Nimmy Vs The Washer (Robert and Lizzie)

by Nimrod
Nimrod had accessed a power he never wanted to use again. He thought it would be okay, digging into the dirt. Then he got stuck…he was buried alive. He didn’t dare scream or he’d get dirt in his mouth but what was he suppose to do now? He tried to contact Candy Man…he cried. His powers were gone. Now of all the times, his powers were gone. And he was stuck in a hole. No, a hole would be a blessing. A hole would be a hole, he was in a grave. He was trying to stay calm.

Earth worms going to eat your brain…

He started to struggle now, he wasn’t sure how long he had been under the dirt but finally he dug his way back out. He shook off the dirt like a dog. He looked down at his clothes, still dirty. He tried to shake it off more but realized they were going to need to be washed. He sighed. He sniffed the clothes…well they were overdue for a wash anyway. So was he for that matter. He wasn’t sure if they were allowed back at that one apartment so he’d be forgetting about such things.

You need to brush your teeth you stinky man

Nim frowned, he brushed off the dirt from his backpack and heading off, hoping he remembered the right way and apartment. Of course that night had been really hectic. He went into West Towers, he was given some dirty looks because of how he looked. He quickly went towards the elevator but stopped, he didn’t like it but went inside after a moment. He pressed the button for the floor then pushed himself into the corner until door open then he was out of there.

He went down the hall and found the door. He knocked, they must be out. He turned the knob, well from what he understood vampires and humans had different ways of keeping people out. “Hello?” he called out. It was the same place. He took out his cell phone, “Hmm…” he typed out slowly a message to Robbie. Got dirty, need place to clean. Hope it okay? At apartment.

Nimmy went inside, trying hard not to track dirt everywhere. Vacuum…yeah, he’d do that. If he found one anyway, he would look later. He made his way to the bathroom, he’d have to sweep in here too. Once he took off the dirty clothes, dirt would be everywhere. He carefully adjusted the water, it always was the problem. Too cold, too hot. He had been on the bad end of both.

After the bath, he got into his backpack, he had spare clothes but he really should get more. Maybe Candy Man could help. Well once he could be connected to him again. He pulled the towel over his head. He was making a mess, he just knew it. Clean the tub too.

He looked around for the thing that washes clothes. Washer Machine, yes, he remembered hiding in the laundry room one time when he didn’t want to take the medicine they were trying to make him take…they beat him later for it.

He pushed those thoughts away. He went back for his clothes and pushed them into the opening. “Hum..” he pondered the liquids. He was scared of bleach…smelled awful. Place always smelled of bleach. “Laundry detergent..” he read the label. If a little was good, then more was better to clean. He poured in quite a bit. He put the towel in too. He stared at the machine. He had no idea what to do with these buttons and knobs. He just started to press some, he heard the water go inside so he figured he got it right.

Nim hurried off to find the broom, he didn’t want them to return to a messy place. He cleaned up the bathroom and put the broom away before searching for the vacuum. He unwrapped the cord, he never done house cleaning before and jumped when he pressed the power button for the vacuum. “Noisy..” he complained, he wasn’t sure who was controlling who. The vacuum wanted to pull away and Nim tried to point it towards the dirt but then it sucked up things he didn’t want it to. Was that a tie? “No no no! Don’t eat that!” he pleaded. He tried to tap it on the nose like a bad pet who just chewed on something but that didn’t help. He turned it off. He frowned, where does it go? He looked around, but he heard noises coming from the washer machine.

He hurried back to it and foamy bubbles of soap was spitting out of it, water on the floor. His eyes widened. “EP!” he ran for the mop to try to tackle the water and suds but it just kept coming. “Stop it, don’t need another bath!” he protested then slipped onto the floor. “Owww..” he sat up, bringing his knees to his chest and started to rock back and forth. “I messed up their place..” he said, starting to sob.

Robert had taken Noah out for a walk in the wilderness because he needed to clear his head and the dog was looking a little chubby around the hips. He couldn't blame the dog for it, of course, it was his fault as well as Lizzie's and Molly's. However with how busy they had been with traitors, hackers and their various businesses - it was no wonder the poor dog hadn't been walked as much as it should have been. He was..... actually, he didn't know where he was. He was just relying on his own sense of direction and the old days as a blood thief in the camps to keep him right. However, wherever he was he apparently still had cell phone reception because it went off, telling him he had a text message. He let Noah off the lead, confident in how he'd been trained, and then pulled out his phone as he watched the dog tear off like a bat out of hell after some scent or another. Robert just hoped it wasn't some vampire in animal form that was currently being stalked by the dog, because Noah was one hell of a hunter and single minded in some things, especially when it was a scent he liked and just wanted to put into his mouth.

