The fire of a thousand burning suns (Micah)

Post by Zakar »

For years he’d hunted for the woman that he believed had murdered his brother in cold blood. He’d been close to finding her many times, sparing no expense of his family’s fortune to find her as she led him on a merry chase that spanned the globe. At last he believed he’d finally found her. In a small town in Canada. It was really rather convenient for him as his family had grown tired of him traveling under all over when it wasn’t business related. This time, he could combine business with pleasure, if one were to call vengeance pleasure that is.

Oil. That one word had made his family wealthy. Wealthy wasn’t the word for it. Filthy rich was far more apt. He’d come to Canada to conduct business on behalf of his father. There was oil to be had in Canada and his family was determined to gain the rights to it, whatever the cost. Money was power, and in this day and time, one could never have enough of either. After a weeks’ worth of meetings, he felt that they were in a good position to gaining the rights. The contracts had been signed and he was once more free to pursue his passion, finding and bringing her back to Saudi Arabia for justice.

She was now going by the nickname AJ. Apparently she worked at some kind of night club in a town called Harper Rock. Business concluded, he rented a car, luxury of course and drove over the back roads to the town in question. Upon his arrival, he rented a room at the hotel, dropped his things in the room and headed out to find the club in question. One called the Necropolis. Fitting that the woman he was looking for might be working at a place called the city of the dead. She would have had to be soulless to kill his brother the way she had.

His beloved older brother had wanted nothing more than to pursue his paranormal investigations with that demoness. Zakar still couldn’t believe that the woman had gutted his brother, then yanked his intestines out and left him to die. It was cruel to say the least, not only to the dead man, but to his family. She’d fled the scene, leaving the corpse for scavengers. Carrion birds had made short work of the man’s innards and eyes. He remembered going with his father to identify the body, or what had been left of it at least. He’d seen the heartbreak in his father’s eyes as he’d looked down upon his heir and Zakar had vowed then and there, to find the murderer and have her brought to justice.

Since he had every intention of playing this close to the vest, he spent the first night observing the patrons in the nightclub. Drinking slowly, eyes sharp but covertly eyeing each employee, he finally spied her. Pulling a picture that was old and tattered from his wallet, he looked down at it as if confirming it was indeed the same woman. Not that there was a need to do so, every detail of her face was burned into his mind. Now that he knew where she worked, he could watch her nightly and get to know her habits. Satisfied that vengeance was finally within his grasp, he slid from his chair after leaving a sizable tip and made his way out the door into the night. “Praise Allah,” he murmured to himself as he walked back to the hotel, the fresh air of the night helping him to think clearly about what he planned to do next.

Aysel Johari: Text Micah: FWD: Demoness. I know where you work. Finally I have found you after all these years of searching. You will not escape Allah's justice any longer. Expect a visit from me.

Aysel Johari: *text* Can you come to the Necro? I'm kind of freaking out.

Micah: *text* Demoness?? Who the ****'s calling you a demon? And yeah, I can be there in like 5 minutes.

Aysel Johari: *text* Okay. I'm behind the bar, when you get here we'll go in the office and I'll explain every thing.

Micah: *text* Ok I'm leaving now. See you shortly.

Aysel Johari: *Nodding at the phone, she tucked the slim device in to her pocket and served up a few more drinks while she waited*

Micah: *he left the shop and walked the short distance to the transit, taking it to the station that was the closest to the Necro. A few minutes later as he had promised he walked through the door of the club and glanced around, looking for her*

Aysel Johari: *she spied the man as he entered, it wasn't hard to do considering he was taller than every one here, even her. Her long strides lead her directly to him and she beckoned him to the office, her lips pressed in to a tight line, looking pale beneath her olive skin*

Micah: *he raised an eyebrow at the expression on her face and that she hadn't even said hello told him that something potentially serious was going on with her. At her motion he followed silently behind him, pulling the door shut behind him when they entered the office*

Aysel Johari: *She rubbed her temples and smiled* Salaam alaikum, forgive me for being rude. I'm just so freaked out.

