Can you feel it coming in the air tonight ?
Location: The Depot
Date: close to midnight October 20, 2013

Doc was rubbing his brow. Cyth was back, and she was mad at him. And in fairness, he deserved it. But god dammit! Why can't he have one ******* day where he doesn't have someone.. some female, yelling at him. If its not Pi, its Cyth; not Cyth.. its Cat; not Cat, its Velveteen.

******* women were the bane of his existence. Particularly, one by the name of Dominique Doe. One that he had stalked and hunted for the better part of six months, one that he wanted to kill in the most painful way possible, he had it planned for a slow drawn out painful death. But now, now, Cyth laid down the law, kill her now or never, because it was Her or Minx. No contest.. It had to be Cyth.

So Now he had to go find Minx, kill her, and have it all over. Anti-climatic to be sure, but he did smile a bit. He had made her life hell. The time she spent in the Psyche ward alone was enough to still leave a mark on her. Maybe he would remind her of certain aspects, right before he put a bullet between her eyes. Yes.

Vaguely he wondered if Maddie would be willing to try to locate her for him. He didn't want to pull Tytonidae in on it as it was a personal thing, there would be questions. He didn't want questions. Doc was still debating, what to do when his phone rang. He answered it easily. Cyth was back.. she wasn't happy with him.. but she was back.

"Yes." His voice has a easy going tone to it.

"Charles! Charles!"

"Porter?"

"Yea, yea, yea, Its me.. " Porter answered a bit breathlessly. "I got news for ya buddy..."

Doc rolled his head, and tried to loosen his suddenly tight shoulders. He was beginning to ******* hate Porter. "What is it Porter?"

"She's here!" Porter said in a hushed hurried whisper.

Doc looked heavenward, "Who is there?" ******* drama queen.

"Patient Doe! She's here!" Porter enunciated clearly, "Busted up good.. but she's here. We could.."

Doc cut him off, "No we can't. Pi." It was all he said. It was enough.

It was Porter's turn to sigh in a long drawn out way. "Yea.. you're right." Another sigh. "dammit."

"Yes, Dammit." Doc agreed, because this meant he couldn't kill her. Now he would just have to let her go. Let her ******* LIVE! Holy ******* ****!

Porter felt a kinship with Doc, since he had agreed with him, "Yea.. I also found out.. she's pregnant." His voice held a hint of tease, "Could it be yours?"

"****." Doc had alluded to Porter about her, only to shut him the hell up from asking too many questions. Now however, it was coming back to ******* haunt him.. the day .. the very ******* day, Cyth came back. "****!"

"I know right?" Porter agreed with a bit too much glee.

"Don't tell the patient. Lose the report if you can." He sighed, and slumped back into the couch.

"Sure thing Charles.." he waited for a second then said, "You'll tell Pi I helped you right? .. Right?"

"Yes Porter.. I will tell her." He said tiredly. Doc hung up.

Well ****, when it rains it pours. She was pregnant.. that would mean... Doc stopped. He went through the iterations. She was attractive, she could have a boyfriend. But she didn't. She had been a virgin, he knew that much. So it could be his... and that would mean.. fadebeast. She would have a ******* fadebeast. It would burst through her abdomen like an alien chest burster.

Doc's smile slowly grew. He didn't have kill her...

He already had.

The last few steps to the doors were savored. The sound of the rubber soles of her new pink Nikes squeaked on the spotless tiles beneath her steps. Other than showering she had refused to take them off. She earned them. For them she ran faster than she ever had before. Barefoot through Harper Rock with one bad *** in particular giving her every reason to kick it just a little faster was all it took. That and his posse waiting at the hospital certainly was all the more inspiration to move as fast as possible far from the place. It never ceased to amaze her when all as said and done the trouble she seemed to find herself in. She thought she had problems back in the states. This **** made jail look like a cake walk. Now there was no turning back for Jane Dominique Doe.

