cordelia and ushered the other medical staff from the room, about to close the door when Cherry burst through, the nurses grumbled and reminded the younger woman that Cordy was sick and needed peace, and that friend's visiting hours weren't for another hour. But since they doubted Cordelia would last even the night, they allowed it on mercy grounds.
Cordelia coughed violently, the pain it caused was evident on her face as she pulled her teddy closer, she didn't know she was on the way out, she didn't even know how bad it was. All she wanted to do was go home, Rhett had been in and out when nurses weren't looking, trying to keep the sick girl company as best he could but now Charlie was here and Rhett could visit freely. Of course he knew the extent, he'd been stuck in the hospital all day watching Cordelia gradually grow worse through a glass screen, he told Charlie and now Cherry about her breathing problems, how her little chest would rise and fall with each passing second and the coughing fits that only seemed to exacerbate things. Cordelia turned her head to face Charlie and weakly thumped at her chest.
''Mommy.. it hurts..''

Charlie glanced at the nurse as the woman placed her hand on her arm and then gave a sad sigh at the woman's words. She could tell by the way the doctors had been huddled around her, the way the nurses all stood about and then when she entered started to clear out. That was one little saving grace, they were leaving. Charlie moved over to the girl and took up her little hand, gently rubbing her fingers so that she didn't touch the IV.
Then the door busted open and Charlie and Rhett both responded before they saw Cherry. However, the fact that they let her in really spoke about how bad off Cordy was. Charlie frowned and then gave the littler girl's fingers a gentle, reassuring squeeze. Her eyes glanced to Cherry wondering what she would say with what she was thinking about, but instead of giving away anything like that, she was talking about a phone. That made Charlie sigh again, though this time, it was clear that it was mildly annoyed. She loved her friend, she did, but really? The girl, her sister, was dying and she was asking about a phone?
Cordy's coughing and soft words drew her attention away from her friend. Charlie gently ran her free hand through the girl's hair and she nodded very softly. "I know little one I know." Then her eyes lifted to Cherry again "Have you thought about what I talked about with you hun?" She asked in a voice quiet enough that Cordy wouldn't be able to make it out, but Cherry would. At this point though, Charlie wasn't going to care what her answer was, and to hell with what other vampires would think when it came to turning this little doll.
She was too sweet, too shy to be a danger to anyone, and Charlie, though lord knew she didn't know it all about being a vampire, knew enough that she hoped she could talk the girl through anything that would keep her safe from the other vampires. And if not, Charlie would gladly meet the SR again to protect her from the vampires. She sighed a little more and then leaned down to place a soft kiss on the girl's forehead.
**** the thoughts of other vampires, Charlie would not let Cordy die.

Cherry didnt listen to the nurse she blew her off as they didnt know who she was. Eyes fell to her sister as she heard Charlie words, she knew it wouldnt be long before her sister passed and she knew she needed to make a decision. Selfish she just stared at Cordy and took in her beauty and wondered what she would look like when she got older. These things ran through her mind then the fact she was dying. She didn't want her to suffer so eyes looking at Charlie she just nodded.
Holding her hand she didnt say anything she just mourned her sister in silence. This life she was about to be given was going to be the hardest thing next to loosing her adoptive family. Forcing a smile she acted like nothing was the matter. This was how she grieved. She didnt care if no one understood and also didnt care if they gave her an attitude. Her life was all about seeing death and she figured she would smile rather than looking dead. That was her other option just feeling dead and hiding in her house.

She smiled as her fingers were squeezed, not noticing Cherry was even there until her other hand was taken by her sister, a discovery she'd only learnt about in passing, never really having the chance to sit down and really discuss it. And now she probably wouldn't get that chance. Glad that the sibling was there though as it meant she had her family again, after losing the Adoptive human parents to the Quarantine incident, Charlie had stepped up for some unknown reason, and Cherry was still as caring as ever, in her own weird little way.
Cordelia's eyes shut tightly as she coughed and whined in pain, accidentally letting go of her Rabbit teddy, the pink stuffed animal fell from her grip and rolled off the bed with a soft and very faint thump as it bounced on the cold tiled floor. Her initial reaction was one of shock which slowly became the typical look of a child who'd just lost something they couldn't live without.
''M.. Mommy.. the nice lady said I'd see my old mommy again.. She said I can take Mr Bunny but he fell down.''
Her voice was weak and quiet, little more than a whisper as she tried to move, she didn't want to leave her teddy behind! However when she realised she wasn't going anywhere, she couldn't even move far enough to see over the edge of the bed, she whimpered faintly and began silently crying. Not out of pain though, or because she wanted her teddy, well, that was part of the reason.
''Mommy I'm scared..''

Charlie watched the two of them in silence, this was probably going to be one of the biggest things she did 'against' the vampire rules, but at this moment, she didn't give the slightest bit of a rats ***. She wouldn't let this girl go, and when she picked up Cherry's nod, she let out a slow breath, at least there was one vampire that wouldn't be cross at her for what she was planning to do. Then Cordy began to speak and cough again, calling her attention. Well the nurse was half right, she would be bringing her bunny with her. But the rest of what the nurse had told her, that part wasn't going to happen not on her watch.
When the bunny fell to the floor, her instinct was to reach down and get it, but then Cordy whispered about how she was scared and Charlie froze for a moment. However, thankfully, Rhett jumped in to save the day, moving over to pick up the toy as Charlie reached out to take it from him. She gently placed the bunny back in her reach and let go of her hand to reach up and sooth the girl as best she could, giving her a little inspiring boost as she did so. "I know you are little one, but you don't need to be. I'm not going to let anything happen to you." She whispered to the girl before kissing her on her forehead and giving her a tender smile.
Then Charlie glanced back over to Rhett, he nodded and moved over to the door, closing it as well as any other way to see into the room and moving to use his body to block the door. Then Charlie glanced over at the system that Cordy was plugged into and began going over the system. She knew that Cherry could keep Cordy preoccupied as she did this tedious job of undoing all the alarms that were set in place by the nurses so that when it came to be time, Cordy could die and turn without tipping off the nurses that she was doing so. This was going to be the real trick to saving the little one, not the saving part itself, but the keeping the nurses from figuring out the whys of it.

Motioning to Cordy she distracted her by singing a song her mother used to when she was young. Using her shadow powers she made it so Cordy couldn't see what was going on, only thing she could focus on was her and her voice. After singing to her she took her hair and started braiding it and talked about how she thought about her Christmas and all the toys she got.