Micah: *he waved it off* It's fine so there's no need to apologize. Just tells me that whatever you have to say is probably pretty serious. Wanna tell me what's going on? *he did wonder why she'd contacted him and not Every but he wasn't going to touch on that just yet. He wanted to hear her out first*

Aysel Johari: *she paced around the small office to collect her thoughts, then perched on the edge of the desk* Do you remember when I told you about Ibrahim? How he died?

Micah: *he frowned and went back through the few conversations that they had had* Is that the one that died when you were on that excavation? Least I think it was excavation.

Aysel Johari: Yes, that's him. *she said with a nod, pain and old memories in her eyes as she sighed softly* That text was from his younger brother, Zakar.

Micah: *the frown grew* And what exactly does he want with you?

Aysel Johari: To kill me, in a manner of speaking. He thinks I murdered his brother and I have no way to convince him otherwise. He's been hunting me since I was 18. *she sighed* He wants to take me to Saudi Arabia to face "justice".

Micah: I can assure that neither Every or I would let that happen. You know that right? He can try, but he really doesn't have any idea who he's ******* with.

Aysel Johari: I don't even know how he found me. He was here! In the club.

Micah: Well that depends. If he's got the cash then there are always going to be people who would do anything to earn a buck or two.

Aysel Johari: Oh he has the money. *she sighed* His family trades in oil.

Micah: Well there's your answer then. The question I have is - why me? Every is your sire, why did you not go to her? *he wasn't angry, merely curious as to why she'd chosen him*

Aysel Johari: *she blinked at him as if the thought had never crossed her mind* Oh...I didn't even think of it, to be honest. I guess some of my culture sticks with me. Men are supposed to be the protectors.

Micah: Oh well that makes sense *he nodded his head* Another question. How would you like me to handle this? Would you prefer I did it on my own and not tell Evee until it's finished?

Aysel Johari: I want to be the one to tell Eve. I feel like I already dropped the ball by not telling her. But yeah, if you could... I don't know... talk to him? Convince him to leave me alone?

Micah: *he gave a nod of his head. Convince? Probably not. Kill? Most likely. It was just going to depend on what happened when he finally managed to hunt this guy down*

Aysel Johari: *her jaw clenched to hold back the protest, she lived in a new world now and had a new set of rules to play by* I don't have a picture of him, but I have this... *she tugged a photo from her pocket and handed it to him. It was two young middle eastern people, clearly AJ and a man who must be Ibrahim, laughing and holding each other under the desert sun* He looks a lot like his brother.

Micah: *he took the picture from her and studied the image committing it to memory. He didn't think that it would be too difficult to pick the man out from the citizen's of Harper Rock. A guy like that would really stand out* Don't worry about it. I'll find him and advise him that it would be in his best interest to go back to where he came from.

Aysel Johari: Thank you. *she said, gratitude lining her words* I'll let you do your thing, I can't imagine he's gotten very far.

Micah: It's no problem AJ. Before you know it he'll be on a plane back home.

Aysel Johari: *she flashed him a smile, having no doubts about Micah's persuasiveness* Thanks again for coming over. *she said with a smile, opening the office door for him* Good luck.

Micah: Thanks *he gave her a small smile and left the office, already set on the task at hand. He hoped that it wen smoothly as he didn't know how she'd react if he had to tell her that he'd had to kill him. He'd cross that bridge when it came to it, right now he had a job to do*

--The following transcript is a live chat RP--

Zakar: *As the night wore on, he didn't head straight back to his hotel. He stopped and had dinner at one of the less dubious looking restaurants first, then placed a call to his father detailing what he had found and how he intended to handle it. Once he'd finished, he headed back to the hotel to make a few last arrangements for taking her back with him.*

Micah: After he left Aysel back in the Necro Micah wasn't sure where to start his search. He did a short search of the surrounding area but turned up nothing. The guy was a human though so maybe he'd needed to find some short of shelter for the night. Changing direction he headed for the hotel. He wished that he was a better tracker because that would have made this task a lot easier.