Mini was one of those petite but curvy types that had a bounce to her when she walked but if action was called for she turned into a straightline wind with her killer sprint. Nothing but a blur of color was seen when she set her mind to it and that night she did just that. Across Harper Rock she went and back the other way she was sent. The first time it happened it scared her close to death. The second a little less. Now the third time, not so much but she still felt sore as hell. No matter. It would heal since she was walking out of the building yet again while everyone watched and shook their heads in disbelief. All was good. She made it to where she was currently standing much to her surprise and theirs. The exit of the hospital in Bullwood never looked better. She was more than ready to use it again.

A sound of the automatic sliding doors whooshed open and Dominique blinked slowly pulling her back pack over her shoulder. How she kept the bag with her all this time was a mystery but she did. A step forward and the air that greeted her was crisp and cool. Soft black silken strands of hair skipped over her cheeks and batted at her should on the opposite side. She paused for a brief moment. Wood was burning somewhere in the short distance, fresh wood. She wondered where the fire was at but even if she did know it wouldn’t matter. It wasn’t hers so it wouldn’t be nearly the same. The scent was close enough it reminded her of when she first had arrived and the nights she spent out deep in the woods camping. Just her, the stars and the soft sounds of the nocturnal animals had made her content. Maybe it was time to think about returning. Ever since she moved into town there was nothing but trouble. Maybe she was better off back where she was to start with. No fangers came to start trouble with her out there.

If the paladin did move this time she wouldn’t have to face the winter elements in a tent. There were cabins. She could sell her house and her apartment since they were likely going to be visited anyways by those unwelcome with impressive overbites. She could build a cabin, trap the hell out of it and not see the intruders she had been receiving more and more lately. It was not like she didn’t invite them over by attacking them, because she had. That was something that was going to have to change too. The fang club she had acquired she would pass on to Duck. He needed some friends to play with. He would benefit from more socialization. Maybe his manners and etiquette would improve, then again maybe not. He was fine the way he was depending on who you dared to ask.

For the immediate future plans for her were simple. It was time to get back to making money. The hospitalizations were eating up her bank account. She was behind on trap orders and really needed to get back to work. Zodiac didn’t pay her to suck on jello cubes in the hospital and hang out eating ice cream with Rupert, though that was fun. She gave that thought as she shifted the gift teddy bear in her arms and stepped out further into the dark leaving the bright lights of the hospital lobby behind.

A few blocks were left behind her when she pulled out her cell phone and sent a text. It likely wouldn’t get a response but it was worth a shot. Really didn’t matter if it went unanswered. She was turning over a new leaf. All she had to do was swing by the store and pick up more TUMS and get back to the last place she was standing before the flashing lights came and lock the door. It was done and over. The town was big enough for the both of them. As for the antacid…that couldn’t wait. Her stomach was burning all the damn time lately and she knew it was linked somehow to all the bloodsuckers. Talk about having a rotten aura. They made it impossible for her to get through a day without chewing a bottle a day just to tolerate going out in public where they may be. A select few seemed to not be so unsettling but this last stay in the hospital had her feeling increasingly awful and sour. Not only that she felt drained and wasn’t sure why.

“Bastards. Every last one of them.” She cursed those who deserved it under her breath and jogged slowly across the street before the next set of oncoming headlights sent her back from where she came.

The jingle of bells on the door alerted the shop owner of her presence. A sweet old lady crisscrossed her waddling feet over to the counter where Dominique was making her own way slowly. She looked around briefly until the woman with less time on her side than the female paladin had finally got behind the counter and ready to do some business. Fading eyes bounced back and forth across the counter and Dominique before a duel smile appeared at once by both women as if it was a draw on who was faster at appearing receptive. Min’s lips dropped and the elderly woman held hers without surrendering.

“Pretty late for you to be out isn’t it?” The smoker friendly growl that not expected asked and left Dominique blinking in surprise. Finally she looked down ad realized she was in hospital scrubs that they gave her to wear home.
“No worries, just released.” She turned her head just enough to keep the woman behind the counter in the corner of her eye while looking to see if there were TUMS behind her with all the other over the counter products she spotted over the frail woman’s shoulder. “Need a bottle of TUMS…make that two bottles.”

