UPDATE: Crow Eyes and Electromagnetic Emitters

Post by Mooncalf »

Two new craftable gadgets have been added...

Crow Eye
Can be placed in any building. "Establishes a connection to Crownet and sends all recorded footage. This makes anyone violating secrecy laws in the building gain double the bounty, as Crow is able to see the full extent of their carelessness. Does not work well outside or underground."

Electromagnetic Emitter
Slightly harder to make than the Crow Eye, this device can also be placed in any building, and will instead give a 50% chance to prevent any bounty increases which would ordinarily have been gained through vampiric secrecy violations. In addition (and also the reason for the harder crafting recipe), this device also prevents all cameras and computers in the area from working (including phones). Although on first glance this gadget might seem a lot better than the Crow Eye, it is also much harder to conceal, as anyone attempting to use a phone or a camera in the area will become aware that there is an emitter located somewhere in the building.

Neither of these items will do anything if placed in the sewers or the "world".

The reason these two things work is that most of Crow's omniscience comes from computerised systems, cameras, wireless signals, etc. Although he or she does adjust bounty levels based on human eye witnesses, those witnesses usually have to report the incident or talk about it on the phone, etc. before Crow knows about it. Although he or she is able to -- in a sense -- "feel out" areas by using wireless signals, effectively, as sonar waves, he or she can't see all and hear all, exactly.

Although vampires would be sketchy on the details and the full extent of Crow's omniscience, enough time has now passed that some of your characters might have started to notice a pattern in what Crow can and cannot see. Thus, the creation of these devices as a means of either blocking or enhancing Crow's sight, which will play a role in the chapter soon.