Zakar: *First things first, when he returned to the hotel he went to the front desk to inquire about getting more towels sent up to his room. The trip had been longer than he had anticipated and he felt the need for a long, hot shower. The towels he'd seen in the room were too few for his liking, and certainly not the large bath sized ones he was accustomed to using, as such, he required more of them and expected them to be sent up, post haste.*

Micah: The humans avoided him and he liked that. The would glance up at him and get out of his way so fast they'd practically stumble over their own feet. It never failed to amuse him and upon entering the hotel it was no different. The lobby cleared out within minutes with each step that he took. And a glance around had his gaze locking on a man that was completely out of place in Canada. He'd found who he was looking for but he didn't approach him. Micah wanted to see what this man would do next before getting too close.

Zakar: *though the demand for towels had been couched as a polite inquiry, it was a demand nonetheless and the front desk knew it for what it was. As he turned on his heel to walk for the elevator that would take him to his rooms, he caught sight of a very tall male and gave him a once over before dismissing him completely. The man at the front desk made a face at Zakar's back that spoke of his irritation as he complied with the request, making it clear that he thought the male was being unreasonable and that it was a waste of his employees time to run towels up.*

Micah: Perfect. Micah had easily been able to overhear the conversation and he hadn't missed the dismissive glance he'd gotten. That would only work in his favor and once the male disappeared Micah moved quickly, easily convincing the hotel employee to give him the stack of towels that had been requested along with the room number of the recipient. The elevator ride was short and only a few minutes later Micah was knocking sharply at the door.

Zakar: *Zakar had been in the process of removing his keffiyeh and agal, the traditional head covering worn by a Muslim male. Of course it also made him stand out wherever he went, but he was proud of his heritage and his religion, and very faithful in his worship of Allah with the exception that he did indulge in an occasional drink. Such was the cost of doing business in the western world. Quickly he put the agal back in place and answered the door, pleased by the prompt service. As he pulled the door open, he found his held tilting back slightly to look at the man that been charged with fulfilling his request. At 6’3” himself, Zakar wasn’t short by any means, and while he was accustomed to people looking up at him, he was not accustomed to being the one that had to look up to address someome.* Thank you. I believe that will be all I require this evening. *he reached for his wallet to get the man a tip as he added* Just bring them in and set them in the bathroom, please.

Micah: He couldn't stop the snort nor could he keep from rolling his eyes. What a prick. Micah stepped into the room and dropped the towels onto the floor in a careless head the shut the door behind him. The lock clicked into place and without taking his gaze off of the shorter male Micah slid the deadbolt into place. "I don't want your money." The tone of his voice was dangerous and the longer he looked at this guy the madder he got. Never a good thing.

Zakar: *The male stared at the larger man, eyes narrow, lips tight and shook his head as he replied* Well, then what is it you want? If not a monetary tip, then I am afraid you are out of luck for I do not trade sexual favors for a few extra towels. Besides which, you aren't my type, you're male. Wrong gender. Now, if we are done here, I would appreciate you leaving so that I can shower and pray to Allah. I have business to take care of and it requires rest so that I can carry it out. You are impinging on my time, and wasting it.

Micah: He started to laugh. "Sexual favors? Are you ******* kidding me?" That was the funniest thing he'd heard in a good long while. "Nah I got some business with you. And you're going to sit down, shut the **** up and listen until I say we're done. And if this conversation goes the way that I want it to, then perhaps I'll let you walk out of her alive. Got me?"

Zakar: I do not joke or kid. It's not conducive to making money as a general rule. What is it you want with me? My business isn't with you and I feel confident in saying that no one I know in business would associate with the likes of you. Nor do I take orders. If you want to speak, do so and I will listen to what you have to say. If I deem it important, I may even give it some thought once you are done. As for threats upon my life....I am a worshipper of Allah. If you kill me, Allah will reward me with seventy-two virgins. *he smirked and crossed his arms over his chest, confident that should he die tonight, he would be rewarded for having been so faithful to Allah.*

Micah: A smirk crossed his face. "My business with you is your threats to a member of my family. Her name is Aysel and she showed me of the text that you sent her in regards to some so called business that you have with her. I don't take kindly to someone threatening my family, which you sir, have done." He removed his sunglasses and tucked them in the front of his shirt. "And I assure you that Allah won't be able to help you should you continue to piss me off."