The saleswoman looked at her more closely then pulled the reading glasses off the bridge of her nose that she didn’t need. Dominique shifted her backpack over her shoulder and this time confirmed there were TUMS in the second row of the tiered shelf behind the counter.

“Young lady do you really think you should be taking them without your doctor knowing? I would really consult…” The well meaning gray haired woman didn’t stand a chance.
“My doctor is a walking dead man.” Mini hissed as she dropped her backpack on the counter between them. “I would appreciate it if you…” She paused and leaned in a little and read the woman’s name on her pin on badge. “Gertrude…serious? Gertrude? I thought I had shitty luck with Jane Doe. Anyways, Gert, lets get the tropical flavored TUMs bottles from behind you on this here counter and we exchange some money and part ways?”
“Too much calcium..” She was reaching for the bottles with her hands when Mini noticed the fake bling dotted her stubby, knotted up digits glittering beneath the store lights.
“Is a damn good thing, Gert.” Dominique interrupted while unzipping the side pocket and pulling out the money she would need. “It’s how I sleep at night and survive another day. Don’t go ruining what worls. The customer is always right.”

Without waiting for Gertrude, the accommodating saleswoman in the corner shop, to ring up the sale the one of the bottle of TUMS was already opened and getting tossed back with an inked and bandaged hand. The paladin made her way back out of the store, through the transit all while still chewing the antacids that reminded her of a chalky pina colada.

Once she was out of the transit in Honeymead she made fast work of clearing the lobby into the elevator. A loud binging sound alerted her and she got out on the fifteenth floor of West Tower. Home at last. Her keys in her hand were immediately in contact with the lock and the door popped open. She stepped inside quick and bolted every lock she had.

A flip of her printed finger erased the darkness and put light upon what she had not seen since she was carried out on a stretcher. She felt dizzy as soon as her eyes floated slowly across the empty space in shock. Everything was gone. She didn’t have much but it was all gone. Every bit of what she could say she owned. She went to her living room closet and found nothing but a broken hanger which she took hold of as she ignored the dried blood streaked across the floor beneath her steps. The walls were no better. That ********. Her mouth went dry and she went to her bedroom and found everything gone from there too. He took it all. Her nostrils flared and her jaw clenched.

Back down the hall to the kitchen she went where she left her back pack, TUMS and her cell phone. The TUMS was in her mouth filling up both cheeks as she struggled to cap the oversized bottle of pastel colored wafers. The other hand was already moving faster than lightning as she managed a single handed text and sent it out.

-What you started I am now going to finish you sick ****.- She hit send and figured that was all the warning he didn’t deserve.

The cell phone dropped down and she looked over at the stove where a single pot sat. She picked it up and looked inside and could see the kitchen tile through the bottom. Then and there she knew she would kill him, break his neck or something…anything to leave him feeling everything he made her feel and endure and more. A dead man walking he certainly was but not for long. Mr. Immortality was now on borrowed time. Her hand went to reach for the half full bottle of TUMS when she felt the boiling roll in her gut unlike what she felt before. It was out of no where and there was no stopping it. She slid around the corner and slammed the bathroom door shut, dropped down to her knees and to the porcelain and gave up her sour offering while cursing heaven and hell with every breath she could get back in.

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Catherine Nilson: *sees him from across the street* DAY.

Day: *He hears his name and pauses and looks around. He sees Wendell's Baby Girl. He threw up his in acknowledgement. He wasn't used to being called out. It was a bit unsettling. Day typically tried to stay under the radar. But that was before. He nods, and says "'Sup?"

Catherine Nilson: When he threw his arms up, Cat blinked and threw her arms up too. Then she just sort of stood there. "Oh, not much, Axel is doing stuff and my dad's mate came back, so he's doing stuff." Heads turned, Cat didn't seem to notice.

Day: Day realized he was going to have to cross over to her, else they would continue to yell at each other. So he did, as he closed in on her, "Who is Axel?" He didn't know.. and couldnt remember if he should know or not.