Swiping his thumb over the phone he read the text from Nimrod and smiled. He was very fond of the guy and wanted nothing more than to look out for him and ensure he was ok. He'd been seeing more of him recently and was glad he'd stopped, basically, living in the bank and had decided to branch out. However, he'd still not managed to persuade the man that a bedroom and bed were the best thing to sleep in and on. Robert knew that one all too well and had been exactly the same when he'd first got out of the asylum. Claustrophobia was a huge part of your psyche having been locked in a room and restrained in numerous ways, not to mention being drugged to your eyeballs with one thing or another. However, he also knew that there was no point in pushing the man into things he didn't want to do. He would just have to be there for him however he could and ensure the man had all he needed, whenever he needed it.

Using his phone, he logged into his security systems and checked through them all until he found the camera that had Nim on it up in West Towers. He watched for a while as he passed back and forth in front of it in various states of undress and decided that Noah had probably had enough exercise for the night. Surely a 3 hour walk was enough for any dog right? Giving the shrill whistle that echoed and bounced from tree to tree, he waited until he heard the paws of the dog bounding through the grass and leaves towards him. He crouched down and was barrelled over by the dog, who seemed so happy to see him and who had - from the smell of him - found a fox den to play in.

"Good Lux you REEK Noah! You're getting a bath when we get in before Lizzie sees you - she'll go mad!"

He chuckled, good naturedly as he fussed over the dog, rubbing his jowls and the top of his head. He clipped the lead back to his collar and then headed back towards town and West Towers.

It wasn't long before he was back there, in the lift with the antsy dog who was looking forward to his meal that he always got once they got home. Up and up he went until finally the doors opened to his floor and he made his way to the apartment. He let himself in, never locking his door because there was no point and most humans were always welcome. He unclipped Noah's lead and watched as the dog bounded towards the kitchen and he groaned, softly muttering to himself.

"I shouldn't have done that. He's going to track dirt and **** - literally - all over this place and Lizzie is going to kill me. Well, hopefully the fox he got at wasn't Nix. Last thing I need is her coming round all pissy!"

As he stood there watching the dog being an idiot, he realised that there were other noises in the apartment. The washing machine sounded.... unhappy and there was water running in the bathroom. But the noise that got to him the most was that there sounded to be someone crying somewhere. Carefully and silently, as only a shadow could, he followed the noise to it's source. Opening the door to the laundry room he looked in at the carnage of the water and suds all over the floor, with a Nimrod in the centre of it crying. Quickly, Robert walked on top of the water so as not to get his feet wet and crouched down beside Nim, putting an arm around his shoulders softly.

"Nimrod, what's wrong? What's happened?"

He sat and waited for the man to reply, all while Noah was going ballistic at having not been fed yet, trying to tell them what a travesty this was and how dare he not follow routine.

Nimrod was still sobbing over the fact that he just ruined the place, and the washer looked like it cost quite a bit of money and it was most likely broken too with his luck. Not that he had much concept of money, he made some, candy cost so much. Phones were now very pricey but Robbie had given him one. His eyes widen, was the phone taking a bath!? Phones don’t like baths. He thought for a moment…no it was in the bathroom with his backpack. He stared at the angry washer, starting to sob again. It was going to take a lot of collecting things to fix this. At least there was always people that gave him candy.

You ruined their place. They’re going to hate you now.

He sobbed more. He froze when he heard the door, staring up wide eyed. He tried to make himself as small as possible. He heard something run, something four legs then there was Robbie coming towards him. “I’m sorry! I’m sorry!” he started to repeat and started to shake, but then the man came over beside him, not angry. Nim stared at him. “I-I tried to clean up, after myself…the washer…it don’t like me. It’s very mad. I slip trying to make it stop. And…the vacuum it ate a tie…I think, it was a tie…it ate something that wasn’t dirt..” he said. “I haven’t gotten to the tub yet.” He added.