Zakar: She murdered my brother years ago. Not that it is any of your business, but I will be taking her back home with me so that justice may be carried out. *he shrugged slightly as if that was the only way things were going to be.* I feel confident saying that you don't look anything like her, therefore are not her family. Unless you are married to her, in which case, your wife is not dressing or behaving the way a proper Muslim woman should.

Micah: Since AJ had already told him what was going on this came as no surprise to Micah. However, this guy wasn't going to be taking AJ. It would break Every's heart and that wasn't something that Micah would tolerate. An idea began to form and he'd probably catch hell for it, but it would be worth it. "She's not my wife. But she is still my family and it will be over my dead body that you get your hands on that girl."

Zakar: If that is how you wish to deal with it, then I am certain such a thing can be arranged. However, in the interim, I will be finding and discussing a few things with...AJ, as you refer to her. *he shook his head faintly, the keffiyeh moving slightly as he did so. Clearly this man was dull-witted and didn't understand the way business worked.* My business is with her, not you or anyone else she might call family. It is as simple as that. I have no intention of laying my hands on her. She is not my wife. She will return with me and into the hands of those who will see her punished as she should be.

Micah: Micah growled and his eyes flashed with anger. He'd lost his patience now and was more than fed up with this pompous attitude. The fingers on his hands began to morph, nothing noticeable as of yet, just the points of his nails becoming more pronounced. "You aren't getting it. You will not be getting close to her. And you won't be discussing anything with her. You wanna know why? Because I'm not going to let you. If you think you're man enough then by all means buddy have a go. You will lose."

--The following transcript is a live chat RP--

Zakar: I see that reason doesn't work with you. Very well then, we are done here. You may go back to whatever hole it is you crawled out from and leave me to my business. Which, as I have stressed to you already, is not your concern. Let me put it simply, in terms you might understand since you seem to be rather...simple. She killed my brother. I want nothing more than justice for that crime. A crime that she committed with no discernible reason. *he made as if to turn away from the man, then turned back and gave him an almost feral smile* I've already been close to her this evening. She just didn't see me.

Micah: Micah chuckled softly. Oh he was going to enjoy this. And when the pompous prick turned around the killer grinned and showed of the sharp, pointed fangs that had slid into place. A hand shot out and curled in the front of the man's shirt to lift him off the floor. "I don't think I made myself very clear here. You. Will. Not. Touch. AJ." The fingers that had started to morph finished the transition leaving behind a set of long, wickedly sharp claws. "Do you get it now? Or do I have to teach you a lesson that you won't soon forget?"

Zakar: *he had no fear of the man, even as he was lifted off the floor and noticed the man had fangs. A demon. How fitting that the woman that had killed his brother would associate with one such as the man before him.* She got entangled in the evil of her own doings. Why do you choose to protect her when she is nothing more than a murdering whore?

Micah: It was obvious that this guy just refused to learn when to keep his mouth shut. No matter. He'd signed his death warrant. There were things Micah wouldn't tolerate and having a member of his family called a murdering whore was one of them. "I choose to protect her because she has my blood and I look out for my own. If the ones doing the threatening are nothing more than pompous windbags."

Zakar: You know nothing about me, nor do you know anything about the woman you are so keen to protect. If you will not turn her over to me for the justice due to my family, Allah will mete it out when she dies. Just as Allah will reward me when I die. One way or another, everyone will get what they deserve. *With that, he closed his eyes, his inner clock so attuned to praying at a certain time, that he began to do so, ignoring the man that kept him dangling above the floor.*

Micah: "You see that's where you're wrong. She's already dead. Sort of." Micah raked his claws down the side of the man's face and watched the blood that instantly rushed to the surface. "You'll die yes but there will be no rewards for you." His face grew thoughtful. "I suppose now would be the time to ask if you have any last words. Men who are condemned get that chance right? So I guess that would apply to you now. Do you have any?"

Zakar: May God destroy your house and the house of those who gave birth to you. *while it wasn't the worst insult he could think of, it was the most fitting given the situation he found himself in. He felt the blood dripping down the side of his face and lifted a hand to wipe it away, the tickle of the drops as they rolled down his skin an annoyance that drew his mind from his prayers. Zakar was not about to give this man the satisfaction of reacting to the pain that had been inflicted on him. He would rather die than bring that kind of dishonor on himself.*

Micah: "Aren't you cute? Sorry buddy my mother's already dead." And with that Micah used on one of his claws and slit his captive's throat, cutting as deep as possible. He let go and dropped the shorter male to the floor taking a step back so the blood didn't spray on his jeans.