Catherine Nilson: "The best most handsome and scary vampire in the world," she informed him, standing close so he could hear her deadpan voice.

Day: "No.. He is standing right here. I've been told so." He was just as straight faced as he uttered it. "Just earlier today in fact."

Catherine Nilson: Cat raised an eyebrow, then a smile broke through her usual serious expression. "Okay. I guess you are. But Axel is my boyfriend."

Day: He smiled briefly, "Thanks.. and hes a lucky guy." Name Axel, Blonde Baby Girl's Boy friend. Then He asked, "So.. what you are to Wendell.. if Axel is boyfriend?"

Catherine Nilson: "Oh, Wendell's my friend. He's in love with me but I told him he's too old." At least, that was how Cat perceived it. In reality Digo had no emotions and it was a miracle that he put up with Cat at all.

Day: Day pressed his lips together and nodded. The way she said it so firmly made him think it could be true. "Wendell's Loss..for sure.."

Catherine Nilson: *deadpans up at him*

Catherine Nilson: "Day, if a paladin dies and a vampire doesn't kill them, do they still go to paladin heaven?"

Day: *Day looked at her, with a slight furrow to his brow* I don’t think there is a heaven.. So.. no they just die and rot.

Catherine Nilson: Cat blinked. She didn't believe in heaven either, but she held her hands up at him. "That's not the point. What I mean is, do paladins think they get special points for killing vampires. And, what if a vampire turns a paladin into a vampire against their will, then does that mean the vampire is still a paladin?"

Day: "Oh.. so you're saying.. in 'their' mind.. not reality?" Day nods and thinks a moment. "I would surmise, that they think.. yes they get points for killing us... Now then, if a vampire turned a paladin.. are they still a paladin?" He pressed his lips together, "That would depend on their actions. If .. they attack us, yea they were good and brainwashed.. and still a paladin." He held up a finger, "But.. if they don’t attack.. then the brainwashing didn’t work"

Catherine Nilson: Cat nodded in agreement. This is the answer she wanted to hear. She watched him, "What are you up to?"

Day: "Met a girl.. " He stopped. "Prolly won’t end well.. but I gotta try."

Catherine Nilson: "Why don't you think it will end well?" All her friends are finding love, and she thinks that's great.

Day: Day pressed his lips together, then said, "She's human." He nodded knowingly in a rather, yea I am asking for trouble way...

Catherine Nilson: Her friend Nolan is dating a human, but that doesn't mean she doesn't think Day is stupid. "You know tha-" When he nods she knows he knows that he could be stirring up trouble.

Day: "Yea...." He drew the word out. "But she’s feisty.. tiny thing like you.. but brunette.. knows how to handle a blade.. "

Catherine Nilson: "She isn't a paladin, is she?" Cat mumbles.

Day: Honestly Day hadn't even thought about that. He had been kinda distracted by her assets to think it through. "**** Girl.. why you have to that?"

Catherine Nilson: "Don't look at me like that, I'm not the one palling around with the enemy." Cat attempts to look taller and more menacing.

Day: *Day tilts his head down and cocks it at an angle, giving her a don’t mess with me look* We dont know.. she could just be, one fine hot chick.. that has a lot of tats..

Catherine Nilson: Cat's hand shot out and she took Day's arm. She began to walk toward her sire's apartment. Hopefully he hadn't thrown her tattoo and skin book away.

Day: "Woah woah... whatchoo doin'?" He voice indignant, and he pulled her to a dead stop. "Girl you got a man.. I aint on for that...I ain’t no poacher.."

Catherine Nilson: "Come ON Day." She let him go and folded her arms across her chest. "Is that all you ever think about?"

Day: A crooked smile, "Its what we were talkin' bout right? What are you on about.. draggin me off to who knows where..."

Catherine Nilson: "I'm not like that, Day. Gross." Cat mumbled shyly and turned around. "I was just going to show you my Skin Book."

Day: Day relents and allows her to tug him where she wanted, "That's a new one.. "yea I wanna show you my ...book"..." He teases.

