Eachann headed to work as he did every day..... well, most days. It wasn't the most exciting of jobs working in the antiques shop, but it was work and it got him cash - so he put up with it. Tonight though, he had a new toy to play with and investigate once he was there and while things were quiet. He'd nicked it from Mini, one of the fancy trap things she was always making, and he wanted to maybe dismantle it and see how it worked, maybe see if he could learn to make them too. She didn't know he'd taken it, and he hoped he could get it back to her before she even noticed it was gone. Otherwise..... well, things would get ugly and probably bloody, VERY quickly.
Pulling out his keys he opened up the shop, smiling to the other people in the market who were doing the same thing, or the customers already queuing outside of one place that was having a sale. The shutters were raised and the door opened, so he walked on in and began turning on the overhead lights as well as the ones in all of the display cases. Once the front was all set up, he went through to the back and picked up the till, heading back out front to set it up ready for all the sales he wasn't going to make. This was why he liked the job, it was pretty quiet. People would come in and browse, maybe ask a few questions and then leave again. No hassle, no stress, and he could read and relax or do whatever out the back or from behind the desk.
He walked over to the door and made sure the bell was working, so if it were opened then the little bell would chime to let him know someone was there, then went back into the store room and pulled out all of the bits and pieces he'd taken from Mini and began to set them up. She'd called it a shock cage, or something similar, and seemed quite excited about it - so of course, he'd taken it. He was poking around at one of the little boxes and it was sparking merrily with some sort of internal power source that he was trying to get at. He literally, didn't have a clue what he was doing, but he'd seen her set it up and take it down again - so he knew that bit was right. The idea was, these were supposed to be able to hold a vampire in one place for at least 24 hours. Something about that's how much power was in the power source, how long it could last. He was wondering if there was a way to extend the life of the battery, keep them indefinitely. The bell went at the front door and he grumbled. Getting up from his knees, he left the trap all set up and hidden away on the ground there and then went to see who'd come in the door.
He shut the door behind him and walked on through to the shop again to settle down behind the desk and watch as the young couple who'd come in browsed the antique rings. From the way they acted together, they were obviously in love with one another and probably engaged, and this was them picking out the ring. He picked up a magazine and began to read, trying to hide the smirk on his face as he listened to their inane conversation, with him trying to sound like he knew what the hell he was talking about when he obviously didn't - while she was dithering and seemed like she didn't know what she wanted at all. It was going to be another one of those days and he couldn't believe that he was going to be here late, having volunteered to do a douple shift for late night shopping. Joy!

They had just returned from their trip from the Bermuda Triangle and what a crazy holiday that had been! Elizabeth was certain she would not go on another boat, or anywhere near water for weeks ((not that she was on a boat often, but the same rule of thumb applied to walking on water or sitting by it)). In the end, the pair had managed to bring back a few interesting treasures, some that might even be worth a lot of money. Elizabeth wasn't certain as she wasn't a collector, nor did she know what most of these things were for, given the woman had missed two hundred years of not only history, but man made ingenuity.
The woman collected a few of the smaller trinkets, because they were the easiest to carry and with the old adage, "Big things come in small packages," Elizabeth was ever the optimist. With each item wrapped carefully by her newest thrall, Elizabeth took the messenger bag from the raven haired woman, gave her a hug and went on her merry way. She only knew of two places where she could find out what the items were called, what they were used for and how much they were worth. Jacob's place, though most of it was a front instead of being a real antiques place and the place next to his store, ran by Bella Dupree.
As the woman caught the train station to the riverwood market area, Elizabeth came up with an idea. She would get the items appraised, go to Jacob and then back to the other store, in an attempt to get a better deal. To play the stores against one another, though she would really be playing Bella's store against her. It was nothing personal, but Elizabeth wanted to ensure she got the most money for her rare valuables.
A hand pushed open the door and a chime sounded above her head. This caused Elizabeth to pause in the door way and look around. She more or less had the same thing in her own shop, as it provided an extra sense of old fashioned security to her. Should the sensor or camera ever fail, there, the bell would still be. Her eyes moved left, then right and finally straight ahead to a desk. With her thrall's messenger bag tight to her side, Elizabeth progressed forward, a smile upon her features. She stopped at the desk, leaned against it and waited patiently.

