Mistaken Identity

She stared out the window of the hotel room she had acquired when
arriving in Harper rock. Her dark brown eyes gazing absently
thru the small patch of fog her warm breath created on the
glass. the reflection staring back at her was barely
recognizable to even herself. she was pale, her face thinner
from lack of sleep and proper nutrition from this trip.
Dark strands of hair obscured her features somewhat from the
outside world. a world she wished to remain absent from.
shivering a bit Her arms wrapped around her slender frame , desperately
trying to ward off the chill of the room.
Rayne had arrived earlier in the evening. Her contract said he
had violated the masquerade. What the hell did that mean ?
Her job was simple. find the man, kill him and head home. Turning
from the window with a deep sigh, she absently started unpacking.
The train ride was uncomfortable, cold and long. It was the
best way to remain normal. blending in with the crowds. she had
yet to earn her bigger tattoos , but the smaller ones would be
noticeable. In a town of vampires the last thing she needed was
to not blend in. The hotel was on the outskirts of town. it was
clean, comfortable and private. She paid well for the privacy.
She had lit the fire after setting her bags down , the room had
yet to reach warmth.
Pulling her sweater from the bag , she pulled it on and placed her
hands on her hips. the rest could wait , this could take awhile.
she would have to be cautious. nighttime was the most dangerous
but the best time to ask questions. Locking her door behind her,
she made her way down the stairs , out the front door shivering
slightly at the chill. " Damn winter " It hadn't even arrived yet
but she hated it already.
She first came to the moonlight lotus cafe. coffee would be amazing.
paying for her purchase, she took a small sip of the hot liquid .
Her dark eyes scanning the crowd quietly. His picture burned
in her memory. praying this would not take long. this city gave
her the creeps. last thing she wanted was to turn into one of
them.