Catherine Nilson: "Your big black book?" Cat mutters darkly. She climbs the stairs and tries her key. The book would be on the usual shelf if she could get in.

Day: Day rolled his eyes, "Right.. if I had a 'big' black book.. would I be hitting on chicks in hospital?" He shakes his head, "Damn thats lame.. hearing it out loud.. " he sighed.

Catherine Nilson: "That's actually kind of sweet, Day," Cat teased, deadpan. "Like bringing them flowers and stuff. This one time, Axel was sick, because Doc ripped off his arm, so I got to hit on him while he was stuck in bed."

Day: Day gave Cat a weak smile, but it didn’t make him feel better. He was.. 'sweet', what guy in his right mind want's to be seen as the 'sweet' guy? "Eh..."

Catherine Nilson: Cat stood on the tips of her toes. "Are you blushing? I can't tell." She sounded serious. She let him into Doc's apartment, and handed him a scrapbook with pieces of dried out human skin depicting various paladin tattoos.

Day: "Hell No girl.. blushing..********.. " he glowered at her. He followed her into the apartment, and looked at the book. "Nope.. nope.. nu-uh.. no..” a pause “.. ****."

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Doc: Doc headed to the girl's .. Jacq's apartment. He knocked and when he didn't receive an answer he went in. It was immaculate. Spotless. Doc lifted an eyebrow, and sighed. Apparently Jacq was still trying to fight her inner demons by cleaning. From the state of the apartment she was deep in the midst of 'dealing'. Everything was in place, except one book. The Book. The tattoo book.

Catherine Nilson: Cat was playing a board game with Axel. It had zombies in it, and special map tiles. She was getting pretty good at it. She had been looking at the book with Day last night, because she wanted to see if her friend was indeed dating a paladin. It would have been okay with her if it was just a normal human, but apparently it's a really short dark haired white paladin girl.

Doc: Doc moved over to the book, and saw the page it was open to. It was open to a tattoo that was very similar to Minx'. Dammit. He promised Cyth, he would have nothing more to do with her. And he intended to keep that promise. He called Jacq, and while it rang, he went over how he was going to find out why she had looked that particular tattoo up. He got Jacq's voicemail and left a brief message to call him. He then called Cat.

Catherine Nilson: "Go fish," said Cat. Then she answered her phone. "Hello? Oh hi dad. You didn't talk to Wendell did you? Because he's lying." She didn't want to talk about the psychotic episode Wendigo and Day had gotten her out of. It was embarrassing and Cat thought it was important that Doc see her as an adult who could take care of herself since he'd kicked her out of the apartment.

Doc: Doc lifted a brow. He would speak to Wendell later, but for now the tattoo book. "Hello Cat, no I haven’t spoken to Wendell.. I was looking for Jacq, have you seen her?"

Catherine Nilson: "No," she mumbled pointedly. It was Doc's fault for separating them, now she didn't see her as much. Not that she'd seen her much before anyway. But it was still his fault.

Doc: Doc heard the attitude in her voice. "Don't give me attitude. It was a simple question. Fine you haven't seen her." He was tempted to hang up. He wasn't in the mood for female sullen hysterics. "Have you been to the apartment?" He was expecting another sullen, 'no' at which point he would hang up.

Catherine Nilson: "Yeah." Cat fidgeted, then smooched her mate and stepped outside. She knew that this was about the book. Her Skin Book, it was a gift to Doc, painstakingly crafted from the skin of paladins, each page with a special tattoo and some notes.

Doc: "Dammit." He muttered. He hadn't expected that. He counted. Of course it was her. Jacq wouldnt go paladin hunting.. but Cat would. She had before.. she would again. "Why?" He needed to get all the details he could, and he didn’t need to blow up.
Catherine Nilson: "Oh. My friend Day wanted to see it, for fun," she mumbled casually. She had no idea that Day was with Minx, or that Minx had the tattoo on the page Day had left open. Cat was going to stay away from Minx, because Doc said, that one was his toy. So she was hesitant to talk to him about all paladins female and spunky.