The day had been horrifically long and boring, and there hadn't even been anyone coming in to sell things that he could try and fleece. In fact, the day had been so slow that halfway through the afternoon he'd put his head down on the counter beside the till and closed his eyes, napping for a few hours. Now, it was dark outside and he was staring at the clock, counting down the minutes to the hour change which was home time. There hadn't been anyone in for the last hour, so he'd sat there staring, waiting, having done all of the tidying up after the last customers had been through, picking things up and changing their positions. It annoyed him how people liked to shop with their fingers and not just their eyes. It meant he actually had to work and do something instead of just sitting there sleeping or reading. 'Doing stuff' had never been his forte.
The frown on his face and the grumble in his throat wasn't even attempted to be masked as a woman walked in and looked up at the bell in surprise, that same bell that had stopped him from clock watching. He cast his eyes back to the clock and couldn't believe that there was literally 5 mins left to closing time. And THIS was the time this stupid woman decided to come on in. His eyes cast over the blonde and took in the measure of her as best he could. The blonde hair was coming loose, with tiny little wisps just caressing her cheeks and lips as a breeze swirled through the door as she closed it. Her eyes, once her head was turned to look at him were outlined and highlighted with a charcoal coloured shadow and eyeliner, while her plump lips were covered in what looked like a pale gloss. She was dressed in a sweater dress that matched her eyes with the grey and white, cinched at the waist with a thick black belt - and it was finished with thick black tights and calf length boots. However, the cut of the dress seemed too big around her shoulders and upper arms, and all of the skin he could see was deathly pale. This caused his eyebrow to rise as he stood up from his seated position and plastered a lazy smile on his face, rolled up his sleeves to his elbows and extended his hand.
"Guid e'en tae ye. Hauw cn a he'ulp ye?"
He could see the cloth messenger bag slung over her shoudler, and guessed that she was here to sell something to him - and from the state of her clothes and style, he guessed she had money to burn. So this wasn't someone pawning the family heirlooms, this was someone who thought they had something. Or maybe just a bored trophy wife who'd seen one too many daytime antiques show and thought she could have a shot at it all. He imagined her trudging around a flea market looking for that 'big find' that of course was always there somewhere. Imagined her in the mud and **** with folks bumping her and abusing her. How far removed it was to her own life as she doubted herself and wondered why she was doing it. Until she saw that item she thought would justify it all and bring her in the big bucks, only to bring it here to him and find that it was tat. Oh how he loved his job sometimes.
His fingers wrapped around hers as she took his hand and then he shook it, a slow realisation at how cold she felt. Clammy almost. She was pale, she was freezing to the touch - those were vamp indicators. However, they were also indicators of bad circulation and a fondness for the whole 'china doll' look. So while he put it to the back of his mind and looked to the bag to see what it was she'd brought - he couldn't help wondering if this was in fact a vampire he was standing in front of and the possibilities that could bring for him.

A hand was extended towards her, which at this time Elizabeth made a mental note to blink and then took the hand to give the man a greeting. His accent was horrendous, but she made no comment, nor let it show on her face that she could barely understand the man behind the counter. Her eyes dropped to the counter's surface where she happened to make a mental note of the few tattoos on his arms and eventually his palm when she pulled her hand back and allowed it to rest on the surface. She had seen tattoos before, it seemed to be a common and popular trend among men in these parts and so, Elizabeth thought nothing of them, really.
Her other hand went to pull the messenger bag off her shoulder and set it next to the hand that rest on the counter so that Elizabeth could retrieve the items from her trip with her husband. It would be at this point that a pink coloured ring with various etchings encircling it would be noticeable on her ring finger, perhaps implying the woman was married, or at least engaged. Its significance would be confirmed when the woman finally parted her lips to speak to the man across from her.
"I have some items with me that my husband and I found on a recent trip, that I was hoping you could tell me about. I acquired them on a trip and know nothing about them, yet I have seen them in no store." Very slowly, the woman pulled out various bottles of shapes and sizes and placed them on the counter. "What they were used for, what years they may have been seen in, things of that nature." In all, she would pull out nine bottles and line them on the counters in front of her, more so in her proximity then his, as she knew nothing about the male, or this place's reputation. She made no inclination on if she was willing to part with these items, for she really was just curious at the moment on these jar's usages. Again after she had taken them out, the woman blinked and took a quick breath inwards before pulling on the bottom of her sweater dress to tug the material down. Given her tiny frame, very few items sat on her perfectly, which annoyed the woman greatly. Clothing was made in bulk, instead of tailored to ones desires and needs, which was convenient for those making the items, but also lacked in personalization. "Can you help me with this?" The woman lifted her chin up, a hand moving to a strand of blonde hair that curled its way around her ear and rested on her cheek, before focusing primarily on the male with her ocean coloured hues.