“I’m sorry, I made bigger mess and ruin things.” Nim said, his eyes widened again at the dog. “Hum…nice doggie…”

Robert gently rubbed the back of the man as he seemed to shake in... fear? regret? Who knew what was going through the man's mind as he sat on the floor getting more and more wet. Robert pulled his own phone from his pocket and sent Lizzie an email, knowing she didn't have a phone right now so a text wouldn't work. However with her powers, she could pick up emails with her head - no worries.

"Lizzie, I need you at West. Well, Nimrod needs you more. He's got himself into a state and looks like the washing machine might be fucked beyond repair. But you know I've NO idea how to work that new fandangled thing you picked out. Come round as soon as you can!"

He hit the send button and then put his phone away again and smiled down at Nimrod with a small laugh.

"Nim, seriously, don't worry about the blasted machine. I've no idea how it works either."

He got up and began pushing buttons, trying to get the soap suds to stop spilling out and failing dismally. Instead, all he managed to do was create a high pitched whining sound from somewhere in the depths of the machine that was followed by some sort of clunking. He shrugged his shoulders and picked up a large glod of soapsuds, throwing them at Nimrod to start a soapsud fight with a wicked grin.

"Lets leave the housework for the Mrs, and have a bit of fun eh?"

He said and tossed some more soap at the man, chuckling as Noah decided that maybe this would be more fun than eating. He came bounding in, slid his muddy feet in the water and leapt in the air to try and catch the bubbles that were flying around.

"Ha!! Nimrod, meet Noah. Noah..... Nimrod."

As Robert introduced Noah to Nimmy, the dog walked over and sniffed the man before giving him a doggy smile and licking his face - then went back to bubble bouncing.

Lizzie had gotten done with work early and surprisingly was board. One of her staff members had sent her an email saying that the children were all going to bed early and that they didn't need her to stop by. She missed them and hated not getting to read to them nightly but if she wasn't to head over, she would make the most of it. Shopping!

A grocery list was already sent to Molly and transfered the funds to her account so that she could just use her card instead of stopping at the bank. Molly was back to her old self which was saving Robert and Lizzie on money since they didn't have to keep an overstock of Ben and Jerry's in the house anymore. This gave her a little time to head to the mall before closing hours.

Time seemed to fly by but not lasting long enough even though her arms were loaded with shopping bags. She had gotten several things for her and Robert, a few gifts for Serendipity and a few other family members, and her final stop was the GAP. She had seen Nimrod often lately and he was always wearing the same clothes. Nimrod was about the same size as Robert so finding the right sizes in clothing was easy. She picked up one of everything, no matter if it was the same shirt...there were different colors. Every T-shirt and seven pairs of jeans. She even picked up socks and boxer briefs. The staff was thrilled with her purchase selections as she was giving them the sale of a lifetime. Turning a corner, she stumbled upon sweaters as it was coming into Autumn and the snow would soon be on the ground. She picked out two of each color so that Robert had something warm to wear as well.

Reaching the winter coats, she picked out a nice one for Nimrod when her mind, always being connected to her computer, alerted her of the incoming email. Her eyes went wide as she thought something was wrong with Nimrod and wanted to get home to him. Lizzie turned towards the clerks and smiled not letting them know that anything was unusual.

"I am just finishing up if you could please start the transaction."

The clerk nodded her head and began while the other helped her bag the items. Taking the winter jacket and grabbing a pair of gloves, scarf, and a matching hat, Lizzie walked over to the counter to give her the rest of the items. It took a bit for them to ring up her purchase but she was patient. Looking as if she was watching the totals, she quickly sent off a telepathic message to Robert.

"I will order a new washer when I get home, please unplug it and leave it alone. I am finishing up here and Molly will be home soon with groceries though I will have her stop off and get dinner for her and Nimrod. I'm sure he could use the treat. I also have new clothes for him so we can get him cleaned up easily. Please try and keep him calm until I get there."

Smiling at the clerk who seemed to be half shocked and half excited at the sale. Once the final item was rung up, the clerk started in on her pitch for the store credit card. Laughing lightly, Lizzie held up her GAP Visa card and passed it to her. Running the card, the clerk seemed surprised when it went through. Quickly the woman passed back Lizzie's card. Gathering her bags, Lizzie sent Molly a telepathic message having her pick up chicken and sides from the grocery deli for her and Nimrod so she didn't have to worry about cooking for the evening.