Doc: "Fun huh? Who is this Day? And why did she want to see the book?" Ok so Cat wasn't hunting them.. good. At least good she wanted hunting a specific one. But knowing Cat, she was hiding information. He needed to draw it out.

Catherine Nilson: "He's a guy who killed a rogue vampire with Wendell and me. It was pretty fun. And I dunno, I guess he was just curious about tattoos. He saw somebody he thought was a paladin but she was dressed normal." And also had some paladin tramp stamps, apparently.

Doc: "What else...he had to have a reason other than .. he 'thought' he saw a paladin. Was he looking for a specific paladin?" So if another vampire was hunting her.. all the better. So she might die sooner than the fadebeast rips out of her. That could work. That could work quite well..

Catherine Nilson: "Yeah, I think he wants to kill her," Cat lied, not wanting to get Day in trouble with Tytonidae. She owed him one for getting Wendell to talk her out of the hole.

Doc: Doc nodded. Good. He relaxed. "Ok.. thanks.. " He closed the book and tucked it under his arm. He was going to take it to the house. 'Well take care Cat.."

Catherine Nilson: "Wait. Have you gotten a human for us to dissect yet?" Cat demands. This tension made her fingers itchy for some scalpelling.

Doc: "Oh.. uh.. Well not exactly..." He made a face, he had forgotten all about that.. with Cyth back and all.. he had been a bit preoccupied. "Cyth is back you know.. "

Catherine Nilson: "I know. You were in a good mood. Said we would celebrate." Plus Jessica had died, and Cat doubted she would be coming back. So, double celebration.

Doc: "Yea.. I am going hold up to what I said.. we will practice on a human .. at the lab. I said so.. we will do so. Its just well.. * he had a knowing smirky smile to his voice* Cyth is back.. its been three ******* months.. gimme a break!"

Catherine Nilson: "Oh my god, you guys are worse than me and Axel," Cat mumbled. But she was smiling too, and he could probably hear it in his childe's voice. It was all going to be okay now that Cyth was back. Doc would never stab her ever again.

Doc: "We have to christen the house.. " He said like it was normal, "Imma keep buying properties..you know.. for the christening.. " He glanced at his watch, "And speaking of which .. I need to go,,.. have to get some whipped cream for her.. " He shifted the book, then added, "And I got the book with me. Taking it to the house."

Catherine Nilson: "Okay," she finally said after a long and somewhat disgusted silence. She couldn't imagine stuffy old Doc having relations with somebody. Especially not on every surface of the home. She sure as hell wasn't asking him for any other houses now.

Doc: "Later Cat...." Doc disconnected and headed to the store for the whipped cream. Cyth 'had' to have it on top of her coffee, but he had other plans for it.

Catherine Nilson: Cat hung up too, grumbling. Old people should not be having relations. If movies had taught her anything, it was that only attractive young people had sex, and it was usually a really bad idea.

The job review at work with Zodiac took a little longer to get to since that custom restored cherry apple red mustang of hers was missing. Imagine that. It was not a huge guess on who had it currently in their possession like everything else she owned outside the panties currently covering her *** and her latex Batgirl costume she was currently wearing. That was fine. Doc would not have it for long. No one stole from a car thief like Dominique and kept it for long. That would be the easiest thing to fix out of pile of **** that was building in front of her to deal with. No car was safe from her gaining possession of. She could break into and hot wire a car blindfolded. It was like licking hot butter off the top of a steaming sweet roll. Slick and fast. She was born to do it and to run. However even that sweet ride that had everything a person could want under the hood and on the dash was a little farther from importance right now.

Dominique was a bit distracted. She had sent her unwelcome car sitter a text telling him what she was going to do. Of course she would get to that but first she had to see just what was fact or a gypsy’s wild guess. It was rather simple really to accomplish in this case. She pulled open the door to the shop and the tell tale sounds of chiming bells dangling on silk ropes rang around her as she stepped in. It was becoming a habit and so was the unsure wince of her face as she heard the distinct shuffle of Gertrude squeaking her way towards the front of the store where Dominique currently stood. The sight of Dominique was likely going to be a bit of a shock to the old broad who didn’t seem to have changed her outfit since their last meeting half as much as Dominique did.