Zakar: *a hand went to his throat in an attempt to stem the blood that pumped from it, each beat of his heart sending a gush through his fingers. The color faded from the world around him for a moment, then grew brighter. Even as he dropped to his knees, he managed to look up at the man before him. Refusing to give in to the weakness that filled him as his life's blood left him until at last, he fell forward, knees bent, forehead touching the floor as if he were merely praying, not dying*

Micah: He waited until he could hear the heartbeat begin to falter then he slit his own wrist. Grabbing a fistful of hair Micah jerked the dying man's head back and let his fingers return to normal. When that was done he forced his jaw open by pressing on the sides of the male's face. Once the jaw was open Micah held his bleeding wrist over his mouth and let the blood drip down. Not the most conventional way to turn someone but it would work.

Zakar: *while he was too weak to resist having the blood forced into his mouth, he could and did refuse to swallow it. Feeding on blood was something a Djinn did and he wanted no part of that. When his mouth had filled to overflowing, he let it dribble out the sides until the temptation to swallow rather than drown took over. The first swallow nearly made him throw up; he loathed the coppery taste in his mouth. Allah surely would not let him suffer long though. Or so he thought*

Micah: Micah was about to make him swallow it when the first mouthful went down. It didn't take much and when his wrist healed he didn't bother reopening the wound. He dropped the man and took a few steps away towards the door and waited for the change to start.

Zakar: *finally, it seemed his tormentor was leaving. Now he could lay there and die in peace and quiet. It was only when the door didn't open, that Zakar risked a glance in the direction the man had walked and heaved a deep sigh, a sigh that bubbled when it exited through the slit in his throat* You murdered me, which is what you desired to do, so there is no need to stay any longer. Unless you plan to desecrate my remains. *the words rasped, rattling from him as he tried to keep his throat covered enough to speak at all*

Micah: "Oh I'm not done with you yet. Just wait and see." His answer was cryptic as he leaned back against the door with his arms crossed over his chest.

Zakar: *he turned his head away, refusing to give the man any more time than he already had. Surely he should be dead by now, shouldn't he? Why was he still alive? Questions filtered through his mind as he began to feel pain. At first the sensation was like pins and needles in his skin, much like when a body part fell asleep. It soon became much worse than that though. It felt as though he had been tossed out naked in a sandstorm. His clothing chafed his skin at every movement and though he tried to remain still, pain soon had him writhing on the floor though no sound came from him*

Micah: It was a fitting end for the man. For one who acted all high and mighty he sure didn't seem like he was too much now as he lay there on the floor going through the transition from man to vampire. He wasn't giving him death - no this was much worse. And Micah couldn't wait to see the reaction when the realization hit the male. As he said - fitting.

Zakar: *everything in him seemed to shrivel down into a tight ball of nothing, then expand until he felt as though his body would burst. It felt as though his death took hours, the pain nearly driving him insane, only to ease up long enough for him to realize he still hadn't died before taking him under again. At last, it faded, leaving him lying on the floor gazing at the celling. A thirst burned his throat, eyes saw with a clarity they had never had before, the scents of the people that had been in the room before him assaulted his nose and made him want to gag.* Djinn! *he railed at the male, having no other word for him*

Micah: "Yeah **** you too buddy." Micah had no idea if he'd just be insulted, sworn at or what but he had a pretty good idea that it wasn't a compliment. "Now I'm gonna lay down the law here for you. You will keep your *** in this room until you are ready to accept that you're damned. Because you are, I hope you know that. I killed you but guess what buddy you ain't dead. You're cursed to live half a life now." He threw a business card and a disposable cellphone at the male. "When the sun sets, call that number. I don't suggest that you leave and try to go in the sun unless you want to be in a world of pain." He turned and undid the locks. "Allah can't help you now." And with that he left, leaving the male in the middle of the floor.