A light chuckle to herself as she looked like a weighed down pack-mule but shopping was always a relaxing pass time for her. Turning, she made her wait to the transit and hurried home to where Robert and Nimrod were waiting for her. The trains were always quiet at night which gave her time to think and where she would normally be guarded when she was alone, she was sure that no one could get around the mound of shopping bags without a struggle. It brought a smile to her lips as she clearly had gone over board, only proving Robert right that she had a shopping problem and was fully prepared for him to take her credit cards away upon walking in the door.

Slipping into their apartment, she set the bags down in the downstairs living room. Tilting her head, she listened and perked her brow at the sound of running water in the bathroom and then commotion in the laundry room. Walking into the bathroom, she noticed the tub over flowing with water and carefully rushed over to turn off the water so that her stilettos wouldn't slip on the tiles.

"Robert!! I need some towels in the bathroom. There is water everywhere."

She called out to him, not knowing exactly where in the house he was with Nimrod until she entered the laundry room to check on the washer. Her eyes went wide as she looked around at all the suds. Robert had warned her that something was wrong with the washer but she hadn't expected this. Looking over as she heard Robert and smiled as Noah licked Nimrod's cheek. She walked over and embraced Nimrod before kissing his cheek.

"Nimmy, how about we get you cleaned up. The tub is full of hot water and we can add bubbles if you like. Molly is bringing home dinner for you and I have a clean change of clothes for you as well."

She smiled at Robert and then down at Noah. "Robert, I got a few things for you as well. As for Noah...he looks and smells like he had a bit of fun today. He gets a bath next."

Nim was depressed even with the comforting gestures. He remembered small screw ups and being beaten or thrown into a small space and forgotten. This man was not related or one of those awful men in white.

Then Robbie said he didn’t know how the washer worked either. “Really?” he perked up. He rubbed his eyes. He watched as he went to mess with the machine but it sounded even madder than before. Then he tossed suds at him. He blinked, confused at first but soon broke out in a grin. He giggled at the dog, “Doggie need a bath.” He said, petting the animal before starting to toss the bubbles around. Leave the housework to the Mrs? Well no that wasn’t nice, he should really help but she was not here right now.

Course then he heard Lizzie yell about towels. Water? His eyes widened. He forgot to turn the water off? “I’m sorry Lizzie!” he said. She had embraced him and kissed his cheek, he found himself rubbing at his cheek. Why were females always kissing him? It wasn’t something he was used to, well any affection really.

Cleaned up? But he was clean. He was wet but was clean. “Another bath? Aww, two in one day.” He whined. He was starting to feel cold from the water though, he didn’t want to get sick. “Bubbles?” he said, holding some suds in his hands. When he stayed with a group of other humans, he did have bubbles and toys but the owner came back so he didn’t feel like they should stay there. He wondered if Mikey had his toys. He requested a robot plant, the boy made that rude thing so he was sure he could make a cool robot plant. He’d have to swing by the bank sometime and see if he was around.

Nim slowly got to his feet, not wanting to slip again. He was a bit achy, which was a shame he felt like a child but his body didn’t. He tilted his head to the side, “Clothes?” he said, “Thank you. These clothes wet and other clothes, well washer has them…” he said, the darn thing was possessed.

"Yeh, really. Not a clue. I wear my clothes, put them in the hamper and then they reappear in my drawers all cleaned and pressed and ready to be worn again."

He looked at Noah s he bounced around and nodded his head.

"Yup, he definitely needs a bath! Those muddy footprints all over are going to be fun to clean up...."

He chuckled and shook his head, having a bubble fight with Nimrod and enjoying how the man laughed and seemed happy and relaxed just then. However, Lizzie had come in and seemed there was something running elsewhere, and Robert couldn't help but laugh and shake his head as he wondered if his insurance covered water damage. However, it didn't really matter - he had enough cash these days to pay for most anything. Robert managed to wrangle the dog and started to calm him down as he let Lizzie take Nimrod to the bathroom to sort him out.

"Enjoy the bath Nimrod. Maybe a fashion show of your new clothes once you're sorted?"

He asked, leading the dog through to the kitchen to get him cleaned up and dried off..... which was going to be one hell of a task, because the dog was now hyper!