"Aye"
He replied to her question, asking about whether he could help her. However with what - wasn't specified. She'd been tugging in what seemed to be an uncomfortable manner with her dress, and then she'd fingered her hair, while of course, she'd just been talking about the bottles. However, he would happily remove her dress, cut her hair and answer her questions about the bottles - so aye seemed to be the most appropriate response as he grinned at her. Yet, even though she seemed perfectly nice, calm and harmless - he couldn't help but feel on edge around her. Like, there was just something.... off. The longer he stayed in her presence, the more that the feeling intensified and he knew then that she was most certainly a vampire. It was his Paladin powers, like a sixth sense, that told him when there was a vampire near - even if he'd never seen them or met them before. There was no-one else around, so it had to be her. However his face remained implacable and totally unreadable as he reached out and took one of the bottles into his hands.
He stayed silent as he examined the various bottles that were of differing shapes and sizes, all for different types of medicines. Some had original stoppers in good condition, others had new corks while a couple had corks that were a bit dishevelled and degraded. The labels were in fairly good condition, though on a couple - they were in too good a condition. He pulled out a little kit from under the desk and set about taking a miniscule sample from down the edge and then mixed it with some chemicals in a little test tube. He waited until the liquid changed colour and then curled his nose and set it back into the kit. Two of the bottles were set to one side with a third just to the side of them. 4 more were set into another bundle while the remaining 2 were put together.
"Apothecary bottles. Maistly."
He said, pointing at the two he'd set aside first.
"These huv had their labels replaced an air wurth nae much noo. Replacing they labels hus toe-tally ruined they-r value. N these he-ear. These ahr fine examples likes. These whill get ye a guid price depending an whur ye sell theym likes."
He was indicating the four he'd set aside third then moved on to the single bottle.
"This'n hus had a new stoh-per placed in eet. This's wud hae been like, fer beer an ye cud sell it tae a pub fer their display. See he-ear? There's the brewers mark."
He pointed to the raised marks down the side.
"Aye, an finally, these anes. They're ald, but in nae guid condition. This'n is a spice jar an this is anaither apothecairy bo'ale"
He looked at them all and added it all up in his head, taking off a percentage for resale and then made his offer as he leant back in his seat and smiled convivially up at her.
"Aye'll gie ye five hunnert fer them ahl."
He cocked his head, waiting to hear her response as he eyed her ring curiously.

His accent made their conversation a little awkward, Elizabeth processing what exactly it was he was saying before she even thought about replying. Her mind flitted to the internet where she researched everything he was saying, or suggesting about the bottles; the apothecary ones. Spice, she more or less knew about, having cooked a couple times in the past few years to recognize how they may have changed in size, colour and appearance for the consumers.
She would keep the apothecary ones for certain, as they seemed far more interesting then the spice or ones used for booze at some point. When he was over and done with explaining what they were, and their conditions, or lack of condition, her eyes finally moved from the bottles, to his face. When he named his price, she shook her head and moved the pile of apothecary bottles to the side, away from the others. "And what of just those? I can do without those, but these....these I rather like."
As she talked, his gaze lowered to her hands, or rather one hand in particular that held her pink wedding band. She thought nothing of it, being he seemed a person to pick up the finer details of things. Case in point, the bottles she had brought in and the way he broke it down for Elizabeth.
A thought struck her now that Elizabeth was here and since she probably wouldn't be coming back, the woman had thought now was the opportune moment to ask. "And once that is sorted, in whatever manner, I was curious as if to you might have something...unique in your possession? For sale, that is." Elizabeth elaborated, just in case he was not certain what she meant by unique and why she was asking. The woman stepped away from the counter, not at all concerned with him possibly stealing what it is she had, or did not want to sell, her blue hues sweeping across the room they were in to see if maybe she could find the something unique she was looking for.

