Dawning - Part One [Liam Goodyrke]

When the man’s words ended and an impenetrable silence blossomed, Myk drew out of the telepathic conversation with a sigh. The man had a habit of vanishing, but Myk excused him the behaviour on account of himself being a complete sap. Just why did he have these odd affections for the man anyway? It’s not like they knew each other at all, not like the man would be remotely interested in returning those affections. After all, he wasn’t prone to bend that way and recently, Myk had even learned that there was a woman in his life.

“Che puttana,” he growled.

It somehow seemed wrong to curse in English, which was a rather ridiculous notion. The words echoed solemnly off the dank walls of the catacombs as if they were directed at him. He frowned and decided that he missed the clean night air all of a sudden and made his way through the sewers to climb back out. Those stupid ******* government pawns had blocked the Mausoleum exit after all…
“You could ask Chad or Silver about it. They were around when it happened.”
A vague reminder of the man’s advice chimed in his head as the crisp air sated his lungs. Silver, he debated with himself, that was how they referred to Liam, wasn’t it? He liked Liam, though was remotely intimidated by him. He had Alpha Dog written all over him and Myk was still just some insolent pup.

“Still,” he said and hummed a soft tune. “He wouldn’t punish me for merely asking him about it… I don’t think so... I don’t think so… But maybe I shall work into his favours first. He will learn to like me and won’t punish me then!”

The tips of his fingers bounced swiftly off one another – a maniacal applause for his wit and cunning. Myk believed he wasn’t so intolerable, so infuriating when he behaved. He could behave for this, he could be on his best behaviour ever!

“Good evening, Liam.” Myk’s thoughts were directly beamed into the older Vampire’s head. “Sorry to disturb you, but might you have some time to, uh… hang out? It would be… nice… to get to know you.”

He chided himself immediately. Nice? That was a terrible word! Hang out? What the hell was that?! He really should have planned this better. Ah well, spilt milk and all that. The offer was out there, he just had to wait and see if Liam would take the bait.

Things seemed to be going well, Liam thought to himself. Granted he had lost Dulce the night Tytonidae had killed him, and Temperance seemed to be missing again, but Liam had been able to develop some kind of relationship with Gambat, though not much of one yet, and even Kira was finally spending time with him, though there did still seem a little awkwardness, but he may just be imagining it. Drusilla and David he still had to meet really, though he was sure from the little bits he had heard so far about David, Liam would likely want to kill him on sight. That thought made Liam smirk a little to himself.

Then there was Myk, the only childe of Temperance. He had only recently found the man, though had known of him for a long time, it was simply a matter of Temperance had never introduced them to one another. They had spoken, Liam and Myk, at least twice, and he wanted more, wanted to form a stronger bond with all of them.

It was while he was thinking about this that Myk's message entered his mind, smirking to himself at the coincidence of the timing. “I would be my pleasure Myk” Liam responded immediately and in the same way. “I am available right now, if you are. Where would you like to meet?”

Picking it up from the back of his computer chair, Liam put on his coat, then grabbed his car keys, finally heading out in to the hallway of Argent Manor, making his way to the front door. He wondered to himself what had prompted Myk to want to spend time with him, not that he minded one bit.

There was a wriggle on the line, the bait had hooked him a monster of a catch. Myk smiled at the tickle the telepathy brought him as it sent all other sounds into the background. The noise level was comfortable, none too distracting, and so he easily projected his thoughts back at the other.

“Anywhere is fine by me.” He stopped to check his surroundings. It seemed that he’d gotten pretty far in such a short amount of time when he saw the distinct front of the café just before him. “Do you prefer cafés or clubs, Liam? Right now I’m at the Riverview Café. Tea is all well and good, but I wouldn’t say no to something stronger. Your dominion, your choice.”

He didn’t even know what he’d meant by that: your dominion, your choice. It just somehow seemed appropriate. Liam was the older vampire, the one with authority, so it seemed just to give the man the right to choose. Myk sensed that there might be some kafuffle in that, that maybe Liam would be polite and give the choice to Myk, and thus it was about to get frustrating.

Myk’s tense and fidgeting fingers found their way to his hair, curling the bone-white tresses into knots and bows with expert dexterity. He didn’t want all this drama, he just wanted to get to the heart of the matter. Liam had knowledge he wanted – apparently – and the sooner he attained that, the sooner he could move on to the next stage of his plans.