“I have to pick up something for a friend. Actually make that two of this…” She grabbed a pen off the counter while Gertrude obviously had not paid any attention to what the paladin was wearing as she made her way to the other side of the counter. The home test kits product name was written down to save her having to hear her own voice ask for it. She dropped the pen and slid the paper to be in front of Gertrude. “Two of those.”

The woman took her time looking up and it was a good thing. As soon as her eyes finally fixed on Dominique’s costume her lids seemed lost at the her orbs expanded to the size of saucers. Aged fingers crab walked across the counter between them and crunched the paper into their clasp. Slowly the woman adjusted her bifocals and read the writing on the piece of paper. Quickly those gaudy ring adorned fingers yanked the glasses from the end of her nose so they dangled at the front of her chest thanks to the chain attached to each earpiece.

“Trick or treat.” Mini chirped sweetly and forced an adorable smile to her cheeks. Dimples activated and set deep at each side of her face she continued on nodding down to the paper in the woman’s hand. “So much for tricks, eh?”
“Sad indeed.” Gertrude shook her head turning on her elevated podiatrist approved heels and pulled each box down slowly. Once both kits were in her hands she turned back around and set them carefully on the counter as if they were made of blown glass. “This happened to my neighbor’s niece’s best friend and the poor girl ruined her whole life. She wasn’t into that rubber stuff like you kids are now.”

Dominique’s face squirreled up and looked at the saleswoman like she was about to take their conversation into the most unwanted and disturbing places she has no interest in accompanying Gert.

“Uh…yeah. Alright. How about I pay for these and we just call it a night. This is more important.” Dominique tried to dismiss the woman’s potential long winded and questionable story content. “My friend is waiting.”
“ I am sure she is.” Gert went about trying to slide the bifocals back over the bridge of her nose while she held the one box like it was about to explode in her hand. “Okay, let us see what we have here.”

Dominique felt the cruel tip toe of irritation crawl up her spine. Along with it came the desire to reach across the counter and take the woman by the shoulders and shake her for making all of this last longer than it should. Her nostrils flared as she eyed the register already going over the process of ringing up the sale three times in her own mind while the woman located the 3 key to start.

“Okay…wait…I think that is an 8 isn’t it? Oh dear, let’s erase that shall we?” Gertrude was going on more to herself than she was paying attention to the lack of patience her latex clad customer was demonstrating. “There we go. I think it is going to be fine now…wait.”

Dominique heard footsteps from behind and turned quickly to look over her shoulder and find a middle aged male stroll in.

“Hey Gert. Need some Menthols.” He stepped up to the counter like he was invited to view the transaction taking place. Instead he eyed the costume standing next to him. “Happy Halloween.”
“Yes, rubber is the latest thing these days, Harry. Could you ever see that on Lonna?” She pinched her lips tight narrowing her eyes at Dominique as if it’s the first time she realized what she was wearing.
“No, I can’t say I could see it on Lonna.” He looked down to the boots then back up.
“ I need to go. Here is more than enough.” She pulled out and slapped down enough for the kits leaving the extra behind.
“Don’t you want your change?” Gert was heard calling out as she pulled the shop door open and exited to the street.

Dominique shook her head and made a quick trip back to West Tower. She was damn tired and this was too long of a process to find out something so simple as that her employer, the gypsy extraordinaire, was wrong. No one should be able to figure that out and especially when it wasn’t true.

Once inside the peeling of latex began as she made her way back to the master bedroom. It was one of those things she was certain would turn out as she had expected. The apartment was quiet and the bathroom door did not open for over an hour. Once it finally did the paladin stepped out in a bathrobe and closed the door behind her. Her hand held it shut as if something may pop out and scare her at any moment. How could Zodiac know such a thing? And what the hell was she going to do now?