"Hunnert"
He recalculated the amount and then made his offer, watching her as she moved away to look at the things in the cabinets and on the shelves. He put the bottles she wanted to keep, back into the bag she'd brought them in in and then pushed it towards the edge of the counter, her side of it. His mind was racing, because here was a perfect time to get a vampire of his very own to experiment on, slice up, do whatever he wanted with. He couldn't help but think about the trap he had in the back, the one he'd stolen from Mini and that was currently set up and just ready and waiting for someone to step right into it. What could be more perfect than an actual, bona fide vampire?! Her question seemed like the perfect ruse to get her where he wanted her. He just had to play it cool.
"Aye. We've git plentae ah uneek bits n boabs. Wis they're summat in particular ye whur luikin fer likes?"
In his head he was calling her a stupid woman for being so vague in her questioning. This was an antique shop, so of course the items were unique. It wasn't like your other shops where everything was mass made and plonked on shelves. They had to hunt down these items one by one and bit by bit to create their stock. However, none of this showed as he smiled so charmingly at her and waited for her to expand on her question, so he might have a clue as to what the **** she wanted.

Again, Elizabeth took a moment before answering as she tried to process what the man was saying again. She still wasn't sure where the man originated from, but she was certain he was speaking some sort of variation of English, and so a translator wasn't going to help her any. With an internal sigh, the woman closed the program down and finally replied to the only thing she could make out of all the words the man said. What was it she wanted?
"I am quite interested in the Victorian time period. I find some of the decor and art quite interesting. Have you anything from that time frame?" Elizabeth asked with a tip of her head as she looked back at the bottles, then nodded her head at the offer, finally accepting it. "And you may have the bottles, I am willing to sell." She pushed them a little closer to the male across from her, before her eyes moved around the store, looking for something else that might catch her attention.
On a shelf was something she hadn't noticed before, given the quick look of the place, or the fact her mind was doing a few things at once; trying to decipher what the male was saying, focus on the transaction and avoid coming across as too awkward, given the way she spoke and carried herself in this day and age. While Elizabeth had made great strides in some aspects, there were some things that just couldn't be changed about her. Five hundred or so years would perhaps do that to anyone.
"And I would like that set of instruments there." Elizabeth pointed to some silver pieces on a shelf; an old fashioned syringe and scalpel, along with some item she knew nothing about. "How much for that? My husband is also a collector of bits and bobs." She returned her gaze to the male, offering him a large smile.

He eyed the items she'd pointed to as he took the bottles and set them behind the counter, ready to price up and sell on. He was sure he could get a hundred for one of the bottles alone, so he was sure his boss would be proud.... if she even noticed. He'd barely seen her since she'd hired him, in fact, if he thought back, he didn't think he'd actually seen her since he'd been hired. There were just post it notes left lying around or texts and emails fired off to him.
"Ye cin hae theym fer the bottles. Straight trade aye?"
Then he smiled and nodded, coming out from behind the counter and holding a hand out towards the back room, and the trap.
"Aye, ah huv a few beautifu pieces fae the Victorian era. Brooches, pendants, furniture, tiaras and ae cuple ae paintings. Please, heid this way n ye cn hae a luik fer yerself."
His heart felt like it was beating out of his chest as his excitement grew. There was every chance, that in the next few minutes, this vampire would be trapped. He wasn't sure how it worked, but there was a hell of a lot of electricity in that thing. And he couldn't wait to see it in action! She just had to step in the right place....
